Qala ya qawmi araaytum inkuntu AAala bayyinatin min rabbee warazaqanee minhu rizqanhasanan wama oreedu an okhalifakum ilama anhakum AAanhu in oreedu illa al-islahama istataAAtu wama tawfeeqee illa billahiAAalayhi tawakkaltu wa-ilayhi oneeb

He said: “O my people: have you considered: if I be upon clear evidence from my Lord, and He has provided me with a goodly provision from Him[...]? But I desire not to oppose you in that which I forbid you; I desire only right ordering, so far as I am able. And my success is only through God; in Him have I placed my trust, and to Him do I turn.”

And those who ignore warning say: “Oh, that a proof were but sent down upon him from his Lord!” Say thou: “God leads astray whom He wills, and guides to Him such as turn back:

And when affliction touches men, they call to their Lord, turning in repentance to Him; then when He lets them taste mercy from Him, then a faction among them ascribes a partnership to their Lord,

Wa-in jahadaka AAala antushrika bee ma laysa laka bihi AAilmun fala tutiAAhumawasahibhuma fee addunya maAAroofanwattabiAA sabeela man anaba ilayya thumma ilayyamarjiAAukum faonabbi-okum bima kuntum taAAmaloon

“But if they strive with thee to make thee ascribe a partnership to that of which thou hast no knowledge, then obey thou them not. And accompany thou them in the World according to what is fitting; but follow thou the path of him who turns to Me. Then to Me is your return, and I will tell you what you did.”

Afalam yaraw ila ma baynaaydeehim wama khalfahum mina assama-i wal-ardiin nasha/ nakhsif bihimu al-arda aw nusqitAAalayhim kisafan mina assama-i inna fee thalikalaayatan likulli AAabdin muneeb

Do they then not see what is before them, and what following them of the heaven and the earth? If We will, We can make the earth swallow them, or cause to fall upon them pieces of the sky. In that is a proof for every repentant servant.

### 38. Surah Sad, Verse 24

قَالَ لَقَدْ ظَلَمَكَ بِسُؤَالِ نَعْجَتِكَ اِلٰى نِعَاجِه۪ۜ وَاِنَّ كَث۪يراً مِنَ الْخُلَطَٓاءِ لَيَبْغ۪ي بَعْضُهُمْ عَلٰى بَعْضٍ اِلَّا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَقَل۪يلٌ مَا هُمْۜ وَظَنَّ دَاوُ۫دُ اَنَّمَا فَتَنَّاهُ فَاسْتَغْفَرَ رَبَّهُ وَخَرَّ رَا‌كِعاً وَاَنَابَ

Qala laqad thalamakabisu-ali naAAjatika ila niAAajihi wa-innakatheeran mina alkhulata-i layabghee baAAduhum AAalabaAAdin illa allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati waqaleelun mahum wathanna dawoodu annama fatannahufastaghfara rabbahu wakharra rakiAAan waanab

Said he: “He has wronged thee in asking thy ewe for his ewes; and many among acquaintances oppress one another save those who heed warning and do righteous deeds — and few are they.” And David understood that We had but subjected him to means of denial; and he asked forgiveness of his Lord, and fell down humbly and repented.

### 38. Surah Sad, Verse 34

Wa-itha massa al-insana durrundaAAa rabbahu muneeban ilayhi thumma ithakhawwalahu niAAmatan minhu nasiya ma kana yadAAooilayhi min qablu wajaAAala lillahi andadan liyudillaAAan sabeelihi qul tamattaAA bikufrika qaleelan innaka min as-habiannar

And when affliction touches man, he calls to his Lord, turning to Him; then when He confers upon him favour from Him, he forgets that for which he called to Him before, and makes equals to God, to lead astray from His path. Say thou: “Enjoy thou thy denial a little — thou art of the companions of the Fire.”

