Surah Al-'Ankabut (The Spider) — سورة العنكبوت - **Verse:** 63 / 69 · **Juz:** 21 · **Mushaf page:** 402 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-ankabut/verse-63 ## Arabic وَلَئِنْ سَاَلْتَهُمْ مَنْ نَزَّلَ مِنَ السَّمَٓاءِ مَٓاءً فَاَحْيَا بِهِ الْاَرْضَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَوْتِهَا لَيَقُولُنَّ اللّٰهُۜ قُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِۜ بَلْ اَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ۟ ## Transcription Wala-in saaltahum man nazzala mina assama-imaan faahya bihi al-arda min baAAdimawtiha layaqoolunna Allahu quli alhamdulillahi bal aktharuhum la yaAAqiloon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley If you ask them, ‘Who sends down water from the sky, bringing the earth back to life again after it was dead?’ they will say, ‘Allah. ’ Say: ‘Praise be to Allah.’ But most of them do not use their intellect. ### Progressive Muslims And if you ask them: "Who sends down water from the sky, thus reviving the land after its death" They will Say: "God," Say: "Praise be to God. " But most of them do not understand. ### Shabbir Ahmed And thus it is - if you ask them, "Who is it that sends down water from the height, and gives life with it to the earth, after it is has been dead?" They will surely answer, "Allah. " Say, "(Since this is so) all Praise is due to Allah alone!" " Say, "Praise to Allah "; but most of them do not reason. ### Muhammad Asad And thus it is: if thou ask them, "Who is it that sends down water from the skies, giving life thereby to the earth after it had been lifeless?" - they will surely answer, “God. ” Say thou: “[Since this is so,] all praise is due to God [alone]!” But most of them will not use their reason: ### Marmaduke Pickthall And if thou wert to ask them: Who causeth water to come down from the sky, and therewith reviveth the earth after its death? they verily would say: Allah. Say: Praise be to Allah! But most of them have no sense. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary If you were to ask them: "Who sent down water from the sky and therewith revived the earth after its death?" they will certainly say: “Allah.” Say: “To Allah alone be praise and thanks.”[1] But most people do not understand. _Footnotes_ - [1] Here the word al-hamdu-lillah (Praise be to Allah) gives two meanings: (1) "When all this is done by Allah, then He alone is worthy of all praise, and none else", and (2) “Thank God that you yourselves also admit this.” ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab And if you should ask them as to who sends water from the floor of the vault of heaven and revives the earth after it has suffered death, * they will say "Allah". Then say to them: "Thank Allah" -for admitting the truth-. They will certainly say, `Allâh. ' Say, `All sorts of perfect and true praise belongs to Allâh.' De ki: "Hamd Tanrı'nındır." Hayır, onların çoğu akletmiyorlar. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim Andolsun ki onlara: "Gökden su indirib onunla yeri, ölümünün ardından, canlandıran kimdir?" diye sorarsan "Elbette Allah" derler. De ki: "Hamd Allahındır". Fakat onların çoğu aklını kullanmazlar. ### İbni Kesir Andolsun ki; onlara: Gökten su indirip onunla ölümünden sonra yeri dirilten kimdir? diye sorarsan, elbette; Allah'tır diyecekler. Ama onların çoğu akletmezler. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı Ve hep olduğu gibi, şayet onlara da: "Gökten yağmuru boşaltıp ölü toprağa tekrar hayat veren kimdir?" diye sorarsan, hiç tereddüt etmeden, "Allah'tır!" derler. De ki: "Hamd (övgü), Allah'a layıktır."
