Then if he has not a child and there inherit from him his parents, for his mother is one-third; but if he has brothers or sisters: for his mother is one-sixth, after a bequest he has made, or debt — your parents and your children: you know not which of them is nearer to you in benefit — as an obligation from God; God is knowing and wise. _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-11.md_ ### 4. And for them: one-fourth of what you left, if you have not a child; but if you have a child: for them is one-eighth of what you left, after a bequest you have made, or debt. And for them: one-fourth of what you left, if you have not a child; but if you have a child: for them is one-eighth of what you left, after a bequest you have made, or debt. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 131 - **Form in this verse:** وَصَّيْنَا — waṣṣaynā · "We have instructed" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of tef'il · 1st person, plural · past tense وَلِلّٰهِ مَا فِي السَّمٰوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْاَرْضِۜ وَلَقَدْ وَصَّيْنَا الَّذ۪ينَ اُو۫تُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ وَاِيَّاكُمْ اَنِ اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَۜ وَاِنْ تَكْفُرُوا فَاِنَّ لِلّٰهِ مَا فِي السَّمٰوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْاَرْضِۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ غَنِياًّ حَم۪يداً Walillahi ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi walaqad wassaynaallatheena ootoo alkitaba min qablikum wa-iyyakumani ittaqoo Allaha wa-in takfuroo fa-inna lillahi mafee assamawati wama fee al-ardiwakana Allahu ghaniyyan hameeda And to God belongs what is in the heavens and what is in the earth; and We have enjoined those given the Writ before you, and you yourselves, that you be in prudent fear of God. Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 106 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْوَصِيَّةِ — l-waṣiyati · "[the] a will" - **Grammar:** noun · feminine · genitive case يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا شَهَادَةُ بَيْنِكُمْ اِذَا حَضَرَ اَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ ح۪ينَ الْوَصِيَّةِ اثْنَانِ ذَوَا عَدْلٍ مِنْكُمْ اَوْ اٰخَرَانِ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ اِنْ اَنْتُمْ ضَرَبْتُمْ فِي الْاَرْضِ فَاَصَابَتْكُمْ مُص۪يبَةُ الْمَوْتِۜ تَحْبِسُونَهُمَا مِنْ بَعْدِ الصَّلٰوةِ فَيُقْسِمَانِ بِاللّٰهِ اِنِ ارْتَبْتُمْ لَا نَشْتَر۪ي بِه۪ ثَمَناً وَلَوْ كَانَ ذَا قُرْبٰىۙ وَلَا نَكْتُمُ شَهَادَةَ اللّٰهِ اِنَّٓا اِذاً لَمِنَ الْاٰثِم۪ينَ Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooshahadatu baynikum itha hadara ahadakumualmawtu heena alwasiyyati ithnani thawaAAadlin minkum aw akharani min ghayrikum in antum darabtumfee al-ardi faasabatkum museebatu almawti tahbisoonahumamin baAAdi assalati fayuqsimani billahiini irtabtum la nashtaree bihi thamanan walaw kana thaqurba wala naktumu shahadata Allahiinna ithan lamina al-athimeen O you who heed warning: a witness between you when death approaches one of you at the time of bequest is two just men among you; or two others from other than yourselves if you are travelling in the earth when the calamity of death befalls you. Detain them after the duty, and they shall swear by God, if you doubt: “We would not sell it for a price, though he were a relative, nor will we conceal the witness of God; then would we be among the sinners.” _https://quran.so/surah-al-maidah/verse-106.md_ ### 6. Surah Al-An'am, Verse 144 - **Form in this verse:** وَصَّىٰكُمُ — waṣṣākumu · "enjoined you" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of tef'il · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense وَمِنَ الْاِبِلِ اثْنَيْنِ وَمِنَ الْبَقَرِ اثْنَيْنِۜ قُلْ آٰلذَّكَرَيْنِ حَرَّمَ اَمِ الْاُنْثَيَيْنِ اَمَّا اشْتَمَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ اَرْحَامُ الْاُنْثَيَيْنِۜ اَمْ كُنْتُمْ شُهَدَٓاءَ اِذْ وَصّٰيكُمُ اللّٰهُ بِهٰذَاۚ فَمَنْ اَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرٰى عَلَى اللّٰهِ كَذِباً لِيُضِلَّ النَّاسَ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِم۪ينَ۟ Wamina al-ibili ithnayni wamina albaqariithnayni qul aththakarayni harramaami alonthayayni amma ishtamalat AAalayhi arhamualonthayayni am kuntum shuhadaa ith wassakumuAllahu bihatha faman athlamu mimmaniiftara AAala Allahi kathiban liyudillaannasa bighayri AAilmin inna Allaha layahdee alqawma aththalimeen “And of