Qala innahu yaqoolu innahabaqaratun la thaloolun tutheeru al-arda walatasqee alhartha musallamatun la shiyata feehaqaloo al-ana ji/ta bilhaqqi fathabahoohawama kadoo yafAAaloon

He said: “He says: ‘She is a heifer neither broken to plough the earth nor to water the tilth, perfect, no blemish on her.’” They said: “Now hast thou brought the truth.” Then they sacrificed her, but they had hardly done it.

And when he turns away, he strives in the land working corruption therein and destroying tilth and progeny; and God loves not corruption.

“Your women are a tilth for you; so come to your tilth as you will, and send ahead for your souls; and be in prudent fear of God, and know that you will meet Him.” And bear thou glad tidings to the believers.

Zuyyina linnasi hubbuashshahawati mina annisa-i walbaneenawalqanateeri almuqantarati mina aththahabiwalfiddati walkhayli almusawwamati wal-anAAamiwalharthi thalika mataAAu alhayatiaddunya wallahu AAindahu husnualmaab

Made fair for men is the love of lusts — for women, and sons, and amassed fortunes of gold and silver, and branded horses, and cattle, and tilth: that is the provision of the life of this world — but God, with Him is the best journey’s end.

مَثَلُ مَا يُنْفِقُونَ ف۪ي هٰذِهِ الْحَيٰوةِ الدُّنْيَا كَمَثَلِ ر۪يحٍ ف۪يهَا صِرٌّ اَصَابَتْ حَرْثَ قَوْمٍ ظَلَمُٓوا اَنْفُسَهُمْ فَاَهْلَكَتْهُۜ وَمَا ظَلَمَهُمُ اللّٰهُ وَلٰكِنْ اَنْفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ

Mathalu ma yunfiqoona fee hathihialhayati addunya kamathali reehinfeeha sirrun asabat hartha qawmin thalamooanfusahum faahlakat-hu wama thalamahumu Allahuwalakin anfusahum yathlimoon

The likeness of what they spend in the life of this world is as the likeness of a wind wherein was biting cold: it befell the tilth of a people who wronged their souls and destroyed it; and God wronged them not, but they wronged themselves.

وَجَعَلُوا لِلّٰهِ مِمَّا ذَرَاَ مِنَ الْحَرْثِ وَالْاَنْعَامِ نَص۪يباً فَقَالُوا هٰذَا لِلّٰهِ بِزَعْمِهِمْ وَهٰذَا لِشُرَكَٓائِنَاۚ فَمَا كَانَ لِشُرَكَٓائِهِمْ فَلَا يَصِلُ اِلَى اللّٰهِۚ وَمَا كَانَ لِلّٰهِ فَهُوَ يَصِلُ اِلٰى شُرَكَٓائِهِمْۜ سَٓاءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ

WajaAAaloo lillahi mimma tharaamina alharthi wal-anAAami naseebanfaqaloo hatha lillahi bizaAAmihim wahathalishuraka-ina fama kana lishuraka-ihimfala yasilu ila Allahi wama kanalillahi fahuwa yasilu ila shuraka-ihimsaa ma yahkumoon

And they make for God, of what He creates of tilth and cattle, a portion; they say: “This is for God,” — according to their claim — “and this is for our partners”. And what is for their partners, it does not reach God; and what is for God, it reaches their partners. Evil is what they judge.

وَقَالُوا هٰذِه۪ٓ اَنْعَامٌ وَحَرْثٌ حِجْرٌۘ لَا يَطْعَمُهَٓا اِلَّا مَنْ نَشَٓاءُ بِزَعْمِهِمْ وَاَنْعَامٌ حُرِّمَتْ ظُهُورُهَا وَاَنْعَامٌ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ اسْمَ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْهَا افْتِرَٓاءً عَلَيْهِۜ سَيَجْز۪يهِمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَفْتَرُونَ

Waqaloo hathihi anAAamunwaharthun hijrun la yatAAamuhailla man nashao bizaAAmihim waanAAamun hurrimatthuhooruha waanAAamun la yathkuroonaisma Allahi AAalayha iftiraan AAalayhisayajzeehim bima kanoo yaftaroon

And they say: “These cattle and tilth are taboo; none is to eat them save whom we will,” — according to their claim — “and cattle whose backs are made unlawful,” and cattle over which they remember not the name of God, as an invention against Him; He will requite them for what they invented.

And David and Solomon: when they passed judgment concerning the tilth, when the sheep of the people had strayed and pastured therein; and We were witnesses to their judgment.

### 42. Surah Ash-Shuraa, Verse 20

Whoso desires the harvest of the Hereafter, We increase him in his harvest. And whoso desires the harvest of the World, We give him thereof — and he has no portion in the Hereafter.
