- **Meaning:** To sound murmured/rumbled or gurgled (water), run so as to make a noise [run/flow/trickle down so as to make a murmuring, or similar, sound], to be made to run [TA], sound rustled (wind), to snore or make a sound in breathing, to fall or fall down (making a sound to be heard at the same time) [sometimes used in the sense of falling absolutely], come upon a place or person suddenly or unawares, to be lax or flabby, to pass along or away or by from one place to another.

Walamma jaa moosalimeeqatina wakallamahu rabbuhu qala rabbiarinee anthur ilayka qala lan taraneewalakini onthur ila aljabali fa-iniistaqarra makanahu fasawfa taranee falammatajalla rabbuhu liljabali jaAAalahu dakkan wakharra moosasaAAiqan falamma afaqa qala subhanakatubtu ilayka waana awwalu almu/mineen

And when Moses came at Our appointed time and his Lord spoke to him, he said: “My Lord: show Thou me that I might look upon Thee.” Said He: “Thou wilt not see Me; but look thou upon the mountain: if it should remain in its place, then thou wilt see Me.” And when his Lord was revealed upon the mountain, He made it level; and Moses fell down thunderstruck. Then when he recovered, he said: “Glory be to Thee! I turn to Thee repentant; and I am the first of the believers!”

وَرَفَعَ اَبَوَيْهِ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ وَخَرُّوا لَهُ سُجَّداًۚ وَقَالَ يَٓا اَبَتِ هٰذَا تَأْو۪يلُ رُءْيَايَ مِنْ قَبْلُۘ قَدْ جَعَلَهَا رَبّ۪ي حَقاًّۜ وَقَدْ اَحْسَنَ ب۪ٓي اِذْ اَخْرَجَن۪ي مِنَ السِّجْنِ وَجَٓاءَ بِكُمْ مِنَ الْبَدْوِ مِنْ بَعْدِ اَنْ نَزَغَ الشَّيْطَانُ بَيْن۪ي وَبَيْنَ اِخْوَت۪يۜ اِنَّ رَبّ۪ي لَط۪يفٌ لِمَا يَشَٓاءُۜ اِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَل۪يمُ الْحَك۪يمُ

WarafaAAa abawayhi AAala alAAarshiwakharroo lahu sujjadan waqala ya abati hathata/weelu ru/yaya min qablu qad jaAAalaha rabbee haqqanwaqad ahsana bee ith akhrajanee mina assijniwajaa bikum mina albadwi min baAAdi an nazagha ashshaytanubaynee wabayna ikhwatee inna rabbee lateefun limayashao innahu huwa alAAaleemu alhakeem

And he raised his parents upon the throne. And they fell down to him in submission, and he said: “O my father: this is the fulfilment of my dream before. My Lord has made it true. And He did good to me when He took me out of the prison, and brought you from the desert after the satan had provoked to evil between me and my brothers. My Lord is subtle in what He wills; He is the Knowing, the Wise.”

### 16. Surah An-Nahl, Verse 26

Qad makara allatheena min qablihimfaata Allahu bunyanahum mina alqawaAAidifakharra AAalayhimu assaqfu min fawqihim waatahumualAAathabu min haythu la yashAAuroon

Those before them schemed; then God came at their building from the foundations so the roof fell down on them from above them; and the punishment came upon them whence they perceived not.

Say thou: “Believe in it, or believe not”; those given knowledge before it, when it is recited to them, they fall on their faces in submission,

Ola-ika allatheena anAAama AllahuAAalayhim mina annabiyyeena min thurriyyati adamawamimman hamalna maAAa noohin wamin thurriyyatiibraheema wa-isra-eela wamimman hadayna wajtabaynaitha tutla AAalayhim ayatu arrahmanikharroo sujjadan wabukiyya

Those are they whom God favoured among the prophets of the progeny of Adam, and of those We bore with Noah, and of the progeny of Abraham and Israel, and of those We guided and chose. When the proofs of the Almighty were recited to them, they fell down in submission weeping.

