Surah Al-An'am (The Cattle) — سورة الأنعام - **Verse:** 92 / 165 · **Juz:** 7 · **Mushaf page:** 138 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-anam/verse-92 ## Arabic وَهٰذَا كِتَابٌ اَنْزَلْنَاهُ مُبَارَكٌ مُصَدِّقُ الَّذ۪ي بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلِتُنْذِرَ اُمَّ الْقُرٰى وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَاۜ وَالَّذ۪ينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْاٰخِرَةِ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِه۪ وَهُمْ عَلٰى صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ ## Transcription Wahatha kitabun anzalnahumubarakun musaddiqu allathee bayna yadayhiwalitunthira omma alqura waman hawlahawallatheena yu/minoona bil-akhiratiyu/minoona bihi wahum AAala salatihim yuhafithoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley This is a Book We have sent down and blessed, confirming what came before it, so that you can warn the Mother of Cities* and the people around it. Those who have iman in the akhira believe in it and safeguard their salat. ### Progressive Muslims And this is a Scripture which We have sent down, blessed, authenticating what is present with him, and that you may warn the capital of the towns and those around it. And those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and they are dedicated to their contact-method. ### Shabbir Ahmed And this Qur'an is the Blessed Book that We have sent down, confirming the Divine Origin of what was revealed before it, that you (O Prophet) may warn the Central Town, Makkah, and places around it. (From this Center, the Message will fan out (6:90), (12:104)). Those who believe in (the Law of Recompense) the Hereafter, accept this Book as a comprehensive Guide. And they will establish the Divine System. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And this is a Writ We have sent down, one blessed, confirming what was before it, and that thou warn the mother of cities and those around her; and those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and they preserve their duty. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation And this is a Book which We have sent down, blessed, authenticating what is between his hands, and that you may warn the capital of the towns and those around it. And those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and they maintain their contact prayer. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament This too is a blessed scripture that we have revealed, confirming the previous scriptures, that you may warn the most important community and all those around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter will believe in this (scripture), and will observe the Contact Prayers (Salat)., ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira And this (Qur'an) is another Book that We have revealed, blessed, affirming the earlier (revelations), so that you may warn the people of (Makkah) the town of towns, and those who live around it. Those who believe in the life to come shall believe in it and be watchful of their moral obligations. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) And this is a Book which We have sent down, blessed and confirming what was before it, that you may warn the Mother of Cities and those around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and they are maintaining their prayers. ### Muhammad Asad And this, too, is a divine writ which We have bestowed from on high - blessed, confirming the truth of whatever there still remains [of earlier revelations] -and [this] in order that thou mayest warn the foremost of all cities and all who dwell around it. And those who believe in the life to come do believe in this [warning]; and it is they who are ever-mindful of their prayers. ### Marmaduke Pickthall And this is a blessed Scripture which We have revealed, confirming that which (was revealed) before it, that thou mayst warn the Mother of Villages and those around her. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe herein, and they are careful of their worship. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary (Like that Book) this too is a Book which We have revealed; full of blessing, confirming what was revealed before it so that you might warn the people of the Mother of Cities (Makka) and those around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and are evermindful of their Prayers.[1] _Footnotes_ - [1] The point argued above was that God's word can be, and in the past has been, revealed to human beings. The next point is that the message of Muhammad (peace be on him) is indeed the revealed word of God. In order to establish this, four things are adduced as evidence: First, that this Book is overflowing with God's grace and beneficence. In other words, it contains the best possible principles for the well-being and salvation of mankind. It lays down the true doctrines of belief. It urges man to righteous conduct and inspires him to moral excellence. It contains guidance as to how one may live a life of purity. And above all, it is free from any trace of the ignorance, egocentricity, narrow-mindedness, iniquity, obscenity and other corruptions with which the Jews and the Christians had overlaid their revealed Scriptures. Second, this Book does not propound any guidance which is essentially divergent from that previously revealed; rather it confirms and supports it. Third, the purpose of the revelation of this Book is the same as that of the revelation of Scriptures in the past, viz., to shake people out of their heedlessness and warn them of the evil consequences of their corruption. Fourth, that the call of this Book did not attract those who merely worshipped worldly advantages and were slaves of their animal desires. On the contrary, it attracted those whose vision goes beyond the narrow limits of worldly life. Moreover, the revolution wrought in the lives of people under the influence of this Book has rendered them conspicuously distinct from others in respect of piety and godliness. A Book with such characteristics and with such a wholesome impact on human beings can only be from God. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab And this Quran -is Heaven's- sent Book breeding perpetual benediction, corroborating and authoritatively validating the authentic Books revealed aforetime; Use it Muhammad to warn people of the mother City and the people of all cities around. It is a Book highly credited by those who acknowledge the truth of the Hereafter and regularly observe their act of worship. ### Bijan Moeinian Here is a blessed book [free of falsified insertions] revealed to confirm [ and be used to separate falsified portions from authentic part of] the previous Scriptures and to warn the inhabitants of the metropolis and its surroundings. Those who believe in Hereafter will believe in it (Qur'an) and worship the Lord on regular daily basis. ### Al-Hilali & Khan And this (the Qur’ân) is a blessed Book which We have sent down, confirming (the revelations) which came before it, so that you may warn the Mother of Towns (i.e. Makkah) and all those around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it (the Qur’ân), and they are constant in guarding their Salât (prayers). ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali And this is a Book which We have sent down, bringing blessings, and confirming (the revelations) which came before it: that thou mayest warn the mother of cities and all around her. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in this (Book), and they are constant in guarding their prayers. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran This is a blessed Book which We have revealed—confirming what came before it—so you may warn the Mother of Cities[1] and everyone around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter ˹truly˺ believe in it and guard their prayers. ### Taqi Usmani This is indeed a Blessed Book We have sent down, confirming what was (revealed) before it, so that you may warn the town which is the Mother of All Towns, (i.e. Makkah) and those around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and they take due care of their prayers. ### Abdul Haleem This is a blessed Scripture that We have sent down to confirm what came before it and for you to warn the Mother of Cities and all around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in this Scripture, and do not neglect their prayers. ### Arthur John Arberry This is a Book We have sent down, blessed and confirming that which was before it, and for thee to warn the Mother of Cities and those about her; and those who believe in the world to come believe in it, and watch over their prayers. ### E. Henry Palmer This is the Book which we have revealed, a blessing and a confirmation to those which were before it, and that the mother of cities may be warned, with those who are round about her. Those who believe in the last day believe therein, and they unto their prayers will keep. ### Hamid S. Aziz This is the Book which We have revealed, bringing blessing and confirming those which came before it, and to warn the Mother of Cities (Mecca) and those around her. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe therein, and they are steadfast in their worship. ### Mahmoud Ghali And this is a Book We have sent down, blessed (and) sincerely (verifying) that which was before (Literally: between its two hands) it, and for you to warn the Mother of the Towns (Makkah) and whomever are around it; and the ones who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and they (constantly) preserve their prayer. ### George Sale And this is a Book which We have revealed, full of blessings, to fulfill that which preceded it, and to enable thee to warn the Mother of towns and those around her. And those, who believe in the Hereafter, believe therein and they strictly observe their Prayers. ### Syed Vickar Ahamed And this is a Book which We have sent down, bringing blessings, and confirming (the Revelations) which came before it: That you may warn the (people living in the) mother of Cities (Makkah) and all around her; Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in this (Book) and those who constantly guard over their Prayers. ### Amatul Rahman Omar And (similar to the Torah is) this splendid Book which We have revealed, full of blessings, completing (in a comprehensive from all the Divine Messages) which were before it, and (is revealed) that you may warn (the people of) this centre of cities (-the Makkans) and (the people of the places) all around it (-the people of the whole world). And those who believe in the Hereafter believe also in this (Qur'ân), and they are most careful about (performing) their Prayer. ### Ali Quli Qarai Blessed is this Book which We have sent down, confirming what was [revealed] before it, so that you may warn the Mother of Cities and those around it.
