- **Meaning:** To ascend/rise, go up, learn, come on, come towards anyone, start from, climb upon, reach, sprout, notice, look, seek, examine, expose, explain, appear, inform, occur, consider, know. tal'un - the spathe or sheath in which the flowers of the date palm are enclosed, also the fruit when it first appears, fruit, ranged dates. tuluu - rising. matla'un - twilight of rising (of sun). atla'a (vb. 4) - to make manifest to anyone, cause one to understand. ittala'a for itta'ala'a (vb. 8) - to mount up, penetrate. attala'a for a'attala'a - has he penetrated (here the hamzah of union waslah being omitted after the interrogative hamzah).

Ma kana Allahu liyatharaalmu/mineena AAala ma antum AAalayhi hattayameeza alkhabeetha mina attayyibi wama kanaAllahu liyutliAAakum AAala alghaybi walakinnaAllaha yajtabee min rusulihi man yashao faaminoobillahi warusulihi wa-in tu/minoo watattaqoofalakum ajrun AAatheem

God will not leave the believers in that which you are in until He distinguishes the bad from the good. And God will not apprise you of the Unseen; but God chooses of His messengers whom He wills, so believe in God and His messengers; and if you believe and are in prudent fear, for you is a great reward.

Fabima naqdihim meethaqahumlaAAannahum wajaAAalna quloobahum qasiyatanyuharrifoona alkalima AAan mawadiAAihi wanasoo haththanmimma thukkiroo bihi wala tazalu tattaliAAuAAala kha-inatin minhum illa qaleelan minhumfaAAfu AAanhum wasfah inna Allahayuhibbu almuhsineen

So for their violation of their agreement We cursed them and made their hearts hard. They twist words from their places, and have forgotten a portion of that they were reminded of. And thou wilt not cease to find treachery among them save a few among them; but pardon thou them, and forbear thou; God loves the doers of good.

Wahuwa allathee anzala mina assama-imaan faakhrajna bihi nabata kulli shay-infaakhrajna minhu khadiran nukhriju minhu habbanmutarakiban wamina annakhli min talAAihaqinwanun daniyatun wajannatin min aAAnabinwazzaytoona warrummana mushtabihanwaghayra mutashabihin onthuroo ilathamarihi itha athmara wayanAAihi inna fee thalikumlaayatin liqawmin yu/minoon

And He it is that sends down from the sky water; and We bring forth thereby the growth of all things; and We bring forth from it greenery, bringing forth from it grain heaped up; and from the date-palm, from its spathes, bunches of dates within reach; and gardens of grapevines and olives and pomegranates, similar yet different. Look upon the fruit thereof when it bears fruit and it ripens: in that are proofs for people who believe.

Watara ashshamsa itha talaAAattazawaru AAan kahfihim thata alyameeni wa-ithagharabat taqriduhum thata ashshimaliwahum fee fajwatin minhu thalika min ayatiAllahi man yahdi Allahu fahuwa almuhtadi waman yudlilfalan tajida lahu waliyyan murshida

(And thou seest the sun: when it rises it inclines away from their cave to the right; and when it sets, it passes away from them on the left — and they in the opening thereof! That is among the proofs of God; whom God guides, he is guided; and whom He sends astray, for him thou wilt find no guiding ally.

Watahsabuhum ayqathanwahum ruqoodun wanuqallibuhum thata alyameeni wathataashshimali wakalbuhum basitun thiraAAayhibilwaseedi lawi ittalaAAta AAalayhimlawallayta minhum firaran walamuli/ta minhum ruAAba

And thou thinkest them awake, when they are asleep; and We cause them to turn to the right and the left.) And their dog was stretching out its two paws on the threshold — hadst thou looked upon them, thou wouldst have turned away from them in flight and been filled with terror of them.

So be thou patient over what they say, and give thou glory with the praise of thy Lord before the rising of the sun, and before its setting. And some periods of the night give thou glory; and at the ends of the day, that thou mightest be satisfied.

And Pharaoh said: “O eminent ones: I know not that you have a god other than me. So kindle thou for me, O Hāmān, upon the clay, and make thou for me a tower, that I might look upon the god of Moses; and I think him of the liars.”

— The causes of the heavens — that I might look upon the God of Moses; but I think him a liar.” And thus was made fair to Pharaoh the evil of his deed, and he was turned away from the path; and the plan of Pharaoh was only in ruin.
