And when his Lord tried Abraham with words and he fulfilled them, He said: “I will make thee a leader for mankind.” Said he: “And of my progeny?” He said: “My covenant does not reach the wrongdoers.”

You attain not to virtue until you spend of what you love; and what you spend of anything, God knows it.

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoolayabluwannakumu Allahu bishay-in mina assayditanaluhu aydeekum warimahukum liyaAAlama Allahuman yakhafuhu bilghaybi famani iAAtadabaAAda thalika falahu AAathabun aleem

O you who heed warning: God will try you with something of the game that your hands and your spears reach, that God might know him who fears Him unseen. Then whoso transgresses after that, for him is a painful punishment.

### 7. Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 37

فَمَنْ اَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرٰى عَلَى اللّٰهِ كَذِباً اَوْ كَذَّبَ بِاٰيَاتِه۪ۜ  اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ يَنَالُهُمْ نَص۪يبُهُمْ مِنَ الْكِتَابِۜ حَتّٰٓى اِذَا جَٓاءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا يَتَوَفَّوْنَهُمْۙ قَالُٓوا اَيْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللّٰهِۜ قَالُوا ضَلُّوا عَنَّا وَشَهِدُوا عَلٰٓى اَنْفُسِهِمْ اَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا كَافِر۪ينَ

Faman athlamu mimmani iftaraAAala Allahi kathiban aw kaththababi-ayatihi ola-ika yanaluhum naseebuhummina alkitabi hatta itha jaat-humrusuluna yatawaffawnahum qaloo ayna makuntum tadAAoona min dooni Allahi qaloo dallooAAanna washahidoo AAala anfusihim annahum kanookafireen

And who is more unjust than he who invents a lie about God, or denies His proofs? Those: there reaches them their portion of the Writ; when Our messengers come to them, to take them, they say: “Where is that to which you called besides God?” They will say: “They have strayed from us.” And they will bear witness against themselves that they were false claimers of guidance.

### 7. Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 49

Ahaola-i allatheenaaqsamtum la yanaluhumu Allahu birahmatinodkhuloo aljannata la khawfun AAalaykum wala antumtahzanoon

“Are these they whom you swore God would never reach with mercy?” — “Enter the Garden! You need not fear, nor will you grieve!”

### 7. Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 152

Inna allatheena ittakhathooalAAijla sayanaluhum ghadabun min rabbihim wathillatunfee alhayati addunya wakathalikanajzee almuftareen

(Those who took up the calf: there will reach them wrath from their Lord, and humiliation in the life of this world; and thus do We requite the forgers.

### 9. Surah At-Tawbah, Verse 74

يَحْلِفُونَ بِاللّٰهِ مَا قَالُواۜ وَلَقَدْ قَالُوا كَلِمَةَ الْكُفْرِ وَكَفَرُوا بَعْدَ اِسْلَامِهِمْ وَهَمُّوا بِمَا لَمْ يَنَالُواۚ وَمَا نَقَمُٓوا اِلَّٓا اَنْ اَغْنٰيهُمُ اللّٰهُ وَرَسُولُهُ مِنْ فَضْلِه۪ۚ فَاِنْ يَتُوبُوا يَكُ خَيْراً لَهُمْۚ وَاِنْ يَتَوَلَّوْا يُعَذِّبْهُمُ اللّٰهُ عَذَاباً اَل۪يماً فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْاٰخِرَةِۚ وَمَا لَهُمْ فِي الْاَرْضِ مِنْ وَلِيٍّ وَلَا نَص۪يرٍ

Yahlifoona billahi maqaloo walaqad qaloo kalimata alkufri wakafaroobaAAda islamihim wahammoo bima lam yanaloowama naqamoo illa an aghnahumu Allahuwarasooluhu min fadlihi fa-in yatooboo yaku khayran lahumwa-in yatawallaw yuAAaththibhumu Allahu AAathabanaleeman fee addunya wal-akhiratiwama lahum fee al-ardi min waliyyin wala naseer

They swear by God that they did not say — when they did say — the word of denial, and denied after their submission. And they purposed what they have not reached; and they resented only that God and His messenger enriched them of His bounty. Then if they repent, it will be better for them; and if they turn away, God will punish them with a painful punishment in the World and the Hereafter; and they will not have in the earth any ally or helper.

