Surah Al-An'am (The Cattle) — سورة الأنعام - **Verse:** 161 / 165 · **Juz:** 8 · **Mushaf page:** 149 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-anam/verse-161 ## Arabic قُلْ اِنَّن۪ي هَدٰين۪ي رَبّ۪ٓي اِلٰى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَق۪يمٍۚ د۪يناً قِيَماً مِلَّةَ اِبْرٰه۪يمَ حَن۪يفاًۚ وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ الْمُشْرِك۪ينَ ## Transcription Qul innanee hadanee rabbee ilasiratin mustaqeemin deenan qiyaman millata ibraheemahaneefan wama kana mina almushrikeen ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Say: ‘My Lord has guided me to a straight path, a well-founded deen, the religion of Ibrahim, a man of pure natural belief. He was not one of the idolaters.’ ### Progressive Muslims Say: "My Lord has guided me to a Straight Path, an upright system, the creed of Abraham the monotheist; he was not from those who set up partners. " ### Shabbir Ahmed Say, "As for me, my Lord has guided me to a Straight Path, the perfect DEEN of Abraham, the upright, who was no idolater in any sense. And he was not among those who associated others with Allah." ### Muhammad Asad SAY: "Behold, my Sustainer has guided me onto a straight way through an ever-true faith-the way of Abraham, who turned away from all that is false, and wa,. not of those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him." ### Marmaduke Pickthall Say: Lo! As for me, my Lord hath guided me unto a straight path, a right religion, the community of Abraham, the upright, who was no idolater. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Say: 'As for me, my Lord has guided me on to a straight way, a right religion, the way of Abraham[1] who adopted it in exclusive devotion to Allah, and he was not of those who associated others with Allah in His divinity.' _Footnotes_ - [1] The 'Way of Abraham' is one further indication of the way of true religion which one is required to follow. This way could also have been designated as the way of Moses or of Jesus But since their names have become falsely associated with Judaism and Christianity respectively, it was necessary to call it the 'Way of Abraham'. Moreover, Abraham was acknowledged by both the Jews and the Christians as rightly-guided and both knew, of course, that he lived long before either Judaism or Christianity was born. In the same way, the polytheists of Arabia also considered Abraham to be rightly-guided. Despite their ignorance, they at least acknowledged that that righteous man, who had founded the Ka'bah, was a worshipper of God exclusively and no idolator. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Say to them O Muhammad: "Allah, my Creator, has guided me to the path of glory, the path of moral straightness, goodness and integrity, virtue and piety; the path of righteousness, the path on which was founded the religion of Ibrahim, the Orthodox Muslim, who never incorporated with Allah other deities". ### Bijan Moeinian Say: "My Lord has guided me on the Straight Path, the ever True Faith, the same Way paved whole heartedly by Abraham: the one who worshipped none but the Lord.
