اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَى الَّذ۪ينَ ق۪يلَ لَهُمْ كُفُّٓوا اَيْدِيَكُمْ وَاَق۪يمُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَاٰتُوا الزَّكٰوةَۚ  فَلَمَّا كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقِتَالُ اِذَا فَر۪يقٌ مِنْهُمْ يَخْشَوْنَ النَّاسَ كَخَشْيَةِ اللّٰهِ اَوْ اَشَدَّ خَشْيَةًۚ وَقَالُوا رَبَّنَا لِمَ كَتَبْتَ عَلَيْنَا الْقِتَالَۚ  لَوْلَٓا اَخَّرْتَنَٓا اِلٰٓى اَجَلٍ قَر۪يبٍۜ  قُلْ مَتَاعُ الدُّنْيَا قَل۪يلٌۚ وَالْاٰخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِمَنِ اتَّقٰى وَلَا تُظْلَمُونَ فَت۪يلاً

Alam tara ila allatheena qeelalahum kuffoo aydiyakum waaqeemoo assalatawaatoo azzakata falamma kutibaAAalayhimu alqitalu itha fareequn minhum yakhshawnaannasa kakhashyati Allahi aw ashaddakhashyatan waqaloo rabbana lima katabta AAalaynaalqitala lawla akhkhartana ila ajalinqareebin qul mataAAu addunya qaleelun wal-akhiratukhayrun limani ittaqa wala tuthlamoonafateela

Hast thou not considered those to whom it was said: “Restrain your hands; and uphold the duty, and render the purity,” but when fighting is prescribed for them, then a faction among them fears men like the fear of God, or a stronger fear? And they said: “Our Lord: why hast Thou prescribed fighting for us? Oh, that Thou wouldst but delay us a little while!” Say thou: “Little is the enjoyment of the World”; and the Hereafter is better for him who is in prudent fear; and you will not be wronged a hair upon a date-stone.

Faqatil fee sabeeli Allahi latukallafu illa nafsaka waharridialmu/mineena AAasa Allahu an yakuffa ba/sa allatheenakafaroo wallahu ashaddu ba/san waashaddu tankeela

So fight thou in the cause of God; thou art not charged save with thyself. And rouse thou the believers: it may be that God will restrain the might of those who ignore warning; and God is stronger in might, and stronger in exemplary punishment.

سَتَجِدُونَ اٰخَر۪ينَ يُر۪يدُونَ اَنْ يَأْمَنُوكُمْ وَيَأْمَنُوا قَوْمَهُمْۜ كُلَّمَا رُدُّٓوا اِلَى الْفِتْنَةِ اُرْكِسُوا ف۪يهَاۚ فَاِنْ لَمْ يَعْتَزِلُوكُمْ وَيُلْقُٓوا اِلَيْكُمُ السَّلَمَ وَيَكُفُّٓوا اَيْدِيَهُمْ فَخُذُوهُمْ وَاقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ ثَقِفْتُمُوهُمْۜ وَاُو۬لٰٓئِكُمْ جَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَاناً مُب۪يناً۟

Satajidoona akhareena yureedoona anya/manookum waya/manoo qawmahum kulla ma ruddoo ilaalfitnati orkisoo feeha fa-in lam yaAAtazilookum wayulqooilaykumu assalama wayakuffoo aydiyahum fakhuthoohumwaqtuloohum haythu thaqiftumoohum waola-ikumjaAAalna lakum AAalayhim sultanan mubeena

You will find others desiring safety from you, and safety from their people; as often as they are turned back to the means of denial, they are turned over to it. And if they withdraw not from you and extend to you peace and restrain their hands, take them and kill them wheresoever you find them; and over those have We given you a clear authority.

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooothkuroo niAAmata Allahi AAalaykum ith hammaqawmun an yabsutoo ilaykum aydiyahum fakaffa aydiyahumAAankum wattaqoo Allaha waAAala Allahifalyatawakkali almu/minoon

O you who heed warning: remember the favour of God upon you when a people purposed to stretch out their hands against you, and He restrained their hands from you; and be in prudent fear of God; and in God then let the believers place their trust.

اِذْ قَالَ اللّٰهُ يَا ع۪يسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ اذْكُرْ نِعْمَت۪ي عَلَيْكَ وَعَلٰى وَالِدَتِكَۢ اِذْ اَيَّدْتُكَ بِرُوحِ الْقُدُسِ تُكَلِّمُ النَّاسَ فِي الْمَهْدِ وَكَهْلاًۚ وَاِذْ عَلَّمْتُكَ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَالتَّوْرٰيةَ وَالْاِنْج۪يلَۚ وَاِذْ تَخْلُقُ مِنَ الطّ۪ينِ كَـهَيْـَٔةِ الطَّيْرِ بِاِذْن۪ي فَتَنْفُخُ ف۪يهَا فَتَكُونُ طَيْراً بِاِذْن۪ي وَتُبْرِئُ الْاَكْمَهَ وَالْاَبْرَصَ بِاِذْن۪يۚ وَاِذْ تُخْرِجُ الْمَوْتٰى بِاِذْن۪يۚ وَاِذْ كَفَفْتُ بَن۪ٓي اِسْرَٓائ۪لَ عَنْكَ اِذْ جِئْتَهُمْ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ فَقَالَ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْهُمْ اِنْ هٰذَٓا اِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُب۪ينٌ

