Prescribed for you when death is present with one of you, if he leaves wealth: the bequest to parents and relatives according to what is fitting is binding upon those of prudent fear.

Waqala lahum nabiyyuhum inna ayatamulkihi an ya/tiyakumu attabootu feehi sakeenatunmin rabbikum wabaqiyyatun mimma taraka alu moosawaalu haroona tahmiluhu almala-ikatuinna fee thalika laayatan lakum in kuntum mu/mineen

And their prophet said to them: “A proof of his dominion is that there will come to you the chest wherein is tranquillity from your Lord, and a remnant of what the house of Moses and the house of Aaron left, borne by angels; in that is a proof for you, if you be believers.”

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola tubtiloo sadaqatikum bilmanniwal-atha kallathee yunfiqu malahuri-aa annasi wala yu/minu billahiwalyawmi al-akhiri famathaluhu kamathali safwaninAAalayhi turabun faasabahu wabilunfatarakahu saldan la yaqdiroona AAalashay-in mimma kasaboo wallahu layahdee alqawma alkafireen

O you who heed warning: make not your charity vain through condescension and hindrance, like one who spends his wealth to be seen of men and believes not in God and the Last Day. And his likeness is as the likeness of a rock whereon is dust: a downpour fell upon it leaving it bare; they possess nothing from what they have earned; and God guides not the people of the false claimers of guidance.

And let those fear who, if they left behind them weak progeny, would be afraid for them; so let them be in prudent fear of God, and speak an apposite word.

يُوص۪يكُمُ اللّٰهُ ف۪ٓي اَوْلَادِكُمْ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْاُنْثَيَيْنِۚ فَاِنْ كُنَّ نِسَٓاءً فَوْقَ اثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُنَّ ثُلُثَا مَا تَرَكَۚ وَاِنْ كَانَتْ وَاحِدَةً فَلَهَا النِّصْفُۜ وَلِاَبَوَيْهِ لِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا السُّدُسُ مِمَّا تَرَكَ اِنْ كَانَ لَهُ وَلَدٌۚ فَاِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ وَلَدٌ وَوَرِثَهُٓ اَبَوَاهُ فَلِاُمِّهِ الثُّلُثُۚ فَاِنْ كَانَ لَهُٓ اِخْوَةٌ فَلِاُمِّهِ السُّدُسُ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوص۪ي بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۜ اٰبَٓاؤُ۬كُمْ وَاَبْنَٓاؤُ۬كُمْۚ لَا تَدْرُونَ اَيُّهُمْ اَقْرَبُ لَكُمْ نَفْعاًۚ فَر۪يضَةً مِنَ اللّٰهِۜ  اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَل۪يماً حَك۪يماً

Yooseekumu Allahu fee awladikumliththakari mithlu haththialonthayayni fa-in kunna nisaan fawqa ithnatayni falahunnathulutha ma taraka wa-in kanat wahidatanfalaha annisfu wali-abawayhi likulli wahidinminhuma assudusu mimma taraka in kanalahu waladun fa-in lam yakun lahu waladun wawarithahu abawahufali-ommihi aththuluthu fa-in kana lahu ikhwatunfali-ommihi assudusu min baAAdi wasiyyatin yooseebiha aw daynin abaokum waabnaokum latadroona ayyuhum aqrabu lakum nafAAan fareedatan mina Allahiinna Allaha kana AAaleeman hakeema

God charges you concerning your children: for the male is the like of the portion of two females; but if there are women above two, then for them is two-thirds of what he left; and if she is one, then for her is half; and for his parents: for each one of them is one-sixth of what he left if he has a child. Then if he has not a child and there inherit from him his parents, for his mother is one-third; but if he has brothers or sisters: for his mother is one-sixth, after a bequest he has made, or debt — your parents and your children: you know not which of them is nearer to you in benefit — as an obligation from God; God is knowing and wise.

And for them: one-fourth of what you left, if you have not a child; but if you have a child: for them is one-eighth of what you left, after a bequest you have made, or debt. And if a man or a woman be inherited with no immediate heir but has a brother or sister, for each of them is one-sixth; but if they are more than that, then are they partners in one-third, after a bequest he has made, or debt, without harm, as a bequest from God; and God is knowing and clement.

