_In the name of God, the Almighty, the Merciful._

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ

## Verse 1

وَالذَّارِيَاتِ ذَرْواًۙ

Waththariyati tharwa

By those scattering, dispersing,

## Verse 2

فَالْحَامِلَاتِ وِقْراًۙ

Falhamilati wiqra

And those bearing a burden,

## Verse 3

فَالْجَارِيَاتِ يُسْراًۙ

Faljariyati yusra

And those sailing with ease,

## Verse 4

فَالْمُقَسِّمَاتِ اَمْراًۙ

Falmuqassimati amra

And those distributing by command!

## Verse 5

اِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَصَادِقٌۙ

Innama tooAAadoona lasadiq

What you are promised is true,

## Verse 6

وَاِنَّ الدّ۪ينَ لَوَاقِـعٌۜ

Wa-inna addeena lawaqiAA

And the Judgment will befall.

## Verse 7

وَالسَّمَٓاءِ ذَاتِ الْحُبُكِۙ

Wassama-i thati alhubuk

By the sky full of pathways

## Verse 8

اِنَّكُمْ لَف۪ي قَوْلٍ مُخْتَلِفٍۙ

Innakum lafee qawlin mukhtalif

You are in speech differing!

## Verse 9

يُؤْفَكُ عَنْهُ مَنْ اُفِكَۜ

Yu/faku AAanhu man ofik

Deluded away from it is he who is deluded.

## Verse 10

قُتِلَ الْخَرَّاصُونَۙ

Qutila alkharrasoon

Damned be those who guess:

## Verse 11

اَلَّذ۪ينَ هُمْ ف۪ي غَمْرَةٍ سَاهُونَۙ

Allatheena hum fee ghamratin sahoon

Those who in a flood of ignorance are heedless!

## Verse 12

يَسْـَٔلُونَ اَيَّانَ يَوْمُ الدّ۪ينِۜ

Yas-aloona ayyana yawmu addeen

They ask: “When is the Day of Judgment?”

## Verse 13

يَوْمَ هُمْ عَلَى النَّارِ يُفْتَنُونَ

Yawma hum AAala annariyuftanoon

The day they will be tried by the Fire!

## Verse 14

ذُوقُوا فِتْنَتَكُمْۜ هٰذَا الَّذ۪ي كُنْتُمْ بِه۪ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ

Thooqoo fitnatakum hatha allatheekuntum bihi tastaAAjiloon

“Taste your means of denial: this is what you sought to hasten!”

## Verse 15

اِنَّ الْمُتَّق۪ينَ ف۪ي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍۙ

Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatinwaAAuyoon

Those in prudent fear will be among gardens and springs,

## Verse 16

اٰخِذ۪ينَ مَٓا اٰتٰيهُمْ رَبُّهُمْۜ اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَبْلَ ذٰلِكَ مُحْسِن۪ينَۜ

Akhitheena ma atahumrabbuhum innahum kanoo qabla thalika muhsineen

Taking what their Lord has given them; they were before that doers of good;

## Verse 17

كَانُوا قَل۪يلاً مِنَ الَّيْلِ مَا يَهْجَعُونَ

Kanoo qaleelan mina allayli mayahjaAAoon

They slept but little of the night,

## Verse 18

وَبِالْاَسْحَارِ هُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ

Wabil-ashari humyastaghfiroon

And before the break of day they would ask forgiveness,

## Verse 19

وَف۪ٓي اَمْوَالِهِمْ حَقٌّ لِلسَّٓائِلِ وَالْمَحْرُومِ

Wafee amwalihim haqqun lissa-iliwalmahroom

And in their wealth was a due for the one who asked, and the one deprived.

## Verse 20

وَفِي الْاَرْضِ اٰيَاتٌ لِلْمُوقِن۪ينَۙ

Wafee al-ardi ayatunlilmooqineen

And in the earth are proofs for those who are certain,

## Verse 21

وَف۪ٓي اَنْفُسِكُمْۜ  اَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ

Wafee anfusikum afala tubsiroon

And in yourselves; do you then not see!

## Verse 22

وَفِي السَّمَٓاءِ رِزْقُكُمْ وَمَا تُوعَدُونَ

Wafee assama-i rizqukum wamatooAAadoon

And in the heaven is your provision — and what you are promised!

## Verse 23

فَوَرَبِّ السَّمَٓاءِ وَالْاَرْضِ اِنَّهُ لَحَقٌّ مِثْلَ مَٓا اَنَّكُمْ تَنْطِقُونَ۟

Fawarabbi assama-i wal-ardiinnahu lahaqqun mithla ma annakum tantiqoon

Then by the Lord of Heaven and Earth, it is as true as that you are speaking!

## Verse 24

هَلْ اَتٰيكَ حَد۪يثُ ضَيْفِ اِبْرٰه۪يمَ الْمُكْرَم۪ينَۢ

Hal ataka hadeethu dayfiibraheema almukrameen

Has there come to thee the story of the honoured guests of Abraham?

