O you who heed warning: take not those who take your doctrine in mockery and fun among those given the Writ before you and the atheists as allies; and be in prudent fear of God if you be believers.

And the life of this world is only play and diversion; and the abode of the Hereafter is better for those of prudent fear. Will you then not use reason!

وَذَرِ الَّذ۪ينَ اتَّخَذُوا د۪ينَهُمْ لَعِباً وَلَهْواً وَغَرَّتْهُمُ الْحَيٰوةُ الدُّنْيَا وَذَكِّرْ بِه۪ٓ اَنْ تُبْسَلَ نَفْسٌ بِمَا كَسَبَتْۗ لَيْسَ لَهَا مِنْ دُونِ اللّٰهِ وَلِيٌّ وَلَا شَف۪يعٌۚ وَاِنْ تَعْدِلْ كُلَّ عَدْلٍ لَا يُؤْخَذْ مِنْهَاۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ الَّذ۪ينَ اُبْسِلُوا بِمَا كَسَبُواۚ لَهُمْ شَرَابٌ مِنْ حَم۪يمٍ وَعَذَابٌ اَل۪يمٌ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْفُرُونَ۟

Wathari allatheena ittakhathoodeenahum laAAiban walahwan wagharrat-humu alhayatuaddunya wathakkir bihi an tubsala nafsunbima kasabat laysa laha min dooni Allahiwaliyyun wala shafeeAAun wa-in taAAdil kulla AAadlin layu/khath minha ola-ika allatheenaobsiloo bima kasaboo lahum sharabun min hameeminwaAAathabun aleemun bima kanoo yakfuroon

And leave thou those who take their doctrine as play and diversion, and whom the life of this world has deluded; and remind thou with it lest a soul be given up to destruction for what it earned; it has not, besides God, ally or intercessor. And though it offer in compensation every equivalence, it will not be accepted from it: those are they who are given up to destruction for what they earned; they have scalding water and a painful punishment for what they denied.

وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللّٰهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِه۪ٓ اِذْ قَالُوا مَٓا اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى بَشَرٍ مِنْ شَيْءٍۜ قُلْ مَنْ اَنْزَلَ الْكِتَابَ الَّذ۪ي جَٓاءَ بِه۪ مُوسٰى نُوراً وَهُدًى لِلنَّاسِ تَجْعَلُونَهُ قَرَاط۪يسَ تُبْدُونَهَا وَتُخْفُونَ كَث۪يراًۚ وَعُلِّمْتُمْ مَا لَمْ تَعْلَمُٓوا اَنْتُمْ وَلَٓا اٰبَٓاؤُ۬كُمْۜ قُلِ اللّٰهُۙ ثُمَّ ذَرْهُمْ ف۪ي خَوْضِهِمْ يَلْعَبُونَ

Wama qadaroo Allaha haqqaqadrihi ith qaloo ma anzala AllahuAAala basharin min shay-in qul man anzala alkitabaallathee jaa bihi moosa nooran wahudan linnasitajAAaloonahu qarateesa tubdoonaha watukhfoonakatheeran waAAullimtum ma lam taAAlamoo antum wala abaokumquli Allahu thumma tharhum fee khawdihimyalAAaboon

And they measured God not with the measure due Him when they said: “God has not sent down upon a mortal anything.” Say thou: “Who sent down the Writ which Moses brought as a light and guidance for men?” (You make it into parchments which you show; and you conceal much; and you were taught what you knew not, you and your fathers.) Say thou: “God”; then leave thou them playing in their vain discourses.

Allatheena ittakhathoodeenahum lahwan walaAAiban wagharrat-humu alhayatuaddunya falyawma nansahum kamanasoo liqaa yawmihim hatha wama kanoobi-ayatina yajhadoon

“Those who took their doctrine as play and diversion, and whom the life of this world deluded.” — “So this day do We forget them, even as they forgot the meeting of this their day, and as they rejected Our proofs.”

And if thou askest them, they will say: “We were but discoursing vainly and playing.” Say thou: “Was it at God and His proofs and His messenger that you were mocking?”

### 43. Surah Az-Zukhruf, Verse 83

The life of this world is only play and diversion; and if you believe and are in prudent fear, He will give you your rewards, and not ask of you your wealth.

IAAlamoo annama alhayatuaddunya laAAibun walahwun wazeenatun watafakhurunbaynakum watakathurun fee al-amwali wal-awladikamathali ghaythin aAAjaba alkuffara nabatuhuthumma yaheeju fatarahu musfarran thumma yakoonu hutamanwafee al-akhirati AAathabun shadeedun wamaghfiratunmina Allahi waridwanun wama alhayatuaddunya illa mataAAu alghuroor

Know that the life of this world is only play and diversion, and adornment, and mutual boasting among you, and competition for increase in wealth and children. As the likeness of a rain, it impresses the atheists with its growth; then it withers and thou seest it turn yellow; then it becomes debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment, and forgiveness from God, and approval. And the life of this world is only the enjoyment of delusion.

### 70. Surah Al-Ma'arij, Verse 42
