Surah Al-An'am (The Cattle) — سورة الأنعام - **Verse:** 108 / 165 · **Juz:** 7 · **Mushaf page:** 140 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-anam/verse-108 ## Arabic وَلَا تَسُبُّوا الَّذ۪ينَ يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللّٰهِ فَيَسُبُّوا اللّٰهَ عَدْواً بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍۜ كَذٰلِكَ زَيَّنَّا لِكُلِّ اُمَّةٍ عَمَلَهُمْ ثُمَّ اِلٰى رَبِّهِمْ مَرْجِعُهُمْ فَيُنَبِّئُهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ ## Transcription Wala tasubboo allatheenayadAAoona min dooni Allahi fayasubboo AllahaAAadwan bighayri AAilmin kathalika zayyanna likulliommatin AAamalahum thumma ila rabbihim marjiAAuhumfayunabbi-ohum bima kanoo yaAAmaloon ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley Do not curse those they call upon besides Allah, in case that makes them curse Allah in animosity, without knowledge. In this way We make the actions of every nation seem attractive to them. Then they will return to their Lord, and He will inform them about what they did. ### Progressive Muslims And do not insult those who call on other than God, lest they insult God without knowledge. And We have similarly adorned for every nation their works; then to their Lord is their return and He will inform them of what they had done. ### Shabbir Ahmed O Believers! Insult not the idols they set up besides Allah. They might insult Allah in their ignorance and hurt themselves. To every community Our Law has made their deeds seem fair. Then unto their Lord is their return and He will inform them what they accomplished and He will make them understand what they really used to do in life. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation And revile not those to whom they call besides God lest they revile God in enmity without knowledge. Thus, to every community have We made fair their doings; then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them of what they did. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation And do not insult those who call on other than God, lest they insult God out of ignorance. And We have similarly adorned for every nation their works; then to their Lord is their return and He will inform them of what they had done. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament Do not curse the idols they set up beside GOD, lest they blaspheme and curse GOD, out of ignorance. We have adorned the works of every group in their eyes. Ultimately, they return to their Lord, then He informs them of everything they had done. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira Do not revile those who invoke others apart from God, lest they begin to revile God out of malice and ignorance. We have made attractive their deeds to every people. They have to go back to their Lord, when He will tell them what they used to do. ### Sahih International — (Umm Muhammad, Mary Kennedy, Amatullah Bantley) And do not insult those they invoke other than Allah, lest they insult Allah in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them about what they used to do. ### Muhammad Asad But do not revile those [beings] whom they invoke instead of God, lest they revile God out of spite, and in ignorance: for, goodly indeed have We made their own doings appear unto every community In time, [however,] unto their Sustainer they must return: and then He will make them [truly] understand all that they were doing. ### Marmaduke Pickthall Revile not those unto whom they pray beside Allah lest they wrongfully revile Allah through ignorance. Thus unto every nation have We made their deed seem fair. Then unto their Lord is their return, and He will tell them what they used to do. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary Do not revile those whom they invoke other than Allah, because they will revile Allah in ignorance out of spite. [1] For We have indeed made the deeds of every people seem fair to them.[2] Tlen, their return is to their Lord and He will inform them of what they have done. _Footnotes_ - [1] The Prophet (peace be on him) and his followers are admonished not to allow their proselytizing zeal to dominate them so that their polemics and controversial religious discussions either lead them to be offensive to the beliefs of non-Muslims or to abuse their religious leaders and deities. Far from bringing people closer to the Truth, such an attitude is likely to alienate them from it further. - [2] Here we should bear in mind, as we have pointed out earlier, that God declares those things which take place as a result of the operation of the laws of nature to be His own acts, for it is He Who has rnade those laws. Whatever results from the operation of those laws, therefore, results from His command. Whenever God states that a certain act was His, the same might be described by humans as occurring in the natural course of things. ### Abdel Khalek Himmat — Al- Muntakhab Do not assail those who incorporate with Allah other deities nor their idols with abusive language conveying injurious reproach lest they should revile Allah in retaliation by want of thought. Thus did We allure every nation acting upon a given belief to brighter present and happier destiny, then back to Allah, their Creator, all are destined to go, there and then shall He inform them of all that their minds and souls had impelled them to do. ### Bijan Moeinian Do not use bad language when you refer to their gods; unless they disrespect the Lord in their ignorance. After all, I have made every nations' deeds seeming good in their eyes! In the end they will return to their Lord and will be notified of their wrongdoings. ### Al-Hilali & Khan And insult not those whom they (disbelievers) worship besides Allâh, lest they insult Allâh wrongfully without knowledge. Thus We have made fair-seeming to each people its own doings; then to their Lord is their return and He shall then inform them of all that they used to do.