Surah Al-An'am (The Cattle) — سورة الأنعام - **Verse:** 98 / 165 · **Juz:** 7 · **Mushaf page:** 139 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-anam/verse-98 ## Arabic وَهُوَ الَّـذ۪ٓي اَنْشَاَكُمْ مِنْ نَفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ فَمُسْتَقَرٌّ وَمُسْتَوْدَعٌۜ قَدْ فَصَّلْنَا الْاٰيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَفْقَـهُونَ ## Transcription Wahuwa allathee anshaakum min nafsinwahidatin famustaqarrun wamustawdaAAun qad fassalnaal-ayati liqawmin yafqahoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley It is He Who first produced you from a single self, then from a resting-place and a repository. We have made the Signs clear for people who understand. ### Progressive Muslims And He is the One who initiated you from one person; with a place for stability and development. We have explained the signs to a people who comprehend. ### Shabbir Ahmed And He it is Who initiated you from a single life cell. Then in the process of evolution He appointed stages, from one station to the next destination. (Thus goes on the journey of life here and in the Hereafter (11:6). We have indeed spelled out Our signs for those who can understand.[2] _Footnotes_ - [1] This means that God caused the human race to originate from one human being. - [2] If one were to observe carefully the creation of the human species, its division into male and female, the proliferation of the human race by procreation, the passing of life through its several stages in the womb of the mother from conception to childbirth, one would perceive innumerable signs to help one grasp the truth mentioned above. But only those who make proper use of their intellect can be led by means of these signs to an understanding of Reality. Those who live like animals, who are concerned merely with the satisfaction of their lusts and desires, can perceive nothing significant in these phenomena. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab And He is it who brought you into being from one single soul* then He ordained your prototype in the seed** and He made the earth your destined habitation*** where you live a life that deserves the name until the encounter with death when you are deposited in the graves and in due course be reclaimed for Judgement.
