Qul la aqoolu lakum AAindee khaza-inuAllahi wala aAAlamu alghayba wala aqoolulakum innee malakun in attabiAAu illa ma yoohailayya qul hal yastawee al-aAAma walbaseeruafala tatafakkaroon

Say thou: “I say not to you: ‘I possess the treasuries of God,’ or: ‘I know the Unseen,’ nor do I say to you: ‘I am an angel.’ I follow only what is revealed to me.” Say thou: “Are the blind and the seeing equal?” Will you then not take thought!

Qala ya qawmi araaytum inkuntu AAala bayyinatin min rabbee waataneerahmatan min AAindihi faAAummiyat AAalaykum anulzimukumoohawaantum laha karihoon

He said: “O my people: have you considered: if I be upon clear evidence from my Lord, and there has come to me mercy from Him, but made obscure to you: should we compel you to it when you are averse to it?”

Qul man rabbu assamawatiwal-ardi quli Allahu qul afattakhathtummin doonihi awliyaa la yamlikoona li-anfusihimnafAAan wala darran qul hal yastawee al-aAAmawalbaseeru am hal tastawee aththulumatuwannooru am jaAAaloo lillahi shurakaakhalaqoo kakhalqihi fatashabaha alkhalqu AAalayhim quliAllahu khaliqu kulli shay-in wahuwa alwahidualqahhar

Say thou: “Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth?” Say thou: “God.” Say thou: “Have you then taken, besides Him, allies which have not power to do themselves benefit or harm?” Say thou: “Is the blind equal to the seeing? Or is darkness equal to the light?” If they have ascribed to God partners that created the like of His creation, then the creation appears the same to them. Say thou: “God is creator of all things, and He is the One, the Vanquishing.”

Waman yahdi Allahu fahuwa almuhtadiwaman yudlil falan tajida lahum awliyaa min doonihiwanahshuruhum yawma alqiyamati AAalawujoohihim AAumyan wabukman wasumman ma/wahumjahannamu kullama khabat zidnahum saAAeera

And whom God guides, he is guided; and whom He sends astray, for them thou wilt find no allies besides Him. And We will gather them on the Day of Resurrection on their faces — blind and dumb and deaf — their shelter is Gehenna; whenever it subsides, We will increase for them an inferno.

Afalam yaseeroo fee al-ardi fatakoonalahum quloobun yaAAqiloona biha aw athanunyasmaAAoona biha fa-innaha la taAAmaal-absaru walakin taAAma alquloobu allateefee assudoor

(Have they not travelled in the earth and had hearts with which to reason, or ears with which to hear? And it is not the eyes that are blind, but blind are the hearts which are in the breasts.

لَيْسَ عَلَى الْاَعْمٰى حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلَى الْاَعْرَجِ حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلَى الْمَر۪يضِ حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلٰٓى اَنْفُسِكُمْ اَنْ تَأْكُلُوا مِنْ بُيُوتِكُمْ اَوْ بُيُوتِ اٰبَٓائِكُمْ اَوْ بُيُوتِ اُمَّهَاتِكُمْ اَوْ بُيُوتِ اِخْوَانِكُمْ اَوْ بُيُوتِ اَخَوَاتِكُمْ اَوْ بُيُوتِ اَعْمَامِكُمْ اَوْ بُيُوتِ عَمَّاتِكُمْ اَوْ بُيُوتِ اَخْوَالِكُمْ اَوْ بُيُوتِ خَالَاتِكُمْ اَوْ مَا مَلَكْتُمْ مَفَاتِحَهُٓ اَوْ صَد۪يقِكُمْۜ لَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ اَنْ تَأْكُلُوا جَم۪يعاً اَوْ اَشْتَاتاًۜ فَاِذَا دَخَلْتُمْ بُيُوتاً فَسَلِّمُوا عَلٰٓى اَنْفُسِكُمْ تَحِيَّةً مِنْ عِنْدِ اللّٰهِ مُبَارَكَةً طَيِّبَةًۜ كَذٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللّٰهُ لَكُمُ الْاٰيَاتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ۟

Laysa AAala al-aAAma harajunwala AAala al-aAAraji harajun walaAAala almareedi harajun wala AAalaanfusikum an ta/kuloo min buyootikum aw buyooti aba-ikumaw buyooti ommahatikum aw buyooti ikhwanikum awbuyooti akhawatikum aw buyooti aAAmamikum awbuyooti AAammatikum aw buyooti akhwalikum awbuyooti khalatikum aw ma malaktum mafatihahuaw sadeeqikum laysa AAalaykum junahun an ta/kuloojameeAAan aw ashtatan fa-itha dakhaltum buyootanfasallimoo AAala anfusikum tahiyyatan min AAindiAllahi mubarakatan tayyibatan kathalikayubayyinu Allahu lakumu al-ayati laAAallakumtaAAqiloon

No blame is there upon the blind, nor any blame upon the lame, nor any blame upon the sick, nor upon yourselves, that you eat of your houses, or the houses of your fathers, or the houses of your mothers, or the houses of your brothers, or the houses of your sisters, or the houses of your paternal uncles, or the houses of your paternal aunts, or the houses of your maternal uncles, or the houses of your maternal aunts, or that whereof you hold the keys, or of your friend; you do no wrong to eat together or separately. But when you enter houses, greet one another with a greeting from God, blessed and good. Thus God makes plain to you the proofs, that you might use reason.

The truth is, their knowledge fails concerning the Hereafter. The truth is, they are in doubt about it. The truth is, they are blind to it.

And thou wilt not guide the blind out of their error. Thou wilt only make hear him who believes in Our proofs, so they are submitting.

وَمَٓا اَنْـتَ بِهَادِ الْعُمْيِ عَنْ ضَلَالَتِهِمْۜ اِنْ تُسْمِعُ اِلَّا مَنْ يُؤْمِنُ بِاٰيَاتِنَا فَهُمْ مُسْلِمُونَ۟

Wama anta bihadi alAAumyi AAandalalatihim in tusmiAAu illa man yu/minu bi-ayatinafahum muslimoon

And thou wilt not guide the blind out of their error. Thou wilt only make hear him who believes in Our proofs, so they are submitting.

And as for Thamūd: We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance, so the thunderbolt of the punishment of humiliation seized them for what they earned.

Walaw jaAAalnahu qur-ananaAAjamiyyan laqaloo lawla fussilat ayatuhuaaAAjamiyyun waAAarabiyyun qul huwa lillatheena amanoohudan washifaon wallatheena layu/minoona fee athanihim waqrun wahuwa AAalayhim AAaman ola-ikayunadawna min makanin baAAeed

And had We made it a recitation in a foreign tongue, they would have said: “Oh, that its proofs were but set out and detailed — a foreign tongue and an Arab!” Say thou: “It is for those who heed warning a guidance and a healing”; but those who do not believe: in their ears is deafness, and it is for them blindness; those: they are called from a far place.

### 47. Surah Muhammad, Verse 23

Laysa AAala al-aAAma harajunwala AAala al-aAAraji harajun walaAAala almareedi harajun waman yutiAAiAllaha warasoolahu yudkhilhu jannatin tajree min tahtihaal-anharu waman yatawalla yuAAaththibhu AAathabanaleema

There is no blame upon the blind, nor is there blame upon the lame, nor is there blame upon the sick. And whoso obeys God and His messenger, him will He make enter gardens beneath which rivers flow; but whoso turns away, him will He punish with a painful punishment.
