Surah Al-A'raf (The Heights) — سورة الأعراف - **Verse:** 132 / 206 · **Juz:** 9 · **Mushaf page:** 165 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-araf/verse-132 ## Arabic وَقَالُوا مَهْمَا تَأْتِنَا بِه۪ مِنْ اٰيَةٍ لِتَسْحَرَنَا بِهَاۙ فَمَا نَحْنُ لَكَ بِمُؤْمِن۪ينَ ## Transcription Waqaloo mahma ta/tinabihi min ayatin litasharana biha famanahnu laka bimu/mineen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley They said, ‘No matter what kind of Sign you bring us to bewitch us, we will not have iman in you. ’ ### Progressive Muslims And they said: "No matter what you bring us of a sign to bewitch us with, we will never believe in you. " ### Muhammad Asad And they said [unto Moses]: "Whatever sign thou mayest produce before us in order to cast a spell upon us thereby, we shall not believe thee!" ### Marmaduke Pickthall And they said: Whatever portent thou bringest wherewith to bewitch us, we shall not put faith in thee. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary And they said to Moses: 'Whatever sign you might produce before us in order to enchant us, we are not going to believe you.'[1] _Footnotes_ - [1] Pharaoh's courtiers obstinately persisted in branding Moses' signs as sorcery although they knew well that sorcery had nothing in common with the miraculous signs granted to Moses. Even a fool would not he ready to believe that the country-wide famine and the consistent decrease in agricultural output could have been caused by magic. It is for this reason that the Qur'an says:But when Our signs, which should have opened their eyes, came to them they said: 'This is clear sorcery!
