And whoso among you is sick or on a journey: then a number of other days. And for those who are able to do it is a redemption: feeding a needy person. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 102 - **Form in this verse:** أَعَدَّ — aʿadda · "has prepared" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of if'al · 3rd person, masculine, singular · past tense وَاِذَا كُنْتَ ف۪يهِمْ فَاَقَمْتَ لَهُمُ الصَّلٰوةَ فَلْتَقُمْ طَٓائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ مَعَكَ وَلْيَأْخُذُٓوا اَسْلِحَتَهُمْ۠ فَاِذَا سَجَدُوا فَلْيَكُونُوا مِنْ وَرَٓائِكُمْۖ وَلْتَأْتِ طَٓائِفَةٌ اُخْرٰى لَمْ يُصَلُّوا فَلْيُصَلُّوا مَعَكَ وَلْيَأْخُذُوا حِذْرَهُمْ وَاَسْلِحَتَهُمْۚ وَدَّ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْ تَغْفُلُونَ عَنْ اَسْلِحَتِكُمْ وَاَمْتِعَتِكُمْ فَيَم۪يلُونَ عَلَيْكُمْ مَيْلَةً وَاحِدَةًۜ وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ اِنْ كَانَ بِكُمْ اَذًى مِنْ مَطَرٍ اَوْ كُنْتُمْ مَرْضٰٓى اَنْ تَضَعُٓوا اَسْلِحَتَكُمْۚ وَخُذُوا حِذْرَكُمْۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ اَعَدَّ لِلْكَافِر۪ينَ عَذَاباً مُه۪يناً Wa-itha kunta feehim faaqamta lahumuassalata faltaqum ta-ifatun minhummaAAaka walya/khuthoo aslihatahum fa-ithasajadoo falyakoonoo min wara-ikum walta/ti ta-ifatunokhra lam yusalloo falyusalloo maAAakawalya/khuthoo hithrahum waaslihatahumwadda allatheena kafaroo law taghfuloona AAan aslihatikumwaamtiAAatikum fayameeloona AAalaykum maylatan wahidatanwala junaha AAalaykum in kana bikum athanmin matarin aw kuntum marda an tadaAAoo aslihatakumwakhuthoo hithrakum inna AllahaaAAadda lilkafireena AAathaban muheena And when thou art among them, uphold thou the duty for them; then let there stand a number of them with thee, and let them take their arms; then when they have submitted, let them be behind you and let another number come that has not performed the duty, and let them perform the duty with thee; and let them take their precautions and their arms. (Those who ignore warning wish that you would neglect your arms and your equipment, so they might assault you in a single assault; but you do no wrong if there is a hindrance to you from rain or you are sick, that you lay aside your arms; but take your precautions: God has prepared for the false claimers of guidance a humiliating punishment.) _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-102.md_ ### 8. Surah Al-Anfal, Verse 60 - **Form in this verse:** وَأَعِدُّوا۟ — wa-aʿiddū · "And prepare" - **Grammar:** verb · pattern of if'al · 2nd person, masculine, plural · imperative mood وَاَعِدُّوا لَهُمْ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ قُوَّةٍ وَمِنْ رِبَاطِ الْخَيْلِ تُرْهِبُونَ بِه۪ عَدُوَّ اللّٰهِ وَعَدُوَّكُمْ وَاٰخَر۪ينَ مِنْ دُونِهِمْۚ لَا تَعْلَمُونَهُمْۚ اَللّٰهُ يَعْلَمُهُمْۜ وَمَا تُنْفِقُوا مِنْ شَيْءٍ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ يُوَفَّ اِلَيْكُمْ وَاَنْتُمْ لَا تُظْلَمُونَ WaaAAiddoo lahum ma istataAAtummin quwwatin wamin ribati alkhayli turhiboona bihiAAaduwwa Allahi waAAaduwwakum waakhareena mindoonihim la taAAlamoonahumu Allahu yaAAlamuhum wamatunfiqoo min shay-in fee sabeeli Allahi yuwaffa ilaykumwaantum la tuthlamoon And prepare for them what you are able of forces and of cavalry, to terrify thereby the enemy of God, and your enemy, and others besides them whom you know not; God knows them. Surah At-Tawbah, Verse 36 - **Form in this verse:** عِدَّةَ — ʿiddata · "(the) number" - **Grammar:** noun · feminine · accusative case اِنَّ عِدَّةَ الشُّهُورِ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْراً ف۪ي كِتَابِ اللّٰهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضَ مِنْهَٓا اَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌۜ ذٰلِكَ الدّ۪ينُ الْقَيِّمُ فَلَا تَظْلِمُوا ف۪يهِنَّ اَنْفُسَكُمْ وَقَاتِلُوا الْمُشْرِك۪ينَ كَٓافَّةً كَمَا يُقَاتِلُونَكُمْ كَٓافَّةًۜ وَاعْلَمُٓوا اَنَّ اللّٰهَ مَعَ الْمُتَّق۪ينَ Inna AAiddata ashshuhoori AAinda Allahiithna AAashara shahran fee kitabi Allahiyawma khalaqa assamawati wal-ardaminha arbaAAatun hurumun thalika addeenualqayyimu fala tathlimoo feehinna anfusakumwaqatiloo almushrikeena kaffatan kama yuqatiloonakumkaffatan waAAlamoo anna Allaha maAAaalmuttaqeen The count of months is with God; twelve months were in the Writ of God the day He created the heavens and the earth; from it are four inviolable. That is the right doctrine, so wrong not your souls concerning them: — and fight the idolaters altogether as they fight you altogether, and know that God is with those of prudent fear — _https://quran.so/surah-at-tawbah/verse-36.md_ ### 9. Surah At-Tawbah, Verse 37 - **Form in this verse:** عِدَّةَ — ʿiddata · "the number" - **Grammar:** noun · feminine · accusative case اِنَّمَا النَّس۪ٓيءُ زِيَادَةٌ فِي الْكُفْرِ يُضَلُّ بِهِ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا يُحِلُّونَهُ عَاماً وَيُحَرِّمُونَهُ عَاماً لِيُوَاطِؤُ۫ا عِدَّةَ مَا حَرَّمَ اللّٰهُ فَيُحِلُّوا مَا حَرَّمَ اللّٰهُۜ زُيِّنَ لَهُمْ سُٓوءُ اَعْمَالِهِمْۜ وَاللّٰهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْكَافِر۪ينَ۟ Innama annasee-o ziyadatunfee alkufri yudallu bihi allatheena kafaroo yuhilloonahuAAaman wayuharrimoonahu AAaman liyuwati-ooAAiddata ma harrama Allahu fayuhillooma harrama Allahu zuyyina lahum soo-o aAAmalihimwallahu la yahdee alqawma alkafireen Postponement is but an increase in denial whereby those who ignore warning are led astray; they make it lawful one year and make it unlawful another year, that the count might agree with what God made unlawful — so they make lawful what God made unlawful; made fair to them is the evil of their deeds; and God guides not the people of the false claimers of guidance. _https://quran.so/surah-at-tawbah/verse-37.md_ ### 9. Surah At-Talaq, Verse 1 - **Form in this verse:** لِعِدَّتِهِنَّ — liʿiddatihinna · "for their waiting period" - **Grammar:** noun · feminine · genitive case يَٓا اَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ اِذَا طَلَّقْتُمُ النِّسَٓاءَ فَطَلِّقُوهُنَّ لِعِدَّتِهِنَّ وَاَحْصُوا الْعِدَّةَۚ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ رَبَّكُمْۚ لَا تُخْرِجُوهُنَّ مِنْ بُيُوتِهِنَّ وَلَا يَخْرُجْنَ اِلَّٓا اَنْ يَأْت۪ينَ بِفَاحِشَةٍ مُبَيِّنَةٍۜ وَتِلْكَ حُدُودُ اللّٰهِۜ وَمَنْ يَتَعَدَّ حُدُودَ اللّٰهِ فَقَدْ ظَلَمَ نَفْسَهُۜ لَا تَدْر۪ي لَعَلَّ اللّٰهَ يُحْدِثُ بَعْدَ ذٰلِكَ اَمْراً Ya ayyuha annabiyyu ithatallaqtumu annisaa fatalliqoohunnaliAAiddatihinna waahsoo alAAiddata wattaqoo Allaharabbakum la tukhrijoohunna min buyootihinna walayakhrujna illa an ya/teena bifahishatinmubayyinatin watilka hudoodu Allahi wamanyataAAadda hudooda Allahi faqad thalamanafsahu la tadree laAAalla Allaha yuhdithubaAAda thalika amra O Prophet: when you divorce women, divorce them after their waiting period; and count the waiting period, and be in prudent fear of God, your Lord. Turn them not out of their houses, nor let them go forth save if they commit manifest sexual immorality. And those are the limits of God; and whoso transgresses the limits of God has wronged his soul. And for those who are bearing, their waiting period is until they lay down their burden. Surah Al-Muddaththir, Verse 31 - **Form in this verse:** عِدَّتَهُمْ — ʿiddatahum · "their number" - **Grammar:** noun · feminine · accusative case وَمَا جَعَلْنَٓا اَصْحَابَ النَّارِ اِلَّا مَلٰٓئِكَةًۖ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ اِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِلَّذ۪ينَ كَـفَرُواۙ لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ الَّذ۪ينَ اُو۫تُوا الْـكِتَابَ وَيَزْدَادَ الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُٓوا ا۪يمَاناً وَلَا يَرْتَابَ الَّذ۪ينَ اُو۫تُوا الْـكِتَابَ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَۙ وَلِيَقُولَ الَّذ۪ينَ ف۪ي قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ وَالْـكَافِرُونَ مَاذَٓا اَرَادَ اللّٰهُ بِهٰذَا مَثَلاًۜ كَذٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ اللّٰهُ مَنْ يَشَٓاءُ وَيَـهْد۪ي مَنْ يَشَٓاءُۜ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ جُنُودَ رَبِّكَ اِلَّا هُوَۜ وَمَا هِيَ اِلَّا ذِكْرٰى لِلْبَشَرِ۟ Wama jaAAalna as-habaannari illa mala-ikatan wamajaAAalna AAiddatahum illa fitnatan lillatheenakafaroo liyastayqina allatheena ootoo alkitabawayazdada allatheena amanoo eemananwala yartaba allatheena ootoo alkitabawalmu/minoona waliyaqoola allatheena feequloobihim maradun walkafiroona mathaarada Allahu bihatha mathalan kathalikayudillu Allahu man yashao wayahdee man yashaowama yaAAlamu junooda rabbika illa huwa wamahiya illa thikra lilbashar And We have made the Guardians of the Fire only angels. And We made their number only as a means of denial for those who ignore warning, that those given the Writ might be certain, and those who heed warning might increase in faith, and those given the Writ and the believers might not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is disease and the false claimers of guidance might say: “What means God by this similitude?” Thus God sends astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills; and there knows the forces of thy Lord only He.
