Surah Al-'Ankabut (The Spider) — سورة العنكبوت - **Verse:** 49 / 69 · **Juz:** 21 · **Mushaf page:** 401 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-ankabut/verse-49 ## Arabic بَلْ هُوَ اٰيَاتٌ بَيِّنَاتٌ ف۪ي صُدُورِ الَّذ۪ينَ اُو۫تُوا الْعِلْمَۜ وَمَا يَجْحَدُ بِاٰيَاتِنَٓا اِلَّا الظَّالِمُونَ ## Transcription Bal huwa ayatun bayyinatunfee sudoori allatheena ootoo alAAilma wamayajhadu bi-ayatina illa aththalimoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley No, it is Clear Signs reposited in the hearts of those who have been given knowledge. Only wrongdoers deny Our Signs. ### Progressive Muslims In fact, it is a clear revelation in the chests of those who have been given knowledge. And it is only the wicked who doubt Our revelations. ### Shabbir Ahmed Nay, but this consists of Messages clear to the hearts of all who are gifted with the knowledge of discretion. And none could knowingly reject Our Messages except such as would relegate the Truth. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation The truth is, it is clear proofs in the breasts of those given knowledge. And none rejects Our proofs but the wrongdoers. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation In fact, it is a clear revelation in the chests of those who have been given knowledge. And it is only the wicked who doubt Our revelations. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament In fact, these revelations are clear in the chests of those who possess knowledge. Only the wicked will disregard our revelations. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira In fact, in the minds of those who have intelligence these are clear signs. No one denies Our revelations except those who are unjust. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) Rather, the Qur'an is distinct verses [preserved] within the breasts of those who have been given knowledge. And none reject Our verses except the wrongdoers. ### Muhammad Asad Nay, but this [divine writ] consists of messages clear to the hearts of all who are gifted with [innate] knowledge and none could knowingly reject Our messages unless it be such as would do wrong [to themselves]. ### Marmaduke Pickthall But it is clear revelations in the hearts of those who have been given knowledge, and none deny Our revelations save wrong-doers. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary But it is a set of Clear Signs in the hearts of those who have been endowed with knowledge.[1] None except the utterly unjust will deny Our Signs. _Footnotes_ - [1] That is, the presentation of a Book like the Quran by an unlettered person, and the manifestation by him, all of a sudden, of extraordinary qualities of character while nobody ever noticed him making any preparation for these previously, are in fact the clearest signs which serve as pointers to his prophethood for those who are possessed of knowledge and wisdom." If one reviews the life-story of any great historical personage, one can always discover the factors in his environment, which molded his personality and prepared him for the excellences and qualities that emanated from him in life. There always exists a clear relationship between his environment and the component aspects of his personality. But no source whatever can be discovered in his environment of the wonderful qualities and excellences that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) displayed. In his case, neither in the contemporary Arab society nor in the society of the neighboring countries with which Arabia had any relations can one discover those factors which could have any remote relationship with the component aspects of the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) personality. This is the reality on the basis of which it has been asserted here that the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) personality is not one sign but a collection of many clear signs. An ignorant person may not see any of these signs but those who are possessed of knowledge have become convinced in their hearts by seeing these signs that he is most certainly a true Prophet of Allah. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab But the Quran, is indeed a divine discourse expressing explicitly revelations easily intelligible in the hearts and minds of those who are well founded in knowledge and do-know the facts. And no one denies or rejects Our revelations but the wrongful of actions. ### Bijan Moeinian These revelations, indeed penetrate into the heart of those who possessed knowledge. Only those who betray their souls will disregard My Revelations. ### Al-Hilali & Khan Nay, but they, the clear Ayât [i.e. the description and the qualities of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم written in the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] are preserved in the breasts of those who have been given knowledge (among the people of the Scriptures). And none but the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrongdoers) deny Our Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.).[1] ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Nay, here are Signs self-evident in the hearts of those endowed with knowledge: and none but the unjust reject Our Signs. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran But this ˹Quran˺ is ˹a set of˺ clear revelations ˹preserved˺ in the hearts of those gifted with knowledge. And none denies Our revelations except the ˹stubborn˺ wrongdoers. ### Taqi Usmani But it (the Qur’ān in itself) is (a package of) evident signs in the hearts of those who are given knowledge. And no one rejects our verses except the wrongdoers. ### Abdul Haleem But no, [this Quran] is a revelation that is clear to the hearts of those endowed with knowledge. No one refuses to acknowledge Our revelations but the evildoers. ### Arthur John Arberry Nay; rather it is signs, clear signs in the breasts of those who have been given knowledge; and none denies Our signs but the evildoers. ### E. Henry Palmer Nay, but it is evident signs in the breasts of those who are endued with knowledge, and none but the unjust would gainsay our signs! ### Hamid S. Aziz You (Muhammad) could not recite before this any Book (or Scripture), nor write it with your right hand, for then, indeed, might those who deal (or talk) in vanities (trivialities, falsehoods, irrelevancies) have doubted. ### Mahmoud Ghali No indeed; it (i. e., the Book) is supremely evident signs in the breasts of the ones who have been brought knowledge; and in no way does anyone repudiate Our signs except the unjust. ### George Sale But the same is evident signs in the breasts of those who have received understanding: For none reject our signs, except the unjust. ### Syed Vickar Ahamed No! These are the clear and firm Signs that are in the hearts of those gifted with knowledge: And no one but the unjust reject Our Signs. ### Amatul Rahman Omar Nay, (far from being an invention) this (Qur'ân) is full of clear signs in the minds of those who have been given true knowledge.
