Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 26 - **Form in this verse:** فَيَعْلَمُونَ — fayaʿlamūna · "[thus] they will know" - **Grammar:** verb · 3rd person, masculine, plural · present tense اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يَسْتَحْـي۪ٓ اَنْ يَضْرِبَ مَثَلاً مَا بَعُوضَةً فَمَا فَوْقَهَاۜ فَاَمَّا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا فَيَعْلَمُونَ اَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْۚ وَاَمَّا الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا فَيَقُولُونَ مَاذَٓا اَرَادَ اللّٰهُ بِهٰذَا مَثَلاًۢ يُضِلُّ بِه۪ كَث۪يراً وَيَهْد۪ي بِه۪ كَث۪يراًۜ وَمَا يُضِلُّ بِه۪ٓ اِلَّا الْفَاسِق۪ينَۙ Inna Allaha la yastahyeean yadriba mathalan ma baAAoodatan famafawqaha faamma allatheena amanoofayaAAlamoona annahu alhaqqu min rabbihim waammaallatheena kafaroo fayaqooloona matha aradaAllahu bihatha mathalan yudillu bihikatheeran wayahdee bihi katheeran wama yudillu bihiilla alfasiqeen God is not ashamed to strike a similitude, be it of a gnat or of what is above it. Then as for those who heed warning: they know that it is the truth from their Lord; and as for those who ignore warning: they say: “What means God by this similitude?” He leads astray many thereby, and He guides many thereby; and He leads astray thereby only the perfidious: _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-26.md_ ### 2. And they taught no one until they had said: “We are but a means of denial, so deny thou not.” Then from them they learn that by which they cause division between a man and his wife; but they harm no one thereby save by the leave of God. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 106 - **Form in this verse:** تَعْلَمْ — taʿlam · "you know" - **Grammar:** verb · 2nd person, masculine, singular · present tense مَا نَنْسَخْ مِنْ اٰيَةٍ اَوْ نُنْسِهَا نَأْتِ بِخَيْرٍ مِنْهَٓا اَوْ مِثْلِهَاۜ اَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَد۪يرٌ Ma nansakh min ayatin awnunsiha na/ti bikhayrin minha aw mithlihaalam taAAlam anna Allaha AAala kulli shay-in qadeer What proof We abolish or cause to be forgotten, We bring one better than it or the like thereof; knowest thou not that God is over all things powerful? _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-106.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 107 - **Form in this verse:** تَعْلَمْ — taʿlam · "you know" - **Grammar:** verb · 2nd person, masculine, singular · present tense اَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِۜ وَمَا لَكُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللّٰهِ مِنْ وَلِيٍّ وَلَا نَص۪يرٍ Alam taAAlam anna Allaha lahu mulkuassamawati wal-ardi wamalakum min dooni Allahi min waliyyin wala naseer Knowest thou not that God, to Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth? Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 113 - **Form in this verse:** يَعْلَمُونَ — yaʿlamūna · "know" - **Grammar:** verb · 3rd person, masculine, plural · present tense وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ لَيْسَتِ النَّصَارٰى عَلٰى شَيْءٍۖ وَقَالَتِ النَّصَارٰى لَيْسَتِ الْيَهُودُ عَلٰى شَيْءٍۙ وَهُمْ يَتْلُونَ الْكِتَابَۜ كَذٰلِكَ قَالَ الَّذ۪ينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ مِثْلَ قَوْلِهِمْۚ فَاللّٰهُ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِ ف۪يمَا كَانُوا ف۪يهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ Waqalati alyahoodu laysati annasaraAAala shay-in waqalati annasaralaysati alyahoodu AAala shay-in wahum yatloona alkitabakathalika qala allatheena layaAAlamoona mithla qawlihim fallahu yahkumubaynahum yawma alqiyamati feema kanoo feehiyakhtalifoon And the Rabbinic Jews say: “The Christians have nothing to stand upon,” and the Christians say: “The Rabbinic Jews have nothing to stand upon,” when they read the Writ; thus say those who know not likewise. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 115 - **Form in this verse:** عَلِيمٌۭ — ʿalīmun · "All-Knowing" - **Grammar:** adjective · masculine, singular · nominative case · indefinite وَلِلّٰهِ الْمَشْرِقُ وَالْمَغْرِبُ فَاَيْنَمَا تُوَلُّوا فَثَمَّ وَجْهُ اللّٰهِۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ وَاسِعٌ عَل۪يمٌ Walillahi almashriqu walmaghribufaaynama tuwalloo fathamma wajhu Allahi inna AllahawasiAAun AAaleem And to God belong the East and the West: wheresoever you turn, there is the face of God; God is encompassing and knowing. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-115.