Surah Al-An'am (The Cattle) — سورة الأنعام - **Verse:** 111 / 165 · **Juz:** 8 · **Mushaf page:** 141 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-anam/verse-111 ## Arabic وَلَوْ اَنَّـنَا نَزَّلْـنَٓا اِلَيْهِمُ الْمَلٰٓئِكَةَ وَكَلَّمَهُمُ الْمَوْتٰى وَحَشَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ قُبُلاً مَا كَانُوا لِيُؤْمِنُٓوا اِلَّٓا اَنْ يَشَٓاءَ اللّٰهُ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَهُمْ يَجْهَلُونَ ## Transcription Walaw annana nazzalnailayhimu almala-ikata wakallamahumu almawta wahasharnaAAalayhim kulla shay-in qubulan ma kanoo liyu/minooilla an yashaa Allahu walakinnaaktharahum yajhaloon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Even if We sent down angels to them, and the dead spoke to them, and We gathered together everything in front of them right before their eyes, they would still not have iman unless Allah willed. The truth is that most of them are ignorant. ### Progressive Muslims And if We had sent down to them the Angels, and the dead spoke to them, and We had gathered before them everything, they still would not believe except if God wills. But most of them are ignorant. ### Shabbir Ahmed Even if We caused the angels to descend to them, and the dead to speak to them, and We lined up all the miracles before them, they would not believe. Howbeit, most of them are ignorant. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Even if We had sent angels down to them and the dead had spoken to them, and even if We had assembled before them all the things, face to face, they would still not believe unless it be Allah's will that they believe.[1] Most of them behave in utter ignorance. _Footnotes_ - [1] The people under discussion are so perverse that they do not prefer to embrace the Truth in preference to falsehood by rightly exercising their choice and volition. The only way that is left for them to become lovers of the Truth is, therefore, that by His overpowering will God should render them truth-loving not by their choice and volition, but by metamorphizing their very nature. Such a course, however, goes against the wisdom which underlies the creation of man. Hence it is futile to expect God to intervene in the matter and to force those people to believe by the exercise of His will. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Had We sent down angels whom they could perceive by sight and resurrected for them the dead to discourse with them practical divinity, and thronged before their eyes, beings, matters and affairs of the spiritual world, they would not have acknowledged the truth nor would they have conformed to Islam unless it be the will of Allah. But most of them are so ignorant to realize this fact. ### Bijan Moeinian Even if I send the angles to them (as this miracle was presented to the previous nations), even if I make the dead to speak (as this miracle was presented through Jesus), even if I present all unknown things to them, they will not believe unless God wills it (and it is not the will of God to deprive them of their freedom of choice so that they do not have any choice but to believe. ) Indeed most of them are [and choose to remain] ignorant. ### Al-Hilali & Khan And even if We had sent down unto them angels, and the dead had spoken unto them, and We had gathered together all things before their very eyes, they would not have believed, unless Allâh willed, but most of them behave ignorantly. ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Even if We did send unto them angels, and the dead did speak unto them, and We gathered together all things before their very eyes, they are not the ones to believe, unless it is in Allah's plan. Fakat onların çoğu bu gerçeği bilmezler. ### Gültekin Onan Gerçek şu ki, biz onlara melekler indirseydik, onlarla ölüler konuşsaydı ve herşeyi karşılarına toplasaydık, -Tanrı'nın dilediği dışında- yine onlar inanmayacaklardı.
