Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 83 - **Form in this verse:** وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ — wabil-wālidayni · "and with [the] parents" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, dual · genitive case وَاِذْ اَخَذْنَا م۪يثَاقَ بَن۪ٓي اِسْرَٓائ۪لَ لَا تَعْبُدُونَ اِلَّا اللّٰهَ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ اِحْسَاناً وَذِي الْقُرْبٰى وَالْيَتَامٰى وَالْمَسَاك۪ينِ وَقُولُوا لِلنَّاسِ حُسْناً وَاَق۪يمُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَاٰتُوا الزَّكٰوةَۜ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ اِلَّا قَل۪يلاً مِنْكُمْ وَاَنْتُمْ مُعْرِضُونَ Wa-ith akhathna meethaqabanee isra-eela la taAAbudoona illa Allahawabilwalidayni ihsanan watheealqurba walyatama walmasakeeniwaqooloo linnasi husnan waaqeemoo assalatawaatoo azzakata thumma tawallaytum illaqaleelan minkum waantum muAAridoon And when We took an agreement of the children of Israel: “Serve not save God; and towards parents good conduct, and towards kin, and the fatherless, and the poor; and speak kindly to men; and uphold the duty, and render the purity,” then you turned away save a few among you; and you are averse. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-83.md_ ### 2. Say thou: “Whatever you spend of good for parents and relatives, and the fatherless, and the needy, and the wayfarer,[...]. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 233 - **Form in this verse:** وَٱلْوَٰلِدَٰتُ — wal-wālidātu · "And the mothers" - **Grammar:** noun · active · feminine, plural · nominative case وَالْوَالِدَاتُ يُرْضِعْنَ اَوْلَادَهُنَّ حَوْلَيْنِ كَامِلَيْنِ لِمَنْ اَرَادَ اَنْ يُـتِمَّ الرَّضَاعَةَۜ وَعَلَى الْمَوْلُودِ لَهُ رِزْقُهُنَّ وَكِسْوَتُهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِۜ لَا تُكَلَّفُ نَفْسٌ اِلَّا وُسْعَهَاۚ لَا تُضَٓارَّ وَالِدَةٌ بِوَلَدِهَا وَلَا مَوْلُودٌ لَهُ بِوَلَدِه۪ وَعَلَى الْوَارِثِ مِثْلُ ذٰلِكَۚ فَاِنْ اَرَادَا فِصَالاً عَنْ تَرَاضٍ مِنْهُمَا وَتَشَاوُرٍ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِمَاۜ وَاِنْ اَرَدْتُمْ اَنْ تَسْتَرْضِعُٓوا اَوْلَادَكُمْ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ اِذَا سَلَّمْتُمْ مَٓا اٰتَيْتُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِۜ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَص۪يرٌ Walwalidatu yurdiAAnaawladahunna hawlayni kamilayni liman aradaan yutimma arradaAAata waAAala almawloodilahu rizquhunna wakiswatuhunna bilmaAAroofi latukallafu nafsun illa wusAAaha la tudarrawalidatun biwaladiha wala mawloodun lahubiwaladihi waAAala alwarithi mithlu thalikafa-in arada fisalan AAan taradinminhuma watashawurin fala junahaAAalayhima wa-in aradtum an tastardiAAoo awladakumfala junaha AAalaykum itha sallamtum maataytum bilmaAAroofi wattaqoo AllahawaAAlamoo anna Allaha bima taAAmaloona baseer And mothers shall suckle their children two complete years, for such as wish to complete the suckling. And upon the father is their provision and their clothing, according to what is fitting. No soul is burdened save to its capacity. A mother shall not be hurt by her child, nor a father by his child. And upon the heir is the like of that. And if they desire weaning by mutual consent and consultation between them, then they do no wrong. And if you desire to seek one to suckle your children, then you do no wrong when you deliver what you have brought according to what is fitting. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 233 - **Form in this verse:** أَوْلَـٰدَكُمْ — awlādakum · "your child" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, plural · accusative case وَالْوَالِدَاتُ يُرْضِعْنَ اَوْلَادَهُنَّ حَوْلَيْنِ كَامِلَيْنِ لِمَنْ اَرَادَ اَنْ يُـتِمَّ الرَّضَاعَةَۜ وَعَلَى الْمَوْلُودِ لَهُ رِزْقُهُنَّ وَكِسْوَتُهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِۜ لَا تُكَلَّفُ نَفْسٌ اِلَّا وُسْعَهَاۚ لَا تُضَٓارَّ وَالِدَةٌ بِوَلَدِهَا وَلَا مَوْلُودٌ لَهُ بِوَلَدِه۪ وَعَلَى الْوَارِثِ مِثْلُ ذٰلِكَۚ فَاِنْ اَرَادَا فِصَالاً عَنْ تَرَاضٍ مِنْهُمَا وَتَشَاوُرٍ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِمَاۜ وَاِنْ اَرَدْتُمْ اَنْ تَسْتَرْضِعُٓوا اَوْلَادَكُمْ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ اِذَا سَلَّمْتُمْ مَٓا اٰتَيْتُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِۜ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَص۪يرٌ Walwalidatu yurdiAAnaawladahunna hawlayni kamilayni liman aradaan yutimma arradaAAata waAAala almawloodilahu rizquhunna wakiswatuhunna bilmaAAroofi latukallafu nafsun illa wusAAaha la tudarrawalidatun biwaladiha wala mawloodun lahubiwaladihi waAAala alwarithi mithlu thalikafa-in arada fisalan AAan taradinminhuma watashawurin fala junahaAAalayhima wa-in aradtum an tastardiAAoo awladakumfala junaha AAalaykum itha sallamtum maataytum bilmaAAroofi wattaqoo AllahawaAAlamoo anna Allaha bima taAAmaloona baseer And mothers shall suckle their children two complete years, for such as wish to complete the suckling. And upon the father is their provision and their clothing, according to what is fitting. No soul is burdened save to its capacity. A mother shall not be hurt by her child, nor a father by his child. And upon the heir is the like of that. And if they desire weaning by mutual consent and consultation between them, then they do no wrong. And if you desire to seek one to suckle your children, then you do no wrong when you deliver what you have brought according to what is fitting. