Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 85 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ — l-kitābi · "the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case ثُمَّ اَنْتُمْ هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ تَقْتُلُونَ اَنْفُسَكُمْ وَتُخْرِجُونَ فَر۪يقاً مِنْكُمْ مِنْ دِيَارِهِمْۘ تَظَاهَرُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِالْاِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِۜ وَاِنْ يَأْتُوكُمْ اُسَارٰى تُفَادُوهُمْ وَهُوَ مُحَرَّمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ اِخْرَاجُهُمْۜ اَفَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِبَعْضِ الْكِتَابِ وَتَكْفُرُونَ بِبَعْضٍۚ فَمَا جَزَٓاءُ مَنْ يَفْعَلُ ذٰلِكَ مِنْكُمْ اِلَّا خِزْيٌ فِي الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَاۚ وَيَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ يُرَدُّونَ اِلٰٓى اَشَدِّ الْعَذَابِۜ وَمَا اللّٰهُ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ Thumma antum haola-itaqtuloona anfusakum watukhrijoona fareeqan minkum min diyarihimtathaharoona AAalayhim bil-ithmi walAAudwaniwa-in ya/tookum osara tufadoohum wahuwa muharramunAAalaykum ikhrajuhum afatu/minoona bibaAAdi alkitabiwatakfuroona bibaAAdin fama jazao manyafAAalu thalika minkum illa khizyun fee alhayatiaddunya wayawma alqiyamati yuraddoona ilaashaddi alAAathabi wama Allahu bighafilinAAamma taAAmaloon Then are you those who kill your own, and turn a faction among you out of their homes, assisting one another against them in sin and enmity; and if they come to you as captives, you ransom them, but unlawful for you was their expulsion. Do you believe in part of the Writ and deny part? Then what is the reward of him among you who does that save disgrace in the life of this world? And on the Day of Resurrection they are sent back to the harshest punishment; and God is not unmindful of what you do. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-85.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 87 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ — l-kitāba · "the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case وَلَقَدْ اٰتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ وَقَفَّيْنَا مِنْ بَعْدِه۪ بِالرُّسُلِ وَاٰتَيْنَا ع۪يسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ الْبَيِّنَاتِ وَاَيَّدْنَاهُ بِرُوحِ الْقُدُسِۜ اَفَكُلَّمَا جَٓاءَكُمْ رَسُولٌ بِمَا لَا تَهْوٰٓى اَنْفُسُكُمُ اسْتَكْبَرْتُمْۚ فَفَر۪يقاً كَذَّبْتُمْۘ وَفَر۪يقاً تَقْتُلُونَ Walaqad atayna moosaalkitaba waqaffayna min baAAdihi birrusuliwaatayna AAeesa ibna maryama albayyinatiwaayyadnahu biroohi alqudusi afakullama jaakumrasoolun bima la tahwa anfusukumuistakbartum fafareeqan kaththabtum wafareeqan taqtuloon And We gave Moses the Writ, and sent the messengers after him. And We gave Jesus, son of Mary the clear signs, and strengthened him with the Spirit of Holiness. Is it not that whenever there came to you a messenger with what your souls desired not you waxed proud, and a faction you denied and a faction you killed? _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-87.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 89 - **Form in this verse:** كِتَـٰبٌۭ — kitābun · "a Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case · indefinite وَلَمَّا جَٓاءَهُمْ كِتَابٌ مِنْ عِنْدِ اللّٰهِ مُصَدِّقٌ لِمَا مَعَهُمْۙ وَكَانُوا مِنْ قَبْلُ يَسْتَفْتِحُونَ عَلَى الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُواۚ فَلَمَّا جَٓاءَهُمْ مَا عَرَفُوا كَفَرُوا بِه۪ۘ فَلَعْنَةُ اللّٰهِ عَلَى الْكَافِر۪ينَ Walamma jaahum kitabunmin AAindi Allahi musaddiqun lima maAAahumwakanoo min qablu yastaftihoona AAala allatheenakafaroo falamma jaahum ma AAarafoo kafaroobihi falaAAnatu Allahi AAala alkafireen And when there came to them a Writ from God, confirming what was with them — and they before sought victory over those who ignore warning — then when there came to them what they recognised, they denied it; but the curse of God is upon the false claimers of guidance. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-89.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 105 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ — l-kitābi · "(of) the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case مَا يَوَدُّ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ اَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ وَلَا الْمُشْرِك۪ينَ اَنْ يُنَزَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ خَيْرٍ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْۜ وَاللّٰهُ يَخْتَصُّ بِرَحْمَتِه۪ مَنْ يَشَٓاءُۜ وَاللّٰهُ ذُوالْفَضْلِ الْعَظ۪يمِ Ma yawaddu allatheena kafaroomin ahli alkitabi wala almushrikeena an yunazzalaAAalaykum min khayrin min rabbikum wallahu yakhtassubirahmatihi man yashao wallahu thooalfadli alAAatheem Neither those who ignore warning among the doctors of the Law nor the idolaters wish that there be sent down upon you any good from your Lord, but God chooses for His mercy whom He wills; and God is possessor of tremendous bounty. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-105.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 109 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ — l-kitābi · "(of) the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case وَدَّ كَث۪يرٌ مِنْ اَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ لَوْ يَرُدُّونَكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ ا۪يمَانِكُمْ كُفَّاراًۚ حَسَداً مِنْ عِنْدِ اَنْفُسِهِمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الْحَقُّۚ فَاعْفُوا وَاصْفَحُوا حَتّٰى يَأْتِيَ اللّٰهُ بِاَمْرِه۪ۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَد۪يرٌ Wadda katheerun min ahli alkitabilaw yaruddoonakum min baAAdi eemanikum kuffaran hasadanmin AAindi anfusihim min baAAdi ma tabayyana lahumu alhaqqufaAAfoo wasfahoo hattaya/tiya Allahu bi-amrihi inna Allaha AAalakulli shay-in qadeer Many among the doctors of the Law wish to turn you back as atheists after your faith out of envy from their souls after the truth has become clear to them. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 113 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ ۗ — l-kitāba · "the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ لَيْسَتِ النَّصَارٰى عَلٰى شَيْءٍۖ وَقَالَتِ النَّصَارٰى لَيْسَتِ الْيَهُودُ عَلٰى شَيْءٍۙ وَهُمْ يَتْلُونَ الْكِتَابَۜ كَذٰلِكَ قَالَ الَّذ۪ينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ مِثْلَ قَوْلِهِمْۚ فَاللّٰهُ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ ف۪يمَا كَانُوا ف۪يهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ Waqalati alyahoodu laysati annasaraAAala shay-in waqalati annasaralaysati alyahoodu AAala shay-in wahum yatloona alkitabakathalika qala allatheena layaAAlamoona mithla qawlihim fallahu yahkumubaynahum yawma alqiyamati feema kanoo feehiyakhtalifoon And the Rabbinic Jews say: “The Christians have nothing to stand upon,” and the Christians say: “The Rabbinic Jews have nothing to stand upon,” when they read the Writ; thus say those who know not likewise. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 121 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ — l-kitāba · "the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case اَلَّذ۪ينَ اٰتَيْنَاهُمُ الْكِتَابَ يَتْلُونَهُ حَقَّ تِلَاوَتِه۪ۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِه۪ۜ وَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِه۪ فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ۟ Allatheena ataynahumualkitaba yatloonahu haqqa tilawatihi ola-ikayu/minoona bihi waman yakfur bihi faola-ika humu alkhasiroon Those to whom We gave the Writ recite it with the recital due it; they believe in it. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 144 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ — l-kitāba · "the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case قَدْ نَرٰى تَقَلُّبَ وَجْهِكَ فِي السَّمَٓاءِۚ فَلَنُوَلِّيَنَّكَ قِبْلَةً تَرْضٰيهَاۖ فَوَلِّ وَجْهَكَ شَطْرَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِۜ وَحَيْثُ مَا كُنْتُمْ فَوَلُّوا وُجُوهَكُمْ شَطْرَهُۜ وَاِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ اُو۫تُوا الْكِتَابَ لَيَعْلَمُونَ اَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْۜ وَمَا اللّٰهُ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ Qad nara taqalluba wajhika fee assama-ifalanuwalliyannaka qiblatan tardaha fawalli wajhakashatra almasjidi alharami wahaythu makuntum fawalloo wujoohakum shatrahu wa-inna allatheenaootoo alkitaba layaAAlamoona annahu alhaqqu minrabbihim wama Allahu bighafilin AAammayaAAmaloon We have seen the turning of thy face towards the sky, and We will turn thee towards a course that will satisfy thee. So direct thou thy face towards the inviolable place of worship. And wheresoever you be, direct your faces towards it; and those given the Writ know that it is the truth from their Lord, and God is not unmindful of what they do. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-144.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 145 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ — l-kitāba · "the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case وَلَئِنْ اَتَيْتَ الَّذ۪ينَ اُو۫تُوا الْكِتَابَ بِكُلِّ اٰيَةٍ مَا تَبِعُوا قِبْلَتَكَۚ وَمَٓا اَنْتَ بِتَابِـعٍ قِبْلَتَهُمْۚ وَمَا بَعْضُهُمْ بِتَابِـعٍ قِبْلَةَ بَعْضٍۜ وَلَئِنِ اتَّبَعْتَ اَهْوَٓاءَهُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَٓاءَكَ مِنَ الْعِلْمِۙ اِنَّكَ اِذاً لَمِنَ الظَّالِم۪ينَۢ Wala-in atayta allatheena ootooalkitaba bikulli ayatin ma tabiAAooqiblataka wama anta bitabiAAin qiblatahum wamabaAAduhum bitabiAAin qiblata baAAdinwala-ini ittabaAAta ahwaahum min baAAdi ma jaakamina alAAilmi innaka ithan lamina aththalimeen And if thou bring those given the Writ every proof they will not follow thy course; neither wilt thou follow their course; nor will they follow each other’s course. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 174 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ — l-kitābi · "the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case اِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ يَكْتُمُونَ مَٓا اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَيَشْتَرُونَ بِه۪ ثَمَناً قَل۪يلاًۙ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ مَا يَأْكُلُونَ ف۪ي بُطُونِهِمْ اِلَّا النَّارَ وَلَا يُكَلِّمُهُمُ اللّٰهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ وَلَا يُزَكّ۪يهِمْۚ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ اَل۪يمٌ Inna allatheena yaktumoona maanzala Allahu mina alkitabi wayashtaroona bihithamanan qaleelan ola-ika ma ya/kuloona fee butoonihimilla annara wala yukallimuhumu Allahuyawma alqiyamati wala yuzakkeehim walahum AAathabunaleem Those who conceal what God has sent down of the Writ and sell it at a cheap price, those eat into their bellies only fire. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 177 - **Form in this verse:** وَٱلْكِتَـٰبِ — wal-kitābi · "and the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case لَيْسَ الْبِرَّ اَنْ تُوَلُّوا وُجُوهَكُمْ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَلٰكِنَّ الْبِرَّ مَنْ اٰمَنَ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِ وَالْمَلٰٓئِكَةِ وَالْكِتَابِ وَالنَّبِيّ۪نَۚ وَاٰتَى الْمَالَ عَلٰى حُبِّه۪ ذَوِي الْقُرْبٰى وَالْيَتَامٰى وَالْمَسَاك۪ينَ وَابْنَ السَّب۪يلِ وَالسَّٓائِل۪ينَ وَفِي الرِّقَابِۚ وَاَقَامَ الصَّلٰوةَ وَاٰتَى الزَّكٰوةَۚ وَالْمُوفُونَ بِعَهْدِهِمْ اِذَا عَاهَدُواۚ وَالصَّابِر۪ينَ فِي الْبَأْسَٓاءِ وَالضَّرَّٓاءِ وَح۪ينَ الْبَأْسِۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ الَّذ۪ينَ صَدَقُواۜ وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الْمُتَّقُونَ Laysa albirra an tuwalloo wujoohakum qibalaalmashriqi walmaghribi walakinna albirra man amanabillahi walyawmi al-akhiri walmala-ikatiwalkitabi wannabiyyeena waataalmala AAala hubbihi thawee alqurbawalyatama walmasakeena wabnaalssabeeli wassa-ileena wafee arriqabiwaaqama assalata waataazzakata walmoofoona biAAahdihim ithaAAahadoo wassabireena fee alba/sa-iwaddarra-i waheena alba/si ola-ikaallatheena sadaqoo waola-ika humualmuttaqoon It is not virtue that you turn your faces towards the East and the West. But virtue is: one who believes in God, and the Last Day, and the angels, and the Writ, and the prophets, and gives wealth in spite of love of it to relatives, and the fatherless, and the needy, and the wayfarer, and those who ask, and to manumit slaves; and who upholds the duty, and renders the purity; and those who keep their covenant when they make a covenant; and the patient in affliction and adversity, and during conflict: those are they who are sincere; and it is they who are those of prudent fear. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-177.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 178 - **Form in this verse:** كُتِبَ — kutiba · "Prescribed" - **Grammar:** verb · passive · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْقِصَاصُ فِي الْقَتْلٰىۜ اَلْحُرُّ بِالْحُرِّ وَالْعَبْدُ بِالْعَبْدِ وَالْاُنْثٰى بِالْاُنْثٰىۜ فَمَنْ عُفِيَ لَهُ مِنْ اَخ۪يهِ شَيْءٌ فَاتِّبَاعٌ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَاَدَٓاءٌ اِلَيْهِ بِاِحْسَانٍۜ ذٰلِكَ تَخْف۪يفٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَرَحْمَةٌۜ فَمَنِ اعْتَدٰى بَعْدَ ذٰلِكَ فَلَهُ عَذَابٌ اَل۪يمٌ Ya ayyuha allatheena amanookutiba AAalaykumu alqisasu fee alqatla alhurrubilhurri walAAabdu bilAAabdi walonthabilontha faman AAufiya lahu min akheehi shay-on fattibaAAunbilmaAAroofi waadaon ilayhi bi-ihsaninthalika takhfeefun min rabbikum warahmatun famaniiAAtada baAAda thalika falahu AAathabunaleem O you who heed warning: just requital is ordained for you concerning those killed: the freeman for the freeman, and the slave for the slave, and the female for the female. But whoso is pardoned anything by his brother, let the pursuance be according to what is fitting and the payment to him with good conduct; that is an alleviation and mercy from your Lord. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 187 - **Form in this verse:** كَتَبَ — kataba · "has ordained" - **Grammar:** verb · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense اُحِلَّ لَكُمْ لَيْلَةَ الصِّيَامِ الرَّفَثُ اِلٰى نِسَٓائِكُمْۜ هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ لَكُمْ وَاَنْتُمْ لِبَاسٌ لَهُنَّۜ عَلِمَ اللّٰهُ اَنَّكُمْ كُنْتُمْ تَخْتَانُونَ اَنْفُسَكُمْ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَعَفَا عَنْكُمْۚ فَالْـٰٔنَ بَاشِرُوهُنَّ وَابْتَغُوا مَا كَتَبَ اللّٰهُ لَكُمْۖ وَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتّٰى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمُ الْخَيْطُ الْاَبْيَضُ مِنَ الْخَيْطِ الْاَسْوَدِ مِنَ الْفَجْرِۖ ثُمَّ اَتِمُّوا الصِّيَامَ اِلَى الَّيْلِۚ وَلَا تُبَاشِرُوهُنَّ وَاَنْتُمْ عَاكِفُونَۙ فِي الْمَسَاجِدِۜ تِلْكَ حُدُودُ اللّٰهِ فَلَا تَقْرَبُوهَاۜ كَذٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللّٰهُ اٰيَاتِه۪ لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ Ohilla lakum laylata assiyamiarrafathu ila nisa-ikum hunna libasunlakum waantum libasun lahunna AAalima Allahuannakum kuntum takhtanoona anfusakum fatabaAAalaykum waAAafa AAankum fal-ana bashiroohunnawabtaghoo ma kataba Allahu lakum wakuloo washraboohatta yatabayyana lakumu alkhaytu al-abyadumina alkhayti al-aswadi mina alfajri thumma atimmoo assiyamaila allayli wala tubashiroohunna waantum AAakifoonafee almasajidi tilka hudoodu Allahi falataqrabooha kathalika yubayyinu Allahu ayatihilinnasi laAAallahum yattaqoon It is made lawful for you on the night of the fast to go in unto your women. They are a covering for you, and you are a covering for them. God knows that you deceived yourselves, so He turned towards you and pardoned you; so now lie with them and seek what God has prescribed for you. And eat and drink until clear to you be the white thread from the black thread of the dawn. Then complete the fast until night. And lie with them not when you remain in the places of worship. Those are the limits of God, so approach them not. Thus does God make plain His proofs to men, that they might be in prudent fear. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-187.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 213 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ — l-kitāba · "the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case كَانَ النَّاسُ اُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً فَبَعَثَ اللّٰهُ النَّبِيّ۪نَ مُبَشِّر۪ينَ وَمُنْذِر۪ينَۖ وَاَنْزَلَ مَعَهُمُ الْكِتَابَ بِالْحَقِّ لِيَحْكُمَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ ف۪يمَا اخْتَلَفُوا ف۪يهِۜ وَمَا اخْتَلَفَ ف۪يهِ اِلَّا الَّذ۪ينَ اُو۫تُوهُ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَٓاءَتْهُمُ الْبَيِّنَاتُ بَغْياً بَيْنَهُمْۚ فَهَدَى اللّٰهُ الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا لِمَا اخْتَلَفُوا ف۪يهِ مِنَ الْحَقِّ بِاِذْنِه۪ۜ وَاللّٰهُ يَهْد۪ي مَنْ يَشَٓاءُ اِلٰى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَق۪يمٍ Kana annasu ommatan wahidatanfabaAAatha Allahu annabiyyeena mubashshireenawamunthireena waanzala maAAahumu alkitaba bilhaqqiliyahkuma bayna annasi feemaikhtalafoo feehi wama ikhtalafa feehi illa allatheenaootoohu min baAAdi ma jaat-humu albayyinatubaghyan baynahum fahada Allahu allatheena amanoolima ikhtalafoo feehi mina alhaqqi bi-ithnihiwallahu yahdee man yashao ila siratinmustaqeem Mankind was one community; then God raised up prophets as bearers of glad tidings and warners, and sent down with them the Writ with the truth, that He might judge between men concerning that wherein they differed. And there differed therein only those who were given it, after clear signs had come to them, through sectarian zealotry between them. But God guided those who heeded warning to that of the truth concerning which they differed, by His leave; and God guides whom He wills to a straight path. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-213.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 216 - **Form in this verse:** كُتِبَ — kutiba · "Is prescribed" - **Grammar:** verb · passive · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْقِتَالُ وَهُوَ كُرْهٌ لَكُمْۚ وَعَسٰٓى اَنْ تَكْرَهُوا شَيْـٔاً وَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْۚ وَعَسٰٓى اَنْ تُحِبُّوا شَيْـٔاً وَهُوَ شَرٌّ لَكُمْۜ وَاللّٰهُ يَعْلَمُ وَاَنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ۟ Kutiba AAalaykumu alqitalu wahuwakurhun lakum waAAasa an takrahoo shay-an wahuwa khayrunlakum waAAasa an tuhibboo shay-an wahuwa sharrunlakum wallahu yaAAlamu waantum lataAAlamoon Fighting is prescribed for you, though it be hateful to you. And it may be that you hate a thing and it is good for you; and it may be that you love a thing and it is bad for you. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 231 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ — l-kitābi · "the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case وَاِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ النِّسَٓاءَ فَبَلَغْنَ اَجَلَهُنَّ فَاَمْسِكُوهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوفٍ اَوْ سَرِّحُوهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوفٍۖ وَلَا تُمْسِكُوهُنَّ ضِرَاراً لِتَعْتَدُواۚ وَمَنْ يَفْعَلْ ذٰلِكَ فَقَدْ ظَلَمَ نَفْسَهُۜ وَلَا تَتَّخِذُٓوا اٰيَاتِ اللّٰهِ هُزُواًۘ وَاذْكُرُوا نِعْمَتَ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَمَٓا اَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَالْحِكْمَةِ يَعِظُـكُمْ بِه۪ۜ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَل۪يمٌ۟ Wa-itha tallaqtumu annisaafabalaghna ajalahunna faamsikoohunna bimaAAroofin aw sarrihoohunnabimaAAroofin wala tumsikoohunna diraranlitaAAtadoo waman yafAAal thalika faqad thalamanafsahu wala tattakhithoo ayati Allahihuzuwan wathkuroo niAAmata Allahi AAalaykumwama anzala AAalaykum mina alkitabi walhikmatiyaAAithukum bihi wattaqoo Allaha waAAlamooanna Allaha bikulli shay-in AAaleem And when you divorce women, and they have reached their term, then retain them according to what is fitting or release them according to what is fitting. And retain them not through harm, to transgress; and whoso does that has wronged himself. And take not the proofs of God in mockery; and remember the favour of God upon you, and what He has sent down to you of the Writ and wisdom whereby He admonishes you. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 235 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ — l-kitābu · "the prescribed term" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · nominative case وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ ف۪يمَا عَرَّضْتُمْ بِه۪ مِنْ خِطْبَةِ النِّسَٓاءِ اَوْ اَكْنَنْتُمْ ف۪ٓي اَنْفُسِكُمْۜ عَلِمَ اللّٰهُ اَنَّكُمْ سَتَذْكُرُونَهُنَّ وَلٰكِنْ لَا تُوَاعِدُوهُنَّ سِراًّ اِلَّٓا اَنْ تَقُولُوا قَوْلاً مَعْرُوفاًۜ وَلَا تَعْزِمُوا عُقْدَةَ النِّكَاحِ حَتّٰى يَبْلُغَ الْكِتَابُ اَجَلَهُۜ وَاعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا ف۪ٓي اَنْفُسِكُمْ فَاحْذَرُوهُۚ وَاعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ غَفُورٌ حَل۪يمٌ۟ Wala junaha AAalaykum feemaAAarradtum bihi min khitbati annisa-iaw aknantum fee anfusikum AAalima Allahu annakum satathkuroonahunnawalakin la tuwaAAidoohunna sirran illaan taqooloo qawlan maAAroofan wala taAAzimoo AAuqdata annikahihatta yablugha alkitabu ajalahu waAAlamooanna Allaha yaAAlamu ma fee anfusikum fahtharoohuwaAAlamoo anna Allaha ghafoorun haleem And you do no wrong in what you intimate to women of proposal, or hide within yourselves; God knows that you will remember them. But make not nor take an oath with them secretly save that you speak a fitting word. And do not decide upon the knot of marriage until the writ reaches its term. And know that God knows what is within your souls, so fear Him. And know that God is forgiving and clement. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-235.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 246 - **Form in this verse:** كُتِبَ — kutiba · "prescribed" - **Grammar:** verb · passive · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَى الْمَلَأِ مِنْ بَن۪ٓي اِسْرَٓائ۪لَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مُوسٰىۢ اِذْ قَالُوا لِنَبِيٍّ لَهُمُ ابْعَثْ لَنَا مَلِكاً نُقَاتِلْ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِۜ قَالَ هَلْ عَسَيْتُمْ اِنْ كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْقِتَالُ اَلَّا تُقَاتِلُواۜ قَالُوا وَمَا لَـنَٓا اَلَّا نُقَاتِلَ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ وَقَدْ اُخْرِجْنَا مِنْ دِيَارِنَا وَاَبْنَٓائِنَاۜ فَلَمَّا كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقِتَالُ تَوَلَّوْا اِلَّا قَل۪يلاً مِنْهُمْۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَل۪يمٌ بِالظَّالِم۪ينَ Alam tara ila almala-i min banee isra-eelamin baAAdi moosa ith qaloo linabiyyin lahumuibAAath lana malikan nuqatil fee sabeeli Allahiqala hal AAasaytum in kutiba AAalaykumu alqitalualla tuqatiloo qaloo wama lanaalla nuqatila fee sabeeli Allahi waqadokhrijna min diyarina waabna-inafalamma kutiba AAalayhimu alqitalu tawallaw illaqaleelan minhum wallahu AAaleemun biththalimeen Hast thou not considered the eminent ones of the children of Israel after Moses? When they said to a prophet of theirs: “Raise thou up for us a king; we will fight in the cause of God,” he said: “Would you, if fighting be prescribed for you, not fight?” They said: “And why should we not fight in the cause of God when we have been turned out of our homes, and our children?” But when fighting was prescribed for them, they turned away save a few of them. