Surah Al-An'am (The Cattle) — سورة الأنعام - **Verse:** 44 / 165 · **Juz:** 7 · **Mushaf page:** 131 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-anam/verse-44 ## Arabic فَلَمَّا نَسُوا مَا ذُكِّرُوا بِه۪ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ اَبْوَابَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍۜ حَتّٰٓى اِذَا فَرِحُوا بِمَٓا اُو۫تُٓوا اَخَذْنَاهُمْ بَغْتَةً فَاِذَا هُمْ مُبْلِسُونَ ## Transcription Falamma nasoo ma thukkiroobihi fatahna AAalayhim abwaba kulli shay-in hattaitha farihoo bima ootoo akhathnahumbaghtatan fa-itha hum mublisoon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley When they forgot what they had been reminded of, We opened up for them the doors to everything, until, when they were exulting in what they had been given, We suddenly seized them and at once they were in despair. ### Progressive Muslims So when they forgot what they had been reminded of, We opened for them the gates of all opportunities; and when they were happy with what they were given, We took them suddenly! They were confounded. ### Shabbir Ahmed They ignored the Message, and persisted in their ways. We opened for them the gates of all things and they kept enjoying life exploiting others (16:112). But the Law of Requital is ever vigilant. Social orders based on injustice and inequities eventually fail. In response, they got totally involved in [nothing but the] entertainment and vanities.
