He said, "Nay, you throw first!" And lo! Their ropes and their staves appeared to move along.
So Mûsa entertained a fright within himself.
Wherefore Moses conceived fear in his heart.
So Musa (Moses), in his mind had a (sort of) fear.
So Moses felt afraid in his mind (lest the people be misled by their glittering tricks).
