يَسْـَٔلُكَ اَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ اَنْ تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْهِمْ كِتَاباً مِنَ السَّمَٓاءِ فَقَدْ سَاَلُوا مُوسٰٓى اَكْبَرَ مِنْ ذٰلِكَ فَقَالُٓوا اَرِنَا اللّٰهَ جَهْرَةً فَاَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ بِظُلْمِهِمْۚ ثُمَّ اتَّخَذُوا الْعِجْلَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جَٓاءَتْهُمُ الْبَيِّنَاتُ فَعَفَوْنَا عَنْ ذٰلِكَۚ وَاٰتَيْنَا مُوسٰى سُلْطَاناً مُب۪يناً

Yas-aluka ahlu alkitabi an tunazzilaAAalayhim kitaban mina assama-i faqadsaaloo moosa akbara min thalika faqaloo arinaAllaha jahratan faakhathat-humu assaAAiqatubithulmihim thumma ittakhathoo alAAijla minbaAAdi ma jaat-humu albayyinatu faAAafawnaAAan thalika waatayna moosa sultananmubeena

The doctors of the Law ask thee to bring down upon them a Writ from the sky; and they asked of Moses greater than that; they said: “Show thou us God openly”; so the thunderbolt seized them for their injustice. Then took they up the calf after clear signs had come to them, and We pardoned that; and We gave Moses a clear authority.

Say thou: “Have you considered: if the punishment of God come to you unexpectedly or with warning, will there be destroyed save the wrongdoing people?”

And remember thou thy Lord within thy soul in humility and fear; and without publicity of speech, morning and evening; and be thou not among the heedless.

ضَرَبَ اللّٰهُ مَثَلاً عَبْداً مَمْلُوكاً لَا يَقْدِرُ عَلٰى شَيْءٍ وَمَنْ رَزَقْنَاهُ مِنَّا رِزْقاً حَسَناً فَهُوَ يُنْفِقُ مِنْهُ سِراًّ وَجَهْراًۜ هَلْ يَسْتَوُ۫نَۜ اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِۜ بَلْ اَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ

Daraba Allahu mathalan AAabdanmamlookan la yaqdiru AAala shay-in waman razaqnahuminna rizqan hasanan fahuwa yunfiqu minhu sirranwajahran hal yastawoona alhamdu lillahi balaktharuhum la yaAAlamoon

God strikes a similitude: — a slave owned, not having power over anything, and him whom We provided with goodly provision from Us and he spends thereof secretly and openly. Are they equal? Praise belongs to God! But most of them know not.

### 17. Surah Al-Isra, Verse 110

Quli odAAoo Allaha awi odAAoo arrahmanaayyan ma tadAAoo falahu al-asmao alhusnawala tajhar bisalatika wala tukhafitbiha wabtaghi bayna thalika sabeela

Say thou: “Call to God, or call to the Almighty; by whichever you call, to Him belong the most beautiful names.” And be thou not loud in thy duty, nor quiet therein, but follow thou a path in-between,

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola tarfaAAoo aswatakum fawqa sawti annabiyyiwala tajharoo lahu bilqawli kajahri baAAdikumlibaAAdin an tahbata aAAmalukumwaantum la tashAAuroon

O you who heed warning: raise not your voices above the voice of the Prophet, nor be loud in speech to him, as you are loud one to another lest your works be made vain while you perceive not.

### 49. Surah Al-Hujurat, Verse 2

### 67. Surah Al-Mulk, Verse 13