## Verse 25

اِذْ دَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا سَلَاماًۜ قَالَ سَلَامٌۚ قَوْمٌ مُنْكَرُونَ

Ith dakhaloo AAalayhi faqaloosalaman qala salamun qawmun munkaroon

When they entered upon him and said: “Peace!” he said: “Peace, people unknown!”

## Verse 26

فَرَاغَ اِلٰٓى اَهْلِه۪ فَجَٓاءَ بِعِجْلٍ سَم۪ينٍۙ

Faragha ila ahlihi fajaabiAAijlin sameen

And he turned aside to his family and brought a fatted calf,

## Verse 27

فَقَرَّبَهُٓ اِلَيْهِمْ قَالَ اَلَا تَأْكُلُونَۘ

Faqarrabahu ilayhim qala alata/kuloon

And he placed it near them; he said: “Will you not eat?”

## Verse 28

فَاَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خ۪يفَةًۜ قَالُوا لَا تَخَفْۜ وَبَشَّرُوهُ بِغُلَامٍ عَل۪يمٍ

Faawjasa minhum kheefatan qaloo latakhaf wabashsharoohu bighulamin AAaleem

And he sensed fear from them. They said: “Fear thou not!” And they gave him glad tidings of a learned lad.

## Verse 29

فَاَقْبَلَتِ امْرَاَتُهُ ف۪ي صَرَّةٍ فَصَكَّتْ وَجْهَهَا وَقَالَتْ عَجُوزٌ عَق۪يمٌ

Faaqbalati imraatuhu fee sarratin fasakkatwajhaha waqalat AAajoozun AAaqeem

And his wife came forward, crying out, and struck her face, and said: “A barren old woman!”

## Verse 30

قَالُوا كَذٰلِكِۙ قَالَ رَبُّكِۜ اِنَّهُ هُوَ الْحَك۪يمُ الْعَل۪يمُ

Qaloo kathaliki qalarabbuki innahu huwa alhakeemu alAAaleem

They said: “Thus said thy Lord; He is the Wise, the Knowing.”

## Verse 31

قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ اَيُّهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ

Qala fama khatbukumayyuha almursaloon

He said: “Then what is your business, O emissaries?”

## Verse 32

قَالُٓوا اِنَّٓا اُرْسِلْـنَٓا اِلٰى قَوْمٍ مُجْرِم۪ينَۙ

Qaloo inna orsilna ilaqawmin mujrimeen

They said: “We have been sent to a people of lawbreakers,

## Verse 33

لِنُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِنْ ط۪ينٍۙ

Linursila AAalayhim hijaratanmin teen

“That we might send upon them stones of clay,

## Verse 34

مُسَوَّمَةً عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُسْرِف۪ينَ

Musawwamatan AAinda rabbika lilmusrifeen

“Marked in the sight of thy Lord for the committers of excess.”

## Verse 35

فَاَخْرَجْنَا مَنْ كَانَ ف۪يهَا مِنَ الْمُؤْمِن۪ينَۚ

Faakhrajna man kana feehamina almu/mineen

And We brought out whoso therein was of the believers,

## Verse 36

فَمَا وَجَدْنَا ف۪يهَا غَيْرَ بَيْتٍ مِنَ الْمُسْلِم۪ينَۚ

Fama wajadna feehaghayra baytin mina almuslimeen

And We found not therein but one house of those submitting.

## Verse 37

وَتَرَكْنَا ف۪يهَٓا اٰيَةً لِلَّذ۪ينَ يَخَافُونَ الْعَذَابَ الْاَل۪يمَۜ

Watarakna feeha ayatanlillatheena yakhafoona alAAathaba al-aleem

And We left therein a proof for those who fear the painful punishment.

## Verse 38

وَف۪ي مُوسٰٓى اِذْ اَرْسَلْنَاهُ اِلٰى فِرْعَوْنَ بِسُلْطَانٍ مُب۪ينٍ

Wafee moosa ith arsanahuila firAAawna bisultanin mubeen

And in Moses: when We sent him to Pharaoh with a clear authority: —

## Verse 39

فَتَوَلّٰى بِرُكْنِه۪ وَقَالَ سَاحِرٌ اَوْ مَجْنُونٌ

Fatawalla biruknihi waqala sahirunaw majnoon

He turned away with his supporters, saying: “A sorcerer, or one possessed.”

## Verse 40

فَاَخَذْنَاهُ وَجُنُودَهُ فَنَبَذْنَاهُمْ فِي الْيَمِّ وَهُوَ مُل۪يمٌۜ

Faakhathnahu wajunoodahufanabathnahum fee alyammi wahuwa muleem

So We took him and his forces, and cast them into the sea; and he was blameworthy.

## Verse 41

وَف۪ي عَادٍ اِذْ اَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الرّ۪يحَ الْعَق۪يمَۚ

Wafee AAadin ith arsalnaAAalayhimu arreeha alAAaqeem

And in ʿĀd: when We sent upon them the barren wind: —

## Verse 42

مَا تَذَرُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ اَتَتْ عَلَيْهِ اِلَّا جَعَلَتْهُ  كَالرَّم۪يمِۜ

Ma tatharu min shay-in atatAAalayhi illa jaAAalat-hu karrameem

It left nothing it came upon save it made it as decayed ruins.