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 47 - **Form in this verse:** وَلَدٌۭ — waladun · "a boy" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case · indefinite قَالَتْ رَبِّ اَنّٰى يَكُونُ ل۪ي وَلَدٌ وَلَمْ يَمْسَسْن۪ي بَشَرٌۜ قَالَ كَذٰلِكِ اللّٰهُ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَٓاءُۜ اِذَا قَضٰٓى اَمْراً فَاِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُ كُنْ فَيَكُونُ Qalat rabbi anna yakoonu leewaladun walam yamsasnee basharun qala kathaliki Allahuyakhluqu ma yashao itha qada amranfa-innama yaqoolu lahu kun fayakoon She said: “My Lord: how will I have a son when no mortal has touched me?” He said: “Thus is God; he creates what He wills; when He decrees a matter, He but says to it: ‘Be thou,’ and it is. _https://quran.so/surah-ali-imran/verse-47.md_ ### 3. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 11 - **Form in this verse:** أَوْلَـٰدِكُمْ ۖ — awlādikum · "your children" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, plural · genitive case يُوص۪يكُمُ اللّٰهُ ف۪ٓي اَوْلَادِكُمْ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْاُنْثَيَيْنِۚ فَاِنْ كُنَّ نِسَٓاءً فَوْقَ اثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُنَّ ثُلُثَا مَا تَرَكَۚ وَاِنْ كَانَتْ وَاحِدَةً فَلَهَا النِّصْفُۜ وَلِاَبَوَيْهِ لِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا السُّدُسُ مِمَّا تَرَكَ اِنْ كَانَ لَهُ وَلَدٌۚ فَاِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ وَلَدٌ وَوَرِثَهُٓ اَبَوَاهُ فَلِاُمِّهِ الثُّلُثُۚ فَاِنْ كَانَ لَهُٓ اِخْوَةٌ فَلِاُمِّهِ السُّدُسُ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوص۪ي بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۜ اٰبَٓاؤُ۬كُمْ وَاَبْنَٓاؤُ۬كُمْۚ لَا تَدْرُونَ اَيُّهُمْ اَقْرَبُ لَكُمْ نَفْعاًۚ فَر۪يضَةً مِنَ اللّٰهِۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَل۪يماً حَك۪يماً Yooseekumu Allahu fee awladikumliththakari mithlu haththialonthayayni fa-in kunna nisaan fawqa ithnatayni falahunnathulutha ma taraka wa-in kanat wahidatanfalaha annisfu wali-abawayhi likulli wahidinminhuma assudusu mimma taraka in kanalahu waladun fa-in lam yakun lahu waladun wawarithahu abawahufali-ommihi aththuluthu fa-in kana lahu ikhwatunfali-ommihi assudusu min baAAdi wasiyyatin yooseebiha aw daynin abaokum waabnaokum latadroona ayyuhum aqrabu lakum nafAAan fareedatan mina Allahiinna Allaha kana AAaleeman hakeema God charges you concerning your children: for the male is the like of the portion of two females; but if there are women above two, then for them is two-thirds of what he left; and if she is one, then for her is half; and for his parents: for each one of them is one-sixth of what he left if he has a child. Then if he has not a child and there inherit from him his parents, for his mother is one-third; but if he has brothers or sisters: for his mother is one-sixth, after a bequest he has made, or debt — your parents and your children: you know not which of them is nearer to you in benefit — as an obligation from God; God is knowing and wise. _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-11.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 12 - **Form in this verse:** وَلَدٌۭ ۚ — waladun · "a child" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case · indefinite وَلَكُمْ نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ اَزْوَاجُكُمْ اِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌۚ فَاِنْ كَانَ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌ فَلَكُمُ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْنَ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوص۪ينَ بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۜ وَلَهُنَّ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ اِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌۚ فَاِنْ كَانَ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌ فَلَهُنَّ الثُّمُنُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ تُوصُونَ بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۜ وَاِنْ كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُورَثُ كَلَالَةً اَوِ امْرَاَةٌ وَلَهُٓ اَخٌ اَوْ اُخْتٌ فَلِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا السُّدُسُۚ فَاِنْ كَانُٓوا اَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذٰلِكَ فَهُمْ شُرَكَٓاءُ فِي الثُّلُثِ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصٰى بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۙ غَيْرَ مُضَٓارٍّۚ وَصِيَّةً مِنَ اللّٰهِۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَل۪يمٌ حَل۪يمٌۜ Walakum nisfu ma taraka azwajukumin lam yakun lahunna waladun fa-in kana lahunna waladunfalakumu arrubuAAu mimma tarakna min baAAdi wasiyyatinyooseena biha aw daynin walahunna arrubuAAumimma taraktum in lam yakun lakum waladun fa-in kanalakum waladun falahunna aththumunu mimma taraktummin baAAdi wasiyyatin toosoona biha awdaynin wa-in kana rajulun yoorathu kalalatan awiimraatun walahu akhun aw okhtun falikulli wahidin minhumaassudusu fa-in kanoo akthara min thalikafahum shurakao fee aththuluthi min baAAdi wasiyyatinyoosa biha aw daynin ghayra mudarrin wasiyyatanmina Allahi wallahu AAaleemun haleem And for you is half of what your wives left if they have not a child; but if they have a child, then for you is one-fourth of what they left, after a bequest they have made, or debt. And for them: one-fourth of what you left, if you have not a child; but if you have a child: for them is one-eighth of what you left, after a bequest you have made, or debt. And if a man or a woman be inherited with no immediate heir but has a brother or sister, for each of them is one-sixth; but if they are more than that, then are they partners in one-third, after a bequest he has made, or debt, without harm, as a bequest from God; and God is knowing and clement. _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-12.