Surah Al-An'am (The Cattle) — سورة الأنعام - **Verse:** 80 / 165 · **Juz:** 7 · **Mushaf page:** 136 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-anam/verse-80 ## Arabic وَحَٓاجَّهُ قَوْمُهُۜ قَالَ اَتُحَٓاجُّٓونّ۪ي فِي اللّٰهِ وَقَدْ هَدٰينِۜ وَلَٓا اَخَافُ مَا تُشْرِكُونَ بِه۪ٓ اِلَّٓا اَنْ يَشَٓاءَ رَبّ۪ي شَيْـٔاًۜ وَسِعَ رَبّ۪ي كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عِلْماًۜ اَفَلَا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ ## Transcription Wahajjahu qawmuhu qala atuhajjoonneefee Allahi waqad hadani wala akhafu matushrikoona bihi illa an yashaa rabbee shay-anwasiAAa rabbee kulla shay-in AAilman afala tatathakkaroon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley His people argued with him. He said, ‘Are you arguing with me about Allah when He has guided me? I have no fear of any partner you ascribe to Him unless my Lord should will such a thing to happen. My Lord encompasses all things in His knowledge so will you not pay heed? ### Progressive Muslims And his people debated with him. He said: "Do you debate with me regarding God, when He has guided me I do not fear that which you have set up except if my Lord wishes it so; my Lord encompasses all things with knowledge; will you not remember" ### Shabbir Ahmed His people argued with him, but Abraham said, "You dispute with me about Allah when He has guided me? I have no fear of the idols you set up. Nothing can happen to me contrary to the Laws of Allah. My Lord's Knowledge encompasses all things. Will you not then, use your intellect?" He said: "Do you debate with me regarding God, when He has guided me? He said, "Do you argue with me about GOD, after He has guided me? I have no fear of the idols you set up. Nothing can happen to me, unless my Lord wills it. My Lord's knowledge encompasses all things. Would you not take heed? ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira His people argued, and he said: "Do you argue with me about God? He has guided me already, and I fear not what you associate with Him, unless my Lord wills, for held within the knowledge of my Lord is everything. Will you not reflect? ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) And his people argued with him. He said, "Do you argue with me concerning Allah while He has guided me? And I fear not what you associate with Him [and will not be harmed] unless my Lord should will something. But I do not fear anything to which you ascribe divinity side by side with Him, [for no evil can befall me] unless my Sustainer so wills. All things does my Sustainer embrace within His knowledge; will you not, then, keep this in mind? ### Marmaduke Pickthall His people argued with him. He said: Dispute ye with me concerning Allah when He hath guided me? I fear not at all that which ye set up beside Him unless my Lord willeth aught. My Lord includeth all things in His knowledge. Will ye not then remember? ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary His. people remonstrated with him whereupon Abraharn said: 'Do you remonstrate with me concerning Allah Who has guided me to the right way? I do not fear those whom you associate with Allah in His divinity. Only that which my Lord wills, indeed that alone will come by. My Lord embraces all things within His knowledge. Will you not take heed?[1] _Footnotes_ - [1] The word used here is tadhakkur which conveys the sense that somebody who had been either heedless or negligent of something suddenly wakes up to its true meaning. The purpose of Abraham's statement was to recall them to their senses by reminding them that their true Lord was not uninformed about their deeds, for His knowledge encompasses everything. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab His people contended with him with opposing arguments against the thought of one Allah and warned him of their indignation. But he said to them: "Do you contend with me with opposing arguments against Allah Who has guided me to His path of righteousness!" "I do not regard with fear those deities whom you incorporate with Him nor shall I be in harm's way unless it be Allah's will. Allah, My Creator is Omnipresent, and His Omniscience embraces all in all; can you not reflect!" ### Bijan Moeinian Then Abraham's people started to dispute with him. He replied: "Do you argue with me about the Lord while He is the One Who has blessed me with His guidance in person? I am definitely not afraid of your "gods;" after all, nothing can happen to me without the approval of God. My Lord is knowledgeable over everything. Is it not time that you come to your senses and worship Him?" ### Al-Hilali & Khan His people disputed with him. He said: "Do you dispute with me concerning Allâh while He has guided me, and I fear not those whom you associate with Him (Allâh) in worship. (Nothing can happen to me) except when my Lord (Allâh) wills something. My Lord comprehends in His Knowledge all things. Will you not then remember? ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali His people disputed with him. He said: "(Come) ye to dispute with me, about Allah, when He (Himself) hath guided me? I fear not (the beings) ye associate with Allah: Unless my Lord willeth, (nothing can happen). My Lord comprehendeth in His knowledge all things. Will ye not (yourselves) be admonished? ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran And his people argued with him. He responded, "Are you arguing with me about Allah, while He has guided me? I am not afraid of whatever ˹idols˺ you associate with Him—˹none can harm me,˺ unless my Lord so wills. My Lord encompasses everything in ˹His˺ knowledge. Will you not be mindful? ### Taqi Usmani His people argued with him. He said, "Do you argue with me about Allah while He has already led me to the right path? I do not fear that which you associate with Him, (because it cannot harm me), unless, of course, something is willed by my Lord. My Lord encompasses everything with His knowledge. Would you, then, take no lesson? ### Abdul Haleem His people argued with him, and he said, ‘How can you argue with me about God when He has guided me? I do not fear anything you associate with Him: unless my Lord wills [nothing can happen]. My Lord encompasses everything in His knowledge. How can you not take heed? ### Arthur John Arberry His people disputed with him. He said, 'Do you dispute with me concerning God, and He has guided me? He said, "Do you dispute with me concerning Allah, when He has guided me? But I fear not what you associate with Him; unless my Lord should wish it (nothing can happen). He said, "Do you argue with me concerning Allah, and He has already guided me? And I do not fear what you associate with Him, except my Lord will decide anything. He said, 'Do you argue with me concerning Allah when He has guided me aright? And I fear not that which you associate with HIM' except that I fear what my Lord wills. He said: "Do you (come to) dispute with me, about Allah, when He (Himself) has guided me? I do not fear (the beings) that you associate with Allah; Unless my Lord wills, (nothing can happen). My Lord masters all things in His knowledge. Will you not remember? ### Amatul Rahman Omar His people tried to overpower him in argument, he said, `Do you argue with me regarding Allâh, when He (Himself) has already guided me aright? And I fear not, in anyway, the things you worship besides Him, unless it is my Lord Who wills some (harm to me, it is a different) thing. My Lord comprehends all things in His knowledge. Will you not even then take admonition? ### Ali Quli Qarai His people argued with him. He said, ‘Do you argue with me concerning Allah, while He has guided me for certain? I do not fear what you ascribe to Him as [His] partners, excepting anything that my Lord may wish. My Lord embraces all things in [His] knowledge. O da dedi ki: "Bana hakikatı doğrudan doğruya gösterdiği halde Allah hakkında benimle mücadeleye mi kalkışıyorsunuz? Sizin O'na ortak koştuğunuz şeylerden ise, ben hiçbir zaman korkmam. Rabbim dilemedikçe onlar bana hiçbir şey yapamaz. Rabbimin ilmi, herşeyi kuşatmıştır. Artık iyice bir düşünmez misiniz? ### Gültekin Onan Kavmi onunla çekişip tartışmaya girdi. Dedi ki: "O beni doğru yola erdirmişken, siz benimle Tanrı konusunda çekişip tartışmaya mı girişiyorsunuz? Sizin O'na şirk koştuklarınızdan ben korkmuyorum, ancak Tanrı'nın benim hakkımda bir şey dilemesi başka. rabbim ilim bakımından her şeyi kuşatmıştır. Hala düşünüp öğüt almayacak mısınız? ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı Ve (sonra) halkı onunla tartışmaya girdi. (Bunun üzerine) onlara: "Beni doğru yola ileten O iken benimle Allah hakkında hala tartışıyor musunuz? Ama Ondan başka ilahlık yakıştırdığınız hiçbir şeyden korkmuyorum, (zira hiçbir kötülük bana dokunmaz) Rabbim dilemedikçe.
