Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 249 - **Form in this verse:** كَثِيرَةًۢ — kathīratan · "large" - **Grammar:** adjective · feminine, singular · accusative case · indefinite فَلَمَّا فَصَلَ طَالُوتُ بِالْجُنُودِۙ قَالَ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ مُبْتَل۪يكُمْ بِنَهَرٍۚ فَمَنْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ فَلَيْسَ مِنّ۪يۚ وَمَنْ لَمْ يَطْعَمْهُ فَاِنَّهُ مِنّ۪ٓي اِلَّا مَنِ اغْتَرَفَ غُرْفَةً بِيَدِه۪ۚ فَشَرِبُوا مِنْهُ اِلَّا قَل۪يلاً مِنْهُمْۜ فَلَمَّا جَاوَزَهُ هُوَ وَالَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا مَعَهُۙ قَالُوا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا الْيَوْمَ بِجَالُوتَ وَجُنُودِه۪ۜ قَالَ الَّذ۪ينَ يَظُنُّونَ اَنَّهُمْ مُلَاقُوا اللّٰهِۙ كَمْ مِنْ فِئَةٍ قَل۪يلَةٍ غَلَبَتْ فِئَةً كَث۪يرَةً بِاِذْنِ اللّٰهِۜ وَاللّٰهُ مَعَ الصَّابِر۪ينَ Falamma fasala talootubiljunoodi qala inna Allaha mubtaleekumbinaharin faman shariba minhu falaysa minnee waman lam yatAAamhufa-innahu minnee illa mani ightarafa ghurfatan biyadihifashariboo minhu illa qaleelan minhum falamma jawazahuhuwa wallatheena amanoo maAAahu qaloola taqata lana alyawma bijalootawajunoodihi qala allatheena yathunnoonaannahum mulaqoo Allahi kam min fi-atin qaleelatinghalabat fi-atan katheeratan bi-ithni Allahi wallahumaAAa assabireen Then when Saul set out with the forces, he said: “God will try you with a river, so whoso drinks thereof is not of me; and whoso tastes it not is of me save he who scoops up a handful with his hand.” But they drank thereof save a few of them. Then when he had crossed it, he and those who heeded warning with him, they said: “We have not power this day against Goliath and his forces.” Said those who knew that they should meet God: “How many a small host has overcome a mighty host by the leave of God! Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 110 - **Form in this verse:** وَأَكْثَرُهُمُ — wa-aktharuhumu · "but most of them" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · nominative case كُنْتُمْ خَيْرَ اُمَّةٍ اُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّٰهِۜ وَلَوْ اٰمَنَ اَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ لَكَانَ خَيْراً لَهُمْۜ مِنْهُمُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَاَكْثَرُهُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ Kuntum khayra ommatin okhrijat linnasita/muroona bilmaAAroofi watanhawna AAani almunkariwatu/minoona billahi walaw amana ahlu alkitabilakana khayran lahum minhumu almu/minoona waaktharuhumualfasiqoon You are the best community brought forth for mankind: you enjoin what is fitting, and you forbid perversity, and you believe in God. And you will hear from those given the Writ before you, and from the idolaters, much hindrance. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 12 - **Form in this verse:** أَكْثَرَ — akthara · "more" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case وَلَكُمْ نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ اَزْوَاجُكُمْ اِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌۚ فَاِنْ كَانَ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌ فَلَكُمُ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْنَ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوص۪ينَ بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۜ وَلَهُنَّ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ اِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌۚ فَاِنْ كَانَ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌ فَلَهُنَّ الثُّمُنُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ تُوصُونَ بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۜ وَاِنْ كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُورَثُ كَلَالَةً اَوِ امْرَاَةٌ وَلَهُٓ اَخٌ اَوْ اُخْتٌ فَلِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا السُّدُسُۚ فَاِنْ كَانُٓوا اَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذٰلِكَ فَهُمْ شُرَكَٓاءُ فِي الثُّلُثِ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصٰى بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۙ غَيْرَ مُضَٓارٍّۚ وَصِيَّةً مِنَ اللّٰهِۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَل۪يمٌ حَل۪يمٌۜ Walakum nisfu ma taraka azwajukumin lam yakun lahunna waladun fa-in kana lahunna waladunfalakumu arrubuAAu mimma tarakna min baAAdi wasiyyatinyooseena biha aw daynin walahunna arrubuAAumimma taraktum in lam yakun lakum waladun fa-in kanalakum waladun falahunna