Wa-ith qultum ya moosalan nasbira AAala taAAamin wahidinfadAAu lana rabbaka yukhrij lana mimmatunbitu al-ardu min baqliha waqiththa-ihawafoomiha waAAadasiha wabasaliha qalaatastabdiloona allathee huwa adna billatheehuwa khayrun ihbitoo misran fa-inna lakum masaaltum waduribat AAalayhimu aththillatu walmaskanatuwabaoo bighadabin mina Allahi thalikabi-annahum kanoo yakfuroona bi-ayati Allahiwayaqtuloona annabiyyeena bighayri alhaqqi thalikabima AAasaw wakanoo yaAAtadoon

And when you said: “O Moses: we will not endure one food, so call thou to thy Lord for us that He bring forth for us of what the earth grows of its green herbs, and its cucumbers, and its garlic, and its lentils, and its onions.” He said: “Would you exchange for what is worse what is better? Get you down to Egypt, and you will have what you have asked.” And humiliation and wretchedness were pitched upon them; and they incurred wrath from God, for it is that they denied the proofs of God! And they killed the prophets without cause, for it is that they opposed and they exceeded all bounds!

Bi/sama ishtaraw bihi anfusahum anyakfuroo bima anzala Allahu baghyan an yunazzilaAllahu min fadlihi AAala man yashaomin AAibadihi fabaoo bighadabin AAalaghadabin walilkafireena AAathabun muheen

Evil is that for which they sold themselves, denying what God sent down, through sectarian zealotry, that God should send down of His bounty upon whom He wills of His servants. So they incurred wrath upon wrath; and for the false claimers of guidance is a humiliating punishment.

Duribat AAalayhimu aththillatuayna ma thuqifoo illa bihablin mina Allahiwahablin mina annasi wabaoo bighadabinmina Allahi waduribat AAalayhimu almaskanatu thalikabi-annahum kanoo yakfuroona bi-ayati Allahiwayaqtuloona al-anbiyaa bighayri haqqin thalikabima AAasaw wakanoo yaAAtadoon

Pitched upon them will be ignominy wherever they are found save for a rope from God and a rope from men. And they will incur wrath from God, and wretchedness will be pitched upon them, for it is that they denied the proofs of God! And they killed the prophets without cause, for it is that they opposed and exceeded all bounds!

Is then he who seeks the approval of God like one who incurs wrath from God, and whose shelter is Gehenna? And evil is the journey’s end.

### 7. Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 74

Wathkuroo ithjaAAalakum khulafaa min baAAdi AAadin wabawwaakumfee al-ardi tattakhithoona min suhooliha qusooranwatanhitoona aljibala buyootan fathkurooalaa Allahi wala taAAthaw fee al-ardimufsideen

“And remember when He made you successors after ʿĀd, and settled you in the earth; you make castles out of its plains and hew the mountains into houses. Then remember the favours of God and commit not evil in the earth, working corruption.”

Waman yuwallihim yawma-ithin duburahuilla mutaharrifan liqitalin aw mutahayyizanila fi-atin faqad baa bighadabin mina Allahiwama/wahu jahannamu wabi/sa almaseer

And whoso, that day, turns his back to them save as a manoeuvre for battle, or joining a company, he has incurred wrath from God; and his shelter is Gehenna; and evil is the journey’s end.

### 10. Surah Yunus, Verse 87

And We instructed Moses and his brother: “Settle your people in Egypt in houses, and make your houses a destination; and uphold the duty; and bear thou glad tidings to the believers.”

Walaqad bawwa/na banee isra-eelamubawwaa sidqin warazaqnahum mina attayyibatifama ikhtalafoo hatta jaahumualAAilmu inna rabbaka yaqdee baynahum yawma alqiyamatifeema kanoo feehi yakhtalifoon

And We settled the children of Israel in a goodly settlement, and provided them with good things; and they differed not until knowledge came to them. Thy Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that wherein they differed.

And thus We established Joseph in the land, to settle therein wheresoever he willed. We visit with Our mercy whom We will, and We cause not to be lost the reward of the doers of good.

### 16. Surah An-Nahl, Verse 41

Wallatheena hajaroofee Allahi min baAAdi ma thulimoolanubawwi-annahum fee addunya hasanatanwalaajru al-akhirati akbaru law kanoo yaAAlamoon

And those who have emigrated in the cause of God after they were wronged, We will settle them handsomely in the World: — and the reward of the Hereafter is greater, if they but knew —

### 22. Surah Al-Hajj, Verse 26

And when We settled for Abraham the position of the house: “Ascribe thou not a partnership with Me to anything; and purify thou My house for those who walk around, and those who stand, and the lowly, and the submitting.

### 29. Surah Al-'Ankabut, Verse 58

Wallatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati lanubawwi-annahummina aljannati ghurafan tajree min tahtiha al-anharukhalideena feeha niAAma ajru alAAamileen

And those who heed warning and do righteous deeds, We will settle them in high chambers of the Garden beneath which rivers flow, they abiding eternally therein. Excellent is the reward of those who act,

### 39. Surah Az-Zumar, Verse 74

Waqaloo alhamdu lillahiallathee sadaqana waAAdahu waawrathanaal-arda natabawwao mina aljannati haythu nashaofaniAAma ajru alAAamileen

And they will say: “Praise belongs to God who has fulfilled for us His promise and made us inherit the earth — we may settle in the Garden wheresoever we will!” And excellent is the reward of the workers!

### 59. Surah Al-Hashr, Verse 9

وَالَّذ۪ينَ تَبَوَّؤُ الدَّارَ وَالْا۪يمَانَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ يُحِبُّونَ مَنْ هَاجَرَ اِلَيْهِمْ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ ف۪ي صُدُورِهِمْ حَاجَةً مِمَّٓا اُو۫تُوا وَيُؤْثِرُونَ عَلٰٓى اَنْفُسِهِمْ وَلَوْ كَانَ بِهِمْ خَصَاصَةٌۜ وَمَنْ يُوقَ شُحَّ نَفْسِه۪ فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَۚ

Wallatheena tabawwaoo addarawal-eemana min qablihim yuhibboona man hajarailayhim wala yajidoona fee sudoorihim hajatanmimma ootoo wayu/thiroona AAala anfusihim walaw kanabihim khasasatun waman yooqa shuhha nafsihi faola-ikahumu almuflihoon

And those who settled in the home and the faith before them, love those who have emigrated to them, and they find in their breasts no need for what they were given, but give preference above themselves though they be in privation. And whoso is protected from the avarice of his soul, it is they who are the successful.