وَلَكُمْ نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ اَزْوَاجُكُمْ اِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌۚ فَاِنْ كَانَ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌ فَلَكُمُ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْنَ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوص۪ينَ بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۜ وَلَهُنَّ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ اِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌۚ فَاِنْ كَانَ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌ فَلَهُنَّ الثُّمُنُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ تُوصُونَ بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۜ وَاِنْ كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُورَثُ كَلَالَةً اَوِ امْرَاَةٌ وَلَهُٓ اَخٌ اَوْ اُخْتٌ فَلِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا السُّدُسُۚ فَاِنْ كَانُٓوا اَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذٰلِكَ فَهُمْ شُرَكَٓاءُ فِي الثُّلُثِ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصٰى بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۙ غَيْرَ مُضَٓارٍّۚ وَصِيَّةً مِنَ اللّٰهِۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَل۪يمٌ حَل۪يمٌۜ

Walakum nisfu ma taraka azwajukumin lam yakun lahunna waladun fa-in kana lahunna waladunfalakumu arrubuAAu mimma tarakna min baAAdi wasiyyatinyooseena biha aw daynin walahunna arrubuAAumimma taraktum in lam yakun lakum waladun fa-in kanalakum waladun falahunna aththumunu mimma taraktummin baAAdi wasiyyatin toosoona biha awdaynin wa-in kana rajulun yoorathu kalalatan awiimraatun walahu akhun aw okhtun falikulli wahidin minhumaassudusu fa-in kanoo akthara min thalikafahum shurakao fee aththuluthi min baAAdi wasiyyatinyoosa biha aw daynin ghayra mudarrin wasiyyatanmina Allahi wallahu AAaleemun haleem

And for you is half of what your wives left if they have not a child; but if they have a child, then for you is one-fourth of what they left, after a bequest they have made, or debt. And for them: one-fourth of what you left, if you have not a child; but if you have a child: for them is one-eighth of what you left, after a bequest you have made, or debt. And if a man or a woman be inherited with no immediate heir but has a brother or sister, for each of them is one-sixth; but if they are more than that, then are they partners in one-third, after a bequest he has made, or debt, without harm, as a bequest from God; and God is knowing and clement.

And for all have We appointed heirs to what parents and relatives leave; and those with whom you have entered into contract: give them their share; God is witness over all things.

They ask thee for a ruling. Say thou: “God gives you the ruling concerning those without an immediate heir: if a man perishes without a child but has a sister: for her is half of what he left, and he inherits from her if she has not a child. But if there are two females: for them is two-thirds of what he left. And if they are brethren, men and women: for the male is the like of the share of two females.” And God makes plain to you lest you go astray; and God knows all things.

Walaqad ji/tumoona furadakama khalaqnakum awwala marratin wataraktum makhawwalnakum waraa thuhoorikum wamanara maAAakum shufaAAaakumu allatheenazaAAamtum annahum feekum shurakao laqad taqattaAAabaynakum wadalla AAankum ma kuntum tazAAumoon

“And now have you come to Us alone, as We created you the first time; and you have left all that We conferred upon you behind your backs; and We see not with you your intercessors which you claimed were among you as partners; it is cut off between you, and strayed from you is what you claimed.”

Walaw shi/na larafaAAnahu bihawalakinnahu akhlada ila al-ardi wattabaAAahawahu famathaluhu kamathali alkalbi in tahmilAAalayhi yalhath aw tatruk-hu yalhath thalika mathalualqawmi allatheena kaththaboo bi-ayatinafaqsusi alqasasa laAAallahumyatafakkaroon

And had We willed, We would have raised him thereby; but he clung to the earth and followed his vain desire. So his likeness is as the likeness of a dog: if thou win him over, he pants; or if thou leave him, he pants. That is the likeness of the people who deny Our proofs; so relate thou to them the story, that they might reflect.

If you think that you will be left when God knows not those among you who have striven, and have taken — besides God, and His messenger, and the believers — no confidant[...]. And God is aware of what you do.

FalaAAallaka tarikun baAAda mayooha ilayka wada-iqun bihi sadruka anyaqooloo lawla onzila AAalayhi kanzun aw jaamaAAahu malakun innama anta natheerun wallahuAAala kulli shay-in wakeel

Then thou mightest leave some of what is revealed to thee, and thy breast be straitened, that they say: “Oh, that a treasure had but been sent down upon him, or an angel had but come with him!” Thou art only a warner; and God is guardian over all things.

Said he: “There will not come to you food wherewith you are provided save that I will have informed you of its interpretation before it comes to you. That is from what my Lord has taught me. I have left the creed of people who believe not in God; and they, of the Hereafter, are deniers.

Walaw yu-akhithu Allahuannasa bithulmihim ma tarakaAAalayha min dabbatin walakin yu-akhkhiruhumila ajalin musamman fa-itha jaa ajaluhum layasta/khiroona saAAatan wala yastaqdimoon

And were God to take men to task for their injustice, He would not leave upon it any creature; but He delays them to a stated term. And when their term comes, they will not defer an hour, nor will they advance.

And were God to take men for what they earn, He would not leave any creature upon its surface. But He delays them to a stated term. But when their term comes, then is God of His servants seeing.

But when they see trade or diversion, they disband towards it and leave thee standing. Say thou: “That which is with God is better than diversion or trade”; and God is the best of providers.
