Inna fee khalqi assamawatiwal-ardi wakhtilafi allayli wannahariwalfulki allatee tajree fee albahri bimayanfaAAu annasa wama anzala Allahumina assama-i min ma-in faahyabihi al-arda baAAda mawtiha wabaththa feehamin kulli dabbatin watasreefi arriyahiwassahabi almusakhkhari bayna assama-iwal-ardi laayatin liqawminyaAAqiloon

In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, and the ship which runs in the sea with what benefits men, and what God sent down of water from the sky then gave life thereby to the earth after its death, and spread therein every creature, and in the circulation of the winds and the clouds made subject between the heaven and the earth are proofs for people who reason.

Made lawful for you is the game of the sea and the food thereof, as a provision for you and for those who travel; but forbidden to you is the game of the land so long as you are forbidden; and be in prudent fear of God to whom you will be gathered.

Ma jaAAala Allahu min baheeratinwala sa-ibatin wala waseelatin walahamin walakinna allatheena kafarooyaftaroona AAala Allahi alkathibawaaktharuhum la yaAAqiloon

God appointed not any baḥīrah or sā’ibah or waṣīlah or ḥām — but those who ignore warning invent lies about God; and most of them do not reason.

WaAAindahu mafatihu alghaybi layaAAlamuha illa huwa wayaAAlamu ma feealbarri walbahri wama tasqutu minwaraqatin illa yaAAlamuha wala habbatinfee thulumati al-ardi wala ratbinwala yabisin illa fee kitabin mubeen

And with Him are the keys of the Unseen; and none knows them but He. And He knows what is in the land and the sea; and not a leaf falls but He knows it; nor is there a grain in the darknesses of the earth, and nothing moist or dry, but is in a clear writ.

Wajawazna bibanee isra-eelaalbahra faataw AAala qawmin yaAAkufoona AAalaasnamin lahum qaloo ya moosaijAAal lana ilahan kama lahum alihatunqala innakum qawmun tajhaloon

And We passed the children of Israel through the sea; and they came upon a people devoted to idols which they had. They said: “O Moses: make thou for us a god, just as they have gods.” He said: “You are a people in ignorance.

Was-alhum AAani alqaryati allatee kanathadirata albahri ith yaAAdoona fee assabtiith ta/teehim heetanuhum yawma sabtihimshurraAAan wayawma la yasbitoona la ta/teehim kathalikanabloohum bima kanoo yafsuqoon

And ask thou them about the town that was by the sea, when they transgressed the Sabbath, when their fish came to them openly on the day of their Sabbath. But on the day they had no Sabbath, they came not to them. Thus did We try them, because they were perfidious.

Huwa allathee yusayyirukum feealbarri walbahri hatta ithakuntum fee alfulki wajarayna bihim bireehin tayyibatinwafarihoo biha jaat-ha reehunAAasifun wajaahumu almawju min kulli makaninwathannoo annahum oheeta bihimdaAAawoo Allaha mukhliseena lahu addeenala-in anjaytana min hathihi lanakoonanna mina ashshakireen

He it is that lets you travel in the earth and the sea; when you have boarded ships and sailed by them with a good breeze and exulted thereat–– A tempest wind came upon them, and the waves came on them from every side, and they thought they were encompassed therein; they called to God, sincere to Him in doctrine: “If Thou deliver us from this, we will be among the grateful!”

Wajawazna bibanee isra-eelaalbahra faatbaAAahum firAAawnu wajunooduhu baghyanwaAAadwan hatta itha adrakahu algharaqu qalaamantu annahu la ilaha illa allatheeamanat bihi banoo isra-eela waana minaalmuslimeen

And We brought the children of Israel across the sea; and Pharaoh followed them with his forces in sectarian zealotry and enmity. When the drowning had overtaken him, he said: “I believe there is no god save He in whom the children of Israel believe; and I am of those submitting.”

Allahu allathee khalaqa assamawatiwal-arda waanzala mina assama-i maanfaakhraja bihi mina aththamarati rizqan lakumwasakhkhara lakumu alfulka litajriya fee albahri bi-amrihiwasakhkhara lakumu al-anhar

God is He who created the heavens and the earth, and sent down from the sky water wherewith He brought forth some fruits as a provision for you; and He made subject for you the ship to run upon the sea by His command; and He made subject for you the rivers;

And He it is that made subject the sea, that you might eat therefrom fresh flesh, and bring forth therefrom ornaments which you wear — and thou seest the ships ploughing therein — and that you might seek of His bounty, and that you might be grateful.

But when affliction touches you upon the sea, strayed have those to whom you call save He. Then when He delivers you to the land, you turn away; and man is ungrateful.

We have honoured the children of Adam, and carried them on land and sea, and provided them with good things, and preferred them greatly above many of those We created.

Said he: “Hast thou considered? When we took shelter at the rock, then I forgot the fish — and there caused me to forget it only the satan, lest I should remember it — and it took its path into the sea, amazingly.”

“As for the boat: it belonged to poor people working on the sea, and I desired to damage it, for there was behind them a king taking every boat by force.

Dost thou not see that God made subject for you what is in the earth, and the ships run upon the sea by His command? And He holds back the sky lest it fall upon the earth save by His leave; God is to mankind kind and merciful.

Or like darkness in a fathomless sea: there covers it a wave, above which is a wave, above which are clouds: — darknesses one above another! — when he holds out his hand, he scarcely sees it. And he for whom God has made no light, there is for him no light.

And not alike are the two seas: one is fresh and sweet, delicious to drink, and one is salty and bitter. And from each you eat succulent flesh, and extract ornaments which you wear. And thou seest the ships ploughing therein, that you might seek of His bounty and that you might be grateful.
