We know that it grieves thee what they say; and they deny not thee, but the wrongdoers reject the proofs of God.

Allatheena ittakhathoodeenahum lahwan walaAAiban wagharrat-humu alhayatuaddunya falyawma nansahum kamanasoo liqaa yawmihim hatha wama kanoobi-ayatina yajhadoon

“Those who took their doctrine as play and diversion, and whom the life of this world deluded.” — “So this day do We forget them, even as they forgot the meeting of this their day, and as they rejected Our proofs.”

And those were ʿĀd; they rejected the proofs of their Lord, and opposed His messengers, and followed the command of every obstinate tyrant.

### 16. Surah An-Nahl, Verse 71

Wallahu faddala baAAdakumAAala baAAdin fee arrizqi fama allatheenafuddiloo biraddee rizqihim AAala mamalakat aymanuhum fahum feehi sawaon afabiniAAmatiAllahi yajhadoon

And God has favoured some of you over others in provision, but those favoured will not give over their provision to those whom their right hands possess, that they be equal therein; is it then the favour of God they reject?

### 27. Surah An-Naml, Verse 14

Wajahadoo biha wastayqanat-haanfusuhum thulman waAAuluwwan fanthurkayfa kana AAaqibatu almufsideen

And they rejected them, though their souls were convinced thereof, in injustice and arrogance. So see thou how was the final outcome of the workers of corruption.

### 29. Surah Al-'Ankabut, Verse 47

وَكَذٰلِكَ اَنْزَلْـنَٓا اِلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَۜ فَالَّذ۪ينَ اٰتَيْنَاهُمُ الْكِتَابَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِه۪ۚ وَمِنْ هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ مَنْ يُؤْمِنُ بِه۪ۜ وَمَا يَجْحَدُ بِاٰيَاتِنَٓا اِلَّا الْكَافِرُونَ

Wakathalika anzalna ilaykaalkitaba fallatheena ataynahumualkitaba yu/minoona bihi wamin haola-i manyu/minu bihi wama yajhadu bi-ayatinailla alkafiroon

And thus sent We down the Writ to thee. And those to whom We gave the Writ believe in it; and among those are some who believe in it. And none rejects Our proofs but the false claimers of guidance.

### 29. Surah Al-'Ankabut, Verse 49

Bal huwa ayatun bayyinatunfee sudoori allatheena ootoo alAAilma wamayajhadu bi-ayatina illa aththalimoon

The truth is, it is clear proofs in the breasts of those given knowledge. And none rejects Our proofs but the wrongdoers.

### 31. Surah Luqman, Verse 32

وَاِذَا غَشِيَهُمْ مَوْجٌ كَالظُّلَلِ دَعَوُا اللّٰهَ مُخْلِص۪ينَ لَهُ الدّ۪ينَۚ فَلَمَّا نَجّٰيهُمْ اِلَى الْبَرِّ فَمِنْهُمْ مُقْتَصِدٌۜوَمَا يَجْحَدُ بِاٰيَاتِنَٓا اِلَّا كُلُّ خَتَّارٍ كَفُورٍ

Wa-itha ghashiyahum mawjun kaththulalidaAAawoo Allaha mukhliseena lahu addeenafalamma najjahum ila albarri faminhum muqtasidunwama yajhadu bi-ayatina illakullu khattarin kafoor

And when a wave covers them like canopies they call to God, sincere to Him in doctrine; then when He delivers them to the land, some among them are lukewarm. And none rejects Our proofs but everyone treacherous and ungrateful.

### 41. Surah Fussilat, Verse 15

فَاَمَّا عَادٌ فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا فِي الْاَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَقَالُوا مَنْ اَشَدُّ مِنَّا قُوَّةًۜ  اَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ الَّذ۪ي خَلَقَهُمْ هُوَ اَشَدُّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةًۜ وَكَانُوا بِاٰيَاتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ

Faamma AAadun fastakbaroofee al-ardi bighayri alhaqqi waqaloo manashaddu minna quwwatan awa lam yaraw anna Allahaallathee khalaqahum huwa ashaddu minhum quwwatan wakanoobi-ayatina yajhadoon

Then as for ʿĀd: they had waxed proud in the land without cause, and they said: “Who is stronger than us in power?” Had they not considered that God who created them, He was stronger than them in power? And they rejected Our proofs.

### 41. Surah Fussilat, Verse 28

Thalika jazao aAAda-iAllahi annaru lahum feeha darualkhuldi jazaan bima kanoo bi-ayatinayajhadoon

That is the reward of the enemies of God: the Fire; they have therein the Abode of Eternity as reward because they rejected Our proofs.

وَلَقَدْ مَكَّنَّاهُمْ ف۪يمَٓا اِنْ مَكَّنَّاكُمْ ف۪يهِ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ سَمْعاً وَاَبْصَاراً وَاَفْـِٔدَةًۘ  فَمَٓا اَغْنٰى عَنْهُمْ سَمْعُهُمْ وَلَٓا اَبْصَارُهُمْ وَلَٓا اَفْـِٔدَتُهُمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ اِذْ  كَانُوا يَجْحَدُونَ بِاٰيَاتِ اللّٰهِ وَحَاقَ بِهِمْ مَا كَانُوا بِه۪ يَسْتَهْزِؤُ۫نَ۟

Walaqad makkannahum feema inmakkannakum feehi wajaAAalna lahum samAAan waabsaranwaaf-idatan fama aghna AAanhum samAAuhum walaabsaruhum wala af-idatuhum min shay-in ith kanooyajhadoona bi-ayati Allahi wahaqabihim ma kanoo bihi yastahzi-oon

And We had established them in that wherein We have not established you, and We gave them hearing and sight and hearts; but their hearing and sight and hearts availed them nothing when they rejected the proofs of God; and there surrounded them that whereat they mocked.
