But whoso is pardoned anything by his brother, let the pursuance be according to what is fitting and the payment to him with good conduct; that is an alleviation and mercy from your Lord. And they ask thee about the fatherless. Say thou: “Improvement for them is best.” And if you associate with them, then are they your brothers. And God knows the worker of corruption from the doer of right. And remember the favour of God upon you: when you were enemies, He united your hearts so that by His favour you became brethren; and you were upon the edge of a pit of fire, and He rescued you from it. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 11 - **Form in this verse:** إِخْوَةٌۭ — ikh'watun · "brothers and sisters" - **Grammar:** noun · plural · nominative case · indefinite يُوص۪يكُمُ اللّٰهُ ف۪ٓي اَوْلَادِكُمْ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْاُنْثَيَيْنِۚ فَاِنْ كُنَّ نِسَٓاءً فَوْقَ اثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُنَّ ثُلُثَا مَا تَرَكَۚ وَاِنْ كَانَتْ وَاحِدَةً فَلَهَا النِّصْفُۜ وَلِاَبَوَيْهِ لِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا السُّدُسُ مِمَّا تَرَكَ اِنْ كَانَ لَهُ وَلَدٌۚ فَاِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ وَلَدٌ وَوَرِثَهُٓ اَبَوَاهُ فَلِاُمِّهِ الثُّلُثُۚ فَاِنْ كَانَ لَهُٓ اِخْوَةٌ فَلِاُمِّهِ السُّدُسُ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوص۪ي بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۜ اٰبَٓاؤُ۬كُمْ وَاَبْنَٓاؤُ۬كُمْۚ لَا تَدْرُونَ اَيُّهُمْ اَقْرَبُ لَكُمْ نَفْعاًۚ فَر۪يضَةً مِنَ اللّٰهِۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ عَل۪يماً حَك۪يماً Yooseekumu Allahu fee awladikumliththakari mithlu haththialonthayayni fa-in kunna nisaan fawqa ithnatayni falahunnathulutha ma taraka wa-in kanat wahidatanfalaha annisfu wali-abawayhi likulli wahidinminhuma assudusu mimma taraka in kanalahu waladun fa-in lam yakun lahu waladun wawarithahu abawahufali-ommihi aththuluthu fa-in kana lahu ikhwatunfali-ommihi assudusu min baAAdi wasiyyatin yooseebiha aw daynin abaokum waabnaokum latadroona ayyuhum aqrabu lakum nafAAan fareedatan mina Allahiinna Allaha kana AAaleeman hakeema God charges you concerning your children: for the male is the like of the portion of two females; but if there are women above two, then for them is two-thirds of what he left; and if she is one, then for her is half; and for his parents: for each one of them is one-sixth of what he left if he has a child. Then if he has not a child and there inherit from him his parents, for his mother is one-third; but if he has brothers or sisters: for his mother is one-sixth, after a bequest he has made, or debt — your parents and your children: you know not which of them is nearer to you in benefit — as an obligation from God; God is knowing and wise. _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-11.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 12 - **Form in this verse:** أَخٌ — akhun · "(is) a brother" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · nominative case · indefinite وَلَكُمْ نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَ اَزْوَاجُكُمْ اِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌۚ فَاِنْ كَانَ لَهُنَّ وَلَدٌ فَلَكُمُ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْنَ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوص۪ينَ بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۜ وَلَهُنَّ الرُّبُعُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ اِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌۚ فَاِنْ كَانَ لَكُمْ وَلَدٌ فَلَهُنَّ الثُّمُنُ مِمَّا تَرَكْتُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ تُوصُونَ بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۜ وَاِنْ كَانَ رَجُلٌ يُورَثُ كَلَالَةً اَوِ امْرَاَةٌ وَلَهُٓ اَخٌ اَوْ اُخْتٌ فَلِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا السُّدُسُۚ فَاِنْ كَانُٓوا اَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذٰلِكَ فَهُمْ شُرَكَٓاءُ فِي الثُّلُثِ مِنْ بَعْدِ وَصِيَّةٍ يُوصٰى بِهَٓا اَوْ دَيْنٍۙ غَيْرَ مُضَٓارٍّۚ وَصِيَّةً مِنَ اللّٰهِۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَل۪يمٌ حَل۪يمٌۜ Walakum nisfu ma taraka azwajukumin lam yakun lahunna waladun fa-in kana lahunna waladunfalakumu arrubuAAu mimma tarakna min baAAdi wasiyyatinyooseena biha aw daynin walahunna arrubuAAumimma taraktum in lam yakun lakum waladun fa-in kanalakum waladun falahunna aththumunu mimma taraktummin baAAdi wasiyyatin toosoona biha awdaynin wa-in kana rajulun yoorathu kalalatan awiimraatun walahu akhun aw okhtun falikulli wahidin minhumaassudusu fa-in kanoo akthara min thalikafahum shurakao fee aththuluthi min baAAdi wasiyyatinyoosa biha aw daynin ghayra mudarrin wasiyyatanmina Allahi wallahu AAaleemun haleem And for you is half of what your wives left if they have not a child; but if they have a child, then for you is one-fourth of what they left, after a bequest they have made, or debt. And for them: one-fourth of what you left, if you have not a child; but if you have a child: for them is one-eighth of what you left, after a bequest you have made, or debt. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 23 - **Form in this verse:** وَأَخَوَٰتُكُمْ — wa-akhawātukum · "and your sisters" - **Grammar:** noun · feminine, plural · nominative case حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ اُمَّهَاتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُكُمْ وَاَخَوَاتُكُمْ وَعَمَّاتُكُمْ وَخَالَاتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُ الْاَخِ وَبَنَاتُ الْاُخْتِ وَاُمَّهَاتُكُمُ الّٰت۪ٓي اَرْضَعْنَكُمْ وَاَخَوَاتُكُمْ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ وَاُمَّهَاتُ نِسَٓائِكُمْ وَرَبَٓائِبُكُمُ الّٰت۪ي ف۪ي حُجُورِكُمْ مِنْ نِسَٓائِكُمُ الّٰت۪ي دَخَلْتُمْ بِهِنَّۘ فَاِنْ لَمْ تَكُونُوا دَخَلْتُمْ بِهِنَّ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْۘ وَحَلَٓائِلُ اَبْنَٓائِكُمُ الَّذ۪ينَ مِنْ اَصْلَابِكُمْۙ وَاَنْ تَجْمَعُوا بَيْنَ الْاُخْتَيْنِ اِلَّا مَا قَدْ سَلَفَۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ غَفُوراً رَح۪يماًۙ Hurrimat AAalaykum ommahatukumwabanatukum waakhawatukum waAAammatukum wakhalatukumwabanatu al-akhi wabanatu al-okhti waommahatukumuallatee ardaAAnakum waakhawatukum mina arradaAAatiwaommahatu nisa-ikum waraba-ibukumu allateefee hujoorikum min nisa-ikumu allateedakhaltum bihinna fa-in lam takoonoo dakhaltum bihinna falajunaha AAalaykum wahala-ilu abna-ikumuallatheena min aslabikum waan tajmaAAoobayna al-okhtayni illa ma qad salafa inna Allahakana ghafooran raheema Forbidden to you are your mothers, and your daughters, and your sisters, and your paternal aunts, and your maternal aunts, and the daughters of your brother, and the daughters of your sister, and your milk-mothers, and your milk-sisters, and the mothers of your wives, and your step-daughters under your protection from your wives unto whom you have gone in (and if you have gone not in unto them, then there is no wrong upon you) and the wives of your sons of your loins, and that you bring two sisters together, save what is past; God is forgiving and merciful; _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-23.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 23 - **Form in this verse:** ٱلْأُخْتِ — l-ukh'ti · "(of) sisters" - **Grammar:** noun · feminine, singular · genitive case حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ اُمَّهَاتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُكُمْ وَاَخَوَاتُكُمْ وَعَمَّاتُكُمْ وَخَالَاتُكُمْ وَبَنَاتُ الْاَخِ وَبَنَاتُ الْاُخْتِ وَاُمَّهَاتُكُمُ الّٰت۪ٓي اَرْضَعْنَكُمْ وَاَخَوَاتُكُمْ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ وَاُمَّهَاتُ نِسَٓائِكُمْ وَرَبَٓائِبُكُمُ الّٰت۪ي ف۪ي حُجُورِكُمْ مِنْ نِسَٓائِكُمُ الّٰت۪ي دَخَلْتُمْ بِهِنَّۘ فَاِنْ لَمْ تَكُونُوا دَخَلْتُمْ بِهِنَّ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْۘ وَحَلَٓائِلُ اَبْنَٓائِكُمُ الَّذ۪ينَ مِنْ اَصْلَابِكُمْۙ وَاَنْ تَجْمَعُوا بَيْنَ الْاُخْتَيْنِ اِلَّا مَا قَدْ سَلَفَۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ كَانَ غَفُوراً رَح۪يماًۙ Hurrimat AAalaykum ommahatukumwabanatukum waakhawatukum waAAammatukum wakhalatukumwabanatu al-akhi wabanatu al-okhti waommahatukumuallatee ardaAAnakum waakhawatukum mina arradaAAatiwaommahatu nisa-ikum waraba-ibukumu allateefee hujoorikum min nisa-ikumu allateedakhaltum bihinna fa-in lam takoonoo dakhaltum bihinna falajunaha AAalaykum wahala-ilu abna-ikumuallatheena min aslabikum waan tajmaAAoobayna al-okhtayni illa ma qad salafa inna Allahakana ghafooran raheema Forbidden to you are your mothers, and your daughters, and your sisters, and your paternal aunts, and your maternal aunts, and the daughters of your brother, and the daughters of your sister, and your milk-mothers, and your milk-sisters, and the mothers of your wives, and your step-daughters under your protection from your wives unto whom you have gone in (and if you have gone not in unto them, then