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 12 - **Form in this verse:** وَلَدٌۭ ۚ — waladun · "a child" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case · indefinite وَلَكُمْ نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ اَزْوَاجُكُمْ اِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌۚ فَاِنْ كَانَ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌ فَلَكُمُ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْنَ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوص۪ينَ بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۜ وَلَهُنَّ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ اِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌۚ فَاِنْ كَانَ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌ فَلَهُنَّ الثُّمُنُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ تُوصُونَ بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۜ وَاِنْ كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُورَثُ كَلَالَةً اَوِ امْرَاَةٌ وَلَهُٓ اَخٌ اَوْ اُخْتٌ فَلِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا السُّدُسُۚ فَاِنْ كَانُٓوا اَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذٰلِكَ فَهُمْ شُرَكَٓاءُ فِي الثُّلُثِ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصٰى بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۙ غَيْرَ مُضَٓارٍّۚ وَصِيَّةً مِنَ اللّٰهِۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَل۪يمٌ حَل۪يمٌۜ Walakum nisfu ma taraka azwajukumin lam yakun lahunna waladun fa-in kana lahunna waladunfalakumu arrubuAAu mimma tarakna min baAAdi wasiyyatinyooseena biha aw daynin walahunna arrubuAAumimma taraktum in lam yakun lakum waladun fa-in kanalakum waladun falahunna aththumunu mimma taraktummin baAAdi wasiyyatin toosoona biha awdaynin wa-in kana rajulun yoorathu kalalatan awiimraatun walahu akhun aw okhtun falikulli wahidin minhumaassudusu fa-in kanoo akthara min thalikafahum shurakao fee aththuluthi min baAAdi wasiyyatinyoosa biha aw daynin ghayra mudarrin wasiyyatanmina Allahi wallahu AAaleemun haleem And for you is half of what your wives left if they have not a child; but if they have a child, then for you is one-fourth of what they left, after a bequest they have made, or debt. And for them: one-fourth of what you left, if you have not a child; but if you have a child: for them is one-eighth of what you left, after a bequest you have made, or debt. And if a man or a woman be inherited with no immediate heir but has a brother or sister, for each of them is one-sixth; but if they are more than that, then are they partners in one-third, after a bequest he has made, or debt, without harm, as a bequest from God; and God is knowing and clement. _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-12.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 33 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْوَٰلِدَانِ — l-wālidāni · "(by) the parents" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, dual · nominative case وَلِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مَوَالِيَ مِمَّا تَرَكَ الْوَالِدَانِ وَالْاَقْرَبُونَۜ وَالَّذ۪ينَ عَقَدَتْ اَيْمَانُكُمْ فَاٰتُوهُمْ نَص۪يبَهُمْۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَه۪يداً۟ Walikullin jaAAalna mawaliyamimma taraka alwalidani wal-aqraboonawallatheena AAaqadat aymanukum faatoohumnaseebahum inna Allaha kana AAalakulli shay-in shaheeda And for all have We appointed heirs to what parents and relatives leave; and those with whom you have entered into contract: give them their share; God is witness over all things. _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-33.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 36 - **Form in this verse:** وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ — wabil-wālidayni · "and to the parents" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, dual · genitive case وَاعْبُدُوا اللّٰهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا بِه۪ شَيْـٔاً وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ اِحْسَاناً وَبِذِي الْقُرْبٰى وَالْيَتَامٰى وَالْمَسَاك۪ينِ وَالْجَارِ ذِي الْقُرْبٰى وَالْجَارِ الْجُنُبِ وَالصَّاحِبِ بِالْجَنْبِ وَابْنِ السَّب۪يلِۙ وَمَا مَلَكَتْ اَيْمَانُكُمْۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يُحِبُّ مَنْ كَانَ مُخْتَالاً فَخُوراًۙ WaAAbudoo Allaha walatushrikoo bihi shay-an wabilwalidayni ihsananwabithee alqurba walyatama walmasakeeniwaljari thee alqurba waljarialjunubi wassahibi biljanbi wabniassabeeli wama malakat aymanukum inna Allahala yuhibbu man kana mukhtalan fakhoora And serve God, and ascribe not a partnership with Him to anything; and towards parents good conduct, and towards relatives, and the fatherless, and the poor, and the neighbour who is kin, and the neighbour who is not kin, and the companion at your side, and the wayfarer, and those whom your right hands possess; God loves not whoso is a conceited boaster: _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-36.