aththumunu mimma taraktummin baAAdi wasiyyatin toosoona biha awdaynin wa-in kana rajulun yoorathu kalalatan awiimraatun walahu akhun aw okhtun falikulli wahidin minhumaassudusu fa-in kanoo akthara min thalikafahum shurakao fee aththuluthi min baAAdi wasiyyatinyoosa biha aw daynin ghayra mudarrin wasiyyatanmina Allahi wallahu AAaleemun haleem And for you is half of what your wives left if they have not a child; but if they have a child, then for you is one-fourth of what they left, after a bequest they have made, or debt. And for them: one-fourth of what you left, if you have not a child; but if you have a child: for them is one-eighth of what you left, after a bequest you have made, or debt. And if a man or a woman be inherited with no immediate heir but has a brother or sister, for each of them is one-sixth; but if they are more than that, then are they partners in one-third, after a bequest he has made, or debt, without harm, as a bequest from God; and God is knowing and clement. _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-12.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 19 - **Form in this verse:** كَثِيرًۭا — kathīran · "much" - **Grammar:** adjective · masculine, singular · accusative case · indefinite يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا لَا يَحِلُّ لَكُمْ اَنْ تَرِثُوا النِّسَٓاءَ كَرْهاًۜ وَلَا تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ لِتَذْهَبُوا بِبَعْضِ مَٓا اٰتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ اِلَّٓا اَنْ يَأْت۪ينَ بِفَاحِشَةٍ مُبَيِّنَةٍۚ وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِۚ فَاِنْ كَرِهْتُمُوهُنَّ فَعَسٰٓى اَنْ تَكْرَهُوا شَيْـٔاً وَيَجْعَلَ اللّٰهُ ف۪يهِ خَيْراً كَث۪يراً Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola yahillu lakum an tarithoo annisaakarhan wala taAAduloohunna litathhaboobibaAAdi ma ataytumoohunna illa anya/teena bifahishatin mubayyinatin waAAashiroohunnabilmaAAroofi fa-in karihtumoohunna faAAasa antakrahoo shay-an wayajAAala Allahu feehi khayran katheera O you who heed warning: it is not lawful for you to inherit from women against their will; and neither constrain them that you might take away part of what you gave them save that they commit manifest sexual immorality. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 94 - **Form in this verse:** كَثِيرَةٌۭ ۚ — kathīratun · "abundant" - **Grammar:** adjective · feminine, singular · nominative case · indefinite يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُٓوا اِذَا ضَرَبْتُمْ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ فَتَبَيَّنُوا وَلَا تَقُولُوا لِمَنْ اَلْقٰٓى اِلَيْكُمُ السَّلَامَ لَسْتَ مُؤْمِناًۚ تَبْتَغُونَ عَرَضَ الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَاۘ فَعِنْدَ اللّٰهِ مَغَانِمُ كَث۪يرَةٌۜ كَذٰلِكَ كُنْتُمْ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَمَنَّ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَتَبَيَّنُواۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَب۪يراً Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooitha darabtum fee sabeeli Allahifatabayyanoo wala taqooloo liman alqa ilaykumu assalamalasta mu/minan tabtaghoona AAarada alhayatiaddunya faAAinda Allahi maghanimukatheeratun kathalika kuntum min qablu famanna AllahuAAalaykum fatabayyanoo inna Allaha kana bimataAAmaloona khabeera O you who heed warning: when you go forth in the cause of God, verify; and say not to one who offers you peace: “Thou art not a believer,” seeking the transitory things of the life of this world; for with God are many spoils. Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 32 - **Form in this verse:** كَثِيرًۭا — kathīran · "many" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case · indefinite مِنْ اَجْلِ ذٰلِكَۚۛ كَتَبْنَا عَلٰى بَن۪ٓي اِسْرَٓائ۪لَ اَنَّهُ مَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْساً بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ اَوْ فَسَادٍ فِي الْاَرْضِ فَكَاَنَّمَا قَتَلَ النَّاسَ جَم۪يـعاًۜ وَمَنْ اَحْيَاهَا فَكَاَنَّمَٓا اَحْيَا النَّاسَ جَم۪يعاًۜ وَلَقَدْ جَٓاءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا بِالْبَيِّنَاتِۘ ثُمَّ اِنَّ كَث۪يراً مِنْهُمْ بَعْدَ ذٰلِكَ فِي الْاَرْضِ لَمُسْرِفُونَ Min ajli thalika katabna AAalabanee isra-eela annahu man qatala nafsan bighayri nafsinaw fasadin fee al-ardi fakaannama qatala annasajameeAAan waman ahyaha fakaannama ahyaannasa jameeAAan walaqad jaat-hum rusulunabilbayyinati thumma inna katheeran minhum baAAda thalikafee al-ardi lamusrifoon For that cause We prescribed for the children of Israel that whoso takes a life other than for a life or corruption in the land, it will be as if he killed mankind altogether; (and whoso gives life, it will be as if he gave life to mankind altogether ­— and Our messengers came to them with clear signs, then many of them after that are committers of excess in the earth — ) _https://quran.so/surah-al-maidah/verse-32.md_ ### 5. Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 49 - **Form in this verse:** كَثِيرًۭا — kathīran · "many" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case · indefinite وَاَنِ احْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ بِمَٓا اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِـعْ اَهْوَٓاءَهُمْ وَاحْذَرْهُمْ اَنْ يَفْتِنُوكَ عَنْ بَعْضِ مَٓا اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ اِلَيْكَۜ فَاِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَاعْلَمْ اَنَّمَا يُر۪يدُ اللّٰهُ اَنْ يُص۪يبَهُمْ بِبَعْضِ ذُنُوبِهِمْۜ وَاِنَّ كَث۪يراً مِنَ النَّاسِ لَفَاسِقُونَ Waani ohkum baynahum bimaanzala Allahu wala tattabiAA ahwaahum wahtharhuman yaftinooka AAan baAAdi ma anzala Allahuilayka fa-in tawallaw faAAlam annama yureedu Allahuan yuseebahum bibaAAdi thunoobihim wa-innakatheeran mina annasi lafasiqoon And judge thou between them by what God has sent down; and follow thou not their vain desires, and beware thou of them lest they seduce thee away from some of what God has sent down to thee. Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 64 - **Form in this verse:** كَثِيرًۭا — kathīran · "many" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case · indefinite وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ يَدُ اللّٰهِ مَغْلُولَةٌۜ غُلَّتْ اَيْد۪يهِمْ وَلُعِنُوا بِمَا قَالُواۢ بَلْ يَدَاهُ مَبْسُوطَتَانِۙ يُنْفِقُ كَيْفَ يَشَٓاءُۜ وَلَيَز۪يدَنَّ كَث۪يراً مِنْهُمْ مَٓا اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ طُغْيَاناً وَكُفْراًۜ وَاَلْقَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ الْعَدَاوَةَ وَالْبَغْضَٓاءَ اِلٰى يَوْمِ الْقِيٰمَةِۜ كُلَّمَٓا اَوْقَدُوا نَاراً لِلْحَرْبِ اَطْفَاَهَا اللّٰهُۙ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِي الْاَرْضِ فَسَاداًۜ وَاللّٰهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُفْسِد۪ينَ Waqalati alyahoodu yadu Allahimaghloolatun ghullat aydeehim waluAAinoo bima qaloobal yadahu mabsootatani yunfiqu kayfa yashaowalayazeedanna katheeran minhum ma onzila ilayka minrabbika tughyanan wakufran waalqaynabaynahumu alAAadawata walbaghdaa ilayawmi alqiyamati kullama awqadoo naran lilharbiatfaaha Allahu wayasAAawna fee al-ardifasadan wallahu la yuhibbualmufsideen And the Rabbinic Jews say: “The hand of God is fettered.” Fettered are their hands! And cursed are they for what they say! Nay, His hands are spread wide; He spends how He wills. And there increases many of them in inordinacy and denial what was sent down to thee from thy Lord. And We have cast among them enmity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection; whenever they lit the fire of war, God extinguished it; and they strive in the land for corruption; and God loves not the workers of corruption. _https://quran.so/surah-al-maidah/verse-64.md_ ### 5. Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 66 - **Form in this verse:** وَكَثِيرٌۭ — wakathīrun · "but many" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · nominative case · indefinite وَلَوْ اَنَّهُمْ اَقَامُوا التَّوْرٰيةَ وَالْاِنْج۪يلَ وَمَٓا اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْهِمْ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ لَاَكَلُوا مِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ وَمِنْ تَحْتِ اَرْجُلِهِمْۜ مِنْهُمْ اُمَّةٌ مُقْتَصِدَةٌۜ وَكَث۪يرٌ مِنْهُمْ سَٓاءَ مَا يَعْمَلُونَ۟ Walaw annahum aqamoo attawratawal-injeela wama onzila ilayhim min rabbihimlaakaloo min fawqihim wamin tahti arjulihim minhum ommatunmuqtasidatun wakatheerun minhum saa mayaAAmaloon And had they upheld the Torah and the Gospel and what was sent down to them from their Lord, they would have eaten from above them and from under their feet. Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 68 - **Form in this verse:** كَثِيرًۭا — kathīran · "many" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case · indefinite قُلْ يَٓا اَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لَسْتُمْ عَلٰى شَيْءٍ حَتّٰى تُق۪يمُوا التَّوْرٰيةَ وَالْاِنْج۪يلَ وَمَٓا اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْكُمْ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْۜ وَلَيَز۪يدَنَّ كَث۪يراً مِنْهُمْ مَٓا اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ طُغْيَاناً وَكُفْراًۚ فَلَا تَأْسَ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِر۪ينَ Qul ya ahla alkitabi lastumAAala shay-in hatta tuqeemoo attawratawal-injeela wama onzila ilaykum min rabbikumwalayazeedanna katheeran minhum ma onzila ilayka minrabbika tughyanan wakufran fala ta/sa AAalaalqawmi alkafireen Say thou: “O doctors of the Law: you have nothing to stand upon until you uphold the Torah and the Gospel and what was sent down to you from your Lord.” And there increases many of them in inordinacy and denial what was sent down to thee from thy Lord; so grieve thou not over the people of the false claimers of guidance. _https://quran.so/surah-al-maidah/verse-68.md_ ### 5. Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 71 - **Form in this verse:** كَثِيرٌۭ — kathīrun · "many" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · nominative case · indefinite وَحَسِبُٓوا اَلَّا تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ فَعَمُوا وَصَمُّوا ثُمَّ تَابَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ عَمُوا وَصَمُّوا كَث۪يرٌ مِنْهُمْۜ وَاللّٰهُ بَص۪يرٌ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ Wahasiboo alla takoonafitnatun faAAamoo wasammoo thumma taba AllahuAAalayhim thumma AAamoo wasammoo katheerun minhum wallahubaseerun bima yaAAmaloon And considered there would be no means of denial, so they became blind and deaf. Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 77 - **Form in this verse:** كَثِيرًۭا — kathīran · "many" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case · indefinite قُلْ يَٓا اَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لَا تَغْلُوا ف۪ي د۪ينِكُمْ غَيْرَ الْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُٓوا اَهْوَٓاءَ قَوْمٍ قَدْ ضَلُّوا مِنْ قَبْلُ وَاَضَلُّوا كَث۪يراً وَضَلُّوا عَنْ سَوَٓاءِ السَّب۪يلِ۟ Qul ya ahla alkitabi lataghloo fee deenikum ghayra alhaqqi wala tattabiAAooahwaa qawmin qad dalloo min qablu waadallookatheeran wadalloo AAan sawa-i assabeel Say thou: “O doctors of the Law: exceed not bounds in your doctrine beyond the truth; and follow not the vain desires of a people who strayed before, and led many astray; and they strayed from the right path.” _https://quran.so/surah-al-maidah/verse-77.md_ ### 5. Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 80 - **Form in this verse:** كَثِيرًۭا — kathīran · "many" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case · indefinite تَرٰى كَث۪يراً مِنْهُمْ يَتَوَلَّوْنَ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُواۜ لَبِئْسَ مَا قَدَّمَتْ لَهُمْ اَنْفُسُهُمْ اَنْ سَخِطَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَفِي الْعَذَابِ هُمْ خَالِدُونَ Tara katheeran minhum yatawallawnaallatheena kafaroo labi/sa ma qaddamat lahumanfusuhum an sakhita Allahu AAalayhim wafee alAAathabihum khalidoon Thou seest many of them taking allies of those who ignore warning; evil is what their souls have sent ahead for them, that God is wroth with them; and in the punishment will they abide eternally. _https://quran.so/surah-al-maidah/verse-80.md_ ### 5. Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 103 - **Form in this verse:** وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ — wa-aktharuhum · "and most of them" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · nominative case مَا جَعَلَ اللّٰهُ مِنْ بَح۪يرَةٍ وَلَا سَٓائِبَةٍ وَلَا وَص۪يلَةٍ وَلَا حَامٍۙ وَلٰكِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ الْكَذِبَۜ وَاَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ Ma jaAAala Allahu min baheeratinwala sa-ibatin wala waseelatin walahamin walakinna allatheena kafarooyaftaroona AAala Allahi alkathibawaaktharuhum la yaAAqiloon God appointed not any baḥīrah or sā’ibah or waṣīlah or ḥām — but those who ignore warning invent lies about God; and most of them do not reason. _https://quran.so/surah-al-maidah/verse-103.md_ ### 6. Surah Al-An'am, Verse 37 - **Form in this verse:** أَكْثَرَهُمْ — aktharahum · "most of them" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case وَقَالُوا لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ اٰيَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّه۪ۜ قُلْ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ قَادِرٌ عَلٰٓى اَنْ يُنَزِّلَ اٰيَةً وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ Waqaloo lawla nuzzila AAalayhiayatun min rabbihi qul inna Allaha qadirunAAala an yunazzila ayatan walakinnaaktharahum la yaAAlamoon And they say: “Oh, that a proof had but been sent down upon him from his Lord!” Say thou: “God is able to send down a proof.” But most of them know not: _https://quran.so/surah-al-anam/verse-37.md_ ### 6. Surah Al-An'am, Verse 91 - **Form in this verse:** كَثِيرًۭا ۖ — kathīran · "much (of it)" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case · indefinite وَمَا قَدَرُوا اللّٰهَ حَقَّ قَدْرِه۪ٓ اِذْ قَالُوا مَٓا اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى بَشَرٍ مِنْ شَيْءٍۜ قُلْ مَنْ اَنْزَلَ الْكِتَابَ الَّذ۪ي جَٓاءَ بِه۪ مُوسٰى نُوراً وَهُدًى لِلنَّاسِ تَجْعَلُونَهُ قَرَاط۪يسَ تُبْدُونَهَا وَتُخْفُونَ كَث۪يراًۚ وَعُلِّمْتُمْ مَا لَمْ تَعْلَمُٓوا اَنْتُمْ وَلَٓا اٰبَٓاؤُ۬كُمْۜ قُلِ اللّٰهُۙ ثُمَّ ذَرْهُمْ ف۪ي خَوْضِهِمْ يَلْعَبُونَ Wama qadaroo Allaha haqqaqadrihi ith qaloo ma anzala AllahuAAala basharin min shay-in qul man anzala alkitabaallathee jaa bihi moosa nooran wahudan linnasitajAAaloonahu qarateesa tubdoonaha watukhfoonakatheeran waAAullimtum ma lam taAAlamoo antum wala abaokumquli Allahu thumma tharhum fee khawdihimyalAAaboon And they measured God not with the measure due Him when they said: “God has not sent down upon a mortal anything.” Say thou: “Who sent down the Writ which Moses brought as a light and guidance for men?” (You make it into parchments which you show; and you conceal much; and you were taught what you knew not, you and your fathers.) Surah Al-An'am, Verse 119 - **Form in this verse:** كَثِيرًۭا — kathīran · "many" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case · indefinite وَمَا لَكُمْ اَلَّا تَأْكُلُوا مِمَّا ذُكِرَ اسْمُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْهِ وَقَدْ فَصَّلَ لَكُمْ مَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ اِلَّا مَا اضْطُرِرْتُمْ اِلَيْهِۜ وَاِنَّ كَث۪يراً لَيُضِلُّونَ بِاَهْوَٓائِهِمْ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍۜ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ اَعْلَمُ بِالْمُعْتَد۪ينَ Wama lakum alla ta/kuloo mimmathukira ismu Allahi AAalayhi waqad fassalalakum ma harrama AAalaykum illa ma idturirtumilayhi wa-inna katheeran layudilloona bi-ahwa-ihimbighayri AAilmin inna rabbaka huwa aAAlamu bilmuAAtadeen And what is with you that you eat not of that over which the name of God has been remembered when He has set out and detailed to you what is forbidden you save that you be compelled thereto? Surah Al-An'am, Verse 128 - **Form in this verse:** ٱسْتَكْثَرْتُم — is'takthartum · "you have (misled) many" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of istif'al · 2nd person, masculine, plural · past tense وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ جَم۪يعاًۚ يَا مَعْشَرَ الْجِنِّ قَدِ اسْتَكْثَرْتُمْ مِنَ الْاِنْسِۚ وَقَالَ اَوْلِيَٓاؤُ۬هُمْ مِنَ الْاِنْسِ رَبَّـنَا اسْتَمْتَعَ بَعْضُنَا بِبَعْضٍ وَبَلَغْنَٓا اَجَلَنَا الَّـذ۪ٓي اَجَّلْتَ لَنَاۜ قَالَ النَّارُ مَثْوٰيكُمْ خَالِد۪ينَ ف۪يهَٓا اِلَّا مَا شَٓاءَ اللّٰهُۜ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ حَك۪يمٌ عَل۪يمٌ Wayawma yahshuruhum jameeAAan yamaAAshara aljinni qadi istakthartum mina al-insi waqalaawliyaohum mina al-insi rabbana istamtaAAa baAAdunabibaAAdin wabalaghna ajalana allatheeajjalta lana qala annaru mathwakumkhalideena feeha illa ma shaaAllahu inna rabbaka hakeemun AAaleem And the day He gathers them all together: “O congregation of domini: you have desired many among the servi.” And their allies among the servi will say: “Our Lord: we benefited one another; but we have reached our term which Thou appointedst for us.” He will say: “The Fire is your dwelling, you abiding eternally therein!” save that God should will; thy Lord is wise and knowing. _https://quran.so/surah-al-anam/verse-128.md_ ### 6. Surah Al-An'am, Verse 137 - **Form in this verse:** لِكَثِيرٍۢ — likathīrin · "to many" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · genitive case · indefinite وَكَذٰلِكَ زَيَّنَ لِكَث۪يرٍ مِنَ الْمُشْرِك۪ينَ قَتْلَ اَوْلَادِهِمْ شُرَكَٓاؤُ۬هُمْ لِيُرْدُوهُمْ وَلِيَلْبِسُوا عَلَيْهِمْ د۪ينَهُمْۜ وَلَوْ شَٓاءَ اللّٰهُ مَا فَعَلُوهُ فَذَرْهُمْ وَمَا يَفْتَرُونَ Wakathalika zayyana likatheerin minaalmushrikeena qatla awladihim shurakaohumliyurdoohum waliyalbisoo AAalayhim deenahum walaw shaa Allahuma faAAaloohu fatharhum wama yaftaroon And thus have their partners made fair to many among the idolaters the killing of their children, to bring them to ruin, and to obfuscate their doctrine for them. Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 179 - **Form in this verse:** كَثِيرًۭا — kathīran · "many" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case · indefinite وَلَقَدْ ذَرَأْنَا لِجَهَنَّمَ كَث۪يراً مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْاِنْسِۘ لَهُمْ قُلُوبٌ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ بِهَاۘ وَلَهُمْ اَعْيُنٌ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ بِهَاۘ وَلَهُمْ اٰذَانٌ لَا يَسْمَعُونَ بِهَاۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ كَالْاَنْعَامِ بَلْ هُمْ اَضَلُّۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الْغَافِلُونَ Walaqad thara/na lijahannamakatheeran mina aljinni wal-insi lahum quloobun layafqahoona biha walahum aAAyunun la yubsiroonabiha walahum athanun la yasmaAAoona bihaola-ika kal-anAAami bal hum adalluola-ika humu alghafiloon And We have created for Gehenna many among the domini and the servi: they have hearts wherewith they understand not; and they have eyes wherewith they see not; and they have ears wherewith they hear not. Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 187 - **Form in this verse:** أَكْثَرَ — akthara · "most" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ اَيَّانَ مُرْسٰيهَاۜ قُلْ اِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِنْدَ رَبّ۪يۚ لَا يُجَلّ۪يهَا لِوَقْتِهَٓا اِلَّا هُوَۜ ثَقُلَتْ فِي السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِۜ لَا تَأْت۪يكُمْ اِلَّا بَغْتَةًۜ يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ كَاَنَّكَ حَفِيٌّ عَنْهَاۜ قُلْ اِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ Yas-aloonaka AAani assaAAatiayyana mursaha qul innama AAilmuhaAAinda rabbee la yujalleeha liwaqtiha illahuwa thaqulat fee assamawati wal-ardila ta/teekum illa baghtatan yas-aloonaka kaannaka hafiyyunAAanha qul innama AAilmuha AAinda Allahiwalakinna akthara annasi layaAAlamoon They ask thee concerning the Hour: “When is its arrival?” Say thou: “Knowledge thereof is but with my Lord; none reveals its time save He. It weighs heavily in the heavens and the earth; it comes not upon you save unexpectedly.” They ask thee as though thou wert privy thereto; say thou: “Knowledge thereof is but with God”; but most men know not. _https://quran.so/surah-al-araf/verse-187.md_ ### 7. Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 188 - **Form in this verse:** لَٱسْتَكْثَرْتُ — la-is'takthartu · "surely I could have multiplied" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of istif'al · 1st person, singular · past tense قُلْ لَٓا اَمْلِكُ لِنَفْس۪ي نَفْعاً وَلَا ضَراًّ اِلَّا مَا شَٓاءَ اللّٰهُۜ وَلَوْ كُنْتُ اَعْلَمُ الْغَيْبَ لَاسْتَكْثَرْتُ مِنَ الْخَيْرِۚ وَمَا مَسَّنِيَ السُّٓوءُ اِنْ اَنَا۬ اِلَّا نَذ۪يرٌ وَبَش۪يرٌ لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ۟ Qul la amliku linafsee nafAAan waladarran illa ma shaa Allahuwalaw kuntu aAAlamu alghayba lastakthartu mina alkhayriwama massaniya assoo-o in ana illanatheerun wabasheerun liqawmin yu/minoon Say thou: “I have no power to do myself benefit or harm save that God should will. And had I knowledge of the Unseen, I would have acquired abundance of wealth, and evil would not have touched me; I am only a warner and bearer of glad tidings to people who believe.” _https://quran.so/surah-al-araf/verse-188.md_ ### 8. Surah Al-Anfal, Verse 19 - **Form in this verse:** كَثُرَتْ — kathurat · "(they are) numerous" - **Grammar:** verb · 3rd person, feminine, singular · past tense اِنْ تَسْتَفْتِحُوا فَقَدْ جَٓاءَكُمُ الْفَتْحُۚ وَاِنْ تَنْتَهُوا فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْۚ وَاِنْ تَعُودُوا نَعُدْۚ وَلَنْ تُغْنِيَ عَنْكُمْ فِئَتُكُمْ شَيْـٔاً وَلَوْ كَـثُرَتْۙ وَاَنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَ الْمُؤْمِن۪ينَ۟ In tastaftihoo faqad jaakumualfathu wa-in tantahoo fahuwa khayrun lakum wa-intaAAoodoo naAAud walan tughniya AAankum fi-atukum shay-an walawkathurat waanna Allaha maAAa almu/mineen (If you seek decision: the decision has come to you; and if you cease, it is better for you. Surah Al-Anfal, Verse 34 - **Form in this verse:** أَكْثَرَهُمْ — aktharahum · "most of them" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case