But when We removed the scourge from them to a term they were to reach, then they reneged.

Wa-in nakathoo aymanahum min baAAdiAAahdihim wataAAanoo fee deenikum faqatilooa-immata alkufri innahum la aymana lahumlaAAallahum yantahoon

And if they renege on their oaths after their covenant and revile your doctrine, then fight the leaders of denial: they have no oaths that they might desist.

اَلَا تُقَاتِلُونَ قَوْماً نَكَثُٓوا اَيْمَانَهُمْ وَهَمُّوا بِاِخْرَاجِ الرَّسُولِ وَهُمْ بَدَؤُ۫كُمْ اَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍۜ اَتَخْشَوْنَهُمْۚ فَاللّٰهُ اَحَقُّ اَنْ تَخْشَوْهُ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِن۪ينَ

Ala tuqatiloona qawmannakathoo aymanahum wahammoo bi-ikhraji arrasooliwahum badaookum awwala marratin atakhshawnahum fallahuahaqqu an takhshawhu in kuntum mu/mineen

Will you not fight a people who broke their oaths, and purposed to turn the Messenger out, and began against you the first time? Do you fear them? Then God is worthier that you should fear Him, if you be believers.

### 16. Surah An-Nahl, Verse 92

وَلَا تَكُونُوا كَالَّت۪ي نَقَضَتْ غَزْلَهَا مِنْ بَعْدِ قُوَّةٍ اَنْكَاثاًۜ تَتَّخِذُونَ اَيْمَانَكُمْ دَخَلاً بَيْنَكُمْ اَنْ تَكُونَ اُمَّةٌ هِيَ اَرْبٰى مِنْ اُمَّةٍۜ اِنَّمَا يَبْلُوكُمُ اللّٰهُ بِه۪ۜ وَلَيُبَيِّنَنَّ لَكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ مَا كُنْتُمْ ف۪يهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ

Wala takoonoo kallatee naqadatghazlaha min baAAdi quwwatin ankathan tattakhithoonaaymanakum dakhalan baynakum an takoona ommatun hiya arbamin ommatin innama yablookumu Allahu bihiwalayubayyinanna lakum yawma alqiyamati ma kuntumfeehi takhtalifoon

And be not like her who breaks her thread after it was strong into fibres, taking your oaths as a deception between you because one community is more numerous than another community. God but tries you thereby; and He will make plain to you on the Day of Resurrection that wherein you differed.

### 43. Surah Az-Zukhruf, Verse 50

اِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ يُبَايِعُونَكَ اِنَّمَا يُبَايِعُونَ اللّٰهَۜ يَدُ اللّٰهِ فَوْقَ اَيْد۪يهِمْۚ فَمَنْ نَكَثَ فَاِنَّمَا يَنْكُثُ عَلٰى نَفْسِه۪ۚ وَمَنْ اَوْفٰى بِمَا عَاهَدَ عَلَيْهُ اللّٰهَ فَسَيُؤْت۪يهِ اَجْراً عَظ۪يماً۟

Inna allatheena yubayiAAoonakainnama yubayiAAoona Allaha yadu Allahifawqa aydeehim faman nakatha fa-innama yankuthu AAalanafsihi waman awfa bima AAahada AAalayhu Allahafasayu/teehi ajran AAatheema

Those who swear fealty to thee but swear fealty to God; the hand of God is over their hands. Then whoso reneges, he but reneges against his soul. And whoso fulfils what he has taken upon him as a covenant to God, He will give him a great reward.

### 48. Surah Al-Fath, Verse 10
