Surah Al-An'am (The Cattle) — سورة الأنعام - **Verse:** 6 / 165 · **Juz:** 7 · **Mushaf page:** 127 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-anam/verse-6 ## Arabic اَلَمْ يَرَوْا كَمْ اَهْلَكْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ مِنْ قَرْنٍ مَكَّنَّاهُمْ فِي الْاَرْضِ مَا لَمْ نُمَكِّنْ لَكُمْ وَاَرْسَلْنَا السَّمَٓاءَ عَلَيْهِمْ مِدْرَاراًۖ وَجَعَلْنَا الْاَنْهَارَ تَجْر۪ي مِنْ تَحْتِهِمْ فَاَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَاَنْشَأْنَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ قَرْناً اٰخَر۪ينَ ## Transcription Alam yaraw kam ahlakna min qablihimmin qarnin makkannahum fee al-ardi ma lamnumakkin lakum waarsalna assamaa AAalayhimmidraran wajaAAalna al-anhara tajree min tahtihimfaahlaknahum bithunoobihim waansha/na minbaAAdihim qarnan akhareen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them which We had established on the earth far more firmly than We have established you? We sent down heaven upon them in abundant rain and made rivers flow under them. But We destroyed them for their wrong actions and raised up further generations after them. ### Progressive Muslims Did they not see how many generations We have destroyed before them We granted them dominance over the land more than what We granted you, and We sent the clouds to them abundantly, and We made rivers flow beneath them; then We destroyed them for their sins, and established after them a new generation. ### Shabbir Ahmed Do they not see how many a generation Our Law of Requital has annihilated before them? We had established them on earth more firmly than you, and We gave them plenty of blessings of the heavens and the earth, abundant showers from the sky and rivers flowing beneath them. People whom We had made more powerful in the earth than you are and upon them We showered from the heavens abundant rains, and at whose feet We caused the rivers to flow? And then (when they behaved ungratefully) We destroyed them for their sins, and raised other peoples in their place. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Did they not perceive by sight, apprehend by thought and learn by reading how many generations have We destroyed! generations who came to this world before them, endowed with power and ability, diligence and' capacities of action, wealth and knowledge, mental receiving power and talent and with many qualities which total up to a much higher degree than those summed up in you people. We poured down upon them rain and blessings bringing them into a people of condition and We made the rivers run beneath their settled habitations. But in consequence of their ingratitude and inordinate self -esteem, We destroyed them in requital of their transgression of the divine law, their offences against Allah and their violation of the religious and moral principles. We replaced them by other people who listened to reason and whose prudence got the better of their pride. ### Bijan Moeinian Are they not afraid to be doomed like those generation who had to face my punishment. The latter were blessed even more than what these people are blessed with. I sent down rain from the sky and made the rivers to flow under their land; yet I destroyed them in account of their sins and replaced them with other generations. ### Al-Hilali & Khan Have they not seen how many a generation before them We have destroyed whom We had established on the earth such as We have not established you?
