Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 26 - **Form in this verse:** مَثَلًۭا — mathalan · "an example" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case · indefinite اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَسْتَحْـي۪ٓ اَنْ يَضْرِبَ مَثَلاً مَا بَعُوضَةً فَمَا فَوْقَهَاۜ فَاَمَّا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا فَيَعْلَمُونَ اَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْۚ وَاَمَّا الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا فَيَقُولُونَ مَاذَٓا اَرَادَ اللّٰهُ بِهٰذَا مَثَلاًۢ يُضِلُّ بِه۪ كَث۪يراً وَيَهْد۪ي بِه۪ كَث۪يراًۜ وَمَا يُضِلُّ بِه۪ٓ اِلَّا الْفَاسِق۪ينَۙ Inna Allaha la yastahyeean yadriba mathalan ma baAAoodatan famafawqaha faamma allatheena amanoofayaAAlamoona annahu alhaqqu min rabbihim waammaallatheena kafaroo fayaqooloona matha aradaAllahu bihatha mathalan yudillu bihikatheeran wayahdee bihi katheeran wama yudillu bihiilla alfasiqeen God is not ashamed to strike a similitude, be it of a gnat or of what is above it. Then as for those who heed warning: they know that it is the truth from their Lord; and as for those who ignore warning: they say: “What means God by this similitude?” He leads astray many thereby, and He guides many thereby; and He leads astray thereby only the perfidious: _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-26.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 113 - **Form in this verse:** مِثْلَ — mith'la · "similar" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ لَيْسَتِ النَّصَارٰى عَلٰى شَيْءٍۖ وَقَالَتِ النَّصَارٰى لَيْسَتِ الْيَهُودُ عَلٰى شَيْءٍۙ وَهُمْ يَتْلُونَ الْكِتَابَۜ كَذٰلِكَ قَالَ الَّذ۪ينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ مِثْلَ قَوْلِهِمْۚ فَاللّٰهُ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ ف۪يمَا كَانُوا ف۪يهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ Waqalati alyahoodu laysati annasaraAAala shay-in waqalati annasaralaysati alyahoodu AAala shay-in wahum yatloona alkitabakathalika qala allatheena layaAAlamoona mithla qawlihim fallahu yahkumubaynahum yawma alqiyamati feema kanoo feehiyakhtalifoon And the Rabbinic Jews say: “The Christians have nothing to stand upon,” and the Christians say: “The Rabbinic Jews have nothing to stand upon,” when they read the Writ; thus say those who know not likewise. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 118 - **Form in this verse:** مِّثْلَ — mith'la · "similar" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case وَقَالَ الَّذ۪ينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ لَوْلَا يُكَلِّمُنَا اللّٰهُ اَوْ تَأْت۪ينَٓا اٰيَةٌۜ كَذٰلِكَ قَالَ الَّذ۪ينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ مِثْلَ قَوْلِهِمْۜ تَشَابَهَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْۜ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا الْاٰيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ Waqala allatheena layaAAlamoona lawla yukallimuna Allahu awta/teena ayatun kathalika qala allatheenamin qablihim mithla qawlihim tashabahat quloobuhum qadbayyanna al-ayati liqawmin yooqinoon And those who know not say: “Oh, that God would but speak to us, or a proof but come to us!” Thus said those before them likewise; their hearts are similar. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 137 - **Form in this verse:** بِمِثْلِ — bimith'li · "in (the) like" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case فَاِنْ اٰمَنُوا بِمِثْلِ مَٓا اٰمَنْتُمْ بِه۪ فَقَدِ اهْتَدَوْاۚ وَاِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَاِنَّمَا هُمْ ف۪ي شِقَاقٍۚ فَسَيَكْف۪يكَهُمُ اللّٰهُۚ وَهُوَ السَّم۪يعُ الْعَل۪يمُۜ Fa-in amanoo bimithli ma amantumbihi faqadi ihtadaw wa-in tawallaw fa-innama hum fee shiqaqinfasayakfeekahumu Allahu wahuwa assameeAAualAAaleem Then if they believe in the like of that in which you believe, they have been guided; but if they turn away, they are only in schism. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 194 - **Form in this verse:** بِمِثْلِ — bimith'li · "in (the) same manner" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case اَلشَّهْرُ الْحَرَامُ بِالشَّهْرِ الْحَرَامِ وَالْحُرُمَاتُ قِصَاصٌۜ فَمَنِ اعْتَدٰى عَلَيْكُمْ فَاعْتَدُوا عَلَيْهِ بِمِثْلِ مَا اعْتَدٰى عَلَيْكُمْۖ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَ الْمُتَّق۪ينَ Ashshahru alharamu bishshahrialharami walhurumatu qisasunfamani iAAtada AAalaykum faAAtadoo AAalayhibimithli ma iAAtada AAalaykum wattaqoo AllahawaAAlamoo anna Allaha maAAa almuttaqeen The inviolable month is for the inviolable month, and the inviolable deeds are just requital: whoso transgressed against you, transgress against him just as he transgressed against you. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 214 - **Form in this verse:** مَّثَلُ — mathalu · "like (came to)" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case اَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ اَنْ تَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ وَلَمَّا يَأْتِكُمْ مَثَلُ الَّذ۪ينَ خَلَوْا مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْۜ مَسَّتْهُمُ الْبَأْسَٓاءُ وَالضَّرَّٓاءُ وَزُلْزِلُوا حَتّٰى يَقُولَ الرَّسُولُ وَالَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا مَعَهُ مَتٰى نَصْرُ اللّٰهِۜ اَلَٓا اِنَّ نَصْرَ اللّٰهِ قَر۪يبٌ Am hasibtum an tadkhuloo aljannatawalamma ya/tikum mathalu allatheena khalaw minqablikum massat-humu alba/sao waddarraowazulziloo hatta yaqoola arrasoolu wallatheenaamanoo maAAahu mata nasru Allahi alainna nasra Allahi qareeb If you think that you will enter the Garden when there has not come to you the like of those who passed away before you: affliction and adversity touched them, and they were shaken until the Messenger and those who heeded warning with him said: “When is the help of God?” In truth, the help of God is near. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-214.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 228 - **Form in this verse:** مِثْلُ — mith'lu · "(is the) like" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case وَالْمُطَلَّقَاتُ يَتَرَبَّصْنَ بِاَنْفُسِهِنَّ ثَلٰثَةَ قُرُٓوءٍۜ وَلَا يَحِلُّ لَهُنَّ اَنْ يَكْتُمْنَ مَا خَلَقَ اللّٰهُ ف۪ٓي اَرْحَامِهِنَّ اِنْ كُنَّ يُؤْمِنَّ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِۜ وَبُعُولَتُهُنَّ اَحَقُّ بِرَدِّهِنَّ ف۪ي ذٰلِكَ اِنْ اَرَادُٓوا اِصْلَاحاًۜ وَلَهُنَّ مِثْلُ الَّذ۪ي عَلَيْهِنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِۖ وَلِلرِّجَالِ عَلَيْهِنَّ دَرَجَةٌۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَز۪يزٌ حَك۪يمٌ۟ Walmutallaqatuyatarabbasna bi-anfusihinna thalathata quroo-in walayahillu lahunna an yaktumna ma khalaqa Allahufee arhamihinna in kunna yu/minna billahiwalyawmi al-akhiri wabuAAoolatuhunna ahaqqubiraddihinna fee thalika in aradoo islahanwalahunna mithlu allathee AAalayhinna bilmaAAroofiwalirrijali AAalayhinna darajatun wallahuAAazeezun hakeem And divorced women shall wait by themselves three menstrual courses; and it is not lawful for them to conceal what God has created in their wombs, if they believe in God and the Last Day. And their husbands are worthier to take them back during that if they desire right ordering. And due to women is the like of what is due from them, according to what is fitting, but men have a degree over them. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 233 - **Form in this verse:** مِثْلُ — mith'lu · "(is a duty) like" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case وَالْوَالِدَاتُ يُرْضِعْنَ اَوْلَادَهُنَّ حَوْلَيْنِ كَامِلَيْنِ لِمَنْ اَرَادَ اَنْ يُـتِمَّ الرَّضَاعَةَۜ وَعَلَى الْمَوْلُودِ لَهُ رِزْقُهُنَّ وَكِسْوَتُهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِۜ لَا تُكَلَّفُ نَفْسٌ اِلَّا وُسْعَهَاۚ لَا تُضَٓارَّ وَالِدَةٌ بِوَلَدِهَا وَلَا مَوْلُودٌ لَهُ بِوَلَدِه۪ وَعَلَى الْوَارِثِ مِثْلُ ذٰلِكَۚ فَاِنْ اَرَادَا فِصَالاً عَنْ تَرَاضٍ مِنْهُمَا وَتَشَاوُرٍ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِمَاۜ وَاِنْ اَرَدْتُمْ اَنْ تَسْتَرْضِعُٓوا اَوْلَادَكُمْ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ اِذَا سَلَّمْتُمْ مَٓا اٰتَيْتُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِۜ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَص۪يرٌ Walwalidatu yurdiAAnaawladahunna hawlayni kamilayni liman aradaan yutimma arradaAAata waAAala almawloodilahu rizquhunna wakiswatuhunna bilmaAAroofi latukallafu nafsun illa wusAAaha la tudarrawalidatun biwaladiha wala mawloodun lahubiwaladihi waAAala alwarithi mithlu thalikafa-in arada fisalan AAan taradinminhuma watashawurin fala junahaAAalayhima wa-in aradtum an tastardiAAoo awladakumfala junaha AAalaykum itha sallamtum maataytum bilmaAAroofi wattaqoo AllahawaAAlamoo anna Allaha bima taAAmaloona baseer And mothers shall suckle their children two complete years, for such as wish to complete the suckling. And upon the father is their provision and their clothing, according to what is fitting. No soul is burdened save to its capacity. A mother shall not be hurt by her child, nor a father by his child. And upon the heir is the like of that. And if they desire weaning by mutual consent and consultation between them, then they do no wrong. And if you desire to seek one to suckle your children, then you do no wrong when you deliver what you have brought according to what is fitting. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 261 - **Form in this verse:** مَّثَلُ — mathalu · "Example" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case مَثَلُ الَّذ۪ينَ يُنْفِقُونَ اَمْوَالَهُمْ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ كَمَثَلِ حَبَّةٍ اَنْبَتَتْ سَبْعَ سَنَابِلَ ف۪ي كُلِّ سُنْبُلَةٍ مِائَةُ حَبَّةٍۜ وَاللّٰهُ يُضَاعِفُ لِمَنْ يَشَٓاءُۜ وَاللّٰهُ وَاسِعٌ عَل۪يمٌ Mathalu allatheena yunfiqoona amwalahumfee sabeeli Allahi kamathali habbatin anbatatsabAAa sanabila fee kulli sunbulatin mi-atu habbatinwallahu yudaAAifu liman yashao wallahuwasiAAun AAaleem The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the cause of God is as the likeness of a grain which grows seven ears, in each ear a hundred grains. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 264 - **Form in this verse:** فَمَثَلُهُۥ — famathaluhu · "Then his example" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا لَا تُبْطِلُوا صَدَقَاتِكُمْ بِالْمَنِّ وَالْاَذٰىۙ كَالَّذ۪ي يُنْفِقُ مَالَهُ رِئَٓاءَ النَّاسِ وَلَا يُؤْمِنُ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِۜ فَمَثَلُهُ كَمَثَلِ صَفْوَانٍ عَلَيْهِ تُرَابٌ فَاَصَابَهُ وَابِلٌ فَتَرَكَهُ صَلْداًۜ لَا يَقْدِرُونَ عَلٰى شَيْءٍ مِمَّا كَسَبُواۜ وَاللّٰهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْكَافِر۪ينَ Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola tubtiloo sadaqatikum bilmanniwal-atha kallathee yunfiqu malahuri-aa annasi wala yu/minu billahiwalyawmi al-akhiri famathaluhu kamathali safwaninAAalayhi turabun faasabahu wabilunfatarakahu saldan la yaqdiroona AAalashay-in mimma kasaboo wallahu layahdee alqawma alkafireen O you who heed warning: make not your charity vain through condescension and hindrance, like one who spends his wealth to be seen of men and believes not in God and the Last Day. And his likeness is as the likeness of a rock whereon is dust: a downpour fell upon it leaving it bare; they possess nothing from what they have earned; and God guides not the people of the false claimers of guidance. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-264.