Surah Al-Anbiya (The Prophets) — سورة الأنبياء - **Verse:** 91 / 112 · **Juz:** 17 · **Mushaf page:** 329 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-anbiya/verse-91 ## Arabic وَالَّت۪ٓي اَحْصَنَتْ فَرْجَهَا فَنَفَخْنَا ف۪يهَا مِنْ رُوحِنَا وَجَعَلْنَاهَا وَابْنَهَٓا اٰيَةً لِلْعَالَم۪ينَ ## Transcription Wallatee ahsanat farjahafanafakhna feeha min roohinawajaAAalnaha wabnaha ayatanlilAAalameen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley And she who protected her private parts. We breathed into her some of Our Ruh and made her and her son a Sign for all the worlds. ### Progressive Muslims And the one who protected her chastity, so We blew into her from Our Spirit, and We made her and her son a sign for the worlds. ### Shabbir Ahmed And remember her (Mary) who guarded her chastity (under very adverse circumstances). Besides this in (verse 91), almost similar words have beets used in regard to the birth of Jesus (peace be upon him). See also (Surah An-Nisa, Ayat l71) and( Surah At-Tahrim, Ayat 12). Allah Himself has stated that the birth of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) was just like the birth of Prophet Adam: In the sight of Allah, the case of the birth of Jesus is like that of Adam, whom He created out of dust and said, Be, and he was. (Surah Aal-Imran, Ayat 59). In the light of these verses, we may conclude that Allah uses words like: We breathed into him or her of Our spirit for miraculous births. (For details please see (Surah An-Nisa E.Ns 212-213). - [3] That is, The mother and the son were not partners of God nor had any share whatsoever in Godhead, but were a sign from among the signs of God. (See (Surah Maryam, E.N. 21). ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab And Maryam (Mary) who guarded herself from being supposed and maintained the flower of faith and chastity, and so We sent to her Our Messenger -the Spirit Gabriel-, to breathe life into her and animate a soul in her womb, and We made her and her son Isa (Jesus) an emblem of Our Omnipotence and Authority to be pondered by all people. ### Bijan Moeinian As for virgin Mary, I blew (this word is used here as a figure of speech) in her through My Spirit (Angel Gabriel) and made her and her son (Jesus) a [living] miracle of Mine for the inhabitants of the universe (terrestrials and extra-terrestrials. ) ### Al-Hilali & Khan And she who guarded her chastity [Virgin Maryam (Mary)]: We breathed into (the sleeves of) her (shirt or garment) [through Our Rûh - Jibrîl (Gabriel)],[1] and We made her and her son [‘Îsâ (Jesus)] a sign for Al-‘Âlamîn (the mankind and jinn). ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali And (remember) her who guarded her chastity: We breathed into her of Our spirit, and We made her and her son a sign for all peoples. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran And ˹remember˺ the one who guarded her chastity, so We breathed into her through Our angel, ˹Gabriel,˺[1] making her and her son a sign for all peoples. ### Taqi Usmani And (remember) her who protected her private part (that is, Maryam).