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 75 - **Form in this verse:** وَٱلْوِلْدَٰنِ — wal-wil'dāni · "and the children" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, plural · genitive case وَمَا لَكُمْ لَا تُقَاتِلُونَ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ وَالْمُسْتَضْعَف۪ينَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ وَالنِّسَٓاءِ وَالْوِلْدَانِ الَّذ۪ينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَٓا اَخْرِجْنَا مِنْ هٰذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ الظَّالِمِ اَهْلُهَاۚ وَاجْعَلْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ وَلِياًّۚ وَاجْعَلْ لَنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ نَص۪يراًۜ Wama lakum la tuqatiloonafee sabeeli Allahi walmustadAAafeena mina arrijaliwannisa-i walwildani allatheenayaqooloona rabbana akhrijna min hathihialqaryati aththalimi ahluhawajAAal lana min ladunka waliyyan wajAAallana min ladunka naseera And why should you not fight in the cause of God, and of the oppressed among the men, and the women, and the children who say: “Our Lord: take Thou us out of this city whose people are wrongdoers; and give Thou us from Thyself an ally; and give Thou us from Thyself a helper”? _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-75.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 127 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْوِلْدَٰنِ — l-wil'dāni · "the children" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, plural · genitive case وَيَسْتَفْتُونَكَ فِي النِّسَٓاءِۜ قُلِ اللّٰهُ يُفْت۪يكُمْ ف۪يهِنَّۙ وَمَا يُتْلٰى عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الْكِتَابِ ف۪ي يَتَامَى النِّسَٓاءِ الّٰت۪ي لَا تُؤْتُونَهُنَّ مَا كُتِبَ لَهُنَّ وَتَرْغَبُونَ اَنْ تَنْكِحُوهُنَّ وَالْمُسْتَضْعَف۪ينَ مِنَ الْوِلْدَانِۙ وَاَنْ تَقُومُوا لِلْيَتَامٰى بِالْقِسْطِۜ وَمَا تَفْعَلُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ بِه۪ عَل۪يماً Wayastaftoonaka fee annisa-iquli Allahu yufteekum feehinna wama yutlaAAalaykum fee alkitabi fee yatama annisa-iallatee la tu/toonahunna ma kutiba lahunnawatarghaboona an tankihoohunna walmustadAAafeenamina alwildani waan taqoomoo lilyatama bilqistiwama tafAAaloo min khayrin fa-inna Allaha kanabihi AAaleema And they ask thee for a ruling concerning women. Say thou: “God gives you the ruling concerning them,” — and what is recited to you in the Writ concerning the fatherless women (to whom you give not what is prescribed for them, and yet desire to marry them) and concerning the oppressed among children; and that you stand up for equity for the fatherless. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 135 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ — l-wālidayni · "the parents" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, dual · genitive case يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا كُونُوا قَوَّام۪ينَ بِالْقِسْطِ شُهَدَٓاءَ لِلّٰهِ وَلَوْ عَلٰٓى اَنْفُسِكُمْ اَوِ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالْاَقْرَب۪ينَۚ اِنْ يَكُنْ غَنِياًّ اَوْ فَق۪يراً فَاللّٰهُ اَوْلٰى بِهِمَا فَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا الْهَوٰٓى اَنْ تَعْدِلُواۚ وَاِنْ تَلْـوُٓ۫ا اَوْ تُعْرِضُوا فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَب۪يراً Ya ayyuha allatheena amanookoonoo qawwameena bilqisti shuhadaalillahi walaw AAala anfusikum awi alwalidayniwal-aqrabeena in yakun ghaniyyan aw faqeeran fallahuawla bihima fala tattabiAAoo alhawaan taAAdiloo wa-in talwoo aw tuAAridoo fa-inna Allahakana bima taAAmaloona khabeera O you who heed warning: stand firm with equity, witnesses to God, though it be against yourselves, or parents, or relatives; whether he be rich or poor, God is closer to both. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 171 - **Form in this verse:** وَلَدٌۭ ۘ — waladun · "a son" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case · indefinite يَٓا اَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لَا تَغْلُوا ف۪ي د۪ينِكُمْ وَلَا تَقُولُوا عَلَى اللّٰهِ اِلَّا الْحَقَّۜ اِنَّمَا الْمَس۪يحُ ع۪يسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ رَسُولُ اللّٰهِ وَكَلِمَتُهُۚ اَلْقٰيهَٓا اِلٰى مَرْيَمَ وَرُوحٌ مِنْهُۘ فَاٰمِنُوا بِاللّٰهِ وَرُسُلِه۪ۚ وَلَا تَقُولُوا ثَلٰثَةٌۜ اِنْتَهُوا خَيْراً لَكُمْۜ اِنَّمَا اللّٰهُ اِلٰهٌ وَاحِدٌۜ سُبْحَانَهُٓ اَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُ وَلَدٌۢ لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمٰوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْاَرْضِۜ وَكَفٰى بِاللّٰهِ وَك۪يلاً۟ Ya ahla alkitabi lataghloo fee deenikum wala taqooloo AAala Allahiilla alhaqqa innama almaseehu AAeesaibnu maryama rasoolu Allahi wakalimatuhu alqahaila maryama waroohun minhu faaminoo billahiwarusulihi wala taqooloo thalathatun intahookhayran lakum innama Allahu ilahun wahidunsubhanahu an yakoona lahu waladun lahu ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi wakafa billahiwakeela O doctors of the Law: exceed not bounds in your doctrine, nor ascribe to God save the truth. The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary was only the messenger of God, and His word which He conveyed to Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in God and His messengers, and say not: “Three.” Desist; it is best for you. God is but One God. Glory be to Him that He should have a son! To Him belongs what is in the heavens and what is in the earth; and God is sufficient as disposer of affairs. _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-171.