And they swore by God their strongest oaths that if a proof came to them they would believe in it. Say thou: “The proofs are only with God.” And what will make you perceive that, if one comes, they will not believe?

وَاَقْسَمُوا بِاللّٰهِ جَهْدَ اَيْمَانِهِمْ لَئِنْ جَٓاءَتْهُمْ اٰيَةٌ لَيُؤْمِنُنَّ بِهَاۜ قُلْ اِنَّمَا الْاٰيَاتُ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ وَمَا يُشْعِرُكُمْۙ اَنَّـهَٓا اِذَا جَٓاءَتْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
Waaqsamoo billahi jahda aymanihimla-in jaat-hum ayatun layu/minunna biha qulinnama al-ayatu AAinda Allahi wamayushAAirukum annaha itha jaat layu/minoon

    They have sworn by Allah with their most earnest oaths that if a Sign comes to them they will have iman in it. Say: ‘The Signs are in Allah’s control alone.’ What will make you realise that even if a Sign did come, they would still not have iman?
