Surah Al-An'am, Verse 91 - **Form in this verse:** خَوْضِهِمْ — khawḍihim · "their discourse" - **Grammar:** noun · noun-verb · masculine · genitive case وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللّٰهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِه۪ٓ اِذْ قَالُوا مَٓا اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى بَشَرٍ مِنْ شَيْءٍۜ قُلْ مَنْ اَنْزَلَ الْكِتَابَ الَّذ۪ي جَٓاءَ بِه۪ مُوسٰى نُوراً وَهُدًى لِلنَّاسِ تَجْعَلُونَهُ قَرَاط۪يسَ تُبْدُونَهَا وَتُخْفُونَ كَث۪يراًۚ وَعُلِّمْتُمْ مَا لَمْ تَعْلَمُٓوا اَنْتُمْ وَلَٓا اٰبَٓاؤُ۬كُمْۜ قُلِ اللّٰهُۙ ثُمَّ ذَرْهُمْ ف۪ي خَوْضِهِمْ يَلْعَبُونَ Wama qadaroo Allaha haqqaqadrihi ith qaloo ma anzala AllahuAAala basharin min shay-in qul man anzala alkitabaallathee jaa bihi moosa nooran wahudan linnasitajAAaloonahu qarateesa tubdoonaha watukhfoonakatheeran waAAullimtum ma lam taAAlamoo antum wala abaokumquli Allahu thumma tharhum fee khawdihimyalAAaboon And they measured God not with the measure due Him when they said: “God has not sent down upon a mortal anything.” Say thou: “Who sent down the Writ which Moses brought as a light and guidance for men?” (You make it into parchments which you show; and you conceal much; and you were taught what you knew not, you and your fathers.) Surah At-Tawbah, Verse 69 - **Form in this verse:** وَخُضْتُمْ — wakhuḍ'tum · "and you indulge" - **Grammar:** verb · 2nd person, masculine, plural · past tense كَالَّذ۪ينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ كَانُٓوا اَشَدَّ مِنْكُمْ قُوَّةً وَاَكْثَرَ اَمْوَالاً وَاَوْلَاداًۜ فَاسْتَمْتَعُوا بِخَلَاقِهِمْ فَاسْتَمْتَعْتُمْ بِخَلَاقِكُمْ كَمَا اسْتَمْتَعَ الَّذ۪ينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ بِخَلَاقِهِمْ وَخُضْتُمْ كَالَّذ۪ي خَاضُواۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ حَبِطَتْ اَعْمَالُهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْاٰخِرَةِۚ وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ Kallatheena min qablikum kanooashadda minkum quwwatan waakthara amwalan waawladanfastamtaAAoo bikhalaqihim fastamtaAAtumbikhalaqikum kama istamtaAAa allatheena minqablikum bikhalaqihim wakhudtum kallatheekhadoo ola-ika habitat aAAmaluhumfee addunya wal-akhirati waola-ikahumu alkhasiroon Like those before you, stronger than you in might and greater in wealth and children: they enjoyed their lot.
