- **Meaning:** To think or have an opinion of a thing, surmise or fancy a thing, limp or halt, slightly lame, image a thing (form an image) in the mind, perceive or discover, convey doubt or suspicion, to be cowardly or weak-hearted on the occassion of a fight [and thus do not act/proceed firmly or steadily], hold back from people or a party through cowardice, vie with/rival/imitate someone (do as he does) in pride and self-conceit, dubious/confused/vague, become abundant in plants or herbage (land), go on or away, act with a penetrative energy (being quick), behave proudly or haughtily, walk with pride or self-conceit, weak in heart and body, free from an attachment of love (having no spouse).

Zuyyina linnasi hubbuashshahawati mina annisa-i walbaneenawalqanateeri almuqantarati mina aththahabiwalfiddati walkhayli almusawwamati wal-anAAamiwalharthi thalika mataAAu alhayatiaddunya wallahu AAindahu husnualmaab

Made fair for men is the love of lusts — for women, and sons, and amassed fortunes of gold and silver, and branded horses, and cattle, and tilth: that is the provision of the life of this world — but God, with Him is the best journey’s end.

WaAAbudoo Allaha walatushrikoo bihi shay-an wabilwalidayni ihsananwabithee alqurba walyatama walmasakeeniwaljari thee alqurba waljarialjunubi wassahibi biljanbi wabniassabeeli wama malakat aymanukum inna Allahala yuhibbu man kana mukhtalan fakhoora

And serve God, and ascribe not a partnership with Him to anything; and towards parents good conduct, and towards relatives, and the fatherless, and the poor, and the neighbour who is kin, and the neighbour who is not kin, and the companion at your side, and the wayfarer, and those whom your right hands possess; God loves not whoso is a conceited boaster:

WaaAAiddoo lahum ma istataAAtummin quwwatin wamin ribati alkhayli turhiboona bihiAAaduwwa Allahi waAAaduwwakum waakhareena mindoonihim la taAAlamoonahumu Allahu yaAAlamuhum wamatunfiqoo min shay-in fee sabeeli Allahi yuwaffa ilaykumwaantum la tuthlamoon

And prepare for them what you are able of forces and of cavalry, to terrify thereby the enemy of God, and your enemy, and others besides them whom you know not; God knows them. And whatever you spend in the cause of God will be repaid to you in full; and you will not be wronged.

Wastafziz mani istataAAtaminhum bisawtika waajlib AAalayhim bikhaylika warajlikawasharik-hum fee al-amwali wal-awladiwaAAidhum wama yaAAiduhumu ashshaytanu illaghuroora

“And incite thou whom thou canst of them with thy voice, and rally thou horse and foot against them, and partner thou them in their wealth and children, and promise thou them,” — but the satan promises them only delusion —

### 31. Surah Luqman, Verse 18

“And turn thou not thy cheek to men, and walk thou not in the earth haughtily; God loves not every conceited boaster.

### 57. Surah Al-Hadid, Verse 23

### 59. Surah Al-Hashr, Verse 6

وَمَٓا اَفَٓاءَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى رَسُولِه۪ مِنْهُمْ فَمَٓا اَوْجَفْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ خَيْلٍ وَلَا رِكَابٍ وَلٰكِنَّ اللّٰهَ يُسَلِّطُ رُسُلَهُ عَلٰى مَنْ يَشَٓاءُۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَد۪يرٌ

Wama afaa Allahu AAalarasoolihi minhum fama awjaftum AAalayhi min khaylin walarikabin walakinna Allaha yusalliturusulahu AAala man yashao wallahuAAala kulli shay-in qadeer

And what God gave in spoil to His messenger from them: you spurred not for it any horse or camel, but God gives His messengers authority over whom He wills; and God is over all things powerful.