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 176 - **Form in this verse:** وَلَدٌۭ — waladun · "a child" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case · indefinite يَسْتَفْتُونَكَۜ قُلِ اللّٰهُ يُفْت۪يكُمْ فِي الْكَلَالَةِۜ اِنِ امْرُؤٌا هَلَكَ لَيْسَ لَهُ وَلَدٌ وَلَهُٓ اُخْتٌ فَلَهَا نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَۚ وَهُوَ يَرِثُـهَٓا اِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهَا وَلَدٌۜ فَاِنْ كَانَتَا اثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُمَا الثُّلُثَانِ مِمَّا تَرَكَۜ وَاِنْ كَانُٓوا اِخْوَةً رِجَالاً وَنِسَٓاءً فَلِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْاُنْثَيَيْنِۜ يُبَيِّنُ اللّٰهُ لَكُمْ اَنْ تَضِلُّواۜ وَاللّٰهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَل۪يمٌ Yastaftoonaka quli Allahu yufteekumfee alkalalati ini imruon halaka laysa lahu waladun walahuokhtun falaha nisfu ma taraka wahuwayarithuha in lam yakun laha waladun fa-in kanataithnatayni falahuma aththuluthani mimmataraka wa-in kanoo ikhwatan rijalan wanisaanfaliththakari mithlu haththialonthayayni yubayyinu Allahu lakum an tadilloo wallahubikulli shay-in AAaleem They ask thee for a ruling. Say thou: “God gives you the ruling concerning those without an immediate heir: if a man perishes without a child but has a sister: for her is half of what he left, and he inherits from her if she has not a child. But if there are two females: for them is two-thirds of what he left. And if they are brethren, men and women: for the male is the like of the share of two females.” And God makes plain to you lest you go astray; and God knows all things. _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-176.md_ ### 4. Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 110 - **Form in this verse:** وَٰلِدَتِكَ — wālidatika · "your mother" - **Grammar:** noun · active · feminine · genitive case اِذْ قَالَ اللّٰهُ يَا ع۪يسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ اذْكُرْ نِعْمَت۪ي عَلَيْكَ وَعَلٰى وَالِدَتِكَۢ اِذْ اَيَّدْتُكَ بِرُوحِ الْقُدُسِ تُكَلِّمُ النَّاسَ فِي الْمَهْدِ وَكَهْلاًۚ وَاِذْ عَلَّمْتُكَ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَالتَّوْرٰيةَ وَالْاِنْج۪يلَۚ وَاِذْ تَخْلُقُ مِنَ الطّ۪ينِ كَـهَيْـَٔةِ الطَّيْرِ بِاِذْن۪ي فَتَنْفُخُ ف۪يهَا فَتَكُونُ طَيْراً بِاِذْن۪ي وَتُبْرِئُ الْاَكْمَهَ وَالْاَبْرَصَ بِاِذْن۪يۚ وَاِذْ تُخْرِجُ الْمَوْتٰى بِاِذْن۪يۚ وَاِذْ كَفَفْتُ بَن۪ٓي اِسْرَٓائ۪لَ عَنْكَ اِذْ جِئْتَهُمْ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ فَقَالَ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْهُمْ اِنْ هٰذَٓا اِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُب۪ينٌ Ith qala Allahu yaAAeesa ibna maryama othkur niAAmatee AAalaykawaAAala walidatika ith ayyadtuka biroohialqudusi tukallimu annasa fee almahdi wakahlanwa-ith AAallamtuka alkitaba walhikmatawattawrata wal-injeela wa-ithtakhluqu mina atteeni kahay-ati attayribi-ithnee fatanfukhu feeha fatakoonu tayranbi-ithnee watubri-o al-akmaha wal-abrasabi-ithnee wa-ith tukhriju almawta bi-ithneewa-ith kafaftu banee isra-eela AAanka ithji/tahum bilbayyinati faqala allatheenakafaroo minhum in hatha illa sihrun mubeen (When God will say: “O Jesus, son of Mary: remember thou My favour to thee and to thy mother: when I strengthened thee with the Spirit of Holiness, thou speaking to men in the cradle and in maturity; and when I taught thee the Writ and wisdom, and the Torah and the Gospel; and when thou didst create of clay the likeness of a bird by My leave, and blewest into it and it became a bird by My leave, and thou didst heal the blind and the leper by My leave; and when thou broughtest forth the dead by My leave; and when I restrained the children of Israel from thee when thou camest to them with clear signs”; then those who ignored warning among them said: “This is only obvious sorcery”; _https://quran.so/surah-al-maidah/verse-110.md_ ### 6. Surah Al-An'am, Verse 101 - **Form in this verse:** وَلَدٌۭ — waladun · "a son" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case · indefinite بَد۪يعُ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِۜ اَنّٰى يَكُونُ لَهُ وَلَدٌ وَلَمْ تَكُنْ لَهُ صَاحِبَةٌۜ وَخَلَقَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍۚ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَل۪يمٌ BadeeAAu assamawatiwal-ardi anna yakoonu lahu waladun walamtakun lahu sahibatun wakhalaqa kulla shay-in wahuwabikulli shay-in AAaleem The Originator of the Heavens and the Earth: how could He have a son when He has no companion, and He created all things? Surah Al-An'am, Verse 137 - **Form in this verse:** أَوْلَـٰدِهِمْ — awlādihim · "(of) their children" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, plural · genitive case وَكَذٰلِكَ زَيَّنَ لِكَث۪يرٍ مِنَ الْمُشْرِك۪ينَ قَتْلَ اَوْلَادِهِمْ شُرَكَٓاؤُ۬هُمْ لِيُرْدُوهُمْ وَلِيَلْبِسُوا