Ith qala Allahu yaAAeesa ibna maryama othkur niAAmatee AAalaykawaAAala walidatika ith ayyadtuka biroohialqudusi tukallimu annasa fee almahdi wakahlanwa-ith AAallamtuka alkitaba walhikmatawattawrata wal-injeela wa-ithtakhluqu mina atteeni kahay-ati attayribi-ithnee fatanfukhu feeha fatakoonu tayranbi-ithnee watubri-o al-akmaha wal-abrasabi-ithnee wa-ith tukhriju almawta bi-ithneewa-ith kafaftu banee isra-eela AAanka ithji/tahum bilbayyinati faqala allatheenakafaroo minhum in hatha illa sihrun mubeen

(When God will say: “O Jesus, son of Mary: remember thou My favour to thee and to thy mother: when I strengthened thee with the Spirit of Holiness, thou speaking to men in the cradle and in maturity; and when I taught thee the Writ and wisdom, and the Torah and the Gospel; and when thou didst create of clay the likeness of a bird by My leave, and blewest into it and it became a bird by My leave, and thou didst heal the blind and the leper by My leave; and when thou broughtest forth the dead by My leave; and when I restrained the children of Israel from thee when thou camest to them with clear signs”; then those who ignored warning among them said: “This is only obvious sorcery”;

اِنَّ عِدَّةَ الشُّهُورِ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْراً ف۪ي كِتَابِ اللّٰهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضَ مِنْهَٓا اَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌۜ ذٰلِكَ الدّ۪ينُ الْقَيِّمُ فَلَا تَظْلِمُوا ف۪يهِنَّ اَنْفُسَكُمْ وَقَاتِلُوا الْمُشْرِك۪ينَ كَٓافَّةً كَمَا يُقَاتِلُونَكُمْ كَٓافَّةًۜ وَاعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَ الْمُتَّق۪ينَ

Inna AAiddata ashshuhoori AAinda Allahiithna AAashara shahran fee kitabi Allahiyawma khalaqa assamawati wal-ardaminha arbaAAatun hurumun thalika addeenualqayyimu fala tathlimoo feehinna anfusakumwaqatiloo almushrikeena kaffatan kama yuqatiloonakumkaffatan waAAlamoo anna Allaha maAAaalmuttaqeen

The count of months is with God; twelve months were in the Writ of God the day He created the heavens and the earth; from it are four inviolable. That is the right doctrine, so wrong not your souls concerning them: — and fight the idolaters altogether as they fight you altogether, and know that God is with those of prudent fear —

Wama kana almu/minoonaliyanfiroo kaffatan falawla nafara min kullifirqatin minhum ta-ifatun liyatafaqqahoo fee addeeniwaliyunthiroo qawmahum itha rajaAAoo ilayhimlaAAallahum yahtharoon

And it is not for the believers to go forth all at once; and were it not that from every party among them there should go forth a number to gain knowledge in the doctrine, and to warn their people when they return to them, that they might beware[...].

لَهُ دَعْوَةُ الْحَقِّۜ وَالَّذ۪ينَ يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِه۪ لَا يَسْتَج۪يبُونَ لَهُمْ بِشَيْءٍ اِلَّا كَبَاسِطِ كَفَّيْهِ اِلَى الْمَٓاءِ لِيَبْلُغَ فَاهُ وَمَا هُوَ بِبَالِغِه۪ۜ وَمَا دُعَٓاءُ الْكَافِر۪ينَ اِلَّا ف۪ي ضَلَالٍ

Lahu daAAwatu alhaqqi wallatheenayadAAoona min doonihi la yastajeeboona lahum bishay-in illakabasiti kaffayhi ila alma-iliyablugha fahu wama huwa bibalighihi wamaduAAao alkafireena illa fee dalal

To Him belongs the call of truth; and those to whom they call, besides Him, answer them nothing save it be as one stretching forth his hands to water, that it might reach his mouth, but it reaches it not; and the supplication of the false claimers of guidance is only in error.

### 18. Surah Al-Kahf, Verse 42

Waoheeta bithamarihi faasbahayuqallibu kaffayhi AAala ma anfaqa feehawahiya khawiyatun AAala AAurooshihawayaqoolu ya laytanee lam oshrik birabbee ahada

And encompassed were his fruits; and he began to wring his hands for all that he had spent therein, but it was desolate and in ruins. And he said: “Would that I had not ascribed a partnership with my Lord to anyone!”

### 21. Surah Al-Anbiya, Verse 39

If those who ignore warning but knew the time when they will not restrain the Fire from their faces, nor from their backs, nor will they be helped!

### 34. Surah Saba, Verse 28

### 48. Surah Al-Fath, Verse 20

WaAAadakumu Allahu maghanimakatheeratan ta/khuthoonaha faAAajjala lakum hathihiwakaffa aydiya annasi AAankum walitakoona ayatanlilmu/mineena wayahdiyakum siratan mustaqeema

God has promised you many spoils you will take, and He has hastened this for you, — and He restrained the hands of men from you, that it might be a proof for the believers, and that He might guide you by a straight path —

### 48. Surah Al-Fath, Verse 24

Wahuwa allathee kaffa aydiyahumAAankum waaydiyakum AAanhum bibatni makkata min baAAdi anathfarakum AAalayhim wakana Allahubima taAAmaloona baseera

And He it is that restrained their hands from you, and your hands from them, in a belly of destruction after He made you victorious over them; and God is, of what you do, seeing.