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 246 - **Form in this verse:** كُتِبَ — kutiba · "was prescribed" - **Grammar:** verb · passive · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَى الْمَلَأِ مِنْ بَن۪ٓي اِسْرَٓائ۪لَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مُوسٰىۢ اِذْ قَالُوا لِنَبِيٍّ لَهُمُ ابْعَثْ لَنَا مَلِكاً نُقَاتِلْ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِۜ قَالَ هَلْ عَسَيْتُمْ اِنْ كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْقِتَالُ اَلَّا تُقَاتِلُواۜ قَالُوا وَمَا لَـنَٓا اَلَّا نُقَاتِلَ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ وَقَدْ اُخْرِجْنَا مِنْ دِيَارِنَا وَاَبْنَٓائِنَاۜ فَلَمَّا كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقِتَالُ تَوَلَّوْا اِلَّا قَل۪يلاً مِنْهُمْۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَل۪يمٌ بِالظَّالِم۪ينَ Alam tara ila almala-i min banee isra-eelamin baAAdi moosa ith qaloo linabiyyin lahumuibAAath lana malikan nuqatil fee sabeeli Allahiqala hal AAasaytum in kutiba AAalaykumu alqitalualla tuqatiloo qaloo wama lanaalla nuqatila fee sabeeli Allahi waqadokhrijna min diyarina waabna-inafalamma kutiba AAalayhimu alqitalu tawallaw illaqaleelan minhum wallahu AAaleemun biththalimeen Hast thou not considered the eminent ones of the children of Israel after Moses? When they said to a prophet of theirs: “Raise thou up for us a king; we will fight in the cause of God,” he said: “Would you, if fighting be prescribed for you, not fight?” They said: “And why should we not fight in the cause of God when we have been turned out of our homes, and our children?” But when fighting was prescribed for them, they turned away save a few of them. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 282 - **Form in this verse:** فَٱكْتُبُوهُ ۚ — fa-uk'tubūhu · "then write it" - **Grammar:** verb · 2nd person, masculine, plural · imperative mood يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُٓوا اِذَا تَدَايَنْتُمْ بِدَيْنٍ اِلٰٓى اَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى فَاكْتُبُوهُۜ وَلْيَكْتُبْ بَيْنَكُمْ كَاتِبٌ بِالْعَدْلِۖ وَلَا يَأْبَ كَاتِبٌ اَنْ يَكْتُبَ كَمَا عَلَّمَهُ اللّٰهُ فَلْيَكْتُبْۚ وَلْيُمْلِلِ الَّذ۪ي عَلَيْهِ الْحَقُّ وَلْيَتَّقِ اللّٰهَ رَبَّهُ وَلَا يَبْخَسْ مِنْهُ شَيْـٔاًۜ فَاِنْ كَانَ الَّذ۪ي عَلَيْهِ الْحَقُّ سَف۪يهاً اَوْ ضَع۪يفاً اَوْ لَا يَسْتَط۪يعُ اَنْ يُمِلَّ هُوَ فَلْيُمْلِلْ وَلِيُّهُ بِالْعَدْلِۜ وَاسْتَشْهِدُوا شَه۪يدَيْنِ مِنْ رِجَالِكُمْۚ فَاِنْ لَمْ يَكُونَا رَجُلَيْنِ فَرَجُلٌ وَامْرَاَتَانِ مِمَّنْ تَرْضَوْنَ مِنَ الشُّهَدَٓاءِ اَنْ تَضِلَّ اِحْدٰيهُمَا فَتُذَكِّرَ اِحْدٰيهُمَا الْاُخْرٰىۜ وَلَا يَأْبَ الشُّهَدَٓاءُ اِذَا مَا دُعُواۜ وَلَا تَسْـَٔمُٓوا اَنْ تَكْتُبُوهُ صَغ۪يراً اَوْ كَب۪يراً اِلٰٓى اَجَلِه۪ۜ ذٰلِكُمْ اَقْسَطُ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ وَاَقْوَمُ لِلشَّهَادَةِ وَاَدْنٰٓى اَلَّا تَرْتَابُٓوا اِلَّٓا اَنْ تَكُونَ تِجَارَةً حَاضِرَةً تُد۪يرُونَهَا بَيْنَكُمْ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ اَلَّا تَكْتُبُوهَاۜ وَاَشْهِدُٓوا اِذَا تَبَايَعْتُمْۖ وَلَا يُضَٓارَّ كَاتِبٌ وَلَا شَه۪يدٌۜ وَاِنْ تَفْعَلُوا فَاِنَّهُ فُسُوقٌ بِكُمْۜ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَۜ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ اللّٰهُۜ وَاللّٰهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَل۪يمٌ Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooitha tadayantum bidaynin ila ajalin musammanfaktuboohu walyaktub baynakum katibun bilAAadliwala ya/ba katibun an yaktuba kamaAAallamahu Allahu falyaktub walyumlili allatheeAAalayhi alhaqqu walyattaqi Allaha rabbahu walayabkhas minhu shay-an fa-in kana allathee AAalayhialhaqqu safeehan aw daAAeefan aw la yastateeAAuan yumilla huwa falyumlil waliyyuhu bilAAadli wastashhidooshaheedayni min rijalikum fa-in lam yakoonarajulayni farajulun wamraatani mimman tardawnamina ashshuhada-i an tadilla ihdahumafatuthakkira ihdahuma al-okhrawala ya/ba ashshuhadao itha maduAAoo wala tas-amoo an taktuboohu sagheeran awkabeeran ila ajalihi thalikum aqsatu AAindaAllahi waaqwamu lishshahadati waadnaalla tartaboo illa an takoona tijaratanhadiratan tudeeroonaha baynakum falaysa AAalaykumjunahun alla taktubooha waashhidoo ithatabayaAAtum wala yudarra katibun walashaheedun wa-in tafAAaloo fa-innahu fusooqun bikum wattaqooAllaha wayuAAallimukumu Allahu wallahubikulli shay-in AAaleem O you who heed warning: when you contract a debt together to a stated term: write it down, and let a writer write it down between you justly; and let not a writer refuse to write it down as God has taught him; so let him write, and let the debtor dictate, and let him be in prudent fear of God, his Lord, and diminish nothing thereof. But if the debtor be incompetent, or weak, or unable to dictate himself, then his ally shall dictate justly. And call to witness two witnesses from among your men; but if there be not two men, then a man and two women among those you approve as witnesses, that should one of them err, one of them might remind the other; and let not the witnesses refuse when they are called. And be not weary of writing it, small or great, with its term (that is more just in the sight of God, and more upright for witness, and likelier that there will be no doubt between you) save if it be present trade that you transact among you; then you do no wrong that you write it not down. And take witnesses when you enter into contract. And let not a writer or witness be harmed. And if you do, then is it perfidy among you. And be in prudent fear of God. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 282 - **Form in this verse:** يَكْتُبَ — yaktuba · "he writes" - **Grammar:** verb · 3rd person, masculine, singular · present tense يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُٓوا اِذَا تَدَايَنْتُمْ بِدَيْنٍ اِلٰٓى اَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى فَاكْتُبُوهُۜ وَلْيَكْتُبْ بَيْنَكُمْ كَاتِبٌ بِالْعَدْلِۖ وَلَا يَأْبَ كَاتِبٌ اَنْ يَكْتُبَ كَمَا عَلَّمَهُ اللّٰهُ فَلْيَكْتُبْۚ وَلْيُمْلِلِ الَّذ۪ي عَلَيْهِ الْحَقُّ وَلْيَتَّقِ اللّٰهَ رَبَّهُ وَلَا يَبْخَسْ مِنْهُ شَيْـٔاًۜ فَاِنْ كَانَ الَّذ۪ي عَلَيْهِ الْحَقُّ سَف۪يهاً اَوْ ضَع۪يفاً اَوْ لَا يَسْتَط۪يعُ اَنْ يُمِلَّ هُوَ فَلْيُمْلِلْ وَلِيُّهُ بِالْعَدْلِۜ وَاسْتَشْهِدُوا شَه۪يدَيْنِ مِنْ رِجَالِكُمْۚ فَاِنْ لَمْ يَكُونَا رَجُلَيْنِ فَرَجُلٌ وَامْرَاَتَانِ مِمَّنْ تَرْضَوْنَ مِنَ الشُّهَدَٓاءِ اَنْ تَضِلَّ اِحْدٰيهُمَا فَتُذَكِّرَ اِحْدٰيهُمَا الْاُخْرٰىۜ وَلَا يَأْبَ الشُّهَدَٓاءُ اِذَا مَا دُعُواۜ وَلَا تَسْـَٔمُٓوا اَنْ تَكْتُبُوهُ صَغ۪يراً اَوْ كَب۪يراً اِلٰٓى اَجَلِه۪ۜ ذٰلِكُمْ اَقْسَطُ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ وَاَقْوَمُ لِلشَّهَادَةِ وَاَدْنٰٓى اَلَّا تَرْتَابُٓوا اِلَّٓا اَنْ تَكُونَ تِجَارَةً حَاضِرَةً تُد۪يرُونَهَا بَيْنَكُمْ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ اَلَّا تَكْتُبُوهَاۜ وَاَشْهِدُٓوا اِذَا تَبَايَعْتُمْۖ وَلَا يُضَٓارَّ كَاتِبٌ وَلَا شَه۪يدٌۜ وَاِنْ تَفْعَلُوا فَاِنَّهُ فُسُوقٌ بِكُمْۜ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَۜ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ اللّٰهُۜ وَاللّٰهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَل۪يمٌ Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooitha tadayantum bidaynin ila ajalin musammanfaktuboohu walyaktub baynakum katibun bilAAadliwala ya/ba katibun an yaktuba kamaAAallamahu Allahu falyaktub walyumlili allatheeAAalayhi alhaqqu walyattaqi