Surah Al-Anfal (The Spoils of War) — سورة الأنفال - **Verse:** 52 / 75 · **Juz:** 10 · **Mushaf page:** 182 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-anfal/verse-52 ## Arabic كَدَأْبِ اٰلِ فِرْعَوْنَۙ وَالَّذ۪ينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْۜ كَفَرُوا بِاٰيَاتِ اللّٰهِ فَاَخَذَهُمُ اللّٰهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ قَوِيٌّ شَد۪يدُ الْعِقَابِ ## Transcription Kada/bi ali firAAawna wallatheenamin qablihim kafaroo bi-ayati Allahi faakhathahumuAllahu bithunoobihim inna Allaha qawiyyunshadeedu alAAiqab ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Such was the case with Pharaoh’s people and those before them. They rejected Allah’s Signs so Allah seized them for their wrong actions. Allah is Strong, Severe in Retribution. ### Progressive Muslims Like the behaviour of the people of Pharaoh, and those before them; they rejected God's signs, so God took them for their sins. They denied the signs of Allah and so Allah seized them for their sins. Surely Allah is All-Powerful, Stern in retribution. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab These peoples' disposition and attitude of mind do not differ from those of the Pharaoh and his people and their predecessors; they denied Allah and rejected His signs and revelations; so great was Allah's indignation against them for their wickedness that He took them by storm. Allah is indeed Qawiyun (Omnipotent); His torment is laid upon the damned. ### Bijan Moeinian The same [misfortune] happened to Pharaoh and his people as well as the previous [unjust] people as they chose to disregard the Lord’s revelations.