### 9. Surah At-Tawbah, Verse 120

مَا كَانَ لِاَهْلِ الْمَد۪ينَةِ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُمْ مِنَ الْاَعْرَابِ اَنْ يَتَخَلَّفُوا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللّٰهِ وَلَا يَرْغَبُوا بِاَنْفُسِهِمْ عَنْ نَفْسِه۪ۜ ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّهُمْ لَا يُص۪يبُهُمْ ظَمَاٌ وَلَا نَصَبٌ وَلَا مَخْمَصَةٌ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ وَلَا يَطَؤُ۫نَ مَوْطِئاً يَغ۪يظُ الْكُفَّارَ وَلَا يَنَالُونَ مِنْ عَدُوٍّ نَيْلاً اِلَّا كُتِبَ لَهُمْ بِه۪ عَمَلٌ صَالِحٌۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يُض۪يعُ اَجْرَ الْمُحْسِن۪ينَۙ

Ma kana li-ahli almadeenatiwaman hawlahum mina al-aAArabi an yatakhallafooAAan rasooli Allahi wala yarghaboo bi-anfusihimAAan nafsihi thalika bi-annahum la yuseebuhumthamaon wala nasabun walamakhmasatun fee sabeeli Allahi wala yataoonamawti-an yagheethu alkuffara walayanaloona min AAaduwwin naylan illa kutiba lahumbihi AAamalun salihun inna Allaha layudeeAAu ajra almuhsineen

It is not for the people of the city and those around them of the desert Arabs to remain behind the messenger of God, and prefer their lives to his life. Is it not that there befalls them neither thirst, nor fatigue, nor hunger, in the cause of God, neither take they any step that enrages the atheists, nor achieve they against the enemy an attainment save that it is recorded for them as a righteous deed! God causes not to be lost the reward of the doers of good.

### 22. Surah Al-Hajj, Verse 37

لَنْ يَنَالَ اللّٰهَ لُحُومُهَا وَلَا دِمَٓاؤُ۬هَا وَلٰكِنْ يَنَالُهُ التَّقْوٰى مِنْكُمْۜ  كَذٰلِكَ سَخَّرَهَا لَكُمْ لِتُكَبِّرُوا اللّٰهَ عَلٰى مَا هَدٰيكُمْۜ وَبَشِّرِ الْمُحْسِن۪ينَ

Lan yanala Allaha luhoomuhawala dimaoha walakin yanaluhuattaqwa minkum kathalika sakhkharahalakum litukabbiroo Allaha AAala ma hadakumwabashshiri almuhsineen

Their flesh does not reach God, nor their blood. But prudent fear reaches Him from you. Thus have We made them subject for you, that you might magnify God for guiding you. And bear thou glad tidings to the doers of good.

### 22. Surah Al-Hajj, Verse 37

لَنْ يَنَالَ اللّٰهَ لُحُومُهَا وَلَا دِمَٓاؤُ۬هَا وَلٰكِنْ يَنَالُهُ التَّقْوٰى مِنْكُمْۜ  كَذٰلِكَ سَخَّرَهَا لَكُمْ لِتُكَبِّرُوا اللّٰهَ عَلٰى مَا هَدٰيكُمْۜ وَبَشِّرِ الْمُحْسِن۪ينَ

Lan yanala Allaha luhoomuhawala dimaoha walakin yanaluhuattaqwa minkum kathalika sakhkharahalakum litukabbiroo Allaha AAala ma hadakumwabashshiri almuhsineen

### 33. Surah Al-Ahzab, Verse 25

وَرَدَّ اللّٰهُ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا بِغَيْظِهِمْ لَمْ يَنَالُوا خَيْراًۜ وَكَفَى اللّٰهُ الْمُؤْمِن۪ينَ الْقِتَالَۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ قَوِياًّ عَز۪يزاًۚ

Waradda Allahu allatheenakafaroo bighaythihim lam yanaloo khayranwakafa Allahu almu/mineena alqitala wakanaAllahu qawiyyan AAazeeza

And God repelled those who ignored warning in their wrath — they have not attained to good; and God sufficed the believers in the fight; and God is strong and exalted in might.