Allaha rabbahu walayabkhas minhu shay-an fa-in kana allathee AAalayhialhaqqu safeehan aw daAAeefan aw la yastateeAAuan yumilla huwa falyumlil waliyyuhu bilAAadli wastashhidooshaheedayni min rijalikum fa-in lam yakoonarajulayni farajulun wamraatani mimman tardawnamina ashshuhada-i an tadilla ihdahumafatuthakkira ihdahuma al-okhrawala ya/ba ashshuhadao itha maduAAoo wala tas-amoo an taktuboohu sagheeran awkabeeran ila ajalihi thalikum aqsatu AAindaAllahi waaqwamu lishshahadati waadnaalla tartaboo illa an takoona tijaratanhadiratan tudeeroonaha baynakum falaysa AAalaykumjunahun alla taktubooha waashhidoo ithatabayaAAtum wala yudarra katibun walashaheedun wa-in tafAAaloo fa-innahu fusooqun bikum wattaqooAllaha wayuAAallimukumu Allahu wallahubikulli shay-in AAaleem O you who heed warning: when you contract a debt together to a stated term: write it down, and let a writer write it down between you justly; and let not a writer refuse to write it down as God has taught him; so let him write, and let the debtor dictate, and let him be in prudent fear of God, his Lord, and diminish nothing thereof. But if the debtor be incompetent, or weak, or unable to dictate himself, then his ally shall dictate justly. And call to witness two witnesses from among your men; but if there be not two men, then a man and two women among those you approve as witnesses, that should one of them err, one of them might remind the other; and let not the witnesses refuse when they are called. But if the debtor be incompetent, or weak, or unable to dictate himself, then his ally shall dictate justly. And call to witness two witnesses from among your men; but if there be not two men, then a man and two women among those you approve as witnesses, that should one of them err, one of them might remind the other; and let not the witnesses refuse when they are called. And be not weary of writing it, small or great, with its term (that is more just in the sight of God, and more upright for witness, and likelier that there will be no doubt between you) save if it be present trade that you transact among you; then you do no wrong that you write it not down. And take witnesses when you enter into contract. And let not a writer or witness be harmed. And if you do, then is it perfidy among you. And be in prudent fear of God. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 282 - **Form in this verse:** كَاتِبٌۭ — kātibun · "(the) scribe" - **Grammar:** noun · active · masculine · nominative case · indefinite يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُٓوا اِذَا تَدَايَنْتُمْ بِدَيْنٍ اِلٰٓى اَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى فَاكْتُبُوهُۜ وَلْيَكْتُبْ بَيْنَكُمْ كَاتِبٌ بِالْعَدْلِۖ وَلَا يَأْبَ كَاتِبٌ اَنْ يَكْتُبَ كَمَا عَلَّمَهُ اللّٰهُ فَلْيَكْتُبْۚ وَلْيُمْلِلِ الَّذ۪ي عَلَيْهِ الْحَقُّ وَلْيَتَّقِ اللّٰهَ رَبَّهُ وَلَا يَبْخَسْ مِنْهُ شَيْـٔاًۜ فَاِنْ كَانَ الَّذ۪ي عَلَيْهِ الْحَقُّ سَف۪يهاً اَوْ ضَع۪يفاً اَوْ لَا يَسْتَط۪يعُ اَنْ يُمِلَّ هُوَ فَلْيُمْلِلْ وَلِيُّهُ بِالْعَدْلِۜ وَاسْتَشْهِدُوا شَه۪يدَيْنِ مِنْ رِجَالِكُمْۚ فَاِنْ لَمْ يَكُونَا رَجُلَيْنِ فَرَجُلٌ وَامْرَاَتَانِ مِمَّنْ تَرْضَوْنَ مِنَ الشُّهَدَٓاءِ اَنْ تَضِلَّ اِحْدٰيهُمَا فَتُذَكِّرَ اِحْدٰيهُمَا الْاُخْرٰىۜ وَلَا يَأْبَ الشُّهَدَٓاءُ اِذَا مَا دُعُواۜ وَلَا تَسْـَٔمُٓوا اَنْ تَكْتُبُوهُ صَغ۪يراً اَوْ كَب۪يراً اِلٰٓى اَجَلِه۪ۜ ذٰلِكُمْ اَقْسَطُ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ وَاَقْوَمُ لِلشَّهَادَةِ وَاَدْنٰٓى اَلَّا تَرْتَابُٓوا اِلَّٓا اَنْ تَكُونَ تِجَارَةً حَاضِرَةً تُد۪يرُونَهَا بَيْنَكُمْ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ اَلَّا تَكْتُبُوهَاۜ وَاَشْهِدُٓوا اِذَا تَبَايَعْتُمْۖ وَلَا يُضَٓارَّ كَاتِبٌ وَلَا شَه۪يدٌۜ وَاِنْ تَفْعَلُوا فَاِنَّهُ فُسُوقٌ بِكُمْۜ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَۜ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ اللّٰهُۜ وَاللّٰهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَل۪يمٌ Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooitha tadayantum bidaynin ila ajalin musammanfaktuboohu walyaktub baynakum katibun bilAAadliwala ya/ba katibun an yaktuba kamaAAallamahu Allahu falyaktub walyumlili allatheeAAalayhi alhaqqu walyattaqi Allaha rabbahu walayabkhas minhu shay-an fa-in kana allathee AAalayhialhaqqu safeehan aw daAAeefan aw la yastateeAAuan yumilla huwa falyumlil waliyyuhu bilAAadli wastashhidooshaheedayni min rijalikum fa-in lam yakoonarajulayni farajulun wamraatani mimman tardawnamina ashshuhada-i an tadilla ihdahumafatuthakkira ihdahuma al-okhrawala ya/ba ashshuhadao itha maduAAoo wala tas-amoo an taktuboohu sagheeran awkabeeran ila ajalihi thalikum aqsatu AAindaAllahi waaqwamu lishshahadati waadnaalla tartaboo illa an takoona tijaratanhadiratan tudeeroonaha baynakum falaysa AAalaykumjunahun alla taktubooha waashhidoo ithatabayaAAtum wala yudarra katibun walashaheedun wa-in tafAAaloo fa-innahu fusooqun bikum wattaqooAllaha wayuAAallimukumu Allahu wallahubikulli shay-in AAaleem O you who heed warning: when you contract a debt together to a stated term: write it down, and let a writer write it down between you justly; and let not a writer refuse to write it down as God has taught him; so let him write, and let the debtor dictate, and let him be in prudent fear of God, his Lord, and diminish nothing thereof. But if the debtor be incompetent, or weak, or unable to dictate himself, then his ally shall dictate justly. And call to witness two witnesses from among your men; but if there be not two men, then a man and two women among those you approve as witnesses, that should one of them err, one of them might remind the other; and let not the witnesses refuse when they are called. And be not weary of writing it, small or great, with its term (that is more just in the sight of God, and more upright for witness, and likelier that there will be no doubt between you) save if it be present trade that you transact among you; then you do no wrong that you write it not down. And take witnesses when you enter into contract. And let not a writer or witness be harmed. And if you do, then is it perfidy among you. And be in prudent fear of God. But if one of you trusts another, then let him who is trusted discharge his trust, and let him be in prudent fear of God, his Lord. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 7 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ — l-kitāba · "the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case هُوَ الَّـذ۪ٓي اَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ مِنْهُ اٰيَاتٌ مُحْكَمَاتٌ هُنَّ اُمُّ الْكِتَابِ وَاُخَرُ مُتَشَابِهَاتٌۜ فَاَمَّا الَّذ۪ينَ ف۪ي قُلُوبِهِمْ زَيْغٌ فَيَتَّبِعُونَ مَا تَشَابَهَ مِنْهُ ابْتِغَٓاءَ الْفِتْنَةِ وَابْتِغَٓاءَ تَأْو۪يلِه۪ۚ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ تَأْو۪يلَهُٓ اِلَّا اللّٰهُۢ وَالرَّاسِخُونَ فِي الْعِلْمِ يَقُولُونَ اٰمَنَّا بِه۪ۙ كُلٌّ مِنْ عِنْدِ رَبِّنَاۚ وَمَا يَذَّكَّرُ اِلَّٓا اُو۬لُوا الْاَلْبَابِ Huwa allathee anzala AAalayka alkitabaminhu ayatun muhkamatun hunna ommualkitabi waokharu mutashabihatun faammaallatheena fee quloobihim zayghun fayattabiAAoona matashabaha minhu ibtighaa alfitnati wabtighaata/weelihi wama yaAAlamu ta/weelahu illa Allahuwarrasikhoona fee alAAilmi yaqooloona amannabihi kullun min AAindi rabbina wama yaththakkaruilla oloo al-albab He it is that sent down upon thee the Writ; among it are explicit proofs: they are the foundation of the Writ; and others are ambiguous. Then as for those in whose hearts is deviation: they follow what is ambiguous thereof, seeking the means of denial, and seeking its interpretation. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 20 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ — l-kitāba · "the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case فَاِنْ حَٓاجُّوكَ فَقُلْ اَسْلَمْتُ وَجْهِيَ لِلّٰهِ وَمَنِ اتَّـبَعَنِۜ وَقُلْ لِلَّذ۪ينَ اُو۫تُوا الْكِتَابَ وَالْاُمِّيّ۪نَ ءَاَسْلَمْتُمْۜ فَاِنْ اَسْلَمُوا فَقَدِ اهْتَدَوْاۚ وَاِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَاِنَّمَا عَلَيْكَ الْبَلَاغُۜ وَاللّٰهُ بَص۪يرٌ بِالْعِبَادِ۟ Fa-in hajjooka faqul aslamtu wajhiyalillahi wamani ittabaAAani waqul lillatheena ootooalkitaba walommiyyeena aaslamtum fa-inaslamoo faqadi ihtadaw wa-in tawallaw fa-innama AAalaykaalbalaghu wallahu baseerun bilAAibad And if they argue with thee, then say thou: “I have submitted my face to God, as have those who follow me.” And say thou to those given the Writ and to the unschooled: “Have you submitted?” And if they have submitted, then are they guided; but if they turn away, then upon thee is only the notification; and God sees the servants. _https://quran.so/surah-ali-imran/verse-20.md_ ### 3. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 75 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ — l-kitābi · "(of) the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case وَمِنْ اَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ مَنْ اِنْ تَأْمَنْهُ بِقِنْطَارٍ يُؤَدِّه۪ٓ اِلَيْكَۚ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ اِنْ تَأْمَنْهُ بِد۪ينَارٍ لَا يُؤَدِّه۪ٓ اِلَيْكَ اِلَّا مَا دُمْتَ عَلَيْهِ قَٓائِماًۜ ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا لَيْسَ عَلَيْنَا فِي الْاُمِّيّ۪نَ سَب۪يلٌۚ وَيَقُولُونَ عَلَى اللّٰهِ الْكَذِبَ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ Wamin ahli alkitabi man in ta/manhubiqintarin yu-addihi ilayka waminhum man in ta/manhubideenarin la yu-addihi ilayka illa madumta AAalayhi qa-iman thalika bi-annahum qaloolaysa AAalayna fee al-ommiyyeena sabeelun wayaqooloonaAAala Allahi alkathiba wahum yaAAlamoon And among the doctors of the Law is he who, if thou entrust him with a fortune, will deliver it to thee. And among them is he who, if thou entrust him with a dinar, will not return it to thee unless thou stand over him. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 81 - **Form in this verse:** كِتَـٰبٍۢ — kitābin · "(the) Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case · indefinite وَاِذْ اَخَذَ اللّٰهُ م۪يثَاقَ النَّبِيّ۪نَ لَـمَٓا اٰتَيْتُكُمْ مِنْ كِتَابٍ وَحِكْمَةٍ ثُمَّ جَٓاءَكُمْ رَسُولٌ مُصَدِّقٌ لِمَا مَعَكُمْ لَتُؤْمِنُنَّ بِه۪ وَلَتَنْصُرُنَّهُۜ قَالَ ءَاَقْرَرْتُمْ وَاَخَذْتُمْ عَلٰى ذٰلِكُمْ اِصْر۪يۜ قَالُٓوا اَقْرَرْنَاۜ قَالَ فَاشْهَدُوا وَاَنَا۬ مَعَكُمْ مِنَ الشَّاهِد۪ينَ Wa-ith akhatha Allahumeethaqa annabiyyeena lama ataytukummin kitabin wahikmatin thumma jaakumrasoolun musaddiqun lima maAAakum latu/minunna bihiwalatansurunnahu qala aaqrartum waakhathtumAAala thalikum isree qaloo aqrarnaqala fashhadoo waana maAAakum mina ashshahideen And when God took agreement of the prophets: “What I give you of Writ and wisdom, then there comes to you a messenger confirming what is with you: you shall believe in him and help him.” He said: “Do you affirm and take upon that My covenant?” Said they: “We do affirm.” He said: “Then bear witness; and I am with you among the witnesses.” _https://quran.so/surah-ali-imran/verse-81.md_ ### 3. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 99 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ — l-kitābi · "(of) the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case قُلْ يَٓا اَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لِمَ تَصُدُّونَ عَنْ سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ مَنْ اٰمَنَ تَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجاً وَاَنْتُمْ شُهَدَٓاءُۜ وَمَا اللّٰهُ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ Qul ya ahla alkitabi lima tasuddoonaAAan sabeeli Allahi man amana tabghoonahaAAiwajan waantum shuhadao wama Allahu bighafilinAAamma taAAmaloon Say thou: “O doctors of the Law: why turn you away from the path of God him who believes, seeking its deviation when you are witnesses? Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 110 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ — l-kitābi · "(of) the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case كُنْتُمْ خَيْرَ اُمَّةٍ اُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ تَأْمُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَتَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّٰهِۜ وَلَوْ اٰمَنَ اَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ لَكَانَ خَيْراً لَهُمْۜ مِنْهُمُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَاَكْثَرُهُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ Kuntum khayra ommatin okhrijat linnasita/muroona bilmaAAroofi watanhawna AAani almunkariwatu/minoona billahi walaw amana ahlu alkitabilakana khayran lahum minhumu almu/minoona waaktharuhumualfasiqoon You are the best community brought forth for mankind: you enjoin what is fitting, and you forbid perversity, and you believe in God. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 113 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ — l-kitābi · "(of) the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case لَيْسُوا سَوَٓاءًۜ مِنْ اَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ اُمَّةٌ قَٓائِمَةٌ يَتْلُونَ اٰيَاتِ اللّٰهِ اٰنَٓاءَ الَّيْلِ وَهُمْ يَسْجُدُونَ۠ Laysoo sawaan min ahli alkitabiommatun qa-imatun yatloona ayati Allahianaa allayli wahum yasjudoon They are not the same; among the doctors of the Law is an upright community: they recite the proofs of God in watches of the night, and they submit; _https://quran.so/surah-ali-imran/verse-113.md_ ### 3. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 119 - **Form in this verse:** بِٱلْكِتَـٰبِ — bil-kitābi · "in the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case هَٓا اَنْتُمْ اُو۬لَٓاءِ تُحِبُّونَهُمْ وَلَا يُحِبُّونَكُمْ وَتُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْكِتَابِ كُلِّه۪ۚ وَاِذَا لَقُوكُمْ قَالُٓوا اٰمَنَّاۗ وَاِذَا خَلَوْا عَضُّوا عَلَيْكُمُ الْاَنَامِلَ مِنَ الْغَيْظِۜ قُلْ مُوتُوا بِغَيْظِكُمْۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَل۪يمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ Ha antum ola-i tuhibboonahumwala yuhibboonakum watu/minoona bilkitabikullihi wa-itha laqookum qaloo amannawa-itha khalaw AAaddoo AAalaykumu al-anamilamina alghaythi qul mootoo bighaythikuminna Allaha AAaleemun bithati assudoor Here you are, those who love them; and they love you not, when you believe in the Writ — all of it. And when they meet you, they say: “We believe,” but when they are alone, they bite their fingertips at you from rage. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 145 - **Form in this verse:** كِتَـٰبًۭا — kitāban · "(at a) decree" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case · indefinite وَمَا كَانَ لِنَفْسٍ اَنْ تَمُوتَ اِلَّا بِاِذْنِ اللّٰهِ كِتَاباً مُؤَجَّلاًۜ وَمَنْ يُرِدْ ثَوَابَ الدُّنْيَا نُؤْتِه۪ مِنْهَاۚ وَمَنْ يُرِدْ ثَوَابَ الْاٰخِرَةِ نُؤْتِه۪ مِنْهَاۜ وَسَنَجْزِي الشَّاكِر۪ينَ Wama kana linafsin an tamootailla bi-ithni Allahi kitabanmu-ajjalan waman yurid thawaba addunyanu/tihi minha waman yurid thawaba al-akhiratinu/tihi minha wasanajzee ashshakireen And it is not for a soul to die, save by the leave of God, at a writ determined. And whoso desires the reward of the World, We give him thereof; and whoso desires the reward of the Hereafter, We give him thereof; and We reward the grateful. _https://quran.so/surah-ali-imran/verse-145.md_ ### 3. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 154 - **Form in this verse:** كُتِبَ — kutiba · "was decreed" - **Grammar:** verb · passive · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense ثُمَّ اَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ الْغَمِّ اَمَنَةً نُعَاساً يَغْشٰى طَٓائِفَةً مِنْكُمْۙ وَطَٓائِفَةٌ قَدْ اَهَمَّتْهُمْ اَنْفُسُهُمْ يَظُنُّونَ بِاللّٰهِ غَيْرَ الْحَقِّ ظَنَّ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِۜ يَقُولُونَ هَلْ لَنَا مِنَ الْاَمْرِ مِنْ شَيْءٍۜ قُلْ اِنَّ الْاَمْرَ كُلَّهُ لِلّٰهِۜ يُخْفُونَ ف۪ٓي اَنْفُسِهِمْ مَا لَا يُبْدُونَ لَكَۜ يَقُولُونَ لَوْ كَانَ لَنَا مِنَ الْاَمْرِ شَيْءٌ مَا قُتِلْنَا هٰهُنَاۜ قُلْ لَوْ كُنْتُمْ ف۪ي بُيُوتِكُمْ لَبَرَزَ الَّذ۪ينَ كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقَتْلُ اِلٰى مَضَاجِعِهِمْۚ وَلِيَبْتَلِيَ اللّٰهُ مَا ف۪ي صُدُورِكُمْ وَلِيُمَحِّصَ مَا ف۪ي قُلُوبِكُمْۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَل۪يمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ Thumma anzala AAalaykum min baAAdi alghammiamanatan nuAAasan yaghsha ta-ifatan minkumwata-ifatun qad ahammat-hum anfusuhum yathunnoonabillahi ghayra alhaqqi thannaaljahiliyyati yaqooloona hal lana mina al-amri minshay-in qul inna al-amra kullahu lillahi yukhfoona feeanfusihim ma la yubdoona laka yaqooloona law kanalana mina al-amri shay-on ma qutilna hahunaqul law kuntum fee buyootikum labaraza allatheena kutibaAAalayhimu alqatlu ila madajiAAihim waliyabtaliyaAllahu ma fee sudoorikum waliyumahhisama fee quloobikum wallahu AAaleemun bithatiassudoor Then He sent down upon you, after distress, security, slumber overcoming a number of you; and a number had grieved themselves thinking about God other than the truth — the thought of ignorance — saying: “Have we any part in the affair?” Say thou: “The affair belongs entirely to God.” They hide within themselves what they reveal not to thee, saying: “Had we any part in the affair, we would not have been slain here.” Say thou: “Had you been in your houses, those for whom killing was decreed would have gone forth to their resting places”; and: “That God might try what is in your breasts”; and: “That He might refine what is in your hearts.” And God knows what is in the breasts. _https://quran.so/surah-ali-imran/verse-154.md_ ### 3. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 164 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ — l-kitāba · "the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case لَقَدْ مَنَّ اللّٰهُ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِن۪ينَ اِذْ بَعَثَ ف۪يهِمْ رَسُولاً مِنْ اَنْفُسِهِمْ يَتْلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ اٰيَاتِه۪ وَيُزَكّ۪يهِمْ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَۚ وَاِنْ كَانُوا مِنْ قَبْلُ لَف۪ي ضَلَالٍ مُب۪ينٍ Laqad manna Allahu AAalaalmu/mineena ith baAAatha feehim rasoolan min anfusihimyatloo AAalayhim ayatihi wayuzakkeehimwayuAAallimuhumu alkitaba walhikmata wa-inkanoo min qablu lafee dalalin mubeen God indeed showed favour to the believers when He raised up among them a messenger among themselves, reciting to them His proofs, and increasing them in purity, and teaching them the Writ and wisdom — though they were before in manifest error. _https://quran.so/surah-ali-imran/verse-164.md_ ### 3. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 181 - **Form in this verse:** سَنَكْتُبُ — sanaktubu · "We will record" - **Grammar:** verb · 1st person, plural · present tense لَقَدْ سَمِـعَ اللّٰهُ قَوْلَ الَّذ۪ينَ قَالُٓوا اِنَّ اللّٰهَ فَق۪يرٌ وَنَحْنُ اَغْنِيَٓاءُۢ سَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَالُوا وَقَتْلَهُمُ الْاَنْبِيَٓاءَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّۙ وَنَقُولُ ذُوقُوا عَذَابَ الْحَر۪يقِ Laqad samiAAa Allahu qawla allatheenaqaloo inna Allaha faqeerun wanahnu aghniyaonsanaktubu ma qaloo waqatlahumu al-anbiyaabighayri haqqin wanaqoolu thooqoo AAathabaalhareeq God has heard the saying of those who say: “God is poor, and we are rich.” We will record what they say, and their killing of the prophets without cause; (and We will say: “Taste the punishment of the consuming fire _https://quran.so/surah-ali-imran/verse-181.md_ ### 3. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 184 - **Form in this verse:** وَٱلْكِتَـٰبِ — wal-kitābi · "and the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case فَاِنْ كَذَّبُوكَ فَقَدْ كُذِّبَ رُسُلٌ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ جَٓاؤُ۫ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ وَالزُّبُرِ وَالْكِتَابِ الْمُن۪يرِ Fa-in kaththabooka faqad kuththibarusulun min qablika jaoo bilbayyinati wazzuburiwalkitabi almuneer And if they deny thee, then denied were the messengers who were before thee, who came with the clear signs, and the writings, and the Illuminating Writ. _https://quran.so/surah-ali-imran/verse-184.md_ ### 3. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 186 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ — l-kitāba · "the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case لَتُبْلَوُنَّ ف۪ٓي اَمْوَالِكُمْ وَاَنْفُسِكُمْ وَلَتَسْمَعُنَّ مِنَ الَّذ۪ينَ اُو۫تُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ وَمِنَ الَّذ۪ينَ اَشْرَكُٓوا اَذًى كَث۪يراًۜ وَاِنْ تَصْبِرُوا وَتَتَّقُوا فَاِنَّ ذٰلِكَ مِنْ عَزْمِ الْاُمُورِ Latublawunna fee amwalikumwaanfusikum walatasmaAAunna mina allatheena ootoo alkitabamin qablikum wamina allatheena ashrakoo athankatheeran wa-in tasbiroo watattaqoo fa-inna thalikamin AAazmi al-omoor You will be tried in your wealth and in yourselves. And you will hear from those given the Writ before you, and from the idolaters, much hindrance. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 187 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ — l-kitāba · "the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case وَاِذْ اَخَذَ اللّٰهُ م۪يثَاقَ الَّذ۪ينَ اُو۫تُوا الْكِتَابَ لَتُبَيِّنُنَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَكْتُمُونَهُۘ فَنَبَذُوهُ وَرَٓاءَ ظُهُورِهِمْ وَاشْتَرَوْا بِه۪ ثَمَناً قَل۪يلاًۜ فَبِئْسَ مَا يَشْتَرُونَ Wa-ith akhatha Allahumeethaqa allatheena ootoo alkitabalatubayyinunnahu linnasi wala taktumoonahufanabathoohu waraa thuhoorihim washtarawbihi thamanan qaleelan fabi/sa ma yashtaroon And when God took an agreement of those given the Writ: “You are to make it plain to mankind, and not to conceal it,” then they cast it behind their backs, and sold it at a cheap price; and evil is what they bought. _https://quran.so/surah-ali-imran/verse-187.md_ ### 3. Surah Ali 'Imran, Verse 199 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ — l-kitābi · "(of) the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case وَاِنَّ مِنْ اَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ لَمَنْ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللّٰهِ وَمَٓا اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْكُمْ وَمَٓا اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْهِمْ خَاشِع۪ينَ لِلّٰهِۙ لَا يَشْتَرُونَ بِاٰيَاتِ اللّٰهِ ثَمَناً قَل۪يلاًۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ اَجْرُهُمْ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ سَر۪يعُ الْحِسَابِ Wa-inna min ahli alkitabi lamanyu/minu billahi wama onzila ilaykum wamaonzila ilayhim khashiAAeena lillahi layashtaroona bi-ayati Allahi thamananqaleelan ola-ika lahum ajruhum AAinda rabbihim inna AllahasareeAAu alhisab And among the doctors of the Law are those who believe in God and what was sent down to you, and what was sent down to them: — humble towards God, they sell not the proofs of God at a cheap price — those have their reward with their Lord; God is swift in reckoning. _https://quran.so/surah-ali-imran/verse-199.