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 118 - **Form in this verse:** يَعْلَمُونَ — yaʿlamūna · "know" - **Grammar:** verb · 3rd person, masculine, plural · present tense وَقَالَ الَّذ۪ينَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ لَوْلَا يُكَلِّمُنَا اللّٰهُ اَوْ تَأْت۪ينَٓا اٰيَةٌۜ كَذٰلِكَ قَالَ الَّذ۪ينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ مِثْلَ قَوْلِهِمْۜ تَشَابَهَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْۜ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا الْاٰيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ Waqala allatheena layaAAlamoona lawla yukallimuna Allahu awta/teena ayatun kathalika qala allatheenamin qablihim mithla qawlihim tashabahat quloobuhum qadbayyanna al-ayati liqawmin yooqinoon And those who know not say: “Oh, that God would but speak to us, or a proof but come to us!” Thus said those before them likewise; their hearts are similar. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 143 - **Form in this verse:** لِنَعْلَمَ — linaʿlama · "that We make evident" - **Grammar:** verb · 1st person, plural · present tense وَكَذٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَاكُمْ اُمَّةً وَسَطاً لِتَكُونُوا شُهَدَٓاءَ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَيَكُونَ الرَّسُولُ عَلَيْكُمْ شَه۪يداًۜ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا الْقِبْلَةَ الَّت۪ي كُنْتَ عَلَيْهَٓا اِلَّا لِنَعْلَمَ مَنْ يَتَّبِـعُ الرَّسُولَ مِمَّنْ يَنْقَلِبُ عَلٰى عَقِبَيْهِۜ وَاِنْ كَانَتْ لَكَب۪يرَةً اِلَّا عَلَى الَّذ۪ينَ هَدَى اللّٰهُۜ وَمَا كَانَ اللّٰهُ لِيُض۪يعَ ا۪يمَانَكُمْۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ بِالنَّاسِ لَرَؤُ۫فٌ رَح۪يمٌ Wakathalika jaAAalnakumommatan wasatan litakoonoo shuhadaa AAala annasiwayakoona arrasoolu AAalaykum shaheedan wamajaAAalna alqiblata allatee kunta AAalayha illalinaAAlama man yattabiAAu arrasoola mimman yanqalibu AAalaAAaqibayhi wa-in kanat lakabeeratan illa AAalaallatheena hada Allahu wama kanaAllahu liyudeeAAa eemanakum inna Allahabinnasi laraoofun raheem And thus We made you an intermediary community that you might be witnesses to mankind, and that the Messenger might be a witness to you. And We made not the course which thou wast on save that We might know him who follows the Messenger from him who turns on his heels. And it is hard save for those whom God has guided. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 144 - **Form in this verse:** لَيَعْلَمُونَ — layaʿlamūna · "surely know" - **Grammar:** verb · 3rd person, masculine, plural · present tense قَدْ نَرٰى تَقَلُّبَ وَجْهِكَ فِي السَّمَٓاءِۚ فَلَنُوَلِّيَنَّكَ قِبْلَةً تَرْضٰيهَاۖ فَوَلِّ وَجْهَكَ شَطْرَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِۜ وَحَيْثُ مَا كُنْتُمْ فَوَلُّوا وُجُوهَكُمْ شَطْرَهُۜ وَاِنَّ الَّذ۪ينَ اُو۫تُوا الْكِتَابَ لَيَعْلَمُونَ اَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْۜ وَمَا اللّٰهُ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ Qad nara taqalluba wajhika fee assama-ifalanuwalliyannaka qiblatan tardaha fawalli wajhakashatra almasjidi alharami wahaythu makuntum fawalloo wujoohakum shatrahu wa-inna allatheenaootoo alkitaba layaAAlamoona annahu alhaqqu minrabbihim wama Allahu bighafilin AAammayaAAmaloon We have seen the turning of thy face towards the sky, and We will turn thee towards a course that will satisfy thee. So direct thou thy face towards the inviolable place of worship. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 184 - **Form in this verse:** تَعْلَمُونَ — taʿlamūna · "know" - **Grammar:** verb · 2nd person, masculine, plural · present tense اَيَّاماً مَعْدُودَاتٍۜ فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ مَر۪يضاً اَوْ عَلٰى سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ اَيَّامٍ اُخَرَۜ وَعَلَى الَّذ۪ينَ يُط۪يقُونَهُ فِدْيَةٌ طَعَامُ مِسْك۪ينٍۜ فَمَنْ تَطَوَّعَ خَيْراً فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَهُۜ وَاَنْ تَصُومُوا خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ Ayyaman maAAdoodatin faman kanaminkum mareedan aw AAala safarin faAAiddatun minayyamin okhara waAAala allatheena yuteeqoonahufidyatun taAAamu miskeenin faman tatawwaAAakhayran fahuwa khayrun lahu waan tasoomoo khayrun lakum inkuntum taAAlamoon For days numbered. And whoso among you is sick or on a journey: then a number of other days. And for those who are able to do it is a redemption: feeding a needy person. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 187 - **Form in this verse:** عَلِمَ — ʿalima · "Knows" - **Grammar:** verb · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense اُحِلَّ لَكُمْ لَيْلَةَ الصِّيَامِ الرَّفَثُ اِلٰى نِسَٓائِكُمْۜ هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ لَكُمْ وَاَنْتُمْ لِبَاسٌ لَهُنَّۜ عَلِمَ اللّٰهُ اَنَّكُمْ كُنْتُمْ تَخْتَانُونَ اَنْفُسَكُمْ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَعَفَا عَنْكُمْۚ فَالْـٰٔنَ بَاشِرُوهُنَّ وَابْتَغُوا مَا كَتَبَ اللّٰهُ لَكُمْۖ وَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتّٰى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمُ الْخَيْطُ الْاَبْيَضُ مِنَ الْخَيْطِ الْاَسْوَدِ مِنَ الْفَجْرِۖ ثُمَّ اَتِمُّوا الصِّيَامَ اِلَى الَّيْلِۚ وَلَا تُبَاشِرُوهُنَّ وَاَنْتُمْ عَاكِفُونَۙ فِي الْمَسَاجِدِۜ تِلْكَ حُدُودُ اللّٰهِ فَلَا تَقْرَبُوهَاۜ كَذٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللّٰهُ اٰيَاتِه۪ لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ Ohilla lakum laylata assiyamiarrafathu ila nisa-ikum hunna libasunlakum waantum libasun lahunna AAalima Allahuannakum kuntum takhtanoona anfusakum fatabaAAalaykum waAAafa AAankum fal-ana bashiroohunnawabtaghoo ma kataba Allahu lakum wakuloo washraboohatta yatabayyana lakumu alkhaytu al-abyadumina alkhayti al-aswadi mina alfajri thumma atimmoo assiyamaila allayli wala tubashiroohunna waantum AAakifoonafee almasajidi tilka hudoodu Allahi falataqrabooha kathalika yubayyinu Allahu ayatihilinnasi laAAallahum yattaqoon It is made lawful for you on the night of the fast to go in unto your women. They are a covering for you, and you are a covering for them. God knows that you deceived yourselves, so He turned towards you and pardoned you; so now lie with them and seek what God has prescribed for you. And eat and drink until clear to you be the white thread from the black thread of the dawn. Then complete the fast until night. And lie with them not when you remain in the places of worship. Those are the limits of God, so approach them not. Thus does God make plain His proofs to men, that they might be in prudent fear. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-187.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 188 - **Form in this verse:** تَعْلَمُونَ — taʿlamūna · "know" - **Grammar:** verb · 2nd person, masculine, plural · present tense وَلَا تَأْكُلُٓوا اَمْوَالَكُمْ بَيْنَكُمْ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَتُدْلُوا بِهَٓا اِلَى الْحُكَّامِ لِتَأْكُلُوا فَر۪يقاً مِنْ اَمْوَالِ النَّاسِ بِالْاِثْمِ وَاَنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ۟ Wala ta/kuloo amwalakumbaynakum bilbatili watudloo biha ilaalhukkami lita/kuloo fareeqan min amwali annasibil-ithmi waantum taAAlamoon And consume not your wealth among yourselves in vanity, neither offer it to the authorities that you might consume part of the property of the people through sin, when you know. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-188.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 194 - **Form in this verse:** وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ — wa-iʿ'lamū · "and know" - **Grammar:** verb · 2nd person, masculine, plural · imperative mood اَلشَّهْرُ الْحَرَامُ بِالشَّهْرِ الْحَرَامِ وَالْحُرُمَاتُ قِصَاصٌۜ فَمَنِ اعْتَدٰى عَلَيْكُمْ فَاعْتَدُوا عَلَيْهِ بِمِثْلِ مَا اعْتَدٰى عَلَيْكُمْۖ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَ الْمُتَّق۪ينَ Ashshahru alharamu bishshahrialharami walhurumatu qisasunfamani iAAtada AAalaykum faAAtadoo AAalayhibimithli ma iAAtada AAalaykum wattaqoo AllahawaAAlamoo anna Allaha maAAa almuttaqeen The inviolable month is for the inviolable month, and the inviolable deeds are just requital: whoso transgressed against you, transgress against him just as he transgressed against you. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 196 - **Form in this verse:** وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ — wa-iʿ'lamū · "and know" - **Grammar:** verb · 2nd person, masculine, plural · imperative mood وَاَتِمُّوا الْحَجَّ وَالْعُمْرَةَ لِلّٰهِۜ فَاِنْ اُحْصِرْتُمْ فَمَا اسْتَيْسَرَ مِنَ الْهَدْيِۚ وَلَا تَحْلِقُوا رُؤُ۫سَكُمْ حَتّٰى يَبْلُغَ الْهَدْيُ مَحِلَّهُۜ فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ مَر۪يضاً اَوْ بِه۪ٓ اَذًى مِنْ رَأْسِه۪ فَفِدْيَةٌ مِنْ صِيَامٍ اَوْ صَدَقَةٍ اَوْ نُسُكٍۚ فَاِذَٓا اَمِنْتُمْ۠ فَمَنْ تَمَتَّعَ بِالْعُمْرَةِ اِلَى الْحَجِّ فَمَا اسْتَيْسَرَ مِنَ الْهَدْيِۚ فَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ ثَلٰثَةِ اَيَّامٍ فِي الْحَجِّ وَسَبْعَةٍ اِذَا رَجَعْتُمْۜ تِلْكَ عَشَرَةٌ كَامِلَةٌۜ ذٰلِكَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ اَهْلُهُ حَاضِرِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِۜ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ شَد۪يدُ الْعِقَابِ۟ Waatimmoo alhajja walAAumratalillahi fa-in ohsirtum fama istaysara minaalhadyi wala tahliqoo ruoosakum hattayablugha alhadyu mahillahu faman kana minkum mareedanaw bihi athan min ra/sihi fafidyatun min siyaminaw sadaqatin aw nusukin fa-itha amintum famantamattaAAa bilAAumrati ila alhajji famaistaysara mina alhadyi faman lam yajid fasiyamuthalathati ayyamin fee alhajji wasabAAatin itharajaAAtum tilka AAasharatun kamilatun thalika limanlam yakun ahluhu hadiree almasjidi alharamiwattaqoo Allaha waAAlamoo anna