there is no wrong upon you) and the wives of your sons of your loins, and that you bring two sisters together, save what is past; God is forgiving and merciful; _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-23.md_ ### 4. Surah An-Nisa, Verse 176 - **Form in this verse:** أُخْتٌۭ — ukh'tun · "a sister" - **Grammar:** noun · feminine, singular · nominative case · indefinite يَسْتَفْتُونَكَۜ قُلِ اللّٰهُ يُفْت۪يكُمْ فِي الْكَلَالَةِۜ اِنِ امْرُؤٌا هَلَكَ لَيْسَ لَهُ وَلَدٌ وَلَهُٓ اُخْتٌ فَلَهَا نِصْفُ مَا تَرَكَۚ وَهُوَ يَرِثُـهَٓا اِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهَا وَلَدٌۜ فَاِنْ كَانَتَا اثْنَتَيْنِ فَلَهُمَا الثُّلُثَانِ مِمَّا تَرَكَۜ وَاِنْ كَانُٓوا اِخْوَةً رِجَالاً وَنِسَٓاءً فَلِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْاُنْثَيَيْنِۜ يُبَيِّنُ اللّٰهُ لَكُمْ اَنْ تَضِلُّواۜ وَاللّٰهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَل۪يمٌ Yastaftoonaka quli Allahu yufteekumfee alkalalati ini imruon halaka laysa lahu waladun walahuokhtun falaha nisfu ma taraka wahuwayarithuha in lam yakun laha waladun fa-in kanataithnatayni falahuma aththuluthani mimmataraka wa-in kanoo ikhwatan rijalan wanisaanfaliththakari mithlu haththialonthayayni yubayyinu Allahu lakum an tadilloo wallahubikulli shay-in AAaleem They ask thee for a ruling. Say thou: “God gives you the ruling concerning those without an immediate heir: if a man perishes without a child but has a sister: for her is half of what he left, and he inherits from her if she has not a child. But if there are two females: for them is two-thirds of what he left. And if they are brethren, men and women: for the male is the like of the share of two females.” And God makes plain to you lest you go astray; and God knows all things. _https://quran.so/surah-an-nisa/verse-176.md_ ### 4. Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 30 - **Form in this verse:** أَخِيهِ — akhīhi · "his brother" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · genitive case فَطَوَّعَتْ لَهُ نَفْسُهُ قَتْلَ اَخ۪يهِ فَقَتَلَهُ فَاَصْبَحَ مِنَ الْخَاسِر۪ينَ FatawwaAAat lahu nafsuhu qatlaakheehi faqatalahu faasbaha mina alkhasireen And his soul allowed him the killing of his brother; and he killed him, and became of the losers. _https://quran.so/surah-al-maidah/verse-30.md_ ### 5. Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 31 - **Form in this verse:** أَخِيهِ ۚ — akhīhi · "(of) his brother" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · genitive case فَبَعَثَ اللّٰهُ غُرَاباً يَبْحَثُ فِي الْاَرْضِ لِيُرِيَهُ كَيْفَ يُوَار۪ي سَوْاَةَ اَخ۪يهِۜ قَالَ يَا وَيْلَتٰٓى اَعَجَزْتُ اَنْ اَكُونَ مِثْلَ هٰذَا الْغُرَابِ فَاُوَارِيَ سَوْاَةَ اَخ۪يۚ فَاَصْبَحَ مِنَ النَّادِم۪ينَۚۛ FabaAAatha Allahu ghuraban yabhathufee al-ardi liyuriyahu kayfa yuwaree saw-ataakheehi qala ya waylata aAAajaztu an akoonamithla hatha alghurabi faowariya saw-ataakhee faasbaha mina annadimeen Then God raised up a raven, scratching in the earth, to show him how to hide the shame of his brother. He said: “Woe is me! Am I not able to be as this raven, and hide the shame of my brother?” And he became of the remorseful. _https://quran.so/surah-al-maidah/verse-31.md_ ### 5. Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 38 - **Form in this verse:** أُخْتَهَا ۖ — ukh'tahā · "its sister (nation)" - **Grammar:** noun · feminine, singular · accusative case قَالَ ادْخُلُوا ف۪ٓي اُمَمٍ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْاِنْسِ فِي النَّارِۜ كُلَّمَا دَخَلَتْ اُمَّةٌ لَعَنَتْ اُخْتَهَاۜ حَتّٰٓى اِذَا ادَّارَكُوا ف۪يهَا جَم۪يعاًۙ قَالَتْ اُخْرٰيهُمْ لِاُو۫لٰيهُمْ رَبَّنَا هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ اَضَلُّونَا فَاٰتِهِمْ عَذَاباً ضِعْفاً مِنَ النَّارِۜ قَالَ لِكُلٍّ ضِعْفٌ وَلٰكِنْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ Qala odkhuloo fee omamin qad khalatmin qablikum mina aljinni wal-insi fee annarikullama dakhalat ommatun laAAanat okhtaha hattaitha iddarakoo feeha jameeAAan qalatokhrahum li-oolahum rabbana haola-iadalloona faatihim AAathaban diAAfanmina annari qala likullin diAAfunwalakin la taAAlamoon He will say: “Enter among the communities that have passed away before you of domini and servi into the Fire!” Whenever a community enters, it curses its sister; when they have followed one another therein all together, the last of them will say to the first of them: “Our Lord: these led us astray; so give Thou them double punishment of the Fire!” He will say: “For each is double, but you know not.” _https://quran.so/surah-al-araf/verse-38.md_ ### 7. Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 65 - **Form in this verse:** أَخَاهُمْ — akhāhum · "(We sent) their brother" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case وَاِلٰى عَادٍ اَخَاهُمْ هُوداًۜ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللّٰهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ اِلٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۜ اَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ Wa-ila AAadin akhahumhoodan qala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha malakum min ilahin ghayruhu afala tattaqoon And to ʿĀd, their brother Hūd. Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 73 - **Form in this verse:** أَخَاهُمْ — akhāhum · "(We sent) their brother" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case وَاِلٰى ثَمُودَ اَخَاهُمْ صَـالِـحاًۢ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللّٰهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ اِلٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۜ قَدْ جَٓاءَتْكُمْ بَيِّنَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْۜ هٰذِه۪ نَاقَةُ اللّٰهِ لَكُمْ اٰيَةً فَذَرُوهَا تَأْكُلْ ف۪ٓي اَرْضِ اللّٰهِ وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُٓوءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابٌ اَل۪يمٌ Wa-ila thamooda akhahum salihanqala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha malakum min ilahin ghayruhu qad jaatkum bayyinatunmin rabbikum hathihi naqatu Allahi lakum ayatanfatharooha ta/kul fee ardi Allahi walatamassooha bisoo-in faya/khuthakum AAathabunaleem And to Thamūd, their brother Ṣāliḥ. He said: “O my people: serve God; you have no god but He; there has come to you clear evidence from your Lord: this is the she-camel of God, as a proof for you, so leave her to eat in God’s earth, and touch her not with evil lest there take you a painful punishment. _https://quran.so/surah-al-araf/verse-73.md_ ### 7. Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 85 - **Form in this verse:** أَخَاهُمْ — akhāhum · "his brother" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case وَاِلٰى مَدْيَنَ اَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْباًۜ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللّٰهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ اِلٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۜ قَدْ جَٓاءَتْكُمْ بَيِّنَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ فَاَوْفُوا الْكَيْلَ وَالْم۪يزَانَ وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ اَشْيَٓاءَهُمْ وَلَا تُفْسِدُوا فِي الْاَرْضِ بَعْدَ اِصْلَاحِهَاۜ ذٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِن۪ينَۚ Wa-ila madyana akhahumshuAAayban qala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha malakum min ilahin ghayruhu qad jaatkum bayyinatunmin rabbikum faawfoo alkayla walmeezana walatabkhasoo annasa ashyaahum walatufsidoo fee al-ardi baAAda islahiha thalikumkhayrun lakum in kuntum mu/mineen And to Madyan, their brother Shuʿayb. He said: “O my people: serve God; you have no god but He; there has come to you clear evidence from your Lord, so fulfil the measure and the balance, and deprive not people of their possessions; and work not corruption in the land after its right ordering; that is better for you, if you be believers. _https://quran.so/surah-al-araf/verse-85.md_ ### 7. Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 142 - **Form in this verse:** لِأَخِيهِ — li-akhīhi · "to his brother" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · genitive case وَوٰعَدْنَا مُوسٰى ثَلٰث۪ينَ لَيْلَةً وَاَتْمَمْنَاهَا بِعَشْرٍ فَتَمَّ م۪يقَاتُ رَبِّه۪ٓ اَرْبَع۪ينَ لَيْلَةًۚ وَقَالَ مُوسٰى لِاَخ۪يهِ هٰرُونَ اخْلُفْن۪ي ف۪ي قَوْم۪ي وَاَصْلِحْ وَلَا تَتَّبِـعْ سَب۪يلَ الْمُفْسِد۪ينَ WawaAAadna moosa thalatheenalaylatan waatmamnaha biAAashrin fatamma meeqaturabbihi arbaAAeena laylatan waqala moosa li-akheehiharoona okhlufnee fee qawmee waaslih walatattabiAA sabeela almufsideen And We appointed for Moses thirty nights, and completed them with ten; so he completed the time appointed by his Lord of forty nights. And Moses said to his brother Aaron: “Be thou my successor among my people; and make thou right; and follow thou not the path of the workers of corruption.” _https://quran.so/surah-al-araf/verse-142.md_ ### 7. Surah Al-A'raf, Verse 150 - **Form in this verse:** أَخِيهِ — akhīhi · "his