Falamma fasala talootubiljunoodi qala inna Allaha mubtaleekumbinaharin faman shariba minhu falaysa minnee waman lam yatAAamhufa-innahu minnee illa mani ightarafa ghurfatan biyadihifashariboo minhu illa qaleelan minhum falamma jawazahuhuwa wallatheena amanoo maAAahu qaloola taqata lana alyawma bijalootawajunoodihi qala allatheena yathunnoonaannahum mulaqoo Allahi kam min fi-atin qaleelatinghalabat fi-atan katheeratan bi-ithni Allahi wallahumaAAa assabireen

Then when Saul set out with the forces, he said: “God will try you with a river, so whoso drinks thereof is not of me; and whoso tastes it not is of me save he who scoops up a handful with his hand.” But they drank thereof save a few of them. Then when he had crossed it, he and those who heeded warning with him, they said: “We have not power this day against Goliath and his forces.” Said those who knew that they should meet God: “How many a small host has overcome a mighty host by the leave of God! And God is with the patient.”

If God helps you, none can defeat you; but if He forsakes you, who is there who can help you after Him? And in God let the believers place their trust.

Falyuqatil fee sabeeli Allahiallatheena yashroona alhayata addunyabil-akhirati waman yuqatil fee sabeeli Allahifayuqtal aw yaghlib fasawfa nu/teehi ajran AAatheema

And let fight in the cause of God those who sell the life of this world for the Hereafter; and whoso fights in the cause of God, be he killed or victorious, We will bestow upon him a great reward.

Said two men of those who feared, whom God had favoured: “Enter upon them by the gate; for when you have entered by it, then will you be victorious; and in God place your trust, if you be believers.”

Inna allatheena kafaroo yunfiqoonaamwalahum liyasuddoo AAan sabeeli Allahifasayunfiqoonaha thumma takoonu AAalayhim hasratanthumma yughlaboona wallatheena kafaroo ilajahannama yuhsharoon

Those who ignore warning spend their wealth on turning away from the path of God. So will they spend it; then will it become a sorrow for them; then will they be defeated, and those who ignore warning will be gathered into Gehenna,

Wa-ith zayyana lahumu ashshaytanuaAAmalahum waqala la ghaliba lakumualyawma mina annasi wa-innee jarun lakumfalamma taraati alfi-atani nakasaAAala AAaqibayhi waqala innee baree-on minkum inneeara ma la tarawna innee akhafu Allahawallahu shadeedu alAAiqab

And when the satan made their deeds fair to them, and said: “None among men can defeat you this day, when I am at your side,” then when the two companies came within sight of one another, he turned on his heels and said: “I am quit of you; I see what you see not. I fear God”; and God is severe in retribution.

O Prophet: rouse thou the believers to fight: if there be of you twenty patient, they will defeat two hundred; and if there be of you a hundred, they will defeat a thousand of those who ignore warning, because they are people who understand not.

Now has God lightened for you — and He knows there is weakness in you — so if there be of you a hundred patient, they will defeat two hundred; and if there be of you a thousand, they will defeat two thousand, by the leave of God; and God is with the patient.

Waqala allathee ishtarahumin misra limraatihi akrimee mathwahu AAasaan yanfaAAana aw nattakhithahu waladan wakathalikamakkanna liyoosufa fee al-ardi walinuAAallimahu minta/weeli al-ahadeethi wallahu ghalibunAAala amrihi walakinna akthara annasila yaAAlamoon

And said he who bought him from Egypt, to his wife: “Be thou honourable in his dwelling; it may be that he will benefit us, or we will take him as a son.” And thus did We establish Joseph in the land, and that We might teach him the interpretation of narratives; and God prevails over His affair, but most men understand not.

### 18. Surah Al-Kahf, Verse 21

Wakathalika aAAtharnaAAalayhim liyaAAlamoo anna waAAda Allahi haqqunwaanna asaAAata la rayba feeha ithyatanazaAAoona baynahum amrahum faqaloo ibnooAAalayhim bunyanan rabbuhum aAAlamu bihim qala allatheenaghalaboo AAala amrihim lanattakhithanna AAalayhimmasjida

“And thus did He acquaint us with them: that they might know that the promise of God is true, and that the Hour — there is no doubt concerning it.” When they contended with one another about their affair, then they said: “Build over them a structure; their Lord best knows concerning them.” Those who prevailed over their affair said: “We will take for them a place of worship.”

### 21. Surah Al-Anbiya, Verse 44

Bal mattaAAna haola-iwaabaahum hatta talaAAalayhimu alAAumuru afala yarawna anna na/teeal-arda nanqusuha min atrafihaafahumu alghaliboon

But We gave these and their fathers enjoyment until life became long for them. Have they then not considered that We come to the earth, diminishing it from its extremities? Is it then they who will be the victors?

Said He: “We will strengthen thine arm by thy brother, and We will appoint for you authority so they reach you not. By Our proofs you and those who follow you will be the victors.”