عَلَيْهِمْ د۪ينَهُمْۜ وَلَوْ شَٓاءَ اللّٰهُ مَا فَعَلُوهُ فَذَرْهُمْ وَمَا يَفْتَرُونَ Wakathalika zayyana likatheerin minaalmushrikeena qatla awladihim shurakaohumliyurdoohum waliyalbisoo AAalayhim deenahum walaw shaa Allahuma faAAaloohu fatharhum wama yaftaroon And thus have their partners made fair to many among the idolaters the killing of their children, to bring them to ruin, and to obfuscate their doctrine for them. Surah Al-An'am, Verse 151 - **Form in this verse:** وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ — wabil-wālidayni · "and with the parents" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, dual · genitive case قُلْ تَعَالَوْا اَتْلُ مَا حَرَّمَ رَبُّكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ اَلَّا تُشْرِكُوا بِه۪ شَيْـٔاًۜ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ اِحْسَاناًۚ وَلَا تَقْتُلُٓوا اَوْلَادَكُمْ مِنْ اِمْلَاقٍۜ نَحْنُ نَرْزُقُكُمْ وَاِيَّاهُمْۚ وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَۚ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا النَّفْسَ الَّت۪ي حَرَّمَ اللّٰهُ اِلَّا بِالْحَقِّۜ ذٰلِكُمْ وَصّٰيكُمْ بِه۪ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ Qul taAAalaw atlu ma harramarabbukum AAalaykum alla tushrikoo bihi shay-an wabilwalidayniihsanan wala taqtuloo awladakum minimlaqin nahnu narzuqukum wa-iyyahum walataqraboo alfawahisha ma thahara minhawama batana wala taqtuloo annafsaallatee harrama Allahu illa bilhaqqithalikum wassakum bihi laAAallakum taAAqiloon Say thou: “Come, I will recite what your Lord has made unlawful for you: that you ascribe a partnership with Him ­­to anything (while towards parents good conduct); and kill not your children out of poverty,” — We will provide for you and for them — “and approach not sexual immoralities, whether open or concealed; and kill not the soul which God has made unlawful save with justice; ­— that He enjoined upon you, that you might use reason. _https://quran.so/surah-al-anam/verse-151.md_ ### 6. Surah At-Tawbah, Verse 69 - **Form in this verse:** وَأَوْلَـٰدًۭا — wa-awlādan · "and children" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, plural · accusative case · indefinite كَالَّذ۪ينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ كَانُٓوا اَشَدَّ مِنْكُمْ قُوَّةً وَاَكْثَرَ اَمْوَالاً وَاَوْلَاداًۜ فَاسْتَمْتَعُوا بِخَلَاقِهِمْ فَاسْتَمْتَعْتُمْ بِخَلَاقِكُمْ كَمَا اسْتَمْتَعَ الَّذ۪ينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ بِخَلَاقِهِمْ وَخُضْتُمْ كَالَّذ۪ي خَاضُواۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ حَبِطَتْ اَعْمَالُهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْاٰخِرَةِۚ وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ Kallatheena min qablikum kanooashadda minkum quwwatan waakthara amwalan waawladanfastamtaAAoo bikhalaqihim fastamtaAAtumbikhalaqikum kama istamtaAAa allatheena minqablikum bikhalaqihim wakhudtum kallatheekhadoo ola-ika habitat aAAmaluhumfee addunya wal-akhirati waola-ikahumu alkhasiroon Like those before you, stronger than you in might and greater in wealth and children: they enjoyed their lot. And you have enjoyed your lot as they enjoyed their lot who were before you; and you have discoursed vainly like those discoursed vainly; those: their works are vain in the World and the Hereafter; and it is they who are the losers. _https://quran.so/surah-at-tawbah/verse-69.md_ ### 9. He is the Free from Need; to Him belongs what is in the heavens and what is in the earth! Surah Hud, Verse 72 - **Form in this verse:** ءَأَلِدُ — a-alidu · "Shall I bear a child" - **Grammar:** verb · 1st person, singular · present tense قَالَتْ يَا وَيْلَتٰٓى ءَاَلِدُ وَاَنَا۬ عَجُوزٌ وَهٰذَا بَعْل۪ي شَيْخاًۜ اِنَّ هٰذَا لَشَيْءٌ عَج۪يبٌ Qalat ya waylata aaliduwaana AAajoozun wahatha baAAlee shaykhan inna hathalashay-on AAajeeb She said: “Oh, woe is me! Surah Yusuf, Verse 21 - **Form in this verse:** وَلَدًۭا ۚ — waladan · "(as) a son" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case · indefinite وَقَالَ الَّذِي اشْتَرٰيهُ مِنْ مِصْرَ لِامْرَاَتِه۪ٓ اَكْرِم۪ي مَثْوٰيهُ عَسٰٓى اَنْ يَنْفَعَنَٓا اَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُ وَلَداًۜ وَكَذٰلِكَ مَكَّنَّا لِيُوسُفَ فِي الْاَرْضِۘ وَلِنُعَلِّمَهُ مِنْ تَأْو۪يلِ الْاَحَاد۪يثِۜ وَاللّٰهُ غَالِبٌ عَلٰٓى اَمْرِه۪ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ Waqala allathee ishtarahumin misra limraatihi akrimee mathwahu AAasaan yanfaAAana aw nattakhithahu waladan wakathalikamakkanna liyoosufa fee al-ardi walinuAAallimahu minta/weeli al-ahadeethi wallahu ghalibunAAala amrihi walakinna akthara annasila yaAAlamoon And said he who bought him from Egypt, to his wife: “Be thou honourable in his dwelling; it may be that he will benefit us, or we will take him as a son.” And thus did We establish Joseph in the land, and that We might teach him the interpretation of narratives; and God prevails over His affair, but most men understand not. _https://quran.so/surah-yusuf/verse-21.md_ ### 14. Surah Al-Isra, Verse 23 - **Form in this verse:** وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ — wabil-wālidayni · "and to the parents" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, dual · genitive case وَقَضٰى رَبُّكَ اَلَّا تَعْبُدُٓوا اِلَّٓا اِيَّاهُ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ اِحْسَاناًۜ اِمَّا يَبْلُغَنَّ عِنْدَكَ الْكِبَرَ اَحَدُهُمَٓا اَوْ كِلَاهُمَا فَلَا تَقُلْ لَهُمَٓا اُفٍّ وَلَا تَنْهَرْهُمَا وَقُلْ لَهُمَا قَوْلاً كَر۪يماً Waqada rabbuka alla taAAbudooilla iyyahu wabilwalidayni ihsananimma yablughanna AAindaka alkibara ahaduhumaaw kilahuma fala taqul lahuma offinwala tanharhuma waqul lahuma qawlan kareema And thy Lord has decreed that you serve not save Him; and towards parents good conduct. Surah Al-Isra, Verse 64 - **Form in this verse:** وَٱلْأَوْلَـٰدِ — wal-awlādi · "and the children" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, plural · genitive case وَاسْتَفْزِزْ مَنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ مِنْهُمْ بِصَوْتِكَ وَاَجْلِبْ عَلَيْهِمْ بِخَيْلِكَ وَرَجِلِكَ وَشَارِكْهُمْ فِي الْاَمْوَالِ وَالْاَوْلَادِ وَعِدْهُمْۜ وَمَا يَعِدُهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ اِلَّا غُرُوراً Wastafziz mani istataAAtaminhum bisawtika waajlib AAalayhim bikhaylika warajlikawasharik-hum fee al-amwali wal-awladiwaAAidhum wama yaAAiduhumu ashshaytanu illaghuroora “And incite thou whom thou canst of them with thy voice, and rally thou horse and foot against them, and partner thou them in their wealth and children, and promise thou them,” — but the satan promises them only delusion — _https://quran.so/surah-al-isra/verse-64.md_ ### 17. And there is not with Him any god; then would each god have taken what he created, and some of them would have overcome others. Surah An-Naml, Verse 19 - **Form in this verse:** وَٰلِدَىَّ — wālidayya · "my parents" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, dual · genitive case فَتَبَسَّمَ ضَاحِكاً مِنْ قَوْلِهَا وَقَالَ رَبِّ اَوْزِعْن۪ٓي اَنْ اَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّت۪ٓي اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلٰى وَالِدَيَّ وَاَنْ اَعْمَلَ صَالِحاً تَرْضٰيهُ وَاَدْخِلْن۪ي بِرَحْمَتِكَ ف۪ي عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِح۪ينَ Fatabassama dahikan min qawlihawaqala rabbi awziAAnee an ashkura niAAmataka allateeanAAamta AAalayya waAAala walidayya waan aAAmala salihantardahu waadkhilnee birahmatika fee AAibadikaassaliheen And he smiled, laughing at her speech, and he said: “My Lord: direct Thou me to be grateful for Thy favour wherewith Thou favoured me and my parents, and to work righteousness pleasing to Thee; and make Thou me enter, by Thy mercy, among Thy righteous servants.” _https://quran.so/surah-an-naml/verse-19.md_ ### 28. Surah Al-Qasas, Verse 9 - **Form in this verse:** وَلَدًۭا — waladan · "(as) a son" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case · indefinite وَقَالَتِ امْرَاَتُ فِرْعَوْنَ قُرَّتُ عَيْنٍ ل۪ي وَلَكَۜ لَا تَقْتُلُوهُۗ عَسٰٓى اَنْ يَنْفَعَنَٓا اَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُ وَلَداً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ Waqalati imraatu firAAawna qurratuAAaynin lee walaka la taqtuloohu AAasa an yanfaAAanaaw nattakhithahu waladan wahum la yashAAuroon And the wife of Pharaoh said: “A comfort of the eye for me and for thee! Surah Al-'Ankabut, Verse 8 - **Form in this verse:** بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ — biwālidayhi · "goodness to his parents" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, dual · genitive case وَوَصَّيْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ بِوَالِدَيْهِ حُسْناًۜ وَاِنْ جَاهَدَاكَ لِتُشْرِكَ ب۪ي مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِه۪ عِلْمٌ فَلَا تُطِعْهُمَاۜ اِلَيَّ مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَاُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ Wawassayna al-insana biwalidayhihusnan wa-in jahadaka litushrika bee malaysa laka bihi AAilmun fala tutiAAhumailayya marjiAAukum faonabbi-okum bima kuntum taAAmaloon And We enjoined upon man goodness to his parents; but if they strive to make thee ascribe a partnership with Me to that of which thou hast no knowledge, then obey thou them not; unto Me is your return, and I will inform you of what you did. _https://quran.so/surah-al-ankabut/verse-8.md_ ### 31. Surah Saba, Verse 37 - **Form in this verse:** أَوْلَـٰدُكُم — awlādukum · "your children" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, plural · nominative case وَمَٓا اَمْوَالُكُمْ وَلَٓا اَوْلَادُكُمْ بِالَّت۪ي تُقَرِّبُكُمْ عِنْدَنَا زُلْفٰٓى اِلَّا مَنْ اٰمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحاًۘ فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ جَزَٓاءُ الضِّعْفِ بِمَا عَمِلُوا وَهُمْ فِي الْغُرُفَاتِ اٰمِنُونَ Wama amwalukum wala awladukumbillatee tuqarribukum AAindana zulfa illaman amana waAAamila salihan faola-ikalahum jazao addiAAfi bima AAamiloowahum fee alghurufati aminoon And it is not your wealth or your children that bring you near to Us in proximity, only whoso believes and works righteousness: those have the double reward for what they did, and they will be in the high chambers, secure. _https://quran.so/surah-saba/verse-37.md_ ### 37. Surah Al-Ahqaf, Verse 15 - **Form in this verse:** بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ — biwālidayhi · "to his parents" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, dual · genitive case وَوَصَّيْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ بِوَالِدَيْهِ اِحْسَاناًۜ حَمَلَتْهُ اُمُّهُ كُرْهاً وَوَضَعَتْهُ كُرْهاًۜ وَحَمْلُهُ وَفِصَالُهُ ثَلٰثُونَ شَهْراًۜ حَتّٰٓى اِذَا بَلَغَ اَشُدَّهُ وَبَلَغَ اَرْبَع۪ينَ سَنَةًۙ قَالَ رَبِّ اَوْزِعْن۪ٓي اَنْ اَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّت۪ٓي اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلٰى وَالِدَيَّ وَاَنْ اَعْمَلَ صَالِحاً تَرْضٰيهُ وَاَصْلِحْ ل۪ي ف۪ي ذُرِّيَّت۪يۚ اِنّ۪ي تُبْتُ اِلَيْكَ وَاِنّ۪ي مِنَ الْمُسْلِم۪ينَ Wawassayna al-insanabiwalidayhi ihsanan hamalat-hu ommuhukurhan wawadaAAat-hu kurhan wahamluhu wafisaluhuthalathoona shahran hatta ithabalagha ashuddahu wabalagha arbaAAeena sanatan qala rabbiawziAAnee an ashkura niAAmataka allatee anAAamta AAalayya waAAalawalidayya waan aAAmala salihan tardahuwaaslih lee fee thurriyyatee innee tubtuilayka wa-innee mina almuslimeen And We enjoined upon man: towards his parents, good conduct. His mother bore him with aversion, and brought him forth with aversion; and the bearing of him and the weaning of him is thirty months. When he has reached maturity, and reaches forty years, he says: “My Lord: direct Thou me to be grateful for Thy favour with which Thou hast favoured me and my parents, and to work righteousness pleasing to Thee; and make Thou me right in my progeny. His mother bore him with aversion, and brought him forth with aversion; and the bearing of him and the weaning of him is thirty months. When he has reached maturity, and reaches forty years, he says: “My Lord: direct Thou me to be grateful for Thy favour with which Thou hast favoured me and my parents, and to work righteousness pleasing to Thee; and make Thou me right in my progeny. Surah Al-Ahqaf, Verse 17 - **Form in this verse:** لِوَٰلِدَيْهِ — liwālidayhi · "to his parents" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, dual · genitive case وَالَّذ۪ي قَالَ لِوَالِدَيْهِ اُفٍّ لَكُمَٓا اَتَعِدَانِن۪ٓي اَنْ اُخْرَجَ وَقَدْ خَلَتِ الْقُرُونُ مِنْ قَبْل۪ي وَهُمَا يَسْتَغ۪يثَانِ اللّٰهَ وَيْلَكَ اٰمِنْۗ اِنَّ وَعْدَ اللّٰهِ حَقٌّۚ فَيَقُولُ مَا هٰذَٓا اِلَّٓا اَسَاط۪يرُ الْاَوَّل۪ينَ Wallathee qala liwalidayhioffin lakuma ataAAidaninee an okhraja waqad khalatialquroonu min qablee wahuma yastagheethani Allahawaylaka amin inna waAAda Allahi haqqunfayaqoolu ma hatha illa asateerual-awwaleen And he who says to his parents: “Fie upon you! Do you promise me that I will be brought forth, when generations have already passed away before me?” while they seek aid of God: — “Woe to thee! Surah Al-Hadid, Verse 20 - **Form in this verse:** وَٱلْأَوْلَـٰدِ ۖ — wal-awlādi · "and the children" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, plural · genitive case اِعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّمَا الْحَيٰوةُ الدُّنْيَا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ وَز۪ينَةٌ وَتَفَاخُرٌ بَيْنَكُمْ وَتَكَاثُرٌ فِي الْاَمْوَالِ وَالْاَوْلَادِۜ كَمَثَلِ غَيْثٍ اَعْجَبَ الْكُفَّارَ نَبَاتُهُ ثُمَّ يَه۪يجُ فَتَرٰيهُ مُصْفَراًّ ثُمَّ يَكُونُ حُطَاماًۜ وَفِي الْاٰخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ شَد۪يدٌۙ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ مِنَ اللّٰهِ وَرِضْوَانٌۜ وَمَا الْحَيٰوةُ الدُّنْيَٓا اِلَّا مَتَاعُ الْغُرُورِ IAAlamoo annama alhayatuaddunya laAAibun walahwun wazeenatun watafakhurunbaynakum watakathurun fee al-amwali wal-awladikamathali ghaythin aAAjaba alkuffara nabatuhuthumma yaheeju fatarahu musfarran thumma yakoonu hutamanwafee al-akhirati AAathabun shadeedun wamaghfiratunmina Allahi waridwanun wama alhayatuaddunya illa mataAAu alghuroor Know that the life of this world is only play and diversion, and adornment, and mutual boasting among you, and competition for increase in wealth and children. As the likeness of a rain, it impresses the atheists with its growth; then it withers and thou seest it turn yellow; then it becomes debris. Surah Al-Mumtahanah, Verse 12 - **Form in this verse:** أَوْلَـٰدَهُنَّ — awlādahunna · "their children" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, plural · accusative case يَٓا اَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ اِذَا جَٓاءَكَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتُ يُبَايِعْنَكَ عَلٰٓى اَنْ لَا يُشْرِكْنَ بِاللّٰهِ شَيْـٔاً وَلَا يَسْرِقْنَ وَلَا يَزْن۪ينَ وَلَا يَقْتُلْنَ اَوْلَادَهُنَّ وَلَا يَأْت۪ينَ بِبُهْتَانٍ يَفْتَر۪ينَهُ بَيْنَ اَيْد۪يهِنَّ وَاَرْجُلِهِنَّ وَلَا يَعْص۪ينَكَ ف۪ي مَعْرُوفٍ فَبَايِعْهُنَّ وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُنَّ اللّٰهَۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ غَفُورٌ رَح۪يمٌ Ya ayyuha annabiyyu ithajaaka almu/minatu yubayiAAnaka AAalaan la yushrikna billahi shay-an walayasriqna wala yazneena wala yaqtulna awladahunnawala ya/teena bibuhtanin yaftareenahu baynaaydeehinna waarjulihinna wala yaAAseenaka feemaAAroofin fabayiAAhunna wastaghfir lahunna Allahainna Allaha ghafoorun raheem O Prophet: when the believing women come to thee, swearing fealty to thee: — that they will not ascribe a partnership with God to anything; and they will not steal; and they will not commit unlawful sexual intercourse; and they will not kill their children; and they will not produce a calumny they have invented between their hands and their feet; and they will not disobey thee in what is fitting; — then accept thou their fealty, and ask thou God to forgive them; God is forgiving and merciful. _https://quran.so/surah-al-mumtahanah/verse-12.md_ ### 63.