Allahashadeedu alAAiqab And complete the pilgrimage and the attendance for God. But if you be straitened, then what is easy of the offering. And shave not your heads until the offering reaches its place of sacrifice. And whoso among you is sick or has a hindrance of the head: the redemption is by fast or charity or penance. And when you are secure, then whoso enjoys the attendance until the pilgrimage, then what is easy of the offering. And whoso has not the means: a fast of three days during the pilgrimage, and seven when you have returned. Those are ten complete. That is for him whose family is not present at the inviolable place of worship. And whoso undertakes the pilgrimage therein: no sexual approach, and no perfidy, or quarrelling during the pilgrimage. And whatever good you do, God knows it. And take provision. And whoso makes haste in two days, no sin is upon him; and whoso tarries, no sin is upon him — for him who is in prudent fear; and be in prudent fear of God, and know that to Him you will be gathered. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-203.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 215 - **Form in this verse:** عَلِيمٌۭ — ʿalīmun · "(is) All-Aware" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · nominative case · indefinite يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ مَاذَا يُنْفِقُونَۜ قُلْ مَٓا اَنْفَقْتُمْ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَلِلْوَالِدَيْنِ وَالْاَقْرَب۪ينَ وَالْيَتَامٰى وَالْمَسَاك۪ينِ وَابْنِ السَّب۪يلِۜ وَمَا تَفْعَلُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ بِه۪ عَل۪يمٌ Yas-aloonaka matha yunfiqoona qul maanfaqtum min khayrin falilwalidayni wal-aqrabeenawalyatama walmasakeeni wabniassabeeli wama tafAAaloo min khayrin fa-inna Allahabihi AAaleem They ask thee what they should spend. Say thou: “Whatever you spend of good for parents and relatives, and the fatherless, and the needy, and the wayfarer,[...]. And it may be that you hate a thing and it is good for you; and it may be that you love a thing and it is bad for you. And they ask thee about the fatherless. Say thou: “Improvement for them is best.” And if you associate with them, then are they your brothers. And God knows the worker of corruption from the doer of right. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 223 - **Form in this verse:** وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ — wa-iʿ'lamū · "and know" - **Grammar:** verb · 2nd person, masculine, plural · imperative mood نِسَٓاؤُ۬كُمْ حَرْثٌ لَكُمْۖ فَأْتُوا حَرْثَكُمْ اَنّٰى شِئْتُمْۘ وَقَدِّمُوا لِاَنْفُسِكُمْۜ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّكُمْ مُلَاقُوهُۜ وَبَشِّرِ الْمُؤْمِن۪ينَ Nisaokum harthun lakum fa/tooharthakum anna shi/tum waqaddimoo li-anfusikum wattaqooAllaha waAAlamoo annakum mulaqoohuwabashshiri almu/mineen “Your women are a tilth for you; so come to your tilth as you will, and send ahead for your souls; and be in prudent fear of God, and know that you will meet Him.” And bear thou glad tidings to the believers. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-223.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 224 - **Form in this verse:** عَلِيمٌۭ — ʿalīmun · "All-Knowing" - **Grammar:** adjective · masculine, singular · nominative case · indefinite وَلَا تَجْعَلُوا اللّٰهَ عُرْضَةً لِاَيْمَانِكُمْ اَنْ تَبَرُّوا وَتَتَّقُوا وَتُصْلِحُوا بَيْنَ النَّاسِۜ وَاللّٰهُ سَم۪يعٌ عَل۪يمٌ Wala tajAAaloo Allaha AAurdatanli-aymanikum an tabarroo watattaqoo watuslihoobayna annasi wallahu sameeAAunAAaleem And make not God a cover for your oaths, to keep you from virtue and prudent fear and making right between men. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 230 - **Form in this verse:** يَعْلَمُونَ — yaʿlamūna · "who know" - **Grammar:** verb · 3rd person, masculine, plural · present tense فَاِنْ طَلَّقَهَا فَلَا تَحِلُّ لَهُ مِنْ بَعْدُ حَتّٰى تَنْكِحَ زَوْجاً غَيْرَهُۜ فَاِنْ طَلَّقَهَا فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِمَٓا اَنْ يَتَرَاجَعَٓا اِنْ ظَـنَّٓا اَنْ يُق۪يمَا حُدُودَ اللّٰهِۜ وَتِلْكَ حُدُودُ اللّٰهِ يُبَيِّنُهَا لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ Fa-in tallaqaha falatahillu lahu min baAAdu hatta tankihazawjan ghayrahu fa-in tallaqaha fala junahaAAalayhima an yatarajaAAa in thannaan yuqeema hudooda Allahi watilka hudooduAllahi yubayyinuha liqawmin yaAAlamoon And if he has divorced her, she is not lawful to him thereafter until she marries a spouse other than him. Then if he divorces her, they do no wrong to return to each other, if they think that they can uphold the limits of God. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 231 - **Form in this verse:** وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ — wa-iʿ'lamū · "and know" - **Grammar:** verb · 2nd person, masculine, plural · imperative mood وَاِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ النِّسَٓاءَ فَبَلَغْنَ اَجَلَهُنَّ فَاَمْسِكُوهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوفٍ اَوْ سَرِّحُوهُنَّ بِمَعْرُوفٍۖ وَلَا تُمْسِكُوهُنَّ ضِرَاراً لِتَعْتَدُواۚ وَمَنْ يَفْعَلْ ذٰلِكَ فَقَدْ ظَلَمَ نَفْسَهُۜ وَلَا تَتَّخِذُٓوا اٰيَاتِ اللّٰهِ هُزُواًۘ وَاذْكُرُوا نِعْمَتَ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَمَٓا اَنْزَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَالْحِكْمَةِ يَعِظُـكُمْ بِه۪ۜ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَل۪يمٌ۟ Wa-itha tallaqtumu annisaafabalaghna ajalahunna faamsikoohunna bimaAAroofin aw sarrihoohunnabimaAAroofin wala tumsikoohunna diraranlitaAAtadoo waman yafAAal thalika faqad thalamanafsahu wala tattakhithoo ayati Allahihuzuwan wathkuroo niAAmata Allahi AAalaykumwama anzala AAalaykum mina alkitabi walhikmatiyaAAithukum bihi wattaqoo Allaha waAAlamooanna Allaha bikulli shay-in AAaleem And when you divorce women, and they have reached their term, then retain them according to what is fitting or release them according to what is fitting. And retain them not through harm, to transgress; and whoso does that has wronged himself. And take not the proofs of God in mockery; and remember the favour of God upon you, and what He has sent down to you of the Writ and wisdom whereby He admonishes you. By that is admonished whoso among you believes in God and the Last Day; that is purer and cleaner for you; and God knows, and you know not. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-232.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 232 - **Form in this verse:** تَعْلَمُونَ — taʿlamūna · "know" - **Grammar:** verb · 2nd person, masculine, plural · present tense وَاِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ النِّسَٓاءَ فَبَلَغْنَ اَجَلَهُنَّ فَلَا تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ اَنْ يَنْكِحْنَ اَزْوَاجَهُنَّ اِذَا تَرَاضَوْا بَيْنَهُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِۜ ذٰلِكَ يُوعَظُ بِه۪ مَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِۜ ذٰلِكُمْ اَزْكٰى لَكُمْ وَاَطْهَرُۜ وَاللّٰهُ يَعْلَمُ وَاَنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ Wa-itha tallaqtumu annisaafabalaghna ajalahunna fala taAAduloohunna an yankihnaazwajahunna itha taradaw baynahum bilmaAAroofithalika yooAAathu bihi man kanaminkum yu/minu billahi walyawmi al-akhirithalikum azka lakum waatharu wallahuyaAAlamu waantum la taAAlamoon And when you divorce women, and they have reached their term, then constrain them not from marrying their spouses when they have come to terms according to what is fitting. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 233 - **Form in this verse:** وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ — wa-iʿ'lamū · "and know" - **Grammar:** verb · 2nd person, masculine, plural · imperative mood وَالْوَالِدَاتُ يُرْضِعْنَ اَوْلَادَهُنَّ حَوْلَيْنِ كَامِلَيْنِ لِمَنْ اَرَادَ اَنْ يُـتِمَّ الرَّضَاعَةَۜ وَعَلَى الْمَوْلُودِ لَهُ رِزْقُهُنَّ وَكِسْوَتُهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِۜ لَا تُكَلَّفُ نَفْسٌ اِلَّا وُسْعَهَاۚ لَا تُضَٓارَّ وَالِدَةٌ بِوَلَدِهَا وَلَا مَوْلُودٌ لَهُ بِوَلَدِه۪ وَعَلَى الْوَارِثِ مِثْلُ ذٰلِكَۚ فَاِنْ اَرَادَا فِصَالاً عَنْ تَرَاضٍ مِنْهُمَا وَتَشَاوُرٍ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِمَاۜ وَاِنْ اَرَدْتُمْ اَنْ تَسْتَرْضِعُٓوا اَوْلَادَكُمْ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ اِذَا سَلَّمْتُمْ مَٓا اٰتَيْتُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِۜ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَص۪يرٌ Walwalidatu yurdiAAnaawladahunna hawlayni kamilayni liman aradaan yutimma arradaAAata waAAala almawloodilahu rizquhunna wakiswatuhunna bilmaAAroofi latukallafu nafsun illa wusAAaha la tudarrawalidatun biwaladiha wala mawloodun lahubiwaladihi waAAala alwarithi mithlu thalikafa-in arada fisalan AAan taradinminhuma watashawurin fala junahaAAalayhima wa-in aradtum an tastardiAAoo awladakumfala junaha AAalaykum itha sallamtum maataytum bilmaAAroofi wattaqoo AllahawaAAlamoo anna Allaha bima taAAmaloona baseer And mothers shall suckle their children two complete years, for such as wish to complete the suckling. And upon the father is their provision and their clothing, according to what is fitting. No soul is burdened save to its capacity. A mother shall not be hurt by her child, nor a father by his child. And upon the heir is the like of that. And if they desire weaning by mutual consent and consultation between them, then they do no wrong. And if you desire to seek one to suckle your children, then you do no wrong when you deliver what you have brought according to what is fitting. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 235 - **Form in this verse:** عَلِمَ — ʿalima · "Knows" - **Grammar:** verb · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ ف۪يمَا عَرَّضْتُمْ بِه۪ مِنْ خِطْبَةِ النِّسَٓاءِ اَوْ اَكْنَنْتُمْ ف۪ٓي اَنْفُسِكُمْۜ عَلِمَ اللّٰهُ اَنَّكُمْ سَتَذْكُرُونَهُنَّ وَلٰكِنْ لَا تُوَاعِدُوهُنَّ سِراًّ اِلَّٓا اَنْ تَقُولُوا قَوْلاً مَعْرُوفاًۜ وَلَا تَعْزِمُوا عُقْدَةَ النِّكَاحِ حَتّٰى يَبْلُغَ الْكِتَابُ اَجَلَهُۜ وَاعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا ف۪ٓي اَنْفُسِكُمْ فَاحْذَرُوهُۚ وَاعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ غَفُورٌ حَل۪يمٌ۟ Wala junaha AAalaykum feemaAAarradtum bihi min khitbati annisa-iaw aknantum fee anfusikum AAalima Allahu annakum satathkuroonahunnawalakin la tuwaAAidoohunna sirran illaan taqooloo qawlan maAAroofan wala taAAzimoo AAuqdata annikahihatta yablugha alkitabu ajalahu waAAlamooanna Allaha yaAAlamu ma fee anfusikum fahtharoohuwaAAlamoo anna Allaha ghafoorun haleem And you do no wrong in what you intimate to women of proposal, or hide within yourselves; God knows that you will remember them. But make not nor take an oath with them secretly save that you speak a fitting word. And do not decide upon the knot of marriage until the writ reaches its term. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 246 - **Form in this verse:** عَلِيمٌۢ — ʿalīmun · "(is) All-Knowing" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · nominative case · indefinite اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَى الْمَلَأِ مِنْ بَن۪ٓي اِسْرَٓائ۪لَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مُوسٰىۢ اِذْ قَالُوا لِنَبِيٍّ لَهُمُ ابْعَثْ لَنَا مَلِكاً نُقَاتِلْ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِۜ قَالَ هَلْ عَسَيْتُمْ اِنْ كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْقِتَالُ اَلَّا تُقَاتِلُواۜ قَالُوا وَمَا لَـنَٓا اَلَّا نُقَاتِلَ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ وَقَدْ اُخْرِجْنَا مِنْ دِيَارِنَا وَاَبْنَٓائِنَاۜ فَلَمَّا كُتِبَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقِتَالُ تَوَلَّوْا اِلَّا قَل۪يلاً مِنْهُمْۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَل۪يمٌ بِالظَّالِم۪ينَ Alam tara ila almala-i min banee isra-eelamin baAAdi moosa ith qaloo linabiyyin lahumuibAAath lana malikan nuqatil fee sabeeli Allahiqala hal AAasaytum in kutiba AAalaykumu alqitalualla tuqatiloo qaloo wama lanaalla nuqatila fee sabeeli Allahi waqadokhrijna min diyarina waabna-inafalamma kutiba AAalayhimu alqitalu tawallaw illaqaleelan minhum wallahu AAaleemun biththalimeen Hast thou not considered the eminent ones of the children of Israel after Moses? When they said to a prophet of theirs: “Raise thou up for us a king; we will fight in the cause of God,” he said: “Would you, if fighting be prescribed for you, not fight?” They said: “And why should we not fight in the cause of God when we have been turned out of our homes, and our children?” But when fighting was prescribed for them, they turned away save a few of them. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 247 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْعِلْمِ — l-ʿil'mi · "[the] knowledge" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine · genitive case وَقَالَ لَهُمْ نَبِيُّهُمْ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ قَدْ بَعَثَ لَكُمْ طَالُوتَ مَلِكاًۜ قَالُٓوا اَنّٰى يَكُونُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ عَلَيْنَا وَنَحْنُ اَحَقُّ بِالْمُلْكِ مِنْهُ وَلَمْ يُؤْتَ سَعَةً مِنَ الْمَالِۜ قَالَ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ اصْطَفٰيهُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَزَادَهُ بَسْطَةً فِي الْعِلْمِ وَالْجِسْمِۜ وَاللّٰهُ يُؤْت۪ي مُلْكَهُ مَنْ يَشَٓاءُۜ وَاللّٰهُ وَاسِعٌ عَل۪يمٌ Waqala lahum nabiyyuhum inna Allahaqad baAAatha lakum taloota malikan qaloo annayakoonu lahu almulku AAalayna wanahnu ahaqqubilmulki minhu walam yu/ta saAAatan mina almali qalainna Allaha istafahu AAalaykum wazadahubastatan fee alAAilmi waljismi wallahuyu/tee mulkahu man yashao wallahu wasiAAunAAaleem And their prophet said to them: “God has raised up for you Saul as king.” They said: “How can he have dominion over us when we are worthier of dominion than he, when he has not been given abundance of wealth?” He said: “God has chosen him over you, and increased him abundantly in knowledge and stature.” And God gives His dominion to whom He wills; and God is encompassing and knowing. _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-247.md_ ### 2. And David killed Goliath, and God gave him dominion and wisdom, and taught him of what He willed. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 255 - **Form in this verse:** يَعْلَمُ — yaʿlamu · "He knows" - **Grammar:** verb · 3rd person, masculine, singular · present tense اَللّٰهُ لَٓا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَۚ اَلْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُۚ لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌۜ لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمٰوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْاَرْضِۜ مَنْ ذَا الَّذ۪ي يَشْفَعُ عِنْدَهُٓ اِلَّا بِاِذْنِه۪ۜ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ اَيْد۪يهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْۚ وَلَا يُح۪يطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ عِلْمِه۪ٓ اِلَّا بِمَا شَٓاءَۚ وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضَۚ وَلَا يَؤُ۫دُهُ حِفْظُهُمَاۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظ۪يمُ Allahu la ilaha illahuwa alhayyu alqayyoomu la ta/khuthuhusinatun wala nawmun lahu ma fee assamawatiwama fee al-ardi man tha allatheeyashfaAAu AAindahu illa bi-ithnihi yaAAlamu mabayna aydeehim wama khalfahum wala yuheetoonabishay-in min AAilmihi illa bima shaawasiAAa kursiyyuhu assamawati wal-ardawala yaooduhu hifthuhumawahuwa alAAaliyyu alAAatheem God, there is no god save He, the Living, the Eternal. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him; to Him belongs what is in the heavens and what is in the earth — who will intercede with Him save by His leave? He knows what is before them and what is after them, and they encompass not anything of His knowledge save what He wills. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 259 - **Form in this verse:** أَعْلَمُ — aʿlamu · "I know" - **Grammar:** verb · 1st person, singular · present tense اَوْ كَالَّذ۪ي مَرَّ عَلٰى قَرْيَةٍ وَهِيَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلٰى عُرُوشِهَاۚ قَالَ اَنّٰى يُحْـي۪ هٰذِهِ اللّٰهُ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَاۚ فَاَمَاتَهُ اللّٰهُ مِائَةَ عَامٍ ثُمَّ بَعَثَهُۜ قَالَ كَمْ لَبِثْتَۜ قَالَ لَبِثْتُ يَوْماً اَوْ بَعْضَ يَوْمٍۜ قَالَ بَلْ لَبِثْتَ مِائَةَ عَامٍ فَانْظُرْ اِلٰى طَعَامِكَ وَشَرَابِكَ لَمْ يَتَسَنَّهْۚ وَانْظُرْ اِلٰى حِمَارِكَ وَلِنَجْعَلَكَ اٰيَةً لِلنَّاسِ وَانْظُرْ اِلَى الْعِظَامِ كَيْفَ نُنْشِزُهَا ثُمَّ نَكْسُوهَا لَحْماًۜ فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُۙ قَالَ اَعْلَمُ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَد۪يرٌ Aw kallathee marra AAalaqaryatin wahiya khawiyatun AAala AAurooshihaqala anna yuhyee hathihi AllahubaAAda mawtiha faamatahu Allahu mi-ata AAaminthumma baAAathahu qala kam labithta qala labithtuyawman aw baAAda yawmin qala bal labithta mi-ata AAaminfanthur ila taAAamikawasharabika lam yatasannah wanthurila himarika walinajAAalaka ayatan linnasiwanthur ila alAAithamikayfa nunshizuha thumma naksooha lahmanfalamma tabayyana lahu qala aAAlamu anna AllahaAAala kulli shay-in qadeer Or like one passing by a town when it was desolate: he said: “How will God give life to this after its death?” So God caused him to die a hundred years; then He raised him up. He said: “How long hast thou tarried?” Said he: “I have tarried a day, or part of a day.” He said: “Nay, thou hast tarried a hundred years. Look thou at thy food and drink: they are not spoiled. And look thou at thy donkey — and We will make thee a proof for mankind — and look thou at the bones: how We restore them to life, then We clothe them with flesh.” And when it had become clear to him, said he: “I know that God is over all things powerful.” _https://quran.so/surah-al-baqarah/verse-259.md_ ### 2. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 260 - **Form in this verse:** وَٱعْلَمْ — wa-iʿ'lam · "And know" - **Grammar:** verb · 2nd person, masculine, singular · imperative mood وَاِذْ قَالَ اِبْرٰه۪يمُ رَبِّ اَرِن۪ي كَيْفَ تُحْـيِ الْمَوْتٰىۜ قَالَ اَوَلَمْ تُؤْمِنْۜ قَالَ بَلٰى وَلٰكِنْ لِيَطْمَئِنَّ قَلْب۪يۜ قَالَ فَخُذْ اَرْبَعَةً مِنَ الطَّيْرِ فَصُرْهُنَّ اِلَيْكَ ثُمَّ اجْعَلْ عَلٰى كُلِّ جَبَلٍ مِنْهُنَّ جُزْءاً ثُمَّ ادْعُهُنَّ يَأْت۪ينَكَ سَعْياًۜ وَاعْلَمْ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ عَز۪يزٌ حَك۪يمٌ۟ Wa-ith qala ibraheemurabbi arinee kayfa tuhyee almawta qala awalam tu/min qala bala walakin liyatma-innaqalbee qala fakhuth arbaAAatan mina attayrifasurhunna ilayka thumma ijAAal AAala kulli jabalinminhunna juz-an thumma odAAuhunna ya/teenaka saAAyan waAAlamanna Allaha AAazeezun hakeem And when Abraham said: “My Lord, show Thou me how Thou wilt give life to the dead,” He said: “Dost thou not believe?” Said he: “Verily, but that my heart should be at rest.” He said: “Take thou four birds, and cause thou them to incline to thee; then place thou a part of them upon each hill; then call thou to them — they will come to thee in haste. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 273 - **Form in this verse:** عَلِيمٌ — ʿalīmun · "(is) All-Knower" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · nominative case · indefinite لِلْفُقَـرَٓاءِ الَّذ۪ينَ اُحْصِرُوا ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ لَا يَسْتَط۪يعُونَ ضَـرْباً فِي الْاَرْضِۘ يَحْسَبُهُمُ الْجَاهِلُ اَغْنِيَٓاءَ مِنَ التَّعَفُّفِۚ تَعْرِفُهُمْ بِس۪يمٰيهُمْۚ لَا يَسْـَٔلُونَ النَّاسَ اِلْحَافاًۜ وَمَا تُنْفِقُوا مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ بِه۪ عَل۪يمٌ۟ Lilfuqara-i allatheena ohsiroofee sabeeli Allahi la yastateeAAoona darbanfee al-ardi yahsabuhumu aljahilu aghniyaamina attaAAaffufi taAArifuhum biseemahum layas-aloona annasa ilhafan wamatunfiqoo min khayrin fa-inna Allaha bihi AAaleem On the poor who are straitened in the cause of God, unable to make a way in the earth: the ignorant considers them free from need due to their reticence. Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 282 - **Form in this verse:** عَلَّمَهُ — ʿallamahu · "(has) taught him" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of tef'il · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُٓوا اِذَا تَدَايَنْتُمْ بِدَيْنٍ اِلٰٓى اَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى فَاكْتُبُوهُۜ وَلْيَكْتُبْ بَيْنَكُمْ كَاتِبٌ بِالْعَدْلِۖ وَلَا يَأْبَ كَاتِبٌ اَنْ يَكْتُبَ كَمَا عَلَّمَهُ اللّٰهُ فَلْيَكْتُبْۚ وَلْيُمْلِلِ الَّذ۪ي عَلَيْهِ الْحَقُّ وَلْيَتَّقِ اللّٰهَ رَبَّهُ وَلَا يَبْخَسْ مِنْهُ شَيْـٔاًۜ فَاِنْ كَانَ الَّذ۪ي عَلَيْهِ الْحَقُّ سَف۪يهاً اَوْ ضَع۪يفاً اَوْ لَا يَسْتَط۪يعُ اَنْ يُمِلَّ هُوَ فَلْيُمْلِلْ وَلِيُّهُ بِالْعَدْلِۜ وَاسْتَشْهِدُوا شَه۪يدَيْنِ مِنْ رِجَالِكُمْۚ فَاِنْ لَمْ يَكُونَا رَجُلَيْنِ فَرَجُلٌ وَامْرَاَتَانِ مِمَّنْ تَرْضَوْنَ مِنَ الشُّهَدَٓاءِ اَنْ تَضِلَّ اِحْدٰيهُمَا فَتُذَكِّرَ اِحْدٰيهُمَا الْاُخْرٰىۜ وَلَا يَأْبَ الشُّهَدَٓاءُ اِذَا مَا دُعُواۜ وَلَا تَسْـَٔمُٓوا اَنْ تَكْتُبُوهُ صَغ۪يراً اَوْ كَب۪يراً اِلٰٓى اَجَلِه۪ۜ ذٰلِكُمْ اَقْسَطُ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ وَاَقْوَمُ لِلشَّهَادَةِ وَاَدْنٰٓى اَلَّا تَرْتَابُٓوا اِلَّٓا اَنْ تَكُونَ تِجَارَةً حَاضِرَةً تُد۪يرُونَهَا بَيْنَكُمْ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ اَلَّا تَكْتُبُوهَاۜ وَاَشْهِدُٓوا اِذَا تَبَايَعْتُمْۖ وَلَا يُضَٓارَّ كَاتِبٌ وَلَا شَه۪يدٌۜ وَاِنْ تَفْعَلُوا فَاِنَّهُ فُسُوقٌ بِكُمْۜ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَۜ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ اللّٰهُۜ وَاللّٰهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَل۪يمٌ Ya ayyuha allatheena amanooitha tadayantum bidaynin ila ajalin musammanfaktuboohu walyaktub baynakum katibun bilAAadliwala ya/ba katibun an yaktuba kamaAAallamahu Allahu falyaktub walyumlili allatheeAAalayhi alhaqqu walyattaqi Allaha rabbahu walayabkhas minhu shay-an fa-in kana allathee AAalayhialhaqqu safeehan aw daAAeefan aw la yastateeAAuan yumilla huwa falyumlil waliyyuhu bilAAadli wastashhidooshaheedayni min rijalikum fa-in lam yakoonarajulayni farajulun wamraatani mimman tardawnamina ashshuhada-i an tadilla ihdahumafatuthakkira ihdahuma al-okhrawala ya/ba ashshuhadao itha maduAAoo wala tas-amoo an taktuboohu sagheeran awkabeeran ila ajalihi thalikum aqsatu AAindaAllahi waaqwamu lishshahadati waadnaalla tartaboo illa an takoona tijaratanhadiratan tudeeroonaha baynakum falaysa AAalaykumjunahun alla taktubooha waashhidoo ithatabayaAAtum wala yudarra katibun walashaheedun wa-in tafAAaloo fa-innahu fusooqun bikum wattaqooAllaha wayuAAallimukumu Allahu wallahubikulli shay-in AAaleem O you who heed warning: when you contract a debt together to a stated term: write it down, and let a writer write it down between you justly; and let not a writer refuse to write it down as God has taught him; so let him write, and let the debtor dictate, and let him be in prudent fear of God, his Lord, and diminish nothing thereof. But if the debtor be incompetent, or weak, or unable to dictate himself, then his ally shall dictate justly. And call to witness two witnesses from among your men; but if there be not two men, then a man and two women among those you approve as witnesses, that should one of them err, one of them might remind the other; and let not the witnesses refuse when they are called. And be not weary of writing it, small or great, with its term (that is more just in the sight of God, and more upright for witness, and likelier that there will be no doubt between you) save if it be present trade that you transact among you; then you do no wrong that you write it not down. And take witnesses when you enter into contract. And let not a writer or witness be harmed. And if you do, then is it perfidy among you. And be in prudent fear of God.