وَمَا لَهُمْ اَلَّا يُعَذِّبَهُمُ اللّٰهُ وَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَمَا كَانُٓوا اَوْلِيَٓاءَهُۜ اِنْ اَوْلِيَٓاؤُ۬هُٓ اِلَّا الْمُتَّقُونَ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ Wama lahum alla yuAAaththibahumuAllahu wahum yasuddoona AAani almasjidi alharamiwama kanoo awliyaahu in awliyaohu illaalmuttaqoona walakinna aktharahum la yaAAlamoon But how can they not be punished by God when they turn away from the inviolable place of worship, and are not its allies? Surah Al-Anfal, Verse 43 - **Form in this verse:** كَثِيرًۭا — kathīran · "(as) many" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case · indefinite اِذْ يُر۪يكَهُمُ اللّٰهُ ف۪ي مَنَامِكَ قَل۪يلاًۜ وَلَوْ اَرٰيكَهُمْ كَث۪يراً لَفَشِلْتُمْ وَلَتَنَازَعْتُمْ فِي الْاَمْرِ وَلٰكِنَّ اللّٰهَ سَلَّمَۜ اِنَّهُ عَل۪يمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ Ith yureekahumu Allahu fee manamikaqaleelan walaw arakahum katheeran lafashiltum walatanazaAAtumfee al-amri walakinna Allaha sallama innahuAAaleemun bithati assudoor When God showed them in thy dream as few; and had He shown them as many you would have lost heart and disputed together over the matter; but God delivered. Surah At-Tawbah, Verse 8 - **Form in this verse:** وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ — wa-aktharuhum · "and most of them" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · nominative case كَيْفَ وَاِنْ يَظْهَرُوا عَلَيْكُمْ لَا يَرْقُبُوا ف۪يكُمْ اِلاًّ وَلَا ذِمَّةًۜ يُرْضُونَكُمْ بِاَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَتَأْبٰى قُلُوبُهُمْۚ وَاَكْثَرُهُمْ فَاسِقُونَۚ Kayfa wa-in yathharoo AAalaykumla yarquboo feekum illan wala thimmatan yurdoonakumbi-afwahihim wata/ba quloobuhum waaktharuhum fasiqoon How, when if they get the better of you, they observe neither pact of kinship nor obligation to protect? Surah At-Tawbah, Verse 25 - **Form in this verse:** كَثِيرَةٍۢ ۙ — kathīratin · "many" - **Grammar:** adjective · feminine, singular · genitive case · indefinite لَقَدْ نَصَرَكُمُ اللّٰهُ ف۪ي مَوَاطِنَ كَث۪يرَةٍۙ وَيَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍۙ اِذْ اَعْجَبَتْكُمْ كَـثْرَتُكُمْ فَلَمْ تُغْنِ عَنْكُمْ شَيْـٔاً وَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الْاَرْضُ بِمَا رَحُبَتْ ثُمَّ وَلَّيْتُمْ مُدْبِر۪ينَۚ Laqad nasarakumu Allahu feemawatina katheeratin wayawma hunaynin ithaAAjabatkum kathratukum falam tughni AAankum shay-an wadaqatAAalaykumu al-ardu bima rahubat thummawallaytum mudbireen God has helped you in many places — and on the day of Ḥunayn when you were impressed at your multitude, but it availed you nothing, and the earth was straitened for you, vast as it was; then you turned and fled. _https://quran.so/surah-at-tawbah/verse-25.md_ ### 9. Surah At-Tawbah, Verse 69 - **Form in this verse:** وَأَكْثَرَ — wa-akthara · "and more abundant" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case كَالَّذ۪ينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ كَانُٓوا اَشَدَّ مِنْكُمْ قُوَّةً وَاَكْثَرَ اَمْوَالاً وَاَوْلَاداًۜ فَاسْتَمْتَعُوا بِخَلَاقِهِمْ فَاسْتَمْتَعْتُمْ بِخَلَاقِكُمْ كَمَا اسْتَمْتَعَ الَّذ۪ينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ بِخَلَاقِهِمْ وَخُضْتُمْ كَالَّذ۪ي خَاضُواۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ حَبِطَتْ اَعْمَالُهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْاٰخِرَةِۚ وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ Kallatheena min qablikum kanooashadda minkum quwwatan waakthara amwalan waawladanfastamtaAAoo bikhalaqihim fastamtaAAtumbikhalaqikum kama istamtaAAa allatheena minqablikum bikhalaqihim wakhudtum kallatheekhadoo ola-ika habitat aAAmaluhumfee addunya wal-akhirati waola-ikahumu alkhasiroon Like those before you, stronger than you in might and greater in wealth and children: they enjoyed their lot. And you have enjoyed your lot as they enjoyed their lot who were before you; and you have discoursed vainly like those discoursed vainly; those: their works are vain in the World and the Hereafter; and it is they who are the losers. _https://quran.so/surah-at-tawbah/verse-69.md_ ### 9. Surah Hud, Verse 17 - **Form in this verse:** أَكْثَرَ — akthara · "most" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case اَفَمَنْ كَانَ عَلٰى بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّه۪ وَيَتْلُوهُ شَاهِدٌ مِنْهُ وَمِنْ قَبْلِه۪ كِتَابُ مُوسٰٓى اِمَاماً وَرَحْمَةًۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِه۪ۜ وَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِه۪ مِنَ الْاَحْزَابِ فَالنَّارُ مَوْعِدُهُۚ فَلَا تَكُ ف۪ي مِرْيَةٍ مِنْهُ اِنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَبِّكَ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ Afaman kana AAala bayyinatinmin rabbihi wayatloohu shahidun minhu wamin qablihi kitabumoosa imaman warahmatan ola-ikayu/minoona bihi waman yakfur bihi mina al-ahzabi fannarumawAAiduhu fala taku fee miryatin minhu innahu alhaqqumin rabbika walakinna akthara annasi layu/minoon Is then he who is upon clear evidence from his Lord[...]