## Verse 43

وَف۪ي ثَمُودَ اِذْ ق۪يلَ لَهُمْ تَمَتَّعُوا حَتّٰى ح۪ينٍ

Wafee thamooda ith qeela lahumtamattaAAoo hatta heen

And in Thamūd: when it was said to them: “Enjoy yourselves for a time!”

## Verse 44

فَعَتَوْا عَنْ اَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ فَاَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ وَهُمْ يَنْظُرُونَ

FaAAataw AAan amri rabbihim faakhathat-humuassaAAiqatu wahum yanthuroon

But they scorned the command of their Lord, and the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on,

## Verse 45

فَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا مِنْ قِيَامٍ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنْتَصِر۪ينَۙ

Fama istataAAoo min qiyaminwama kanoo muntasireen

And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves.

## Verse 46

وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِنْ قَبْلُۜ اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْماً فَاسِق۪ينَ۟

Waqawma noohin min qablu innahum kanooqawman fasiqeen

And the people of Noah before: they were a perfidious people.

## Verse 47

وَالسَّمَٓاءَ بَنَيْنَاهَا بِاَيْدٍ وَاِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ

Wassamaa banaynahabi-aydin wa-inna lamoosiAAoon

(And the heaven — We built it with might; and We are wealthy!

## Verse 48

وَالْاَرْضَ فَرَشْنَاهَا فَنِعْمَ الْمَاهِدُونَ

Wal-arda farashnahafaniAAma almahidoon

And the earth — We spread it out; how excellent are those who level!

## Verse 49

وَمِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْنَا زَوْجَيْنِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ

Wamin kulli shay-in khalaqna zawjaynilaAAallakum tathakkaroon

And of all things We created two kinds, that you might take heed.

## Verse 50

فَفِرُّٓوا اِلَى اللّٰهِۜ اِنّ۪ي لَكُمْ مِنْهُ نَذ۪يرٌ مُب۪ينٌۚ

Fafirroo ila Allahi inneelakum minhu natheerun mubeen

“So flee to God! I am to you from Him a clear warner!

## Verse 51

وَلَا تَجْعَلُوا مَعَ اللّٰهِ اِلٰهاً اٰخَرَۜ اِنّ۪ي لَكُمْ مِنْهُ نَذ۪يرٌ مُب۪ينٌ

Wala tajAAaloo maAAa Allahi ilahanakhara innee lakum minhu natheerun mubeen

“And make not with God another god! I am to you from Him a clear warner!”)

## Verse 52

كَذٰلِكَ مَٓا اَتَى الَّذ۪ينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ مِنْ رَسُولٍ اِلَّا قَالُوا سَاحِرٌ اَوْ مَجْنُونٌ

Kathalika ma ata allatheenamin qablihim min rasoolin illa qaloo sahirunaw majnoon

Thus came there no messenger to those before them save they said: “A sorcerer, or one possessed.”

## Verse 53

اَتَوَاصَوْا بِه۪ۚ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ

Atawasaw bihi bal hum qawmun taghoon

Have they passed it down? The truth is, they are a people transgressing all bounds.

## Verse 54

فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَمَٓا اَنْتَ بِمَلُومٍۘ

Fatawalla AAanhum fama anta bimaloom

So turn thou from them, then art thou not blameworthy.

## Verse 55

وَذَكِّرْ فَاِنَّ الذِّكْرٰى تَنْفَعُ الْمُؤْمِن۪ينَ

Wathakkir fa-inna aththikratanfaAAu almu/mineen

But remind thou, for the reminder benefits the believers.

## Verse 56

وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْاِنْسَ اِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ

Wama khalaqtu aljinna wal-insailla liyaAAbudoon

And I created the domini and the servi only that they should serve Me.

## Verse 57

مَٓا اُر۪يدُ مِنْهُمْ مِنْ رِزْقٍ وَمَٓا اُر۪يدُ اَنْ يُطْعِمُونِ

Ma oreedu minhum min rizqin wamaoreedu an yutAAimoon

I desire no provision from them, nor do I desire that they should feed Me.

## Verse 58

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ هُوَ الرَّزَّاقُ ذُوالْقُوَّةِ الْمَت۪ينُ

Inna Allaha huwa arrazzaquthoo alquwwati almateen

God, He is the Provider, the Possessor of Power, the Strong.

## Verse 59

فَاِنَّ لِلَّذ۪ينَ ظَلَمُوا ذَنُوباً مِثْلَ ذَنُوبِ اَصْحَابِهِمْ فَلَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونِ

Fa-inna lillatheena thalamoothanooban mithla thanoobi as-habihimfala yastaAAjiloon

And for those who do wrong is a portion like the portion of their companions; so let them not seek to hasten Me!

## Verse 60

فَوَيْلٌ لِلَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ يَوْمِهِمُ الَّذ۪ي يُوعَدُونَ

Fawaylun lillatheena kafaroo minyawmihimu allathee yooAAadoon

And woe to those who ignore warning from their day which they are promised!