brother" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · genitive case وَلَمَّا رَجَعَ مُوسٰٓى اِلٰى قَوْمِه۪ غَضْبَانَ اَسِفاًۙ قَالَ بِئْسَمَا خَلَفْتُمُون۪ي مِنْ بَعْد۪يۚ اَعَجِلْتُمْ اَمْرَ رَبِّكُمْۚ وَاَلْقَى الْاَلْوَاحَ وَاَخَذَ بِرَأْسِ اَخ۪يهِ يَجُرُّهُٓ اِلَيْهِۜ قَالَ ابْنَ اُمَّ اِنَّ الْقَوْمَ اسْتَضْعَفُون۪ي وَكَادُوا يَقْتُلُونَن۪يۘ فَلَا تُشْمِتْ بِيَ الْاَعْدَٓاءَ وَلَا تَجْعَلْن۪ي مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِم۪ينَ Walamma rajaAAa moosa ilaqawmihi ghadbana asifan qala bi/samakhalaftumoonee min baAAdee aAAajiltum amra rabbikum waalqa al-alwahawaakhatha bira/si akheehi yajurruhu ilayhi qalaibna omma inna alqawma istadAAafoonee wakadooyaqtuloonanee fala tushmit biya al-aAAdaa walatajAAalnee maAAa alqawmi aththalimeen And when Moses returned to his people, wrathful and grieved, he said: “Evil is what you took up while I was away; were you impatient over the command of your Lord?” And he cast down the tablets, and seized his brother by the head, dragging him to him. Said he: “Son of my mother: the people despised me and were about to kill me. Surah At-Tawbah, Verse 24 - **Form in this verse:** وَإِخْوَٰنُكُمْ — wa-ikh'wānukum · "and your brothers" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, plural · nominative case قُلْ اِنْ كَانَ اٰبَٓاؤُ۬كُمْ وَاَبْنَٓاؤُ۬كُمْ وَاِخْوَانُكُمْ وَاَزْوَاجُكُمْ وَعَش۪يرَتُكُمْ وَاَمْوَالٌۨ اقْتَرَفْتُمُوهَا وَتِجَارَةٌ تَخْشَوْنَ كَسَادَهَا وَمَسَاكِنُ تَرْضَوْنَـهَٓا اَحَبَّ اِلَيْكُمْ مِنَ اللّٰهِ وَرَسُولِه۪ وَجِهَادٍ ف۪ي سَب۪يلِه۪ فَتَرَبَّصُوا حَتّٰى يَأْتِيَ اللّٰهُ بِاَمْرِه۪ۜ وَاللّٰهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْفَاسِق۪ينَ۟ Qul in kana abaokumwaabnaokum wa-ikhwanukum waazwajukumwaAAasheeratukum waamwalun iqtaraftumooha watijaratuntakhshawna kasadaha wamasakinu tardawnahaahabba ilaykum mina Allahi warasoolihi wajihadinfee sabeelihi fatarabbasoo hatta ya/tiya Allahubi-amrihi wallahu la yahdee alqawma alfasiqeen Say thou: “If your fathers, and your sons, and your brothers, and your wives, and your kindred, and the wealth you have acquired, and trade wherein you fear a decline, and dwellings with which you are pleased, be dearer to you than God and His messenger and striving in His cause, then wait until God brings His command”; and God guides not the perfidious people. _https://quran.so/surah-at-tawbah/verse-24.md_ ### 10. He said: “O my people: serve God; you have no god but He. They said: “O our father: what more can we ask! This is our merchandise returned to us. Surah Yusuf, Verse 76 - **Form in this verse:** أَخِيهِ — akhīhi · "(of) his brother" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · genitive case فَبَدَاَ بِاَوْعِيَتِهِمْ قَبْلَ وِعَٓاءِ اَخ۪يهِ ثُمَّ اسْتَخْرَجَهَا مِنْ وِعَٓاءِ اَخ۪يهِۜ كَذٰلِكَ كِدْنَا لِيُوسُفَۜ مَا كَانَ لِيَأْخُذَ اَخَاهُ ف۪ي د۪ينِ الْمَلِكِ اِلَّٓا اَنْ يَشَٓاءَ اللّٰهُۜ نَرْفَعُ دَرَجَاتٍ مَنْ نَشَٓاءُۜ وَفَوْقَ كُلِّ ذ۪ي عِلْمٍ عَل۪يمٌ Fabadaa bi-awAAiyatihim qabla wiAAa-iakheehi thumma istakhrajaha min wiAAa-i akheehi kathalikakidna liyoosufa ma kana liya/khuthaakhahu fee deeni almaliki illa an yashaa AllahunarfaAAu darajatin man nashao wafawqa kulli theeAAilmin AAaleem So he began with their bags before the bag of his brother; then he brought it forth from the bag of his brother. (Thus did We plan for Joseph; he could not have taken his brother within the doctrine of the King save that God had so willed. Surah Yusuf, Verse 76 - **Form in this verse:** أَخَاهُ — akhāhu · "his brother" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · nominative case فَبَدَاَ بِاَوْعِيَتِهِمْ قَبْلَ وِعَٓاءِ اَخ۪يهِ ثُمَّ اسْتَخْرَجَهَا مِنْ وِعَٓاءِ اَخ۪يهِۜ كَذٰلِكَ كِدْنَا لِيُوسُفَۜ مَا كَانَ لِيَأْخُذَ اَخَاهُ ف۪ي د۪ينِ الْمَلِكِ اِلَّٓا اَنْ يَشَٓاءَ اللّٰهُۜ نَرْفَعُ دَرَجَاتٍ مَنْ نَشَٓاءُۜ وَفَوْقَ كُلِّ ذ۪ي عِلْمٍ عَل۪يمٌ Fabadaa bi-awAAiyatihim qabla wiAAa-iakheehi thumma istakhrajaha min wiAAa-i akheehi kathalikakidna liyoosufa ma kana liya/khuthaakhahu fee deeni almaliki illa an yashaa AllahunarfaAAu darajatin man nashao wafawqa kulli theeAAilmin AAaleem So he began with their bags before the bag of his brother; then he brought it forth from the bag of his brother. (Thus did We plan for Joseph; he could not have taken his brother within the doctrine of the King save that God had so willed. Surah Yusuf, Verse 100 - **Form in this verse:** إِخْوَتِىٓ ۚ — ikh'watī · "my brothers" - **Grammar:** noun · plural · nominative case وَرَفَعَ اَبَوَيْهِ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ وَخَرُّوا لَهُ سُجَّداًۚ وَقَالَ يَٓا اَبَتِ هٰذَا تَأْو۪يلُ رُءْيَايَ مِنْ قَبْلُۘ قَدْ جَعَلَهَا رَبّ۪ي حَقاًّۜ وَقَدْ اَحْسَنَ ب۪ٓي اِذْ اَخْرَجَن۪ي مِنَ السِّجْنِ وَجَٓاءَ بِكُمْ مِنَ الْبَدْوِ مِنْ بَعْدِ اَنْ نَزَغَ الشَّيْطَانُ بَيْن۪ي وَبَيْنَ اِخْوَت۪يۜ اِنَّ رَبّ۪ي لَط۪يفٌ لِمَا يَشَٓاءُۜ اِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَل۪يمُ الْحَك۪يمُ WarafaAAa abawayhi AAala alAAarshiwakharroo lahu sujjadan waqala ya abati hathata/weelu ru/yaya min qablu qad jaAAalaha rabbee haqqanwaqad ahsana bee ith akhrajanee mina assijniwajaa bikum mina albadwi min baAAdi an nazagha ashshaytanubaynee wabayna ikhwatee inna rabbee lateefun limayashao innahu huwa alAAaleemu alhakeem And he raised his parents upon the throne. And they fell down to him in submission, and he said: “O my father: this is the fulfilment of my dream before. My Lord has made it true. And He did good to me when He took me out of the prison, and brought you from the desert after the satan had provoked to evil between me and my brothers. Surah Taha, Verse 40 - **Form in this verse:** أُخْتُكَ — ukh'tuka · "your sister" - **Grammar:** noun · feminine, singular · nominative case اِذْ تَمْش۪ٓي اُخْتُكَ فَتَقُولُ هَلْ اَدُلُّكُمْ عَلٰى مَنْ يَكْفُلُهُۜ فَرَجَعْنَاكَ اِلٰٓى اُمِّكَ كَيْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَۜ وَقَتَلْتَ نَفْساً فَنَجَّيْنَاكَ مِنَ الْغَمِّ وَفَتَنَّاكَ فُتُوناً۠ فَلَبِثْتَ سِن۪ينَ ف۪ٓي اَهْلِ مَدْيَنَ ثُمَّ جِئْتَ عَلٰى قَدَرٍ يَا مُوسٰى Ith tamshee okhtuka fataqoolu haladullukum AAala man yakfuluhu farajaAAnaka ilaommika kay taqarra AAaynuha wala tahzanawaqatalta nafsan fanajjaynaka mina alghammi wafatannakafutoonan falabithta sineena fee ahli madyana thumma ji/ta AAalaqadarin ya moosa “When thy sister went and said: ‘Shall I direct you to one who will take care of him?’ So We returned thee to thy mother, that her eye might be comforted and grieve not. And thou didst kill a soul; and We delivered thee from distress, and subjected thee to means of denial by a trial. Surah An-Nur, Verse 31 - **Form in this verse:** إِخْوَٰنِهِنَّ — ikh'wānihinna · "their brothers" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, plural · genitive case وَقُلْ لِلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ يَغْضُضْنَ مِنْ اَبْصَارِهِنَّ وَيَحْفَظْنَ فُرُوجَهُنَّ وَلَا يُبْد۪ينَ ز۪ينَتَهُنَّ اِلَّا مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَلْيَضْرِبْنَ بِخُمُرِهِنَّ عَلٰى جُيُوبِهِنَّۖ وَلَا يُبْد۪ينَ ز۪ينَتَهُنَّ اِلَّا لِبُعُولَتِهِنَّ اَوْ اٰبَٓائِهِنَّ اَوْ اٰبَٓاءِ بُعُولَتِهِنَّ اَوْ اَبْنَٓائِهِنَّ اَوْ اَبْنَٓاءِ بُعُولَتِهِنَّ اَوْ اِخْوَانِهِنَّ اَوْ بَن۪ٓي اِخْوَانِهِنَّ اَوْ بَن۪ٓي اَخَوَاتِهِنَّ اَوْ نِسَٓائِهِنَّ اَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ اَيْمَانُهُنَّ اَوِ التَّابِع۪ينَ غَيْرِ اُو۬لِي الْاِرْبَةِ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ اَوِ الطِّفْلِ الَّذ۪ينَ لَمْ يَظْهَرُوا عَلٰى عَوْرَاتِ النِّسَٓاءِۖ وَلَا يَضْرِبْنَ بِاَرْجُلِهِنَّ لِيُعْلَمَ مَا يُخْف۪ينَ مِنْ ز۪ينَتِهِنَّۜ وَتُوبُٓوا اِلَى اللّٰهِ جَم۪يعاً اَيُّهَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ Waqul lilmu/minati yaghdudnamin absarihinna wayahfathnafuroojahunna wala yubdeena zeenatahunna illa mathahara minha walyadribnabikhumurihinna AAala juyoobihinna wala yubdeenazeenatahunna illa libuAAoolatihinna aw aba-ihinnaaw aba-i buAAoolatihinna aw abna-ihinna awabna-i buAAoolatihinna aw ikhwanihinna aw baneeikhwanihinna aw banee akhawatihinna aw nisa-ihinnaaw ma malakat aymanuhunna awi attabiAAeenaghayri olee al-irbati mina arrijali awi attifliallatheena lam yathharoo AAala AAawratiannisa-i wala yadribnabi-arjulihinna liyuAAlama ma yukhfeena min zeenatihinnawatooboo ila Allahi jameeAAan ayyuhaalmu/minoona laAAallakum tuflihoon And say thou to the believing women, that they lower some of their sight, and preserve their chastity, and that they show not their adornment save that apparent of it, and that they draw their coverings over their bosoms and not reveal their adornment save to their husbands, or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands, or their sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or the sons of their brothers, or the sons of their sisters, or their women, or what their right hands possess, or male attendants who have not the resourcefulness of men, or the children not yet aware