### 39. Surah Az-Zumar, Verse 17

And those who avoid idols lest they serve them and turn to God, for them are glad tidings. So give thou glad tidings to My servants:

“And turn in repentance to your Lord, and submit to Him before there comes to you the punishment; then will you not be helped.”

(He it is that shows you His proofs and sends down for you from the sky provision; and there takes heed only whoso turns in repentance.

### 42. Surah Ash-Shuraa, Verse 10

And that wherein you differ in anything, the judgment thereof is to God: “That is God, my Lord; in whom I place my trust, and to whom I turn.”

شَرَعَ لَكُمْ مِنَ الدّ۪ينِ مَا وَصّٰى بِه۪ نُوحاً وَالَّـذ۪ٓي اَوْحَيْنَٓا اِلَيْكَ وَمَا وَصَّيْنَا بِه۪ٓ اِبْرٰه۪يمَ وَمُوسٰى وَع۪يسٰٓى اَنْ اَق۪يمُوا الدّ۪ينَ وَلَا تَتَفَرَّقُوا ف۪يهِۜ   كَبُرَ عَلَى الْمُشْرِك۪ينَ مَا تَدْعُوهُمْ اِلَيْهِۜ اَللّٰهُ يَجْتَب۪ٓي اِلَيْهِ مَنْ يَشَٓاءُ وَيَهْد۪ٓي اِلَيْهِ مَنْ يُن۪يبُ

SharaAAa lakum mina addeeni mawassa bihi noohan wallathee awhaynailayka wama wassayna bihi ibraheemawamoosa waAAeesa an aqeemoo addeena walatatafarraqoo feehi kabura AAala almushrikeena matadAAoohum ilayhi Allahu yajtabee ilayhi man yashaowayahdee ilayhi man yuneeb

He ordained for you of doctrine what He enjoined upon Noah, and that We have revealed to thee, and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus: “Uphold the doctrine, and be not divided therein.” Difficult for the idolaters is that to which thou invitest them. God chooses for Himself whom He wills, and guides to Himself him who turns in repentance.

قَدْ كَانَتْ لَكُمْ اُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ ف۪ٓي اِبْرٰه۪يمَ وَالَّذ۪ينَ مَعَهُۚ اِذْ قَالُوا لِقَوْمِهِمْ اِنَّا بُرَءٰٓؤُ۬ا مِنْكُمْ وَمِمَّا تَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللّٰهِۘ   كَفَرْنَا بِكُمْ وَبَدَا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمُ الْعَدَاوَةُ وَالْبَغْضَٓاءُ اَبَداً حَتّٰى تُؤْمِنُوا بِاللّٰهِ وَحْدَهُٓ اِلَّا قَوْلَ اِبْرٰه۪يمَ لِاَب۪يهِ لَاَسْتَغْفِرَنَّ لَكَ وَمَٓا اَمْلِكُ لَكَ مِنَ اللّٰهِ مِنْ شَيْءٍۜ رَبَّـنَا عَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْنَا وَاِلَيْكَ اَنَبْنَا وَاِلَيْكَ الْمَص۪يرُ

Qad kanat lakum oswatun hasanatunfee ibraheema wallatheena maAAahu ithqaloo liqawmihim inna buraao minkum wamimmataAAbudoona min dooni Allahi kafarna bikum wabadabaynana wabaynakumu alAAadawatu walbaghdaoabadan hatta tu/minoo billahi wahdahuilla qawla ibraheema li-abeehi laastaghfiranna lakawama amliku laka mina Allahi min shay-in rabbanaAAalayka tawakkalna wa-ilayka anabna wa-ilayka almaseer

There was for you a good model in Abraham and those with him when they said to their people: “We are quit of you and what you serve besides God. We deny you, and become clear between us and you are enmity and hatred forever until you believe in God alone,” — save the saying of Abraham to his father: “I will ask forgiveness for thee, but I have no power for thee against God.” — “Our Lord: in Thee we place our trust; and to Thee have we turned; and to Thee is the journey’s end.
