Their likeness is as the likeness of one who kindled a fire: — when it had illuminated what was round about him, God took away their light and left them in darkness; they do not see.

The lightning nigh snatches away their sight; whenever it gives them light, they walk therein; and when it darkens over them, they stand still. And had God willed, He would have taken away their hearing and their sight; God is over all things powerful.

وَلَتَجِدَنَّهُمْ اَحْرَصَ النَّاسِ عَلٰى حَيٰوةٍۚ وَمِنَ الَّذ۪ينَ اَشْرَكُوا يَوَدُّ اَحَدُهُمْ لَوْ يُعَمَّرُ اَلْفَ سَنَةٍۚ وَمَا هُوَ بِمُزَحْزِحِه۪ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ اَنْ يُعَمَّرَۜ وَاللّٰهُ بَص۪يرٌ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ۟

Walatajidannahum ahrasa annasiAAala hayatin wamina allatheenaashrakoo yawaddu ahaduhum law yuAAammaru alfa sanatin wamahuwa bimuzahzihihi mina alAAathabi anyuAAammara wallahu baseerun bimayaAAmaloon

And thou wilt find them the greediest of men for life. And of those who ascribe a partnership: one of them wishes to be granted life of a thousand years, but it will not remove him from the punishment were he to be granted life; and God sees what they do.

And uphold the duty, and render the purity; and what good you send ahead for your souls, you will find it with God; God sees what you do.

وَالْوَالِدَاتُ يُرْضِعْنَ اَوْلَادَهُنَّ حَوْلَيْنِ كَامِلَيْنِ لِمَنْ اَرَادَ اَنْ يُـتِمَّ الرَّضَاعَةَۜ وَعَلَى الْمَوْلُودِ لَهُ رِزْقُهُنَّ وَكِسْوَتُهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِۜ لَا تُكَلَّفُ نَفْسٌ اِلَّا وُسْعَهَاۚ لَا تُضَٓارَّ وَالِدَةٌ بِوَلَدِهَا وَلَا مَوْلُودٌ لَهُ بِوَلَدِه۪ وَعَلَى الْوَارِثِ مِثْلُ ذٰلِكَۚ فَاِنْ اَرَادَا فِصَالاً عَنْ تَرَاضٍ مِنْهُمَا وَتَشَاوُرٍ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِمَاۜ وَاِنْ اَرَدْتُمْ اَنْ تَسْتَرْضِعُٓوا اَوْلَادَكُمْ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ اِذَا سَلَّمْتُمْ مَٓا اٰتَيْتُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِۜ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَص۪يرٌ

Walwalidatu yurdiAAnaawladahunna hawlayni kamilayni liman aradaan yutimma arradaAAata waAAala almawloodilahu rizquhunna wakiswatuhunna bilmaAAroofi latukallafu nafsun illa wusAAaha la tudarrawalidatun biwaladiha wala mawloodun lahubiwaladihi waAAala alwarithi mithlu thalikafa-in arada fisalan AAan taradinminhuma watashawurin fala junahaAAalayhima wa-in aradtum an tastardiAAoo awladakumfala junaha AAalaykum itha sallamtum maataytum bilmaAAroofi wattaqoo AllahawaAAlamoo anna Allaha bima taAAmaloona baseer

And mothers shall suckle their children two complete years, for such as wish to complete the suckling. And upon the father is their provision and their clothing, according to what is fitting. No soul is burdened save to its capacity. A mother shall not be hurt by her child, nor a father by his child. And upon the heir is the like of that. And if they desire weaning by mutual consent and consultation between them, then they do no wrong. And if you desire to seek one to suckle your children, then you do no wrong when you deliver what you have brought according to what is fitting. And be in prudent fear of God, and know that God sees what you do.

وَاِنْ طَلَّقْتُمُوهُنَّ مِنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ تَمَسُّوهُنَّ وَقَدْ فَرَضْتُمْ لَهُنَّ فَر۪يضَةً فَنِصْفُ مَا فَرَضْتُمْ اِلَّٓا اَنْ يَعْفُونَ اَوْ يَعْفُوَا الَّذ۪ي بِيَدِه۪ عُقْدَةُ النِّكَاحِۜ وَاَنْ تَعْفُٓوا اَقْرَبُ لِلتَّقْوٰىۜ وَلَا تَنْسَوُا الْفَضْلَ بَيْنَكُمْۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَص۪يرٌ

Wa-in tallaqtumoohunna min qabli antamassoohunna waqad faradtum lahunna fareedatanfanisfu ma faradtum illa an yaAAfoonaaw yaAAfuwa allathee biyadihi AAuqdatu annikahiwaan taAAfoo aqrabu littaqwa wala tansawooalfadla baynakum inna Allaha bimataAAmaloona baseer

And if you divorce them before you have touched them and you have already appointed for them an obligation, then half of what you appointed unless they forgo it, or he in whose hand is the knot of marriage forgoes it; and that you forgo is nearer to prudent fear. And forget not bounty between you, God sees what you do.

وَمَثَلُ الَّذ۪ينَ يُنْفِقُونَ اَمْوَالَهُمُ ابْتِغَٓاءَ مَرْضَاتِ اللّٰهِ وَتَثْب۪يتاً مِنْ اَنْفُسِهِمْ كَمَثَلِ جَنَّةٍ بِرَبْوَةٍ اَصَابَهَا وَابِلٌ فَاٰتَتْ اُكُلَهَا ضِعْفَيْنِۚ فَاِنْ لَمْ يُصِبْهَا وَابِلٌ فَطَلٌّۜ وَاللّٰهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَص۪يرٌ

Wamathalu allatheena yunfiqoona amwalahumuibtighaa mardati Allahi watathbeetan minanfusihim kamathali jannatin birabwatin asabaha wabilunfaatat okulaha diAAfayni fa-in lam yusibhawabilun fatallun wallahu bimataAAmaloona baseer

And the likeness of those who spend their wealth seeking the pleasure of God and as a confirmation of their souls, is as the likeness of a garden on high ground: a downpour fell upon it, and it yielded double fruit; and if a downpour falls not upon it, then fine rain; and God sees what you do.

قَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ اٰيَةٌ ف۪ي فِئَتَيْنِ الْتَقَتَاۜ فِئَةٌ تُقَاتِلُ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ وَاُخْرٰى كَافِرَةٌ يَرَوْنَهُمْ مِثْلَيْهِمْ رَأْيَ الْعَيْنِۜ وَاللّٰهُ يُؤَيِّدُ بِنَصْرِه۪ مَنْ يَشَٓاءُۜ اِنَّ ف۪ي ذٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِاُو۬لِي الْاَبْصَارِ

Qad kana lakum ayatun feefi-atayni iltaqata fi-atun tuqatilu fee sabeeli Allahiwaokhra kafiratun yarawnahum mithlayhim ra/yaalAAayni wallahu yu-ayyidu binasrihi manyashao inna fee thalika laAAibratan li-olee al-absar

There had been a proof for you in the two hosts which met: one host fighting in the cause of God, and another denying; they saw them as twice their like by the sight of the eye. But God strengthens with His help whom He wills; in that is a lesson for those of vision.

قُلْ اَؤُ۬نَبِّئُكُمْ بِخَيْرٍ مِنْ ذٰلِكُمْۜ لِلَّذ۪ينَ اتَّقَوْا عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْر۪ي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهَارُ خَالِد۪ينَ ف۪يهَا وَاَزْوَاجٌ مُطَهَّرَةٌ وَرِضْوَانٌ مِنَ اللّٰهِۜ وَاللّٰهُ بَص۪يرٌ بِالْعِبَادِۚ

Qul aonabbi-okum bikhayrin min thalikumlillatheena ittaqaw AAinda rabbihim jannatun tajreemin tahtiha al-anharu khalideena feehawaazwajun mutahharatun waridwanunmina Allahi wallahu baseerun bilAAibad

Say thou: “Shall I inform you of better than that? For those who are in prudent fear, with their Lord are gardens beneath which rivers flow, they abiding eternally therein, and purified spouses, and approval from God”; and God sees the servants,

فَاِنْ حَٓاجُّوكَ فَقُلْ اَسْلَمْتُ وَجْهِيَ لِلّٰهِ وَمَنِ اتَّـبَعَنِۜ وَقُلْ لِلَّذ۪ينَ اُو۫تُوا الْكِتَابَ وَالْاُمِّيّ۪نَ ءَاَسْلَمْتُمْۜ فَاِنْ اَسْلَمُوا فَقَدِ اهْتَدَوْاۚ وَاِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَاِنَّمَا عَلَيْكَ الْبَلَاغُۜ وَاللّٰهُ بَص۪يرٌ بِالْعِبَادِ۟

Fa-in hajjooka faqul aslamtu wajhiyalillahi wamani ittabaAAani waqul lillatheena ootooalkitaba walommiyyeena aaslamtum fa-inaslamoo faqadi ihtadaw wa-in tawallaw fa-innama AAalaykaalbalaghu wallahu baseerun bilAAibad

And if they argue with thee, then say thou: “I have submitted my face to God, as have those who follow me.” And say thou to those given the Writ and to the unschooled: “Have you submitted?” And if they have submitted, then are they guided; but if they turn away, then upon thee is only the notification; and God sees the servants.

Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoola takoonoo kallatheena kafaroo waqalooli-ikhwanihim itha daraboo fee al-ardiaw kanoo ghuzzan law kanoo AAindana mamatoo wama qutiloo liyajAAala Allahu thalikahasratan fee quloobihim wallahu yuhyeewayumeetu wallahu bima taAAmaloona baseer

O you who heed warning: be not like those who ignore warning, and say of their brothers when they travel in the earth or are on an expedition: “Had they been with us, they would not have died or been killed,” that God might make that a sorrow in their hearts; for God gives life, and gives death; and God sees what you do.

Inna Allaha ya/murukum an tu-addooal-amanati ila ahliha wa-itha hakamtumbayna annasi an tahkumoo bilAAadliinna Allaha niAAimma yaAAithukum bihiinna Allaha kana sameeAAan baseera

God commands you that you deliver up trusts to their owners; and when you judge between men, that you judge with justice. Excellent is what God admonishes you to do; God is hearing and seeing.

Whoso desires the reward of the World: — then with God is the reward of the World and the Hereafter; and God is hearing and seeing.

Wahasiboo alla takoonafitnatun faAAamoo wasammoo thumma taba AllahuAAalayhim thumma AAamoo wasammoo katheerun minhum wallahubaseerun bima yaAAmaloon

And considered there would be no means of denial, so they became blind and deaf. Then turned God towards them; then became many among them blind and deaf; and God sees what they do.

Qul araaytum in akhatha AllahusamAAakum waabsarakum wakhatama AAala quloobikumman ilahun ghayru Allahi ya/teekum bihi onthurkayfa nusarrifu al-ayati thumma hum yasdifoon

Say thou: “Have you considered: if God takes away your hearing and your sight and seals your hearts, who is the god save God who will restore it to you?” See thou how We expound the proofs; then they turn away.

Qul la aqoolu lakum AAindee khaza-inuAllahi wala aAAlamu alghayba wala aqoolulakum innee malakun in attabiAAu illa ma yoohailayya qul hal yastawee al-aAAma walbaseeruafala tatafakkaroon

And We have created for Gehenna many among the domini and the servi: they have hearts wherewith they understand not; and they have eyes wherewith they see not; and they have ears wherewith they hear not. Those are like cattle; nay, — they are further astray — it is they who are the heedless.

Inna allatheena amanoo wahajaroowajahadoo bi-amwalihim waanfusihim fee sabeeli Allahiwallatheena awaw wanasaroo ola-ikabaAAduhum awliyao baAAdin wallatheenaamanoo walam yuhajiroo ma lakum min walayatihimmin shay-in hatta yuhajiroo wa-ini istansarookumfee addeeni faAAalaykumu annasru illaAAala qawmin baynakum wabaynahum meethaqun wallahubima taAAmaloona baseer

Those who heeded warning, and emigrated, and strove with their property and their lives in the cause of God, and those who gave shelter and helped: those are allies one of another. And those who heed warning but have not emigrated: you are not required to protect them from anything until they emigrate; and if they seek help from you within the doctrine, you are required to help save against a people between whom and you is an agreement; and God sees what you do.

Say thou: “Who provides for you from the heaven and the earth?” If He who owns the hearing and the sight, and He who brings forth the living from the dead and brings forth the dead from the living, and He who directs the matter — then will they say: “God” — then say thou: “Will you then not be in prudent fear!”

Qul man rabbu assamawatiwal-ardi quli Allahu qul afattakhathtummin doonihi awliyaa la yamlikoona li-anfusihimnafAAan wala darran qul hal yastawee al-aAAmawalbaseeru am hal tastawee aththulumatuwannooru am jaAAaloo lillahi shurakaakhalaqoo kakhalqihi fatashabaha alkhalqu AAalayhim quliAllahu khaliqu kulli shay-in wahuwa alwahidualqahhar

Say thou: “Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth?” Say thou: “God.” Say thou: “Have you then taken, besides Him, allies which have not power to do themselves benefit or harm?” Say thou: “Is the blind equal to the seeing? Or is darkness equal to the light?” If they have ascribed to God partners that created the like of His creation, then the creation appears the same to them. Say thou: “God is creator of all things, and He is the One, the Vanquishing.”

لَقَالُٓوا اِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتْ اَبْصَارُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَوْمٌ مَسْحُورُونَ۟

Laqaloo innama sukkirat absarunabal nahnu qawmun mashooroon

They would say: “Our sight is but intoxicated; nay, we are a people taken by sorcery.”

And We appointed the night and the day as two proofs; and We erase the proof of the night and make the proof of day sight-giving, that you might seek favour of your Lord, and that you might know the number of years and the reckoning; and everything have We set out and detailed with full explanation.