? And a witness from Him recites it; and before it was the Writ of Moses as an example and a mercy; those believe in it. But whoso denies it among the parties, then the Fire is his appointed place. Surah Yusuf, Verse 21 - **Form in this verse:** أَكْثَرَ — akthara · "most" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case وَقَالَ الَّذِي اشْتَرٰيهُ مِنْ مِصْرَ لِامْرَاَتِه۪ٓ اَكْرِم۪ي مَثْوٰيهُ عَسٰٓى اَنْ يَنْفَعَنَٓا اَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُ وَلَداًۜ وَكَذٰلِكَ مَكَّنَّا لِيُوسُفَ فِي الْاَرْضِۘ وَلِنُعَلِّمَهُ مِنْ تَأْو۪يلِ الْاَحَاد۪يثِۜ وَاللّٰهُ غَالِبٌ عَلٰٓى اَمْرِه۪ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ Waqala allathee ishtarahumin misra limraatihi akrimee mathwahu AAasaan yanfaAAana aw nattakhithahu waladan wakathalikamakkanna liyoosufa fee al-ardi walinuAAallimahu minta/weeli al-ahadeethi wallahu ghalibunAAala amrihi walakinna akthara annasila yaAAlamoon And said he who bought him from Egypt, to his wife: “Be thou honourable in his dwelling; it may be that he will benefit us, or we will take him as a son.” And thus did We establish Joseph in the land, and that We might teach him the interpretation of narratives; and God prevails over His affair, but most men understand not. _https://quran.so/surah-yusuf/verse-21.md_ ### 12. Surah Yusuf, Verse 40 - **Form in this verse:** أَكْثَرَ — akthara · "most" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case مَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِه۪ٓ اِلَّٓا اَسْمَٓاءً سَمَّيْتُمُوهَٓا اَنْتُمْ وَاٰبَٓاؤُ۬كُمْ مَٓا اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ بِهَا مِنْ سُلْطَانٍۜ اِنِ الْحُكْمُ اِلَّا لِلّٰهِۜ اَمَرَ اَلَّا تَعْبُدُٓوا اِلَّٓا اِيَّاهُۜ ذٰلِكَ الدّ۪ينُ الْقَيِّمُ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ Ma taAAbudoona min doonihi illaasmaan sammaytumooha antum waabaokumma anzala Allahu biha min sultaninini alhukmu illa lillahi amara allataAAbudoo illa iyyahu thalika addeenualqayyimu walakinna akthara annasi layaAAlamoon “You serve, besides Him, only names which you have named, you and your fathers; God sent not down for them any authority. Surah Yusuf, Verse 68 - **Form in this verse:** أَكْثَرَ — akthara · "most" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case وَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا مِنْ حَيْثُ اَمَرَهُمْ اَبُوهُمْۜ مَا كَانَ يُغْن۪ي عَنْهُمْ مِنَ اللّٰهِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ اِلَّا حَاجَةً ف۪ي نَفْسِ يَعْقُوبَ قَضٰيهَاۜ وَاِنَّهُ لَذُو عِلْمٍ لِمَا عَلَّمْنَاهُ وَلٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ۟ Walamma dakhaloo min haythuamarahum aboohum ma kana yughnee AAanhum mina Allahimin shay-in illa hajatan fee nafsi yaAAqooba qadahawa-innahu lathoo AAilmin lima AAallamnahuwalakinna akthara annasi layaAAlamoon And when they entered in what manner their father had commanded them, it availed them nothing against God; it was but a need in the soul of Jacob which he satisfied. Surah An-Nahl, Verse 75 - **Form in this verse:** أَكْثَرُهُمْ — aktharuhum · "but most of them" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · nominative case ضَرَبَ اللّٰهُ مَثَلاً عَبْداً مَمْلُوكاً لَا يَقْدِرُ عَلٰى شَيْءٍ وَمَنْ رَزَقْنَاهُ مِنَّا رِزْقاً حَسَناً فَهُوَ يُنْفِقُ مِنْهُ سِراًّ وَجَهْراًۜ هَلْ يَسْتَوُ۫نَۜ اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِۜ بَلْ اَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ Daraba Allahu mathalan AAabdanmamlookan la yaqdiru AAala shay-in waman razaqnahuminna rizqan hasanan fahuwa yunfiqu minhu sirranwajahran hal yastawoona alhamdu lillahi balaktharuhum la yaAAlamoon God strikes a similitude: — a slave owned, not having power over anything, and him whom We provided with goodly provision from Us and he spends thereof secretly and openly.
