Surah Al-Anbiya (The Prophets) — سورة الأنبياء - **Verse:** 22 / 112 · **Juz:** 17 · **Mushaf page:** 322 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-anbiya/verse-22 ## Arabic لَوْ كَانَ ف۪يهِمَٓا اٰلِهَةٌ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ لَفَسَدَتَاۚ فَسُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ ## Transcription Law kana feehima alihatunilla Allahu lafasadata fasubhana Allahirabbi alAAarshi AAamma yasifoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley If there had been any gods besides Allah in heaven or earth, they would both be ruined. Glory be to Allah, Lord of the Throne, beyond what they describe! ### Progressive Muslims If there were gods in them except for God, then they would have been ruined. Glory be to God, the Lord of the throne from what they describe. ### Shabbir Ahmed If there were other gods besides God, there would have been chaos in both, the heavens and the earth. Glorified is Allah, the Lord of Supreme Control, above all that they contrive. Much too glorious is God, the Lord of the mighty throne, for things they assert! ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) Had there been within the heavens and earth gods besides Allah, they both would have been ruined. So exalted is Allah , Lord of the Throne, above what they describe. ### Muhammad Asad had there been in heaven or on earth any deities other than God, both [those realms would surely have fallen into ruin! But limitless in His glory is God, enthroned in His awesome almightiness far] above anything that men may devise by way of definition! ### Marmaduke Pickthall If there were therein gods beside Allah, then verily both (the heavens and the earth) had been disordered. Glorified be Allah, the Lord of the Throne, from all that they ascribe (unto Him). ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Had there been any gods in the heavens and the earth apart from Allah, the order of both the heavens and the earth would have gone to ruins.[1] Glory be to Allah, the Lord of the Throne,[2] Who is far above their false descriptions of Him. _Footnotes_ - [1] This concise sentence contains two arguments: - [2] (1) The obviously simple argument is that no institution, no household, not to speak of the vast universe containing multitudes of countless distant stars, can function smoothly and properly, if it has two masters. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Indeed, if there be Ilahs other than Allah or sharing His divine nature and attributes, the heavens and the earth would have become corrupt and been ruined. Therefore, praise be to Allah and extolled are His glorious attributes the sole Sovereign of the Supreme Throne. He is far above what they ascribe to Him. ### Bijan Moeinian If there were any other gods, there would have been chaos in the universe (as is the case in the Greek mythology in which the gods are always fighting among themselves. ) The King of the entire universe is far high above what they ascribe to Him (such as having begotten a son.) ### Al-Hilali & Khan Had there been therein (in the heavens and the earth) âlihah (gods) besides Allâh, then verily both would have been ruined. Glorified be Allâh, the Lord of the Throne, (High is He) above all that (evil) they associate with Him! ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali If there were, in the heavens and the earth, other gods besides Allah, there would have been confusion in both! but glory to Allah, the Lord of the Throne: (High is He) above what they attribute to Him! ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran Had there been other gods besides Allah in the heavens or the earth, both ˹realms˺ would have surely been corrupted. So Glorified is Allah, Lord of the Throne, far above what they claim. ### Taqi Usmani Had there been gods beside Allah, in the heavens and the earth, both of them would have fallen in disorder. Arşın rabbi olan Tanrı onların nitelendiregeldikleri şeylerden yücedir. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim Eğer her ikisinde Allahdan başka Tanrılar olsaydı onların ikisi de muhakkak ki harab olup gitmişdi.
