Surah Al-Ahzab (The Clans) — سورة الأحزاب - **Verse:** 8 / 73 · **Juz:** 21 · **Mushaf page:** 418 - **Source:** https://quran.so/surah-al-ahzab/verse-8 ## Arabic لِيَسْـَٔلَ الصَّادِق۪ينَ عَنْ صِدْقِهِمْۚ وَاَعَدَّ لِلْكَافِر۪ينَ عَذَاباً اَل۪يماً۟ ## Transcription Liyas-ala assadiqeena AAan sidqihimwaaAAadda lilkafireena AAathaban aleema ## Translations ### Aisha Bewley so that He would be able to question the sadiqun about their sincerity; and He has prepared a painful punishment for the kafirun. ### Progressive Muslims So that the truthful may be asked about their truthfulness, and He has prepared for the rejecters a painful retribution. ### Shabbir Ahmed That he might assign responsibility only to the truthful. And to warn that He has readied grievous suffering for the rejecters. ### Sam Gerrans — The Qur'an: A Complete Revelation That He might question the truthful about their truthfulness; and He has prepared for the false claimers of guidance a painful punishment. ### The Monotheist Group — The Quran: A Monotheist Translation So that the truthful may be asked about their truthfulness, and He has prepared for the rejecters a painful retribution. ### Rashad Khalifa — The Final Testament Subsequently, He will surely question the truthful about their truthfulness, and has prepared for the disbelievers (in this Quranic fact) a painful retribution. ### Mohamed Ahmed - Samira (It was) so that God may ask the truthful of their sincerity. And He has prepared for the disbelievers a painful punishment. ### Muhammad Asad so that [at the end of time] He might ask those men of truth as to [what response] their truthfulness [had received on earth]. And grievous suffering has He readied for all who deny the truth! ### Marmaduke Pickthall That He may ask the loyal of their loyalty. And He hath prepared a painful doom for the unfaithful. ### Abul A'la Maududi — Tafhim commentary so that (their Lord) may question the truthful about their truthfulness.[1] As for the unbelievers, He has kept a painful chastisement in store for them.[2] _Footnotes_ - [1] That is, Allah has not just taken the covenant but will also question as to how far it has been kept.