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 24 - **Form in this verse:** كِتَـٰبَ — kitāba · "Decree" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case وَالْمُحْصَنَاتُ مِنَ النِّسَٓاءِ اِلَّا مَا مَلَكَتْ اَيْمَانُكُمْۚ كِتَابَ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكُمْۘ وَاُحِلَّ لَكُمْ مَا وَرَٓاءَ ذٰلِكُمْ اَنْ تَبْتَغُوا بِاَمْوَالِكُمْ مُحْصِن۪ينَ غَيْرَ مُسَافِح۪ينَۜ فَمَا اسْتَمْتَعْتُمْ بِه۪ مِنْهُنَّ فَاٰتُوهُنَّ اُجُورَهُنَّ فَر۪يضَةًۜ وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ ف۪يمَا تَرَاضَيْتُمْ بِه۪ مِنْ بَعْدِ الْفَر۪يضَةِۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَل۪يماً حَك۪يماً Walmuhsanatu mina annisa-iilla ma malakat aymanukum kitaba AllahiAAalaykum waohilla lakum ma waraa thalikuman tabtaghoo bi-amwalikum muhsineena ghayra musafiheenafama istamtaAAtum bihi minhunna faatoohunnaojoorahunna fareedatan wala junaha AAalaykumfeema taradaytum bihi min baAAdi alfareedatiinna Allaha kana AAaleeman hakeema And married women save what your right hands possess. The Writ of God is over you. But lawful to you is what is beyond that, if you seek with your wealth in chastity, not being fornicators. And what you enjoy thereby of them: give them their rewards as an obligation. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 66 - **Form in this verse:** كَتَبْنَا — katabnā · "(had) decreed" - **Grammar:** verb · 1st person, plural · past tense وَلَوْ اَنَّا كَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ اَنِ اقْتُلُٓوا اَنْفُسَكُمْ اَوِ اخْرُجُوا مِنْ دِيَارِكُمْ مَا فَعَلُوهُ اِلَّا قَل۪يلٌ مِنْهُمْۜ وَلَوْ اَنَّهُمْ فَعَلُوا مَا يُوعَظُونَ بِه۪ لَكَانَ خَيْراً لَهُمْ وَاَشَدَّ تَثْب۪يتاًۙ Walaw anna katabna AAalayhimani oqtuloo anfusakum awi okhrujoo min diyarikum mafaAAaloohu illa qaleelun minhum walaw annahum faAAaloo mayooAAathoona bihi lakana khayran lahumwaashadda tathbeeta And had We prescribed for them: “Kill yourselves,” or: “Go forth from your homes,” there would have done it only a few among them; and had they done what they were exhorted, it would have been better for them and a stronger confirmation, _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-66.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 77 - **Form in this verse:** كُتِبَ — kutiba · "was ordained" - **Grammar:** verb · passive · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَى الَّذ۪ينَ ق۪يلَ لَهُمْ كُفُّٓوا اَيْدِيَكُمْ وَاَق۪يمُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَاٰتُوا الزَّكٰوةَۚ فَلَمَّا كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقِتَالُ اِذَا فَر۪يقٌ مِنْهُمْ يَخْشَوْنَ النَّاسَ كَخَشْيَةِ اللّٰهِ اَوْ اَشَدَّ خَشْيَةًۚ وَقَالُوا رَبَّنَا لِمَ كَتَبْتَ عَلَيْنَا الْقِتَالَۚ لَوْلَٓا اَخَّرْتَنَٓا اِلٰٓى اَجَلٍ قَر۪يبٍۜ قُلْ مَتَاعُ الدُّنْيَا قَل۪يلٌۚ وَالْاٰخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِمَنِ اتَّقٰى وَلَا تُظْلَمُونَ فَت۪يلاً Alam tara ila allatheena qeelalahum kuffoo aydiyakum waaqeemoo assalatawaatoo azzakata falamma kutibaAAalayhimu alqitalu itha fareequn minhum yakhshawnaannasa kakhashyati Allahi aw ashaddakhashyatan waqaloo rabbana lima katabta AAalaynaalqitala lawla akhkhartana ila ajalinqareebin qul mataAAu addunya qaleelun wal-akhiratukhayrun limani ittaqa wala tuthlamoonafateela Hast thou not considered those to whom it was said: “Restrain your hands; and uphold the duty, and render the purity,” but when fighting is prescribed for them, then a faction among them fears men like the fear of God, or a stronger fear? And they said: “Our Lord: why hast Thou prescribed fighting for us? Oh, that Thou wouldst but delay us a little while!” Say thou: “Little is the enjoyment of the World”; and the Hereafter is better for him who is in prudent fear; and you will not be wronged a hair upon a date-stone. _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-77.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 103 - **Form in this verse:** كِتَـٰبًۭا — kitāban · "prescribed" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case · indefinite فَاِذَا قَضَيْتُمُ الصَّلٰوةَ فَاذْكُرُوا اللّٰهَ قِيَاماً وَقُعُوداً وَعَلٰى جُنُوبِكُمْۚ فَاِذَا اطْمَأْنَنْتُمْ فَاَق۪يمُوا الصَّلٰوةَۚ اِنَّ الصَّلٰوةَ كَانَتْ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِن۪ينَ كِتَاباً مَوْقُوتاً Fa-itha qadaytumu assalatafathkuroo Allaha qiyaman waquAAoodanwaAAala junoobikum fa-itha itma/nantumfaaqeemoo assalata inna assalatakanat AAala almu/mineena kitaban mawqoota And when you have concluded the duty, remember God standing, and sitting, and upon your sides, and when you are at ease; but uphold the duty — the duty is upon the believers a time-limited Writ — _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-103.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 113 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ — l-kitāba · "the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · accusative case وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَتُهُ لَهَمَّتْ طَٓائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ اَنْ يُضِلُّوكَۜ وَمَا يُضِلُّونَ اِلَّٓا اَنْفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَضُرُّونَكَ مِنْ شَيْءٍۜ وَاَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَعَلَّمَكَ مَا لَمْ تَكُنْ تَعْلَمُۜ وَكَانَ فَضْلُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكَ عَظ۪يماً Walawla fadlu AllahiAAalayka warahmatuhu lahammat ta-ifatun minhum anyudillooka wama yudilloona illaanfusahum wama yadurroonaka min shay-in waanzalaAllahu AAalayka alkitaba walhikmatawaAAallamaka ma lam takun taAAlamu wakana fadluAllahi AAalayka AAatheema And were it not for the bounty of God and His mercy upon thee, a number of them had purposed to lead thee astray; and they lead astray only themselves, and they harm thee not at all. And God sent down upon thee the Writ and wisdom; and He has taught thee what thou knewest not. And the bounty of God towards thee is tremendous. _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-113.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 123 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ۗ — l-kitābi · "(of) the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case لَيْسَ بِاَمَانِيِّكُمْ وَلَٓا اَمَانِيِّ اَهْلِ الْكِتَابِۜ مَنْ يَعْمَلْ سُٓوءاً يُجْزَ بِه۪ۙ وَلَا يَجِدْ لَهُ مِنْ دُونِ اللّٰهِ وَلِياًّ وَلَا نَص۪يراً Laysa bi-amaniyyikum wala amaniyyiahli alkitabi man yaAAmal soo-an yujza bihi walayajid lahu min dooni Allahi waliyyan wala naseera It is not according to your vain desires, nor the vain desires of the doctors of the Law; whoso does evil has the recompense thereof and will not find, besides God, ally or helper. _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-123.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 127 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ — l-kitābi · "the Book" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case وَيَسْتَفْتُونَكَ فِي النِّسَٓاءِۜ قُلِ اللّٰهُ يُفْت۪يكُمْ ف۪يهِنَّۙ وَمَا يُتْلٰى عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الْكِتَابِ ف۪ي يَتَامَى النِّسَٓاءِ الّٰت۪ي لَا تُؤْتُونَهُنَّ مَا كُتِبَ لَهُنَّ وَتَرْغَبُونَ اَنْ تَنْكِحُوهُنَّ وَالْمُسْتَضْعَف۪ينَ مِنَ الْوِلْدَانِۙ وَاَنْ تَقُومُوا لِلْيَتَامٰى بِالْقِسْطِۜ وَمَا تَفْعَلُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ بِه۪ عَل۪يماً Wayastaftoonaka fee annisa-iquli Allahu yufteekum feehinna wama yutlaAAalaykum fee alkitabi fee yatama annisa-iallatee la tu/toonahunna ma kutiba lahunnawatarghaboona an tankihoohunna walmustadAAafeenamina alwildani waan taqoomoo lilyatama bilqistiwama tafAAaloo min khayrin fa-inna Allaha kanabihi AAaleema And they ask thee for a ruling concerning women. Say thou: “God gives you the ruling concerning them,” — and what is recited to you in the Writ concerning the fatherless women (to whom you give not what is prescribed for them, and yet desire to marry them) and concerning the oppressed among children; and that you stand up for equity for the fatherless.