of a woman’s private parts. And let them not strike their feet to make known what they hide of their adornment. Surah An-Nur, Verse 61 - **Form in this verse:** إِخْوَٰنِكُمْ — ikh'wānikum · "(of) your brothers" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, plural · genitive case لَيْسَ عَلَى الْاَعْمٰى حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلَى الْاَعْرَجِ حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلَى الْمَر۪يضِ حَرَجٌ وَلَا عَلٰٓى اَنْفُسِكُمْ اَنْ تَأْكُلُوا مِنْ بُيُوتِكُمْ اَوْ بُيُوتِ اٰبَٓائِكُمْ اَوْ بُيُوتِ اُمَّهَاتِكُمْ اَوْ بُيُوتِ اِخْوَانِكُمْ اَوْ بُيُوتِ اَخَوَاتِكُمْ اَوْ بُيُوتِ اَعْمَامِكُمْ اَوْ بُيُوتِ عَمَّاتِكُمْ اَوْ بُيُوتِ اَخْوَالِكُمْ اَوْ بُيُوتِ خَالَاتِكُمْ اَوْ مَا مَلَكْتُمْ مَفَاتِحَهُٓ اَوْ صَد۪يقِكُمْۜ لَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ اَنْ تَأْكُلُوا جَم۪يعاً اَوْ اَشْتَاتاًۜ فَاِذَا دَخَلْتُمْ بُيُوتاً فَسَلِّمُوا عَلٰٓى اَنْفُسِكُمْ تَحِيَّةً مِنْ عِنْدِ اللّٰهِ مُبَارَكَةً طَيِّبَةًۜ كَذٰلِكَ يُبَيِّنُ اللّٰهُ لَكُمُ الْاٰيَاتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ۟ Laysa AAala al-aAAma harajunwala AAala al-aAAraji harajun walaAAala almareedi harajun wala AAalaanfusikum an ta/kuloo min buyootikum aw buyooti aba-ikumaw buyooti ommahatikum aw buyooti ikhwanikum awbuyooti akhawatikum aw buyooti aAAmamikum awbuyooti AAammatikum aw buyooti akhwalikum awbuyooti khalatikum aw ma malaktum mafatihahuaw sadeeqikum laysa AAalaykum junahun an ta/kuloojameeAAan aw ashtatan fa-itha dakhaltum buyootanfasallimoo AAala anfusikum tahiyyatan min AAindiAllahi mubarakatan tayyibatan kathalikayubayyinu Allahu lakumu al-ayati laAAallakumtaAAqiloon No blame is there upon the blind, nor any blame upon the lame, nor any blame upon the sick, nor upon yourselves, that you eat of your houses, or the houses of your fathers, or the houses of your mothers, or the houses of your brothers, or the houses of your sisters, or the houses of your paternal uncles, or the houses of your paternal aunts, or the houses of your maternal uncles, or the houses of your maternal aunts, or that whereof you hold the keys, or of your friend; you do no wrong to eat together or separately. But when you enter houses, greet one another with a greeting from God, blessed and good. Surah Al-Qasas, Verse 35 - **Form in this verse:** بِأَخِيكَ — bi-akhīka · "through your brother" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · genitive case قَالَ سَنَشُدُّ عَضُدَكَ بِاَخ۪يكَ وَنَجْعَلُ لَكُمَا سُلْطَاناً فَلَا يَصِلُونَ اِلَيْكُمَا بِاٰيَاتِنَاۚ اَنْتُمَا وَمَنِ اتَّـبَعَكُمَا الْغَالِبُونَ Qala sanashuddu AAadudakabi-akheeka wanajAAalu lakuma sultanan falayasiloona ilaykuma bi-ayatinaantuma wamani ittabaAAakuma alghaliboon Said He: “We will strengthen thine arm by thy brother, and We will appoint for you authority so they reach you not. Surah Al-Ahzab, Verse 5 - **Form in this verse:** فَإِخْوَٰنُكُمْ — fa-ikh'wānukum · "then (they are) your brothers" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, plural · nominative case اُدْعُوهُمْ لِاٰبَٓائِهِمْ هُوَ اَقْسَطُ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِۚ فَاِنْ لَمْ تَعْلَمُٓوا اٰبَٓاءَهُمْ فَاِخْوَانُكُمْ فِي الدّ۪ينِ وَمَوَال۪يكُمْۜ وَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ ف۪يمَٓا اَخْطَأْتُمْ بِه۪ۙ وَلٰكِنْ مَا تَعَمَّدَتْ قُلُوبُكُمْۜ وَكَانَ اللّٰهُ غَفُوراً رَح۪يماً OdAAoohum li-aba-ihim huwa aqsatuAAinda Allahi fa-in lam taAAlamoo abaahumfa-ikhwanukum fee addeeni wamawaleekumwalaysa AAalaykum junahun feema akhta/tumbihi walakin ma taAAammadat quloobukum wakanaAllahu ghafooran raheema Call them by their fathers; it is more equitable in the sight of God. But if you know not their fathers, then are they your brethren in doctrine and your allies. And you do no wrong in what you offended therein; but what your hearts intended[...]