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 264 - **Form in this verse:** كَمَثَلِ — kamathali · "(is) like" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا لَا تُبْطِلُوا صَدَقَاتِكُمْ بِالْمَنِّ وَالْاَذٰىۙ كَالَّذ۪ي يُنْفِقُ مَالَهُ رِئَٓاءَ النَّاسِ وَلَا يُؤْمِنُ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِۜ فَمَثَلُهُ كَمَثَلِ صَفْوَانٍ عَلَيْهِ تُرَابٌ فَاَصَابَهُ وَابِلٌ فَتَرَكَهُ صَلْداًۜ لَا يَقْدِرُونَ عَلٰى شَيْءٍ مِمَّا كَسَبُواۜ وَاللّٰهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْكَافِر۪ينَ Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola tubtiloo sadaqatikum bilmanniwal-atha kallathee yunfiqu malahuri-aa annasi wala yu/minu billahiwalyawmi al-akhiri famathaluhu kamathali safwaninAAalayhi turabun faasabahu wabilunfatarakahu saldan la yaqdiroona AAalashay-in mimma kasaboo wallahu layahdee alqawma alkafireen O you who heed warning: make not your charity vain through condescension and hindrance, like one who spends his wealth to be seen of men and believes not in God and the Last Day. And his likeness is as the likeness of a rock whereon is dust: a downpour fell upon it leaving it bare; they possess nothing from what they have earned; and God guides not the people of the false claimers of guidance. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-264.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 275 - **Form in this verse:** مِثْلُ — mith'lu · "(is) like" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case اَلَّذ۪ينَ يَأْكُلُونَ الرِّبٰوا لَا يَقُومُونَ اِلَّا كَمَا يَقُومُ الَّذ۪ي يَتَخَبَّطُهُ الشَّيْطَانُ مِنَ الْمَسِّۜ ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّهُمْ قَالُٓوا اِنَّمَا الْبَيْعُ مِثْلُ الرِّبٰواۢ وَاَحَلَّ اللّٰهُ الْبَيْعَ وَحَرَّمَ الرِّبٰواۜ فَمَنْ جَٓاءَهُ مَوْعِظَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّه۪ فَانْتَهٰى فَلَهُ مَا سَلَفَۜ وَاَمْرُهُٓ اِلَى اللّٰهِۜ وَمَنْ عَادَ فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ اَصْحَابُ النَّارِۚ هُمْ ف۪يهَا خَالِدُونَ Allatheena ya/kuloona arribala yaqoomoona illa kama yaqoomu allatheeyatakhabbatuhu ashshaytanu mina almassi thalikabi-annahum qaloo innama albayAAu mithlu arribawaahalla Allahu albayAAa waharrama arribafaman jaahu mawAAithatun min rabbihi fantahafalahu ma salafa waamruhu ila Allahi wamanAAada faola-ika as-habu annarihum feeha khalidoon Those who consume usury will not stand save as stands he whom the satan buffets with his touch; for it is that they say: “Commerce is but the same as usury,” when God has made commerce lawful and forbidden usury! And he to whom came the admonition from his Lord, and desisted: he has what is past, and his case is with God. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 13 - **Form in this verse:** مِّثْلَيْهِمْ — mith'layhim · "twice of them" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, dual · accusative case قَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ اٰيَةٌ ف۪ي فِئَتَيْنِ الْتَقَتَاۜ فِئَةٌ تُقَاتِلُ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ وَاُخْرٰى كَافِرَةٌ يَرَوْنَهُمْ مِثْلَيْهِمْ رَأْيَ الْعَيْنِۜ وَاللّٰهُ يُؤَيِّدُ بِنَصْرِه۪ مَنْ يَشَٓاءُۜ اِنَّ ف۪ي ذٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِاُو۬لِي الْاَبْصَارِ Qad kana lakum ayatun feefi-atayni iltaqata fi-atun tuqatilu fee sabeeli Allahiwaokhra kafiratun yarawnahum mithlayhim ra/yaalAAayni wallahu yu-ayyidu binasrihi manyashao inna fee thalika laAAibratan li-olee al-absar There had been a proof for you in the two hosts which met: one host fighting in the cause of God, and another denying; they saw them as twice their like by the sight of the eye. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 11 - **Form in this verse:** مِثْلُ — mith'lu · "like" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case يُوص۪يكُمُ اللّٰهُ ف۪ٓي اَوْلَادِكُمْ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْاُنْثَيَيْنِۚ فَاِنْ كُنَّ نِسَٓاءً فَوْقَ اثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُنَّ ثُلُثَا مَا تَرَكَۚ وَاِنْ كَانَتْ وَاحِدَةً فَلَهَا النِّصْفُۜ وَلِاَبَوَيْهِ لِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا السُّدُسُ مِمَّا تَرَكَ اِنْ كَانَ لَهُ وَلَدٌۚ فَاِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ وَلَدٌ وَوَرِثَهُٓ اَبَوَاهُ فَلِاُمِّهِ الثُّلُثُۚ فَاِنْ كَانَ لَهُٓ اِخْوَةٌ فَلِاُمِّهِ السُّدُسُ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوص۪ي بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۜ اٰبَٓاؤُ۬كُمْ وَاَبْنَٓاؤُ۬كُمْۚ لَا تَدْرُونَ اَيُّهُمْ اَقْرَبُ لَكُمْ نَفْعاًۚ فَر۪يضَةً مِنَ اللّٰهِۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَل۪يماً حَك۪يماً Yooseekumu Allahu fee awladikumliththakari mithlu haththialonthayayni fa-in kunna nisaan fawqa ithnatayni falahunnathulutha ma taraka wa-in kanat wahidatanfalaha annisfu wali-abawayhi likulli wahidinminhuma assudusu mimma taraka in kanalahu waladun fa-in lam yakun lahu waladun wawarithahu abawahufali-ommihi aththuluthu fa-in kana lahu ikhwatunfali-ommihi assudusu min baAAdi wasiyyatin yooseebiha aw daynin abaokum waabnaokum latadroona ayyuhum aqrabu lakum nafAAan fareedatan mina Allahiinna Allaha kana AAaleeman hakeema God charges you concerning your children: for the male is the like of the portion of two females; but if there are women above two, then for them is two-thirds of what he left; and if she is one, then for her is half; and for his parents: for each one of them is one-sixth of what he left if he has a child. Then if he has not a child and there inherit from him his parents, for his mother is one-third; but if he has brothers or sisters: for his mother is one-sixth, after a bequest he has made, or debt — your parents and your children: you know not which of them is nearer to you in benefit — as an obligation from God; God is knowing and wise. _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-11.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 140 - **Form in this verse:** مِّثْلُهُمْ ۗ — mith'luhum · "(would be) like them" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case وَقَدْ نَزَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الْكِتَابِ اَنْ اِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ اٰيَاتِ اللّٰهِ يُكْفَرُ بِهَا وَيُسْتَهْزَاُ بِهَا فَلَا تَقْعُدُوا مَعَهُمْ حَتّٰى يَخُوضُوا ف۪ي حَد۪يثٍ غَيْرِه۪ۘ اِنَّكُمْ اِذاً مِثْلُهُمْۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ جَامِـعُ الْمُنَافِق۪ينَ وَالْكَافِر۪ينَ ف۪ي جَهَنَّمَ جَم۪يعاًۙ Waqad nazzala AAalaykum fee alkitabian itha samiAAtum ayati Allahiyukfaru biha wayustahzao biha fala taqAAudoomaAAahum hatta yakhoodoo fee hadeethinghayrihi innakum ithan mithluhum inna Allaha jamiAAualmunafiqeena walkafireena fee jahannamajameeAAa (And He has sent down upon you in the Writ that when you hear the proofs of God denied and mocked: “Sit not with them until they discourse vainly concerning a subject other than that; then would you be like them.”) God will gather the waverers and the false claimers of guidance into Gehenna all together: _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-140.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 176 - **Form in this verse:** مِثْلُ — mith'lu · "like" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case يَسْتَفْتُونَكَۜ قُلِ اللّٰهُ يُفْت۪يكُمْ فِي الْكَلَالَةِۜ اِنِ امْرُؤٌا هَلَكَ لَيْسَ لَهُ وَلَدٌ وَلَهُٓ اُخْتٌ فَلَهَا نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَۚ وَهُوَ يَرِثُـهَٓا اِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهَا وَلَدٌۜ فَاِنْ كَانَتَا اثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُمَا الثُّلُثَانِ مِمَّا تَرَكَۜ وَاِنْ كَانُٓوا اِخْوَةً رِجَالاً وَنِسَٓاءً فَلِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْاُنْثَيَيْنِۜ يُبَيِّنُ اللّٰهُ لَكُمْ اَنْ تَضِلُّواۜ وَاللّٰهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَل۪يمٌ Yastaftoonaka quli Allahu yufteekumfee alkalalati ini imruon halaka laysa lahu waladun walahuokhtun falaha nisfu ma taraka wahuwayarithuha in lam yakun laha waladun fa-in kanataithnatayni falahuma aththuluthani mimmataraka wa-in kanoo ikhwatan rijalan wanisaanfaliththakari mithlu haththialonthayayni yubayyinu Allahu lakum an tadilloo wallahubikulli shay-in AAaleem They ask thee for a ruling. Say thou: “God gives you the ruling concerning those without an immediate heir: if a man perishes without a child but has a sister: for her is half of what he left, and he inherits from her if she has not a child. But if there are two females: for them is two-thirds of what he left. And if they are brethren, men and women: for the male is the like of the share of two females.” And God makes plain to you lest you go astray; and God knows all things. _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-176.md_ ### 5. Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 31 - **Form in this verse:** مِثْلَ — mith'la · "like" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case فَبَعَثَ اللّٰهُ غُرَاباً يَبْحَثُ فِي الْاَرْضِ لِيُرِيَهُ كَيْفَ يُوَار۪ي سَوْاَةَ اَخ۪يهِۜ قَالَ يَا وَيْلَتٰٓى اَعَجَزْتُ اَنْ اَكُونَ مِثْلَ هٰذَا الْغُرَابِ فَاُوَارِيَ سَوْاَةَ اَخ۪يۚ فَاَصْبَحَ مِنَ النَّادِم۪ينَۚۛ FabaAAatha Allahu ghuraban yabhathufee al-ardi liyuriyahu kayfa yuwaree saw-ataakheehi qala ya waylata aAAajaztu an akoonamithla hatha alghurabi faowariya saw-ataakhee faasbaha mina annadimeen Then God raised up a raven, scratching in the earth, to show him how to hide the shame of his brother. He said: “Woe is me! Am I not able to be as this raven, and hide the shame of my brother?” And he became of the remorseful. _https://quran.so/surah-al-maidah/verse-31.md_ ### 5. Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 36 - **Form in this verse:** وَمِثْلَهُۥ — wamith'lahu · "and the like of it" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case اِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْ اَنَّ لَهُمْ مَا فِي الْاَرْضِ جَم۪يعاً وَمِثْلَهُ مَعَهُ لِيَفْتَدُوا بِه۪ مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِ الْقِيٰمَةِ مَا تُقُبِّلَ مِنْهُمْۚ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ اَل۪يمٌ Inna allatheena kafaroo law annalahum ma fee al-ardi jameeAAan wamithlahu maAAahuliyaftadoo bihi min AAathabi yawmi alqiyamati matuqubbila minhum walahum AAathabun aleem Those who ignore warning: were they to have all that is in the earth and the like thereof with it to seek to ransom themselves thereby from the punishment on the Day of Resurrection, it would not be accepted from them; and they have a painful punishment. _https://quran.so/surah-al-maidah/verse-36.md_ ### 5. Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 95 - **Form in this verse:** مِّثْلُ — mith'lu · "(is) similar" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا لَا تَقْتُلُوا الصَّيْدَ وَاَنْتُمْ حُرُمٌۜ وَمَنْ قَتَلَهُ مِنْكُمْ مُتَعَمِّداً فَجَزَٓاءٌ مِثْلُ مَا قَتَلَ مِنَ النَّعَمِ يَحْكُمُ بِه۪ ذَوَا عَدْلٍ مِنْكُمْ هَدْياً بَالِغَ الْكَعْبَةِ اَوْ كَفَّارَةٌ طَعَامُ مَسَاك۪ينَ اَوْ عَدْلُ ذٰلِكَ صِيَاماً لِيَذُوقَ وَبَالَ اَمْرِه۪ۜ عَفَا اللّٰهُ عَمَّا سَلَفَۜ وَمَنْ عَادَ فَيَنْتَقِمُ اللّٰهُ مِنْهُۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَز۪يزٌ ذُوانْتِقَامٍ Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola taqtuloo assayda waantum hurumunwaman qatalahu minkum mutaAAammidan fajazaon mithlu maqatala mina annaAAami yahkumu bihi thawaAAadlin minkum hadyan baligha alkaAAbati aw kaffaratuntaAAamu masakeena aw AAadlu thalika siyamanliyathooqa wabala amrihi AAafa AllahuAAamma salafa waman AAada fayantaqimu Allahuminhu wallahu AAazeezun thoo intiqam O you who heed warning: kill no game when you are forbidden; and whoso of you kills it intentionally: the payment is the like of what he killed from grazing livestock. Let judge it two just men from among you by an offering reaching the kaʿba, or expiation: feeding needy persons or the equivalent of that in fasting, that he might taste the evil consequence of his deed. Surah Al-An'am, Verse 93 - **Form in this verse:** مِثْلَ — mith'la · "like" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case وَمَنْ اَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرٰى عَلَى اللّٰهِ كَذِباً اَوْ قَالَ اُو۫حِيَ اِلَيَّ وَلَمْ يُوحَ اِلَيْهِ شَيْءٌ وَمَنْ قَالَ سَاُنْزِلُ مِثْلَ مَٓا اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُۜ وَلَوْ تَرٰٓى اِذِ الظَّالِمُونَ ف۪ي غَمَرَاتِ الْمَوْتِ وَالْمَلٰٓئِكَةُ بَاسِطُٓوا