And when Moses said to his people: “God commands you that you sacrifice a heifer,” they said: “Dost thou take us in mockery?” He said: “I seek refuge in God lest I be of the ignorant.”

They said: “Call thou to thy Lord for us, that He make plain to us what she is.” He said: “He says: ‘She is a heifer neither old nor young, middling between that,’ so do what you are commanded.”

قَالَ اِنَّهُ يَقُولُ اِنَّهَا بَقَرَةٌ لَا ذَلُولٌ تُث۪يرُ الْاَرْضَ وَلَا تَسْقِي الْحَرْثَۚ مُسَلَّمَةٌ لَا شِيَةَ ف۪يهَاۜ قَالُوا الْـٰٔنَ جِئْتَ بِالْحَقِّۜ فَذَبَحُوهَا وَمَا كَادُوا يَفْعَلُونَ۟

Qala innahu yaqoolu innahabaqaratun la thaloolun tutheeru al-arda walatasqee alhartha musallamatun la shiyata feehaqaloo al-ana ji/ta bilhaqqi fathabahoohawama kadoo yafAAaloon

He said: “He says: ‘She is a heifer neither broken to plough the earth nor to water the tilth, perfect, no blemish on her.’” They said: “Now hast thou brought the truth.” Then they sacrificed her, but they had hardly done it.

وَمِنَ الْاِبِلِ اثْنَيْنِ وَمِنَ الْبَقَرِ اثْنَيْنِۜ قُلْ آٰلذَّكَرَيْنِ حَرَّمَ اَمِ الْاُنْثَيَيْنِ اَمَّا اشْتَمَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ اَرْحَامُ الْاُنْثَيَيْنِۜ اَمْ كُنْتُمْ شُهَدَٓاءَ اِذْ وَصّٰيكُمُ اللّٰهُ بِهٰذَاۚ فَمَنْ اَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرٰى عَلَى اللّٰهِ كَذِباً لِيُضِلَّ النَّاسَ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِم۪ينَ۟

Wamina al-ibili ithnayni wamina albaqariithnayni qul aththakarayni harramaami alonthayayni amma ishtamalat AAalayhi arhamualonthayayni am kuntum shuhadaa ith wassakumuAllahu bihatha faman athlamu mimmaniiftara AAala Allahi kathiban liyudillaannasa bighayri AAilmin inna Allaha layahdee alqawma aththalimeen

“And of camels two and of oxen two––” Say thou: “Is it the two males He has forbidden or the two females? If what the wombs of the two females contain: — or if you were witnesses when God enjoined this upon you: — then who is more unjust than he who invents a lie about God, that he might lead people astray without knowledge? God guides not the wrongdoing people.”

وَعَلَى الَّذ۪ينَ هَادُوا حَرَّمْنَا كُلَّ ذ۪ي ظُفُرٍۚ وَمِنَ الْبَقَرِ وَالْغَنَمِ حَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ شُحُومَهُمَٓا اِلَّا مَا حَمَلَتْ ظُهُورُهُمَٓا اَوِ الْحَوَايَٓا اَوْ مَا اخْتَلَطَ بِعَظْمٍۜ ذٰلِكَ جَزَيْنَاهُمْ بِبَغْيِهِمْۘ وَاِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ

WaAAala allatheena hadooharramna kulla thee thufurinwamina albaqari walghanami harramnaAAalayhim shuhoomahuma illa ma hamalatthuhooruhuma awi alhawayaaw ma ikhtalata biAAathmin thalikajazaynahum bibaghyihim wa-inna lasadiqoon

And to those who hold to Judaism We made unlawful every animal with a claw; and of oxen and sheep We made unlawful to them the fat thereof save what their backs bear, or the entrails, or what is mixed with bone; that We rewarded them for their sectarian zealotry; and We are truthful.

Waqala almaliku innee arasabAAa baqaratin simanin ya/kuluhunna sabAAun AAijafunwasabAAa sunbulatin khudrin waokhara yabisatinya ayyuha almalao aftoonee fee ru/yaya inkuntum lirru/ya taAAburoon

And the King said: “I dreamed of seven fat cows, which seven lean were eating; and seven green ears of corn and others withered. O eminent ones: advise me concerning my dream, if you can interpret visions.”

Yoosufu ayyuha assiddeequaftina fee sabAAi baqaratin simaninya/kuluhunna sabAAun AAijafun wasabAAi sunbulatinkhudrin waokhara yabisatin laAAallee arjiAAuila annasi laAAallahum yaAAlamoon

“Joseph, O man of truth: advise thou us concerning the seven fat cows which seven lean were eating, and the seven green ears of corn and others withered, that I might return to the people, that they might know.”