. Surah Sad, Verse 23 - **Form in this verse:** أَخِى — akhī · "(is) my brother" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · nominative case اِنَّ هٰذَٓا اَخ۪ي لَهُ تِسْعٌ وَتِسْعُونَ نَعْجَةً وَلِيَ نَعْجَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ فَقَالَ اَكْفِلْن۪يهَا وَعَزَّن۪ي فِي الْخِطَابِ Inna hatha akhee lahu tisAAunwatisAAoona naAAjatan waliya naAAjatun wahidatun faqalaakfilneeha waAAazzanee fee alkhitab “This, my brother, has ninety-nine ewes, and I have one ewe; so he said: ‘Place thou her in my charge’; and he overcame me in speech.” _https://quran.so/surah-sad/verse-23.md_ ### 43. Surah Al-Ahqaf, Verse 21 - **Form in this verse:** أَخَا — akhā · "(the) brother" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, singular · accusative case وَاذْكُرْ اَخَا عَادٍۜ اِذْ اَنْذَرَ قَوْمَهُ بِالْاَحْقَافِ وَقَدْ خَلَتِ النُّذُرُ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِه۪ٓ اَلَّا تَعْبُدُٓوا اِلَّا اللّٰهَۜ اِنّ۪ٓي اَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظ۪يمٍ Wathkur akha AAadinith anthara qawmahu bil-ahqafiwaqad khalati annuthuru min bayni yadayhi waminkhalfihi alla taAAbudoo illa Allaha inneeakhafu AAalaykum AAathaba yawmin AAatheem And remember thou the brother of ʿĀd, when he warned his people of the wind-curved sandhills: — and warners have passed away before him and after him — “Serve not save God; I fear for you the punishment of a tremendous day,” _https://quran.so/surah-al-ahqaf/verse-21.md_ ### 49. And spy not; neither backbite one another. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would detest it. Surah Al-Mujadila, Verse 22 - **Form in this verse:** إِخْوَٰنَهُمْ — ikh'wānahum · "their brothers" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, plural · accusative case لَا تَجِدُ قَوْماً يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِ يُوَٓادُّونَ مَنْ حَٓادَّ اللّٰهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَوْ كَانُٓوا اٰبَٓاءَهُمْ اَوْ اَبْنَٓاءَهُمْ اَوْ اِخْوَانَهُمْ اَوْ عَش۪يرَتَهُمْۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ كَتَبَ ف۪ي قُلُوبِهِمُ الْا۪يمَانَ وَاَيَّدَهُمْ بِرُوحٍ مِنْهُۜ وَيُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْر۪ي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهَارُ خَالِد۪ينَ ف۪يهَاۜ رَضِيَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ حِزْبُ اللّٰهِۜ اَلَٓا اِنَّ حِزْبَ اللّٰهِ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ La tajidu qawman yu/minoona billahiwalyawmi al-akhiri yuwaddoona man haddaAllaha warasoolahu walaw kanoo abaahumaw abnaahum aw ikhwanahum aw AAasheeratahum ola-ikakataba fee quloobihimu al-eemana waayyadahum biroohinminhu wayudkhiluhum jannatin tajree min tahtihaal-anharu khalideena feeha radiya AllahuAAanhum waradoo AAanhu ola-ika hizbu Allahiala inna hizba Allahi humu almuflihoon Thou wilt not find people who believe in God and the Last Day loving those who oppose God and His messenger, though they were their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred. Those:–– — He has written faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with a Spirit from Himself, and will make them enter gardens beneath which rivers flow, they abiding eternally therein, God pleased with them, and they pleased with Him — those are the party of God. Surah Al-Hashr, Verse 10 - **Form in this verse:** وَلِإِخْوَٰنِنَا — wali-ikh'wāninā · "and our brothers" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, plural · genitive case وَالَّذ۪ينَ جَٓاؤُ۫ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّـنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلِاِخْوَانِنَا الَّذ۪ينَ سَبَقُونَا بِالْا۪يمَانِ وَلَا تَجْعَلْ ف۪ي قُلُوبِنَا غِلاًّ لِلَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا رَبَّـنَٓا اِنَّكَ رَؤُ۫فٌ رَح۪يمٌ۟ Wallatheena jaoo minbaAAdihim yaqooloona rabbana ighfir lana wali-ikhwaninaallatheena sabaqoona bil-eemani walatajAAal fee quloobina ghillan lillatheena amanoorabbana innaka raoofun raheem And those who came after them, they say: “Our Lord: forgive Thou us and our brethren who preceded us in faith, and put Thou not in our hearts rancour towards those who heed warning. Surah Al-Hashr, Verse 11 - **Form in this verse:** لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمُ — li-ikh'wānihimu · "to their brothers" - **Grammar:** noun · masculine, plural · genitive case اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَى الَّذ۪ينَ نَافَقُوا يَقُولُونَ لِاِخْوَانِهِمُ الَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ اَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ لَئِنْ اُخْرِجْتُمْ لَنَخْرُجَنَّ مَعَكُمْ وَلَا نُط۪يعُ ف۪يكُمْ اَحَداً اَبَداًۚ وَاِنْ قُوتِلْتُمْ لَنَنْصُرَنَّكُمْۜ وَاللّٰهُ يَشْهَدُ اِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ Alam tara ila allatheena nafaqooyaqooloona li-ikhwanihimu allatheena kafaroo minahli alkitabi la-in okhrijtum lanakhrujanna maAAakum walanuteeAAu feekum ahadan abadan wa-in qootiltum lanansurannakumwallahu yashhadu innahum lakathiboon Hast thou not considered the waverers?