[1] ### Abdullah Yusuf Ali Revile not ye those whom they call upon besides Allah, lest they out of spite revile Allah in their ignorance. Thus have We made alluring to each people its own doings. In the end will they return to their Lord, and We shall then tell them the truth of all that they did. ### Mustafa Khattab — The Clear Quran ˹O believers!˺ Do not insult what they invoke besides Allah or they will insult Allah spitefully out of ignorance. This is how We have made each people’s deeds appealing to them. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them of what they used to do. ### Taqi Usmani Do not revile those whom they invoke other than Allah, lest they should revile Allah in transgression without having knowledge. This is how We have made the deeds of every community attractive in their sight. Then, to their Lord is their return, after which He shall tell them what they have been doing. ### Abdul Haleem [Believers], do not revile those they call on beside God in case they, in their hostility and ignorance, revile God. To each community We make their own actions seem alluring, but in the end they will return to their Lord and He will inform them of all they did. ### Arthur John Arberry Abuse not those to whom they pray, apart from God, or they will abuse God in revenge without knowledge. So We have decked out fair to every nation their deeds; then to their Lord they shall return, and He will tell them what they have been doing. ### E. Henry Palmer Do not abuse those who call on other than God, for then they may abuse God openly in their ignorance. So do we make seemly to every nation their work, then unto their Lord is their return, and He will inform them of what they have done. ### Hamid S. Thus We have adorned (i.e., made attractive) to every nation their deed (s); thereafter to their Lord will be their return; so He will fully inform them of whatever they were doing. ### George Sale And abuse not those whom they call upon besides Allah, lest they, out of spite, abuse Allah in their ignorance. Thus unto every people have We caused their doings to seem fair. Then unto their Lord is their return; And He will inform them of what they used to do. ### Syed Vickar Ahamed Do not be abusive towards those whom they call upon besides Allah, lest out of anger, they may be abusive towards Allah, in their ignorance. So have We made attractive to each people its own doings. In the end, they will return to their Lord, and We shall then tell them the truth of all that they did. ### Amatul Rahman Omar Do not revile those whom they call upon besides Allâh, lest they should revile Allâh transgressingly (and) through lack of knowledge. Just We made their deeds fair-seeming to them so have We made to each people fairseeming what they do. Then to their Lord is their return, so He will inform them as to what they have been doing. ### Ali Quli Qarai Do not abuse those whom they invoke besides Allah, lest they should abuse Allah out of hostility, without any knowledge. That is how to every people We have made their conduct seem decorous. Then their return will be to their Lord and He will inform them concerning what they used to do. ### Ahmed Hulusi — Türkçe Kur'an Çözümü Allah dunundaki tanrılarına sövmeyin. . . (Onlar da cevaben) cahilliklerinden dolayı haddi aşarak Allah'a söverler! İşte böylece her topluluğa yaptıklarını bezeyip güzel gösterdik. . . Sonra dönüşleri Rablerinedir. . . Artık O, ne yaptıklarını kendilerine bildirecektir. ### Diyanet İşleri — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Meali Onların, Allah'ı bırakıp tapındıklarına sövmeyin, sonra onlar da haddi aşarak, bilgisizce Allah'a söverler. Böylece her ümmete yaptıklarını süslü gösterdik. Sonra dönüşleri ancak Rablerinedir. O, yapmakta olduklarını kendilerine bildirecektir. ### Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır — Kur'an-ı Kerim ve Yüce Meali Maamafih onların Allahdan beride taptıklarına sebb de etmeyin ki cehaletle tecavüz ederek Allaha sebbetmesinler; her ümmete böyle amellerini tezyin etmişizdir, sonra ise hep dönüp Allaha varacaklar, o vakıt kendilerine temamen haber verecek ne yapıyorlardı ### Elmalılı (sadeleştirilmiş) Buna rağmen onların Allah'tan başka taptıklarına sövmeyin ki, onlar da cahillikle Allah'a sövmesinler. Her millete yaptıklarını böyle güzel göstermişizdir. Sonra hep dönüp Allah'a varacaklar. O zaman O, kendilerine ne yaptıklarını tamamen haber verecek. ### Gültekin Onan Tanrı'dan başka yalvarıp yakardıklarına (taptıklarına) sövmeyin; sonra onlar da haddi aşarak bilmeksizin Tanrı'ya söverler. İşte böyle, biz her ümmete yaptıklarını süslü (çekici) gösterdik, sonra onların son varışları rablerinedir. O, yapmakta olduklarını onlara haber verecektir. ### Hasan Basri Çantay — Kur'an-ı Hakim ve Meal-i Kerim Allahdan başkasını (Tanrı edinerek) çağıranlara sövmeyin. Sonra onlar da haddi aşarak nadanlıkta Allaha söverler. Biz her ümmetin yapdıklarını (kendilerine) öylece hoş gösterdik. Sonunda, dönüşleri yalınız Rablerinedir. Artık O, ne yapıyor idiyseler kendilerine haber verecekdir. ### İbni Kesir Allah'tan başka yalvardıklarına sövmeyin ki; onlar da bilmeyerek, haddi aşıp Allah'a sövmesinler. İşte böylece bir ümmete yaptıklarını hoş gösterdik. Sonra dönüşleri Rabblarınadır. Artık O, kendilerine ne yapmakta olduklarını haber verir. ### Muhammed Esed — Kur'an Mesajı Onların Allahtan başka yalvarıp sığındıkları (varlıklar)a sövmeyin ki onlar da kin ve cehaletten dolayı Allaha sövmesinler: zira Biz her topluma kendi yaptıklarını güzel gösterdik. (Ama) zaman geldiğinde onlar Rablerine döneceklerdir: O zaman Allah onlara bütün yaptıklarını (en doğru şekilde) anlatacaktır. ### Şaban Piriş — Kur'an-ı Kerim Türkçe Anlamı Müşriklerin, Allah'tan başka yalvardıklarına sövmeyin ki, onlar da taşkınlık ederek cahilce Allah'a sövmesinler. Her toplumun yaptığını böyle süslemişizdir.