### 19. Surah Maryam, Verse 90

The heavens are nigh rent therefrom, and the earth split open, and the mountains fallen in destruction

### 22. Surah Al-Hajj, Verse 31

حُنَفَٓاءَ لِلّٰهِ غَيْرَ مُشْرِك۪ينَ بِه۪ۜ وَمَنْ يُشْرِكْ بِاللّٰهِ فَكَاَنَّمَا خَرَّ مِنَ السَّمَٓاءِ فَتَخْطَفُهُ الطَّيْرُ اَوْ تَهْو۪ي بِهِ الرّ۪يحُ ف۪ي مَكَانٍ سَح۪يقٍ

Hunafaa lillahi ghayramushrikeena bihi waman yushrik billahi fakaannamakharra mina assama-i fatakhtafuhu attayruaw tahwee bihi arreehu fee makanin saheeq

Inclining towards God, not ascribing a partnership to Him. And whoso ascribes a partnership to God, it is as if he had fallen from the sky, then the birds snatch him away, or the wind sweeps him away to a far-off place.

### 25. Surah Al-Furqan, Verse 73

And who when they are reminded of the proofs of their Lord, fall not down upon them deaf and blind;

### 32. Surah As-Sajdah, Verse 15

Innama yu/minu bi-ayatinaallatheena itha thukkiroo bihakharroo sujjadan wasabbahoo bihamdi rabbihim wahumla yastakbiroon

Only those believe in Our proofs who, when they are reminded thereof, fall down in submission; and they give glory with the praise of their Lord, and they wax not proud.

### 34. Surah Saba, Verse 14

فَلَمَّا قَضَيْنَا عَلَيْهِ الْمَوْتَ مَا دَلَّهُمْ عَلٰى مَوْتِه۪ٓ اِلَّا دَٓابَّةُ الْاَرْضِ تَأْكُلُ مِنْسَاَتَهُۚ فَلَمَّا خَرَّ تَبَيَّنَتِ الْجِنُّ اَنْ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ الْغَيْبَ مَا لَبِثُوا فِي الْعَذَابِ الْمُه۪ينِ

Falamma qadaynaAAalayhi almawta ma dallahum AAala mawtihi illadabbatu al-ardi ta/kulu minsaatahu falammakharra tabayyanati aljinnu an law kanoo yaAAlamoonaalghayba ma labithoo fee alAAathabi almuheen

And when We decreed death for him, there indicated his death to them only a creature of the earth eating at his staff. But when he fell down, it became clear to the domini that had they but known the Unseen, they would not have tarried in the humiliating punishment.

### 38. Surah Sad, Verse 24

قَالَ لَقَدْ ظَلَمَكَ بِسُؤَالِ نَعْجَتِكَ اِلٰى نِعَاجِه۪ۜ وَاِنَّ كَث۪يراً مِنَ الْخُلَطَٓاءِ لَيَبْغ۪ي بَعْضُهُمْ عَلٰى بَعْضٍ اِلَّا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَقَل۪يلٌ مَا هُمْۜ وَظَنَّ دَاوُ۫دُ اَنَّمَا فَتَنَّاهُ فَاسْتَغْفَرَ رَبَّهُ وَخَرَّ رَا‌كِعاً وَاَنَابَ

Qala laqad thalamakabisu-ali naAAjatika ila niAAajihi wa-innakatheeran mina alkhulata-i layabghee baAAduhum AAalabaAAdin illa allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati waqaleelun mahum wathanna dawoodu annama fatannahufastaghfara rabbahu wakharra rakiAAan waanab

Said he: “He has wronged thee in asking thy ewe for his ewes; and many among acquaintances oppress one another save those who heed warning and do righteous deeds — and few are they.” And David understood that We had but subjected him to means of denial; and he asked forgiveness of his Lord, and fell down humbly and repented.
