Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 102 - **Form in this verse:** أُنزِلَ — unzila · "was sent down" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of if'al · passive · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense وَاتَّـبَعُوا مَا تَتْلُوا الشَّيَاط۪ينُ عَلٰى مُلْكِ سُلَيْمٰنَۚ وَمَا كَفَرَ سُلَيْمٰنُ وَلٰكِنَّ الشَّيَاط۪ينَ كَفَرُوا يُعَلِّمُونَ النَّاسَ السِّحْرَۗ وَمَٓا اُنْزِلَ عَلَى الْمَلَكَيْنِ بِبَابِلَ هَارُوتَ وَمَارُوتَۜ وَمَا يُعَلِّمَانِ مِنْ اَحَدٍ حَتّٰى يَقُولَٓا اِنَّمَا نَحْنُ فِتْنَةٌ فَلَا تَكْفُرْۜ فَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مِنْهُمَا مَا يُفَرِّقُونَ بِه۪ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَزَوْجِه۪ۜ وَمَا هُمْ بِضَٓارّ۪ينَ بِه۪ مِنْ اَحَدٍ اِلَّا بِاِذْنِ اللّٰهِۜ وَيَتَعَلَّمُونَ مَا يَضُرُّهُمْ وَلَا يَنْفَعُهُمْۜ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمُوا لَمَنِ اشْتَرٰيهُ مَا لَهُ فِي الْاٰخِرَةِ مِنْ خَلَاقٍ۠ وَلَبِئْسَ مَا شَرَوْا بِه۪ٓ اَنْفُسَهُمْۜ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ WattabaAAoo ma tatloo ashshayateenuAAala mulki sulaymana wama kafara sulaymanuwalakinna ashshayateena kafarooyuAAallimoona annasa assihra wamaonzila AAala almalakayni bibabila harootawamaroota wama yuAAallimani min ahadinhatta yaqoola innama nahnufitnatun fala takfur fayataAAallamoona minhuma mayufarriqoona bihi bayna almar-i wazawjihi wama hum bidarreenabihi min ahadin illa bi-ithni AllahiwayataAAallamoona ma yadurruhum walayanfaAAuhum walaqad AAalimoo lamani ishtarahu malahu fee al-akhirati min khalaqin walabi/sa masharaw bihi anfusahum law kanoo yaAAlamoon And they followed what the satans recited during the reign of Solomon; and Solomon denied not; but the satans denied, teaching men sorcery, and what was sent down upon the two angels at Babylon, Hārūt and Mārūt. And they taught no one until they had said: “We are but a means of denial, so deny thou not.” Then from them they learn that by which they cause division between a man and his wife; but they harm no one thereby save by the leave of God. And they learn what harms them, and profits them not, knowing well that whoso buys it has in the Hereafter no share; and evil is that for which they sold their souls, had they but known. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-102.md_ ### 2. So whoso among you witnesses the moon, let him fast in it. And whoso of you is sick or on a journey: then a number of other days. And there differed therein only those who were given it, after clear signs had come to them, through sectarian zealotry between them. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 231 - **Form in this verse:** أَنزَلَ — anzala · "(is) revealed" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of if'al · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense وَاِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ النِّسَٓاءَ فَبَلَغْنَ اَجَلَهُنَّ فَاَمْسِكُوهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوفٍ اَوْ سَرِّحُوهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوفٍۖ وَلَا تُمْسِكُوهُنَّ ضِرَاراً لِتَعْتَدُواۚ وَمَنْ يَفْعَلْ ذٰلِكَ فَقَدْ ظَلَمَ نَفْسَهُۜ وَلَا تَتَّخِذُٓوا اٰيَاتِ اللّٰهِ هُزُواًۘ وَاذْكُرُوا نِعْمَتَ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَمَٓا اَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَالْحِكْمَةِ يَعِظُـكُمْ بِه۪ۜ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَل۪يمٌ۟ Wa-itha tallaqtumu annisaafabalaghna ajalahunna faamsikoohunna bimaAAroofin aw sarrihoohunnabimaAAroofin wala tumsikoohunna diraranlitaAAtadoo waman yafAAal thalika faqad thalamanafsahu wala tattakhithoo ayati Allahihuzuwan wathkuroo niAAmata Allahi AAalaykumwama anzala AAalaykum mina alkitabi walhikmatiyaAAithukum bihi wattaqoo Allaha waAAlamooanna Allaha bikulli shay-in AAaleem And when you divorce women, and they have reached their term, then retain them according to what is fitting or release them according to what is fitting. And retain them not through harm, to transgress; and whoso does that has wronged himself. And take not the proofs of God in mockery; and remember the favour of God upon you, and what He has sent down to you of the Writ and wisdom whereby He admonishes you. Then as for those in whose hearts is deviation: they follow what is ambiguous thereof, seeking the means of denial, and seeking its interpretation. And no one knows its interpretation save God, and those firm in knowledge; they say: “We believe in it; all is from our Lord.” But only those of insight take heed. _https://quran.so/surah-ali-imran/verse-7.md_ ### 3. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 154 - **Form in this verse:** أَنزَلَ — anzala · "He sent down" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of if'al · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense ثُمَّ اَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ الْغَمِّ اَمَنَةً نُعَاساً يَغْشٰى طَٓائِفَةً مِنْكُمْۙ وَطَٓائِفَةٌ قَدْ اَهَمَّتْهُمْ اَنْفُسُهُمْ يَظُنُّونَ بِاللّٰهِ غَيْرَ الْحَقِّ ظَنَّ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِۜ يَقُولُونَ هَلْ لَنَا مِنَ الْاَمْرِ مِنْ شَيْءٍۜ قُلْ اِنَّ الْاَمْرَ كُلَّهُ لِلّٰهِۜ يُخْفُونَ ف۪ٓي اَنْفُسِهِمْ مَا لَا يُبْدُونَ لَكَۜ يَقُولُونَ لَوْ كَانَ لَنَا مِنَ الْاَمْرِ شَيْءٌ مَا قُتِلْنَا هٰهُنَاۜ قُلْ لَوْ كُنْتُمْ ف۪ي بُيُوتِكُمْ لَبَرَزَ الَّذ۪ينَ كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقَتْلُ اِلٰى مَضَاجِعِهِمْۚ وَلِيَبْتَلِيَ اللّٰهُ مَا ف۪ي صُدُورِكُمْ وَلِيُمَحِّصَ مَا ف۪ي قُلُوبِكُمْۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَل۪يمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ Thumma anzala AAalaykum min baAAdi alghammiamanatan nuAAasan yaghsha ta-ifatan minkumwata-ifatun qad ahammat-hum anfusuhum yathunnoonabillahi ghayra alhaqqi thannaaljahiliyyati yaqooloona hal lana mina al-amri minshay-in qul inna al-amra kullahu lillahi yukhfoona feeanfusihim ma la yubdoona laka yaqooloona law kanalana mina al-amri shay-on ma qutilna hahunaqul law kuntum fee buyootikum labaraza allatheena kutibaAAalayhimu alqatlu ila madajiAAihim waliyabtaliyaAllahu ma fee sudoorikum waliyumahhisama fee quloobikum wallahu AAaleemun bithatiassudoor Then He sent down upon you, after distress, security, slumber overcoming a number of you; and a number had grieved themselves thinking about God other than the truth — the thought of ignorance — saying: “Have we any part in the affair?” Say thou: “The affair belongs entirely to God.” They hide within themselves what they reveal not to thee, saying: “Had we any part in the affair, we would not have been slain here.” Say thou: “Had you been in your houses, those for whom killing was decreed would have gone forth to their resting places”; and: “That God might try what is in your breasts”; and: “That He might refine what is in your hearts.” And God knows what is in the breasts. _https://quran.so/surah-ali-imran/verse-154.md_ ### 3. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 113 - **Form in this verse:** وَأَنزَلَ — wa-anzala · "And has sent down" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of if'al · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَتُهُ لَهَمَّتْ طَٓائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ اَنْ يُضِلُّوكَۜ وَمَا يُضِلُّونَ اِلَّٓا اَنْفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَضُرُّونَكَ مِنْ شَيْءٍۜ وَاَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَعَلَّمَكَ مَا لَمْ تَكُنْ تَعْلَمُۜ وَكَانَ فَضْلُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكَ عَظ۪يماً Walawla fadlu AllahiAAalayka warahmatuhu lahammat ta-ifatun minhum anyudillooka wama yudilloona illaanfusahum wama yadurroonaka min shay-in waanzalaAllahu AAalayka alkitaba walhikmatawaAAallamaka ma lam takun taAAlamu wakana fadluAllahi AAalayka AAatheema And were it not for the bounty of God and His mercy upon thee, a number of them had purposed to lead thee astray; and they lead astray only themselves, and they harm thee not at all. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 153 - **Form in this verse:** تُنَزِّلَ — tunazzila · "you bring down" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of tef'il · 2nd person, masculine, singular · present tense يَسْـَٔلُكَ اَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ اَنْ تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْهِمْ كِتَاباً مِنَ السَّمَٓاءِ فَقَدْ سَاَلُوا مُوسٰٓى اَكْبَرَ مِنْ ذٰلِكَ فَقَالُٓوا اَرِنَا اللّٰهَ جَهْرَةً فَاَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ بِظُلْمِهِمْۚ ثُمَّ اتَّخَذُوا الْعِجْلَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَٓاءَتْهُمُ الْبَيِّنَاتُ فَعَفَوْنَا عَنْ ذٰلِكَۚ وَاٰتَيْنَا مُوسٰى سُلْطَاناً مُب۪يناً Yas-aluka ahlu alkitabi an tunazzilaAAalayhim kitaban mina assama-i faqadsaaloo moosa akbara min thalika faqaloo arinaAllaha jahratan faakhathat-humu assaAAiqatubithulmihim thumma ittakhathoo alAAijla minbaAAdi ma jaat-humu albayyinatu faAAafawnaAAan thalika waatayna moosa sultananmubeena The doctors of the Law ask thee to bring down upon them a Writ from the sky; and they asked of Moses greater than that; they said: “Show thou us God openly”; so the thunderbolt seized them for their injustice. Then took they up the calf after clear signs had come to them, and We pardoned that; and We gave Moses a clear authority. _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-153.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 162 - **Form in this verse:** أُنزِلَ — unzila · "(is) revealed" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of if'al · passive · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense لٰكِنِ الرَّاسِخُونَ فِي الْعِلْمِ مِنْهُمْ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِمَٓا اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْكَ وَمَٓا اُنْزِلَ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ وَالْمُق۪يم۪ينَ الصَّلٰوةَ وَالْمُؤْتُونَ الزَّكٰوةَ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ سَنُؤْت۪يهِمْ اَجْراً عَظ۪يماً۟ Lakini arrasikhoonafee alAAilmi minhum walmu/minoona yu/minoona bimaonzila ilayka wama onzila min qablika walmuqeemeenaassalata walmu/toona azzakatawalmu/minoona billahi walyawmi al-akhiriola-ika sanu/teehim ajran AAatheema But those firm in knowledge and the believers among them believe in what is sent down to thee, and what was sent down before thee, as do the upholders of the duty, and the renderers of the purity, and the believers in God and the Last Day — those will We give a great reward. _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-162.md_ ### 4. The prophets who submitted judged thereby those who hold to Judaism as did the rabbis and the religious scholars with what ­they were given charge of the Writ of God and were thereto witnesses: “So fear not mankind but fear Me; and sell not My proofs at a cheap price.” And whoso judges not by what God has sent down, it is they who are the false claimers of guidance. _https://quran.so/surah-al-maidah/verse-44.md_ ### 5. So judge thou between them by what God has sent down; and follow thou not their vain desires away from what has come to thee of the truth. For each of you We appointed an ordinance and a procedure. And had God willed, He could have made you one community; but that He might try you in what He gave you[...]. — So vie in good deeds; unto God will you return all together, and He will inform you of that wherein you differed — _https://quran.so/surah-al-maidah/verse-48.md_ ### 5. Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 64 - **Form in this verse:** أُنزِلَ — unzila · "has been revealed" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of if'al · passive · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ يَدُ اللّٰهِ مَغْلُولَةٌۜ غُلَّتْ اَيْد۪يهِمْ وَلُعِنُوا بِمَا قَالُواۢ بَلْ يَدَاهُ مَبْسُوطَتَانِۙ يُنْفِقُ كَيْفَ يَشَٓاءُۜ وَلَيَز۪يدَنَّ كَث۪يراً مِنْهُمْ مَٓا اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ طُغْيَاناً وَكُفْراًۜ وَاَلْقَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ الْعَدَاوَةَ وَالْبَغْضَٓاءَ اِلٰى يَوْمِ الْقِيٰمَةِۜ كُلَّمَٓا اَوْقَدُوا نَاراً لِلْحَرْبِ اَطْفَاَهَا اللّٰهُۙ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِي الْاَرْضِ فَسَاداًۜ وَاللّٰهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُفْسِد۪ينَ Waqalati alyahoodu yadu Allahimaghloolatun ghullat aydeehim waluAAinoo bima qaloobal yadahu mabsootatani yunfiqu kayfa yashaowalayazeedanna katheeran minhum ma onzila ilayka minrabbika tughyanan wakufran waalqaynabaynahumu alAAadawata walbaghdaa ilayawmi alqiyamati kullama awqadoo naran lilharbiatfaaha Allahu wayasAAawna fee al-ardifasadan wallahu la yuhibbualmufsideen And the Rabbinic Jews say: “The hand of God is fettered.” Fettered are their hands! And cursed are they for what they say! Nay, His hands are spread wide; He spends how He wills. And there increases many of them in inordinacy and denial what was sent down to thee from thy Lord. And We have cast among them enmity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection; whenever they lit the fire of war, God extinguished it; and they strive in the land for corruption; and God loves not the workers of corruption. _https://quran.so/surah-al-maidah/verse-64.md_ ### 5. Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 66 - **Form in this verse:** أُنزِلَ — unzila · "was revealed" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of if'al · passive · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense وَلَوْ اَنَّهُمْ اَقَامُوا التَّوْرٰيةَ وَالْاِنْج۪يلَ وَمَٓا اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْهِمْ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ لَاَكَلُوا مِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ وَمِنْ تَحْتِ اَرْجُلِهِمْۜ مِنْهُمْ اُمَّةٌ مُقْتَصِدَةٌۜ وَكَث۪يرٌ مِنْهُمْ سَٓاءَ مَا يَعْمَلُونَ۟ Walaw annahum aqamoo attawratawal-injeela wama onzila ilayhim min rabbihimlaakaloo min fawqihim wamin tahti arjulihim minhum ommatunmuqtasidatun wakatheerun minhum saa mayaAAmaloon And had they upheld the Torah and the Gospel and what was sent down to them from their Lord, they would have eaten from above them and from under their feet. Surah Al-An'am, Verse 91 - **Form in this verse:** أَنزَلَ — anzala · "revealed" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of if'al · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللّٰهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِه۪ٓ اِذْ قَالُوا مَٓا اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى بَشَرٍ مِنْ شَيْءٍۜ قُلْ مَنْ اَنْزَلَ الْكِتَابَ الَّذ۪ي جَٓاءَ بِه۪ مُوسٰى نُوراً وَهُدًى لِلنَّاسِ تَجْعَلُونَهُ قَرَاط۪يسَ تُبْدُونَهَا وَتُخْفُونَ كَث۪يراًۚ وَعُلِّمْتُمْ مَا لَمْ تَعْلَمُٓوا اَنْتُمْ وَلَٓا اٰبَٓاؤُ۬كُمْۜ قُلِ اللّٰهُۙ ثُمَّ ذَرْهُمْ ف۪ي خَوْضِهِمْ يَلْعَبُونَ Wama qadaroo Allaha haqqaqadrihi ith qaloo ma anzala AllahuAAala basharin min shay-in qul man anzala alkitabaallathee jaa bihi moosa nooran wahudan linnasitajAAaloonahu qarateesa tubdoonaha watukhfoonakatheeran waAAullimtum ma lam taAAlamoo antum wala abaokumquli Allahu thumma tharhum fee khawdihimyalAAaboon And they measured God not with the measure due Him when they said: “God has not sent down upon a mortal anything.” Say thou: “Who sent down the Writ which Moses brought as a light and guidance for men?” (You make it into parchments which you show; and you conceal much; and you were taught what you knew not, you and your fathers.) Surah Al-An'am, Verse 93 - **Form in this verse:** سَأُنزِلُ — sa-unzilu · "I will reveal" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of if'al · 1st person, singular · present tense وَمَنْ اَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرٰى عَلَى اللّٰهِ كَذِباً اَوْ قَالَ اُو۫حِيَ اِلَيَّ وَلَمْ يُوحَ اِلَيْهِ شَيْءٌ وَمَنْ قَالَ سَاُنْزِلُ مِثْلَ مَٓا اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُۜ وَلَوْ تَرٰٓى اِذِ الظَّالِمُونَ ف۪ي غَمَرَاتِ الْمَوْتِ وَالْمَلٰٓئِكَةُ بَاسِطُٓوا اَيْد۪يهِمْۚ اَخْرِجُٓوا اَنْفُسَكُمْۜ اَلْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ عَذَابَ الْهُونِ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَقُولُونَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ غَيْرَ الْحَقِّ وَكُنْتُمْ عَنْ اٰيَاتِه۪ تَسْتَكْبِرُونَ Waman athlamu mimmani iftaraAAala Allahi kathiban aw qala oohiyailayya walam yooha ilayhi shay-on waman qalasaonzilu mithla ma anzala Allahu walaw taraithi aththalimoona fee ghamaratialmawti walmala-ikatu basitooaydeehim akhrijoo anfusakumu alyawma tujzawna AAathabaalhooni bima kuntum taqooloona AAala Allahighayra alhaqqi wakuntum AAan ayatihitastakbiroon And who is more unjust than he who invents a lie about God, or says: “It has been revealed to me,” when nothing has been revealed to him, and who says: “I will send down the like of what God sent down”? And if thou couldst see when the wrongdoers are in the throes of death and the angels stretching out their hands: “Bring forth your souls; this day are you rewarded with the punishment of humiliation because you ascribed to God other than the truth, and waxed proud at His proofs!”[...]. _https://quran.so/surah-al-anam/verse-93.md_ ### 6.