اَيْد۪يهِمْۚ اَخْرِجُٓوا اَنْفُسَكُمْۜ اَلْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ عَذَابَ الْهُونِ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَقُولُونَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ غَيْرَ الْحَقِّ وَكُنْتُمْ عَنْ اٰيَاتِه۪ تَسْتَكْبِرُونَ Waman athlamu mimmani iftaraAAala Allahi kathiban aw qala oohiyailayya walam yooha ilayhi shay-on waman qalasaonzilu mithla ma anzala Allahu walaw taraithi aththalimoona fee ghamaratialmawti walmala-ikatu basitooaydeehim akhrijoo anfusakumu alyawma tujzawna AAathabaalhooni bima kuntum taqooloona AAala Allahighayra alhaqqi wakuntum AAan ayatihitastakbiroon And who is more unjust than he who invents a lie about God, or says: “It has been revealed to me,” when nothing has been revealed to him, and who says: “I will send down the like of what God sent down”? And if thou couldst see when the wrongdoers are in the throes of death and the angels stretching out their hands: “Bring forth your souls; this day are you rewarded with the punishment of humiliation because you ascribed to God other than the truth, and waxed proud at His proofs!”[...]. _https://quran.so/surah-al-anam/verse-93.md_ ### 6. Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 169 - **Form in this verse:** مِّثْلُهُۥ — mith'luhu · "similar to it" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case فَخَلَفَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ وَرِثُوا الْكِتَابَ يَأْخُذُونَ عَرَضَ هٰذَا الْاَدْنٰى وَيَقُولُونَ سَيُغْفَرُ لَنَاۚ وَاِنْ يَأْتِهِمْ عَرَضٌ مِثْلُهُ يَأْخُذُوهُۜ اَلَمْ يُؤْخَذْ عَلَيْهِمْ م۪يثَاقُ الْكِتَابِ اَنْ لَا يَقُولُوا عَلَى اللّٰهِ اِلَّا الْحَقَّ وَدَرَسُوا مَا ف۪يهِۜ وَالدَّارُ الْاٰخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِلَّذ۪ينَ يَتَّقُونَۜ اَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ Fakhalafa min baAAdihim khalfun warithooalkitaba ya/khuthoona AAarada hathaal-adna wayaqooloona sayughfaru lana wa-in ya/tihimAAaradun mithluhu ya/khuthoohu alam yu/khathAAalayhim meethaqu alkitabi an la yaqoolooAAala Allahi illa alhaqqa wadarasoo mafeehi waddaru al-akhiratu khayrun lillatheenayattaqoona afala taAAqiloon And there followed after them successors who inherited the Writ, taking the goods of this fleeting life, and saying: “It will be forgiven us.” And if there come to them goods the like thereof, they will take them. Has there not been taken from them an agreement to the Writ, that they ascribe not to God save the truth, and that they study what is therein? Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 176 - **Form in this verse:** فَمَثَلُهُۥ — famathaluhu · "So his example" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَرَفَعْنَاهُ بِهَا وَلٰكِنَّهُٓ اَخْلَدَ اِلَى الْاَرْضِ وَاتَّـبَعَ هَوٰيهُۚ فَمَثَلُهُ كَمَثَلِ الْكَلْبِۚ اِنْ تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْهِ يَلْهَثْ اَوْ تَتْرُكْهُ يَلْهَثْۜ ذٰلِكَ مَثَلُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذ۪ينَ كَذَّبُوا بِاٰيَاتِنَاۚ فَاقْصُصِ الْقَصَصَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ Walaw shi/na larafaAAnahu bihawalakinnahu akhlada ila al-ardi wattabaAAahawahu famathaluhu kamathali alkalbi in tahmilAAalayhi yalhath aw tatruk-hu yalhath thalika mathalualqawmi allatheena kaththaboo bi-ayatinafaqsusi alqasasa laAAallahumyatafakkaroon And had We willed, We would have raised him thereby; but he clung to the earth and followed his vain desire. So his likeness is as the likeness of a dog: if thou win him over, he pants; or if thou leave him, he pants. Surah Yunus, Verse 24 - **Form in this verse:** مَثَلُ — mathalu · "(the) example" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case اِنَّمَا مَثَلُ الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَا كَمَٓاءٍ اَنْزَلْنَاهُ مِنَ السَّمَٓاءِ فَاخْتَلَطَ بِه۪ نَبَاتُ الْاَرْضِ مِمَّا يَأْكُلُ النَّاسُ وَالْاَنْعَامُۜ حَتّٰٓى اِذَٓا اَخَذَتِ الْاَرْضُ زُخْرُفَهَا وَازَّيَّـنَتْ وَظَنَّ اَهْلُهَٓا اَنَّهُمْ قَادِرُونَ عَلَيْهَٓاۙ اَتٰيهَٓا اَمْرُنَا لَيْلاً اَوْ نَهَاراً فَجَعَلْنَاهَا حَص۪يداً كَاَنْ لَمْ تَغْنَ بِالْاَمْسِۜ كَذٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الْاٰيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ Innama mathalu alhayatiaddunya kama-in anzalnahu mina assama-ifakhtalata bihi nabatu al-ardi mimmaya/kulu annasu wal-anAAamu hattaitha akhathati al-ardu zukhrufaha wazzayyanatwathanna ahluha annahum qadiroonaAAalayha ataha amruna laylan aw naharanfajaAAalnaha haseedan kaan lam taghnabil-amsi kathalika nufassilu al-ayatiliqawmin yatafakkaroon The likeness of the life of this world is but like water We send down from the sky, and the plants of the earth mingle with it, whereof men and cattle eat: when the earth has taken her decoration, and is made fair, and its people think they have power over it, Our command comes by night or by day, and We make it reaped as if it had not flourished the day before — thus do We set out and detail the proofs for people who reflect. _https://quran.so/surah-yunus/verse-24.md_ ### 10. Surah Yunus, Verse 27 - **Form in this verse:** بِمِثْلِهَا — bimith'lihā · "(is) like it" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case وَالَّذ۪ينَ كَسَبُوا السَّيِّـَٔاتِ جَزَٓاءُ سَيِّئَةٍ بِمِثْلِهَاۙ وَتَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌۜ مَا لَهُمْ مِنَ اللّٰهِ مِنْ عَاصِمٍۚ كَاَنَّـمَٓا اُغْشِيَتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ قِطَعاً مِنَ الَّيْلِ مُظْلِماًۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ اَصْحَابُ النَّارِۚ هُمْ ف۪يهَا خَالِدُونَ Wallatheena kasaboo assayyi-atijazao sayyi-atin bimithliha watarhaquhum thillatunma lahum mina Allahi min AAasimin kaannamaoghshiyat wujoohuhum qitaAAan mina allayli muthlimanola-ika as-habu annari humfeeha khalidoon And for those who earn evil deeds is a reward for evil by the like thereof; and disgrace will cover them — they will not have against God any defender — as if their faces were covered with pieces of darkening night. Thus does God present truth and vanity: as for the froth, it departs as dross; and as for what is of benefit to men, it remains in the earth. He calls you, that He will forgive you of your transgressions, and delay you to a stated term.” They said: “You are only mortals like us, who would turn us away from what our fathers served. Surah An-Nahl, Verse 75 - **Form in this verse:** مَثَلًا — mathalan · "the example" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case · indefinite ضَرَبَ اللّٰهُ مَثَلاً عَبْداً مَمْلُوكاً لَا يَقْدِرُ عَلٰى شَيْءٍ وَمَنْ رَزَقْنَاهُ مِنَّا رِزْقاً حَسَناً فَهُوَ يُنْفِقُ مِنْهُ سِراًّ وَجَهْراًۜ هَلْ يَسْتَوُ۫نَۜ اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِۜ بَلْ اَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ Daraba Allahu mathalan AAabdanmamlookan la yaqdiru AAala shay-in waman razaqnahuminna rizqan hasanan fahuwa yunfiqu minhu sirranwajahran hal yastawoona alhamdu lillahi balaktharuhum la yaAAlamoon God strikes a similitude: — a slave owned, not having power over anything, and him whom We provided with goodly provision from Us and he spends thereof secretly and openly. Surah An-Nahl, Verse 76 - **Form in this verse:** مَثَلًۭا — mathalan · "an example" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case · indefinite وَضَرَبَ اللّٰهُ مَثَلاً رَجُلَيْنِ اَحَدُهُمَٓا اَبْكَمُ لَا يَقْدِرُ عَلٰى شَيْءٍ وَهُوَ كَلٌّ عَلٰى مَوْلٰيهُۙ اَيْنَمَا يُوَجِّهْهُ لَا يَأْتِ بِخَيْرٍۜ هَلْ يَسْتَو۪ي هُوَۙ وَمَنْ يَأْمُرُ بِالْعَدْلِۙ وَهُوَ عَلٰى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَق۪يمٍ۟ Wadaraba Allahu mathalanrajulayni ahaduhuma abkamu la yaqdiru AAalashay-in wahuwa kallun AAala mawlahu aynamayuwajjihhu la ya/ti bikhayrin hal yastawee huwa wamanya/muru bilAAadli wahuwa AAala siratinmustaqeem And God strikes a similitude: — two men: one of them dumb, not having power over anything, and a burden on his master: wherever he directs him, he brings no good.