And there prevented Us from sending proofs only that the former peoples denied them. And We gave Thamūd the she-camel as a visible proof, but they wronged her. And We send the proofs only to put in dread.

Say thou: “God best knows how long they tarried.” To Him belongs the unseen of the heavens and the earth: how He sees it and how He hears! They have no ally besides Him; and He ascribes not a partnership in His judgment to anyone.

And drawn nigh has the true promise; and then the eyes of those who ignore warning will stare: “Woe is us! We had been in heedlessness of this. The truth is, we were wrongdoers.”

(Have they not travelled in the earth and had hearts with which to reason, or ears with which to hear? And it is not the eyes that are blind, but blind are the hearts which are in the breasts.

وَقُلْ لِلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ يَغْضُضْنَ مِنْ اَبْصَارِهِنَّ وَيَحْفَظْنَ فُرُوجَهُنَّ وَلَا يُبْد۪ينَ ز۪ينَتَهُنَّ اِلَّا مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَلْيَضْرِبْنَ بِخُمُرِهِنَّ عَلٰى جُيُوبِهِنَّۖ وَلَا يُبْد۪ينَ ز۪ينَتَهُنَّ اِلَّا لِبُعُولَتِهِنَّ اَوْ اٰبَٓائِهِنَّ اَوْ اٰبَٓاءِ بُعُولَتِهِنَّ اَوْ اَبْنَٓائِهِنَّ اَوْ اَبْنَٓاءِ بُعُولَتِهِنَّ اَوْ اِخْوَانِهِنَّ اَوْ بَن۪ٓي اِخْوَانِهِنَّ اَوْ بَن۪ٓي اَخَوَاتِهِنَّ اَوْ نِسَٓائِهِنَّ اَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ اَيْمَانُهُنَّ اَوِ التَّابِع۪ينَ غَيْرِ اُو۬لِي الْاِرْبَةِ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ اَوِ الطِّفْلِ الَّذ۪ينَ لَمْ يَظْهَرُوا عَلٰى عَوْرَاتِ النِّسَٓاءِۖ وَلَا يَضْرِبْنَ بِاَرْجُلِهِنَّ لِيُعْلَمَ مَا يُخْف۪ينَ مِنْ ز۪ينَتِهِنَّۜ وَتُوبُٓوا اِلَى اللّٰهِ جَم۪يعاً اَيُّهَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ

Waqul lilmu/minati yaghdudnamin absarihinna wayahfathnafuroojahunna wala yubdeena zeenatahunna illa mathahara minha walyadribnabikhumurihinna AAala juyoobihinna wala yubdeenazeenatahunna illa libuAAoolatihinna aw aba-ihinnaaw aba-i buAAoolatihinna aw abna-ihinna awabna-i buAAoolatihinna aw ikhwanihinna aw baneeikhwanihinna aw banee akhawatihinna aw nisa-ihinnaaw ma malakat aymanuhunna awi attabiAAeenaghayri olee al-irbati mina arrijali awi attifliallatheena lam yathharoo AAala AAawratiannisa-i wala yadribnabi-arjulihinna liyuAAlama ma yukhfeena min zeenatihinnawatooboo ila Allahi jameeAAan ayyuhaalmu/minoona laAAallakum tuflihoon

And say thou to the believing women, that they lower some of their sight, and preserve their chastity, and that they show not their adornment save that apparent of it, and that they draw their coverings over their bosoms and not reveal their adornment save to their husbands, or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands, or their sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or the sons of their brothers, or the sons of their sisters, or their women, or what their right hands possess, or male attendants who have not the resourcefulness of men, or the children not yet aware of a woman’s private parts. And let them not strike their feet to make known what they hide of their adornment. And turn to God altogether, O believers, that you might be successful.

Alam tara anna Allaha yuzjee sahabanthumma yu-allifu baynahu thumma yajAAaluhu rukaman fataraalwadqa yakhruju min khilalihi wayunazzilu mina assama-imin jibalin feeha min baradin fayuseebu bihiman yashao wayasrifuhu AAan man yashao yakadusana barqihi yathhabu bil-absar

Dost thou not see that God drives the clouds? Then He brings them together; then He makes them a mass, and thou seest the rain come forth from the midst of it. And He sends down from the sky, from mountains therein of hail, and He strikes therewith whom He wills, and turns away therefrom whom He wills. The brilliance of His lightning almost takes away the sight.

O you who heed warning: remember the favour of God upon you when there came to you forces, and We sent upon them a wind and forces you did not see; and God sees what you do.

And were God to take men for what they earn, He would not leave any creature upon its surface. But He delays them to a stated term. But when their term comes, then is God of His servants seeing.