camels two and of oxen two––” Say thou: “Is it the two males He has forbidden or the two females? If what the wombs of the two females contain: — or if you were witnesses when God enjoined this upon you: — then who is more unjust than he who invents a lie about God, that he might lead people astray without knowledge? Surah Al-An'am, Verse 151 - **Form in this verse:** وَصَّىٰكُم — waṣṣākum · "(He) has enjoined on you" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of tef'il · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense قُلْ تَعَالَوْا اَتْلُ مَا حَرَّمَ رَبُّكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ اَلَّا تُشْرِكُوا بِه۪ شَيْـٔاًۜ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ اِحْسَاناًۚ وَلَا تَقْتُلُٓوا اَوْلَادَكُمْ مِنْ اِمْلَاقٍۜ نَحْنُ نَرْزُقُكُمْ وَاِيَّاهُمْۚ وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَۚ وَلَا تَقْتُلُوا النَّفْسَ الَّت۪ي حَرَّمَ اللّٰهُ اِلَّا بِالْحَقِّۜ ذٰلِكُمْ وَصّٰيكُمْ بِه۪ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ Qul taAAalaw atlu ma harramarabbukum AAalaykum alla tushrikoo bihi shay-an wabilwalidayniihsanan wala taqtuloo awladakum minimlaqin nahnu narzuqukum wa-iyyahum walataqraboo alfawahisha ma thahara minhawama batana wala taqtuloo annafsaallatee harrama Allahu illa bilhaqqithalikum wassakum bihi laAAallakum taAAqiloon Say thou: “Come, I will recite what your Lord has made unlawful for you: that you ascribe a partnership with Him ­­to anything (while towards parents good conduct); and kill not your children out of poverty,” — We will provide for you and for them — “and approach not sexual immoralities, whether open or concealed; and kill not the soul which God has made unlawful save with justice; ­— that He enjoined upon you, that you might use reason. _https://quran.so/surah-al-anam/verse-151.md_ ### 6. Surah Al-An'am, Verse 152 - **Form in this verse:** وَصَّىٰكُم — waṣṣākum · "(He) has enjoined on you" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of tef'il · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا مَالَ الْيَت۪يمِ اِلَّا بِالَّت۪ي هِيَ اَحْسَنُ حَتّٰى يَبْلُغَ اَشُدَّهُۚ وَاَوْفُوا الْكَيْلَ وَالْم۪يزَانَ بِالْقِسْطِۚ لَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفْساً اِلَّا وُسْعَهَا وَاِذَا قُلْتُمْ فَاعْدِلُوا وَلَوْ كَانَ ذَا قُرْبٰىۚ وَبِعَهْدِ اللّٰهِ اَوْفُواۜ ذٰلِكُمْ وَصّٰيكُمْ بِه۪ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَۙ Wala taqraboo mala alyateemiilla billatee hiya ahsanu hattayablugha ashuddahu waawfoo alkayla walmeezana bilqistila nukallifu nafsan illa wusAAaha wa-ithaqultum faAAdiloo walaw kana tha qurbawabiAAahdi Allahi awfoo thalikum wassakumbihi laAAallakum tathakkaroon “And approach not the property of the fatherless save with what is better before he reaches his maturity; and fulfil the measure and the balance with equity,” — We burden not any soul save to its capacity — “and when you speak, be just (though he be a relative); and the covenant of God fulfil; — that He commanded you, that you might take heed.” _https://quran.so/surah-al-anam/verse-152.md_ ### 6. Surah Al-'Ankabut, Verse 8 - **Form in this verse:** وَوَصَّيْنَا — wawaṣṣaynā · "And We have enjoined" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of tef'il · 1st person, plural · past tense وَوَصَّيْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ بِوَالِدَيْهِ حُسْناًۜ وَاِنْ جَاهَدَاكَ لِتُشْرِكَ ب۪ي مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِه۪ عِلْمٌ فَلَا تُطِعْهُمَاۜ اِلَيَّ مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَاُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ Wawassayna al-insana biwalidayhihusnan wa-in jahadaka litushrika bee malaysa laka bihi AAilmun fala tutiAAhumailayya marjiAAukum faonabbi-okum bima kuntum taAAmaloon And We enjoined upon man goodness to his parents; but if they strive to make thee ascribe a partnership with Me to that of which thou hast no knowledge, then obey thou them not; unto Me is your return, and I will inform you of what you did. _https://quran.so/surah-al-ankabut/verse-8.md_ ### 31. His mother bore him with aversion, and brought him forth with aversion; and the bearing of him and the weaning of him is thirty months. When he has reached maturity, and reaches forty years, he says: “My Lord: direct Thou me to be grateful for Thy favour with which Thou hast favoured me and my parents, and to work righteousness pleasing to Thee; and make Thou me right in my progeny.
